Hotot text is messed up.

Hi, I'm accessing the internet behind a proxy server, and I tried to apply the proxy settings to Hotot (a really nice Twitter client).
What's happened is all the text has now become 'blacked out' as if it were highlighted using a black highlighter.
I tried deleting the profile, and the text becomes visible again, but as soon as I re-enable the proxy, the blacking-out re-occurs.
I'm running Gnome 3.2 on Arch Linux.

Hm, does this happen for Devanagari only? Then I would first think about a wrong character set or locale.
Or maybe there's just a typo in your config.

Editable form text editing messing up the whole form

Hi All,
I've created a fillable form in Acrobat X but at the end, I realized that I left a spelling mistake. Now when I try to fix this mistake using Edit Document Text, it changes the orientation and alignment of other fields around it causing messing up the whole form. Can anyone advise any solution. I can provide the form to you to have a look or correct it for me if someone can kindly. Please advise as this is urgent and this form needs to be delivered ASAP. Please see the screenshot below. I need to correct the spelling of Blocked which is written as BOCKED without changing other formatting of the document. Thanks in anticipation!

Thanks for the suggestion but this file was originally created in Word and after conversion to PDF, I've made a lot of radio buttons, check-boxes in this file which I certainly don't want to redo. Now if I convert this page back to Word and edit this single word, then it means that I would have to create all the radio buttons, check boxes etc again which is time consuming. Any help if I can just correct the spelling of this single word without changing the formatting of the fields besides it?

Dynamic Text getting messed up

I have a "Dynamic Text" element called "output_txt". In my action script code, I have this line:
output_txt.text = "I am thinking of a number between 1 and 100";
But what actually gets displayed in that element, after that line runs is:
"thinin o ne etween n 00"
Some of the letters are randomly getting dropped. Any ideas on what could be going wrong?
(I'm using Adobe Flash Professional CS5.5 version 11.5.0.325.)

Thanks for the answer. I was actually using "classic text", and I had clicked the embed font button. But I when checking it again, I notice that you have to select a character range or nothing actually gets embedded. Clicking "all" under the character range resolved the issue.

Cut and paste text is messed up in CS6

I was working in AICS6 today and when I copied or cut selected text from one point text object into another text object, all the text on the page pasted at the text insertion point instead of just the word I cut. If I did a simple "Paste" command, the single word was added to the page as a point text element. What in the world is going on? I popped into CS5 and tried the same thing and all works as expected.
I sure hope I'm not the only one to experience this. I really want to like CS6, but my record is dismal with this new version.

This bug appears to be limited to text editing within a symbol. Try this:
Create a symbol with several text objects.
Edit the symbol by selecting one word and pasting it into another text object.
My experience is that I get all the text that is part of the symbol.
I have had another AICS6 user try this with the same results.

Text fades mess up when exporting to AVI

Hi,
I'm doing some pretty simpe text fades in flash by changing the alpha from 100% to 0% for a piece of text.
This works fine in the SWF export, but when I export to AVI the text corrupts (shifts, expands and looks interlaced) during the fade portion.
I've tried doing this with a brightness shift, and even ticking he "cache as bitmap".
I tried exporting as 32bit movie with alpha. That stops the corruption, but now there's a flicker juse before the fade that's not there in the SWF!
Anyone know what I'm doing wrong?
I'm using Flash Professional CS5 by the way.

Another option is to do a screen capture. Lots of choice in software.

Quick Look of Plain Text Got Messed Up

Hi,
As a web designer, I often work with text files and I use Quick Look a lot to view my files quickly without opening any application.
Normally all plain text files such as .txt .html .css .php .srt etc. are shown in a monospace typeface in front of a white background. Other formatted text files such as .rtf are shown in the font as formatted (duh).
Recently the Quick Look of my plain text file are shown in a Serif typeface on a yellowish background. This is annoying since I really like to have my plain text files shown in "plain text". The formatted text files are shown correctly, however.
I have a suspicion that this is cause by Writer Pro app because I installed it recently. And the font and background in Quick Look seems just like those in Writer Pro.
I've checked in /System/Library/QuickLook and nothing is suspicious and the modified time of the folder is long time ago before the issue occured. The /Library/QuickLook is fine as well, only iBooksAuthor.qlgenerator and iWork.qlgenerator are there.
Question:
How to set this back to default?
How to tweak the style of Quick Look if it is tweakable?

I was not able to find any "report a problem" on the order status page.
I did wander about the Apple website and I finally found a form where I could report a problem with a print product. Apple could not have done a better job hiding the ability to report that something didn't go correctly.
I filled out the form and submitted it. Apple simply spat back some gibberish about security and encryption and suggested I upgrade to a newer browser. I'm using Internet Explorer 11, for crying out loud. I tried to back out to recover what I had written but it was lost.
Apple is really slipping now. This is three unpleasent experiences in a row - a bad order, awful chat support (from two different people - although I'm not convinced they were real people), and now a difficult to navigate and, in the end, buggy website for reporting problems. This is not good enough. I spent $345 on three books and am so far not very satisfied.

Before we go any further, I would like to say that there is no Word 2012 version released before for Microsoft official site.
If the Word document could still be opened by other machine except for Word 20XX in the
specific machine, that means the data file itself is fine. But Word 20XX application mighe be corrupted. Repair it and then check the result.

That was from a project I did a few months ago. Sounds similar to what you want. I did that in After Effects.
Basically all I did was add a glow effect to the text and messed around with the glow parameters. The black smoke is animated and moves on the actual video and is basically some pre keyed smoke footage that I had. The smoke was originally gray but black looked cooler.
I'd say it's pretty close to your hot branding iron thing.

Can't select text in iWeb published pages

I need to rebuild pages from existing ones on the web that were made with iWeb 09.
Text boxes that also include inserted images appear to have lost the ability to have their text highlighted and copied off the web (existing) pages.
Boxes that contain ONLY text seem to be selectable, just fine, but if ANY image has been inserted in the text stream when the page was designed, attempting to select just the text ends up selecting the entire box, which is not very helpful.
Is there a way around this?

Whoda thunk that simply adding a simple drop shadow onto text would mess up the entire selectability of every bit of adjacent text in that text box?
That qualifies for the IBotY (Institutionalized Bug of the Year) award. Surely the code writers should have seen this one coming and worked around it by automatically selecting and isolating the drop-shadowed text?
Now a new conundrum.
After fixing the text by dropping it into in-line text boxes, all is well except (wait for it)
Just One More Thing.
The boxes, now selectable, show up just fine in iWeb, all neatly packed together the way I want the layout to look.
BUT

Dynamic text shifts when style changes

I have some dynamic text fields that are set up so that when
you rollover them (actually a button behind them), their formatting
changes. This is done with some basic actionscripting, setting up 2
different text format variables and attaching one or the other to
the text field when a button is rolled over. The only thing that
changes is color. When the text first appears all is well. But when
you rollover the text and the color changes, on certain browsers an
extra space can get inserted at the beginning of a new line, sort
of like the old bug where text wrapping messes up and moves a space
down to the beginning of a line. This happens on IE 6 and 7 and
Safari, not Firefox. The player is 9. THanks.

Did not, I was happier with the browser's display than with
the embedded font version. May try it just to see if problem
remains. Seems like something I should be able to avoid without
having to embed though.

Blinking cursor in text box by hitting tab

I have an input text on stage. Normally when we want to type
something in the text box we have to click the mouse in the text
box. If I want the blinking cursor to appear in text box by just
hitting tab button on keyboard, could it be done ?

Joel, I am not sure what you mean by starting a new thread. The new material I placed in a new text box on a new page is less than a page wide and does not fill the text box.
I file > placed the text and it came from Word. I did not copy and paste it.
I do use CS4.
There are no character styles or paragraph styles applied to the text. This is something I will add as the pieces are placed.
The button to which you refer is in the upper right hand corner of my computer and the text to which you referred -- no break is unchecked.
This is not the first time I have had trouble with text disappearing. I usually manage to make an end run and correct the problem in Word and then place the text again. However, whatever method I use is time-consuming, tedious and frustrating.
No matter where I use the enter key in that text frame, text below the enter disappears and the out port then shows a plus (even though the text box is NOT full). If I click on the plus and add the text to a different text box, I get the text that disappeared. But that is not the result I want. If I try to take the text from the out port and put it back into the text box, where it belongs then I get text linked to text--a mess.
There must be a cure for this problem.

On button rollover Dynamic text and Movieclip appear

Hi guys,
I've got an issue - When one of my buttons is rolled over, I want text and a movieclip to appear. When the button is no longer rolled over, I want the text and movieclip to disappear.
The way that I was going to do this was to have anchor_mc as an anchor, and upon rollover have the movieclip play from inside the anchor (as its at the exact X & Y that its needed at) and dynamic text appear.
Questions:
1) How do I attach mc_textbox to mc_anchor --- OR, how do I set coordinate for just where mc_textbox should show?
2) How do I then make the movieclip disappear if the button is no longer rolled over?
3) Is it not possible for me to merge all of the dynamic text functions into one function, using IF statements? I tried this, but couldn't work it out.

It isn't relly clear to me what you have versus what you want, so these answers may be equally unclear to you.
1. One way to join them together is to maually place one inside the other while authoring the file. Another way is to use addChild to add the text mc to the anchor... mc_anchor.addChild(mc_textbox); To control where the text mc appears you can set its x and y properties.using actionscript... mc_textbox.x = 0;
2. To make the movieclip disappear you can set its visible property to false... mc_anchor.visible = false;
3. You can probably reduce that code substantially, though it partly depends on what variations there are really going to be in the text that displays for each rollover. For now, I'll assume the text will be entirely different for each...

Hi friends,
this is a real issue and I do not need any unspecific recommendations.
I created a message in Z namespace with additional longtext. I have to translate the long text from German to english.
I wasted one hour with trying in SE63 - I did not get anywhere, nothing selected, nothing displayed.
Need a step-by-step guide or link to useful online help.

(1) Call transaction SE63
(2) Choose menu: Translation -> R/3 Enterprise -> Transport Objects
(3) Enter: R3TR MSAG ZUS_SDN and choose target language -> push ENTER button

Help needed with gray washed-out looking text on 23HD Cinema Display

My 23 inch HD Cinema Display running on an ATI X800 is plenty capable of displaying nice deep dark blacks in graphics and photos, but text on screen seems to me to be very gray or washed out, even "thin" looking. I've set my color preference for high gamma, but while a bit better still no joy. I have the brightness 4 full clicks down from full (and it's still plenty bright)...
Is this normal for this screen or are there steps I could take for better appearing text without messing up graphic & photo elements?
Sorry if this has been asked & answered before; a quick search here didn't turn up any good matches.

Launch the "Digital Color Meter", set the aperture size to 1 pixel and drag your cursor over some text. You will see that text is not displayed in "pure black" but in shades of grey with a lot of colored highlights. In order to get the best performance out of your display, you really need to calibrate it. There are a lot of "shades of grey" between black and white. For the very best results, you need to use a colorimeter. The Spyder2 for example, runs through the entire range of greys as well as RG&B. After using one of these or a similar unit, you will be much happier with your display in general and specifically, in it's ability to display text. You might get OK results using OS X's "expert mode" calibration tool but it's much more subjective and therefore not nearly as accurate.
