Hotmail stopped working.

Hi , I'm new to the forum and a new Apple user...3 months new.
This morning I found my email program...Hotmail ...has stopped working overnight. I have no access to any of the mailboxes. I can access my email through Safari.
I expect this is a Microsoft issue. I have rebooted my Ipad and also closed and reopened the mail app. but still have no access to my email throught the mail app. Anyone else having this problem or ideas on how to resolve this? Is there an update from Microsoft re Hotmail / Ipad problems.
Thanks for any info.  Barb M.

Guess I spoke too soon....Hotmail not working again. Not receiving and when try to send I get a message " Cannot Send Email". "An error occirred while delivering this email."
I was also having the above mentioned problen of repopulating after deletion before it stopped working altogether as mentioned in the prev. post.
I think I'll try to report this to Microsoft now via the link given me above.
Should I just change my email to another provider like Gmail . Can I have more than one email provider on my Ipad . Seems like I can add  another accounts

  • Hotmail Stopped Working New iPad

I recently bought the new iPad (2012). I use hotmail and it was working perfectly for the first few days (syncing calendar, mail etc.) but now it has just stopped working. I tried deleting the account and setting it up again, and also tried a hard shut down of the iPad (completely off) a few times but no luck.
Anyone able to help me with this? Can't find a solution anywhere...

I have to check mine again.
One issue is that Hotmail isn't a normal email account (POP or IMAP). There is some proprietary interface that only some companies like Apple and Nokia have access to on their mobile devices. So it may be that there was some backend problem at Microsoft's end.

  • Hotmail stopped working on my iPhone after a few months!

    Hi,
I upgraded my hotmail account to the premium membership to be able to use its pop service on my iphone and it worked fine for a few months. But suddenly it just stopped working a couple of weeks ago. I am not able to receive any new emails on the email service of my iPhone for my Hotmail account. All my other email services, yahoo and gmail, work fine on my iPhone apart from my Hotmail account which it just stopped two weeks ago and has not resumed working ever since.
Any one has any explanation or suggestion to resolve this issue.
    Thanks

I am having the same problem and I think I am making matters worse. I tried deleting the hotmail account and then added it again, but I'm not sure I have the settings right. Should I be setting up in IMAP, POP, or Exchange? Here is what I have done so far for my last attempt:
    Deleted my Hotmail account.
Powered phone off and turned back on.
    Went to Settings/Mail/Add Account/Other
    IMAP is highlighted
    Name/Address/Description is correct
    Host Name: pop3.live.com
    User Name: is correct
    Password: is correct
    Host Name: smpt.live.com
    User Name: is correct
    Password: is correct
Pressed SAVE (iphone shows "verifying IMAP account information")
Error message "*Cannot Connect Using SSL* Do you want to try setting up the account without SSL?"
Pressed YES (iphone shows "verifying IMAP account information")
Error message "*IMAP account verification failed* The IMAP server "pop3.live.com" is not responding. Check your network connection and that you entered the correct information in the "Incoming Mail Server" field."
    Pressed OK
Now what or where do I go from here? My Yahoo account is working fine.

  • Hotmail stopped working for Nokia E72

    Hi,
Got an E72 last week and went throug the e-mail setup and added a hotmail account and it worked fine.
After three days or so the e-mails just stopped coming into the phone. When I checked my hotmail account on my PC I found a lot of new mails.
I tried to delete the account and add it again. The result is an empty inbox. When I try to sync It says that it is connected to hotmail and that it is updating but I don´t get any e-mails to the phone.
Any ideas what could have happend and how to solve this.
I think I have changed all the settings and tried everyting and read a lot of threads on diffrent forums but I can´t find an answer.

Hello. Bought my first nokia phone for 9 days and already has several problems. Starting with what is most urgent. Already after 3-4 days disappeared suddenly able to receive mail from my hotmail account, but luckily came back later in the day! So on Friday I got an email from nokia with the text below. I have accordingly made the following (but without result).
First I tried to follow the recipe that is in the mail as described below. I first went into hotmail via my computer and changed the password. Then I went into settings on the phone and changed the password there without success.
Then I tried to go into the settings in the phone and reset phone to factory mode 3-4 times then use the built-in wizard to configure my hotmail account and wait for the result without success.
I receive e-mails that are written below in Norwegian every day. When I go into the e-mail on mobile phone brings up the yellow / green circle in the corner which I interpret as if everything is ok with connecting to hotmail. But that is not receiving e-mail. Anybody can help me? Preferably by using the internal e-mail program.
    Dear nokia messaging client
For security reasons, Microsoft requires that you change your password with 365-day intervals for Windows Live Hotmail account. Once this is done you will again be able to receive e-mails.
Go to Options-Settings-Settings of the mailbox - Password and enter the password again. E-mail delivery to your phone will be resumed shortly thereafter.
    Sincerely Yours,
    Nokia Messaging team.

  • Hotmail stopped working in Apple Mail - PLEASE HELP

My Comcast and Gmail accounts work great in Mail. But I keep getting the following error when setting up my free Hotmail account:
"The POP server "pop3.live.com" is not responding. Try checking the network connection, and that the server is correct. Otherwise, the server might be temporarily unavailable."
It allows me to click through but then when trying to sign onto my account I get this error:
"The server returned the error: The server “pop3.live.com” refused to allow a connection on port 995."
I am using the following settings:
    http://lifehacker.com/5169684/hotmail-finally-enables-pop3-worldwide
I've checked with my ISP and they say they're not blocking any ports, my firewall is turned off, I get this same type of error when setting up Hotmail on Thunderbird on my Mac. I can sign on just fine on other computers mail clients in my house and I have no problem signing in via the web.
I've been having this problem for about 3 months now. My thought is that there's something internally telling the necessary ports to block all traffic but I'm stumped on how to figure it out. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I only have a Hotmail account for testing to help others, but in general it has worked fine. However, yesterday and today, it keeps prompting for the password, so I deselected to include when automatically checking, and have only been using Get Mail manually, which works.
Snow Leopard appears to check often and regularly on the status of the connection to servers -- I am wondering if Hotmail is finding this objectionable?

  • Connection to hotmail stopped working

Hotmail connection says either user I'd or pswd is incorrect yet I can access it from safari. It has been working for years.  What do I need to try to attempt to get this fixed

I am having this same issue.  I can access these accounts from computers, other locations on others' computers, but I cannot get the mail from one account on either my iPhone or iPad.  I've deleted the account on the iPad and re-installed it, but it still will not receive mail.
    Frustrating.

  • When I Installed iOS8 My Hotmail Stopped Working

I am having problems getting emails using my hotmail account. I have the iPhone 6 + iOS8. I am able to add the account but none of my emails come through. When I click on the account under mailboxes it only shows an inbox... no other folders and no mail. Any ideas? I've been previously using this hotmail account with my iphone 5 and iOS 7 for the last year and it worked perfectly.
    Thanks!

In case it happens again, here's what I did. I'm pasting below.
After struggling for several more hours with my issue adding my MSN mail account to my new iPhone6's iOS8, I finally figured it out!  Apparently, this applies to Hotmail as well.
Here's the fix, in case someone else happens to need it:
Instead of selecting Outlook.com or Other after tapping on "Add Account," select Exchange.
Enter the username as the email address.
Don't enter your password!  From the desktop or laptop that you normally use to access your MSN/Hotmail email, log out of your email account and then log back in, go to your account settings, click on Security, and then request a temporary password for access via apps.  That password will be a funky, long combination of random letters and/or numbers.  It will appear on your computer screen right away.
Enter that password onto your iOS8 device.
    Voila, you're done!

  • Hotmail stopped working in Firefox last night. Still works in IE, but Firefox is my usual browser, and I'd like to stick with it.

Hotmail will load in Firefox, but I cannot open, delete, or move emails, and I cannot open any of my folders to access email. I am not having this problem in IE; only in Firefox.
Other people are registering the same complaint at the Hotmail forums, so it's not an issue on my end, and it's definitely not just a cacheing issue or anything like that.

Hotmail is rolling out a server change at their end which might be causing this problem. Mozilla has spoken to them about it and they are trying to fix it. I won't be able to provide you a time estimate by when it will be solved but hotmail/mozilla is certainly looking at this issue.
I will let you know if get any updates!

  • How do I open hotmail messages, delete, compose, etc. ? It has stopped working since May 31st.

On May 31st , 2010 my hotmail stopped working properly with Firefox. After logging in to my account, I see that I have new messages, but cannot read them, or read the old messages. I cannot delete, compose, or do anything with my messages. I can access hotmail through explorer but would rather continue to use firefox. What can I do to fix it? I have tried downloading the newest version of firefox but that didn't help. My hotmail address is [email protected]
== URL of affected sites ==
    http://www.hotmail.com

I have a problem similar to [email protected], except that I use AT&T webmail instead of Hotmail, using Firefox 3.6.9 and running WinXP SP3. It started just a couple of days ago. The email header shows up, but I cannot read the content of the email, either in the reading pane or by double-clicking the email to open the full window for email. I can read my email using IE7 (opens very slowly) or Google Chrome.

  • Email app stopped working

MY email app, using hotmail, stopped working.  I can still access the account using safari.  I deleted app account and attempted to reload my hotmail, but get the message that can't verify account.  Any clues?

To clarify, I did not delete my gmail account. I deleted my gmail address from the IPAD email app after it stopped working. I can access my gmail account fine using the Safari browser. But when I try to reconnect to my gmail account using the IPAD email app, it comes up with the errors above. I'm at a loss.
recommend you completely delete that email account, restart the ipad and then recreate the email account.
To restart the ipad: Press and Hold the Home and Wake Sleep buttons until the Apple Logo appears.

In the meantime, make a temporary, backup copy of the library and try the following:
1 - delete the iPhoto preference file, com.apple.iPhoto.plist, that resides in your
         User/Home()/Library/ Preferences folder.
2 - delete iPhoto's cache file, Cache.db, that is located in your
         User/Home()/Library/Caches/com.apple.iPhoto folder.
3 - launch iPhoto and try again.
NOTE: If you're moved your library from its default location in your Home/Pictures folder you will have to point iPhoto to its new location when you next open iPhoto by holding down the Option key when launching iPhoto.  You'll also have to reset the iPhoto's various preferences.
