Can I use hotspot tethering in iPad mini with wifi??
Can I use hotspot tethering in iPad mini with wifi??
You can use an iPhone (if your carrier supports it) as a personal hotspot for your iPad and use the phone's cellular connection to go online with your iPad - your iPad will see the phone as a wifi network.
If you are asking if you can share an internet connection from a wifi-only iPad then you can't, only cellular models potentially allow you to share its connection with other devices/computers. -
PERSONAL HOTSPOT MISSING IN IPAD MINI
Personal hotspot is missing on my ipad mini!! can anybody help me how to get it back or is it the issue with the carrier?
Hi,
I faced the same problem with my iPad mini iOS 8.1 version software.
After checking support communities I tried resetting the software by holding the power and the menu key together for about 15 seconds till the apple logo appeared and resetting the iPad. sometime after trying to 2 or 3 times yesterday the hotspot menu appeared but the same was not working. It always said contact carrier for using the same.
Then today when I went to carrier they could not solve the problem.
While checking again I noticed after restarting my iPad I again lost the hotspot menu.
Once again I started from beginning. In my case I could find the solution as given below:
1) Go to settings
2) Go to cellular data
3) Go to APN settings
here you will find 3 set up options:
a) cellular data
apn : kindly type the GPRS settings of your iPad internet services provider
example: aircelgprs or aircelgprs.po
something like that
leave username and password blank.
b) lte setup options should be used by late users same system as above kindly check with your service provider for the same.
c) personal hotspot
APN: pls set up same as the one using gprs setting or lte setting in case you are using lte.
leave username and password blank
after this i went back to main settings menu and restarted the phone. Hotspot menu was back with all its glory. I reset the phone again and it was still there.
I feel this solution may work since it feels systematically and logically ok.
I hope this solves the issue for all my friends worldwide who face this problem.
Thanks and Have a nice day with your iPhone or iPad. -
How to sync music and video from iPhone4 with iPad mini?
I have music and video on my iPhone4 and I just got my iPad mini yesterday. Does anyone know how to sync music and video between two devices?
Apple doesn't enable you to copy certain items from your iPhone to your computer e.g.
- songs that have not been bought in the iTunes store
- photos from photo album (only allows photos transferred from camera roll)
This is frustrating if you have lost these items on your computer - e.g. accidental deletion, hard disk failure.
Its not that its not possible - just that the functionality is not included in iTunes. Its an example of Apple prioritising revenues over customer experience - hey they can do what they want with their reputation but should take care not to frustrate customers too much.
However the Senuti (free) and PhoneView ($20) allows you to transfer items either way between computer and iPhone. Ive tried both and they work great. These are for OS X and there are many other applications available online for both Windows/Mac that allow you to treat the iPhone as just a plugged in disk too. You can try iPod Photo Liberator (Mac & Windows) iPodCopy (Mac and Windows Versions) Keith's iPod Photo Reader (Mac only).
Good luck -
How do I get back my missing Personal Hotspot on My ipad mini?
I had t before and I don't know what I did but its missing. I tried resetting Network settings, restoring but nothing works.
You have it turned on in Settings > General > Cellular > Personal Hotspot ? And you haven't switched to a different tariff with your carrier ?

Will the AT&T iPad Mini support Personal Hotspot?
Can't seem to find any literature online confirming or denying whether or not the AT&T iPad Mini will support personal hotspot. Anyone know?
I just finished chatting with an AT&T representative. She typed, "You would have to make your phone a personal hotspot and have your iPad Mini Tethered."
When I pressed further, she replied with standard sales filler,
"The personal hotspot feature on Smartphone provides a way to share your Internet connection with other Wi-Fi capable devices. With this on your account you would be able to create your own hotspot at locations convenient to you. To be able to use this feature you would need to have the 5GB data plan for $50.00 added to your account and the devices that connect to the hotspot would also be using from the 5GB."
and then said that "Currently does not support Personal Hotspot on the iPad Mini."
This is very disappointing, especially as Verizon *does* offer Personal Hotspot for the iPad mini and the Personal Hotspot button does appear in the Cellular Data page. Interestingly, the View Account button now says that my account type does not support the View Account feature and advises me to call for assistance. Hmmm, no way to add additional data from the iPad mini itself? That seems wrong. -
IPad mini not connecting to the shared wifi from my MBP!
hi all
I am currently on a business trip, and set my 13" MBP to share the hard-wired internet connection in my hotel room. Yesterday this worked perfectly to provide a hotspot for my iPad mini to connect to.
However, today, my iPad mini sees the network, but refuses to make a connection (just a spinning wheel), even when right next to my MBP!!
I have restarted the iPad, I have renewed the lease (and then switched the wifi off and then on again), I have "forgotten" my local shared network and logged in again with the correct password, but nothing is working! I have switched my MBP's wifi off and on, and did not change any setting anywhere? How can this be for a brand new, three-week old iPad?
Any suggestions please? thanks, in advance
Dr Ki had the same problem few days ago
Open the Settings application on your iPhone, go to “General”
- To correct the error, you need to reset the time and date of the machine: On select “Date and Time”.
- Turn off “Set Automatically”, then switch it on again”.
i dont know the relation with this error but it worked for me! -
How can i use "phone relay" on a iPad mini over iPhone created wifi hotspot?
How can i use "phone relay" on a iPad mini over iPhone created wifi hotspot?
It works nicely over home wifi, but for example, i am sitting in my car, phone is in my pocket and I'm using the iPad, call comes in and i don't want to start digging for my phone.
Is there any way?
devices:
iPad mini cellular (no SIM card at the moment)
iPhone 5S
Thanks!well yes, but it basically makes wifi for the other devices, it basically mimics wifi.
as i get from your answer, it is not possible?
it would be common sense to make it work this way also. directly from device to device. no bounce between WiFi router
Then again, common sense is not that common these days... -
I have DocsToGo premium installed on my iPhone4s; can I use the same app on an iPad mini or do I have to purchase another one?
It shows up in the store as a universal app, so you should be ok to go.

Personal Hotspot not working between iPad Mini and iPhone 6 Plus
The personal hotspot function between my iPad Mini and iPhone 5C worked perfectly.
I am now using an iPhone 6 Plus with the same iPad Mini and cannot establish a connection at all.
Bluetooth and Wifi are enabled on both devices and the iPad says it has found my phone, displays the signal strength, 4G, battery remaining and 2 linked circles.
When I choose that hotspot it tries to connect then just keeps saying "Remote Hotspot Failure. Unable to start Personal Hotspot. Stuart's iPhone 6Plus"
Please help!
StuartAre both compatible devices / carriers?

I am about to buy an ipad mini for my daughter, with wifi only capability & wondered if I was able to share my internet connection via my personal hotspot on this device. I know that you can on an ipad with wifi + cellular device, but wondered how it worked for the wifi only model. I have an iphone 5 ios7.2 & would be using my personal hotspot from this to share with the ipad mini in car journeys etc. The wifi obviously is great when at home. Thanks for any advice or comments.
Thank you so much, a direct answer on something Ive been trying to get an answer for all morning. ipad mini with wifi only, is capable of sharing a personal hotspot on my iphone 5, but you think that in some cases it can be expensive. My provider insists that my personal hotspot sharing is free. I am with 3. Problem solved.

I can no longer connect my iPad Mini 2 w/ iOS 8.1.2 to connect to my iPhone 6 (iOS 8.1.2, Verizon Wireless) running Personal Hotspot. The iPad displays the error "Remote Hotspot Failure - Unable to start personal hotspot "iPhone. However, my Windows 8.1 laptop connects to the iPhone just fine. The iPad connection problem occurs with or without the Windows laptop connected or even turned on.
Both the iPhone and iPad have Bluetooth and WiFi on, and the iPhone has Hotspot active. The iPad shows the iPhone Personal Hotspot on the WiFi Settings page, but throws the error each time i attempt to connect. Additionally, the iPhone shows 1 Connection on Personal Hotspot even though I have no devices connected. I have reset my network settings twice on both the iPhone and iPad.
BTW - I used to be able to connect the iPad to the Hotspot prior to updating to iOS 8.1.2 on both devices.Forgetting the hotspot on the iPad sent me in the right direction. I now have it working correctly, and seem to have diagnosed the cause.
The cause seems to be that I had connected the iPad to the Hotspot via Bluetooth. Once I figured out how to delete that link, I was finally able to connect to the Hotspot. Here is what I had to do:
On the iPhone:
- Turn on WiFi and Bluetooth
- Turn on Personal Hotspot and change the Hotspot password (this may not have been necessary, but things are now working)
On the iPad:
Reset all network settings:
Settings -> General -> Reset (at bottom of page) -> Reset Network Settings (deletes all known networks and their passwords and restarts the iPad)
Turn on WiFi and Bluetooth (I had found that Bluetooth must be on is necessary in some other research)
DO NOT CONNECT TO THE PERSONAL HOTSPOT USING BLUETOOTH - DON'T GO THERE!
Connect to the Hotspot using WiFi
Settings ->WiFi
- Wait until you see "iPhone" under PERSONAL HOTSPOTS (or maybe CHOOSE A NETWORK)
- Select "iPhone"
- Enter the (new) password that you set on for the PERSONAL HOTSPOT on the iPhone
You should now be connected via WiFi
Bottom line: Unless you have some VERY compelling reason to connect to the Hotspot via Bluetooth, NEVER do it. WiFi speed is multiples that of Bluetooth. With WiFi using Broadband Speedtest over Verizon LTE - 2 bars/dots - I am consistently getting between 15 and 20 Mb download and 3-15 Mb upload. With Bluteooth using the same test, I was getting about 1 Mb maximum upload and download.
I hope this solves the problem for all reading this thread. And thank you ManSinha for the helpful clue. -

My iphone4 and my iPad mini won't connect via blue tooth just continues to search
What are you trying to do?
The Bluetooth is meant for earplug, headset, keyboard, car hands-free set, and speakers.
You need a 3rd party app to do BT file transfer or other functions between iDevices.
