Hotspot is stuck on

I have an iphone 6 and iPhone 6 plus both with iOS 8.1.1.  They both show up as having personal hotspots even though the personal hotspot settings on both show up as OFF.   I have tried turning the hotspot on then off. I have also tried resetting the phones. The only way I can turn them off is to turn off cellular data. Then as soon as I turn cellular data back on. The hotspots reappear under wifi searches even though both personal hotspots show up as OFF in settings.
How can I turn off the personal hotspots and still enable cellular data?

Hey jlcramer,
Welcome to the forums!
I think the issue here is that because T-Mobile does not sell this device then they most likely do not have the service books in their system for this. That is why when they send you the service books northing happens.

  • Personal Hotspot switches from LTE and gets stuck in 3G. Won't switch back

    Hi There,
My Personal Hotspot on my iPhone 6 switches from LTE and gets stuck in 3G service. The hotspot stays in the 3G service even when I'm back in an LTE zone. The only reason I know I'm back in an LTE service zone is because if I disable hotspot, put my phone in airplane mode, and turn it back on I get LTE service. Please note that if I wasnt using personal hotspot the phone seems to find LTE, go to 3G, and then back to LTE just fine.
This happens while I'm commuting to work on the train and consistently pass between multiple cell phone towers.
    Any help?
    Thanks!!!

To recreate this...First make sure WiFi is off and that you have 3G turned on (go to Settings-->General-->Network) and that you're in a real 3G area (you'll see a "3G" symbol in the upper left of the screen
Then turn off 3G (go to Settings-->General-->Network and turn off 3G.) Wait a few seconds for the phone to switch to EDGE (you'll see the "E" indicator in the upper left of the iPhone screen once it's on EDGE). Then simply go back and turn 3G back on in Settings->General->Network. The phone SHOULD automatically reselect 3G and you'd see the "3G" again in the upper left part of the screen but instead you'll just see the same "E" in the upper left because it's not switching. To force the switchback to 3G after performing the above example, turn on Airplane mode and then turn it back off after a few seconds. For me, this always resets the radios such that 3G will again appear in the upper left of the screen and the phone will run on 3G. Otherwise it will just sit on EDGE even though I've turned 3G on. Strange but consistent.
I just tried this and my IP4 switched to 3G after turning back on the 3G and accessing a web site. It took about 5 seconds, but it did switch on its own. It did not happen just sitting there, I had to make it do some work (by loading data).

  • Two crashes: one OS crash with gray screen and loading bar- help? (Stuck overseas, so you guys are it!)

    Hey everyone.
When firefox crashed last night, I figured it was just firefox being difficult, but when while using firefox my entire computer crashed this afternoon and rebooted with a gray screen, the spinny wait symbol, and a loading bar, I started to get concerned. After looking through console, I'm not sure what's caused it to crash like this so I'm hoping one of you bright people here can tell me what exactly happened. I'm running a mac book pro with 10.6.8, have no real addons on firefox aside from adblock plus, divx, memory restart, a french dictionary, and a skin I've been using forever and have also spoken to the developer in the past about. I'm also using Firefox 17.0.1. After trying to google some of the more unfamiliar/suspicious lines (mostly relating to launch agents), I typed into terminal the command to list all launch agents and received 3 replies naming adobe, divx, and google. I used terminal to delete them all just for safe measure (plus the adobe update window has been irritating me to no end so maybe it'll go away now, haha). I did three things when I tried to boot up again after the crash and the weird launch screen with loading bar came up: 1) I held down the power button again because a) the screen was weirding me out and b) I thought it got hung up again (bar seemed to stall for an unusually long time), 2) I tried to boot again and when the same gray screen came back I just figured I had no choice and had to sit through it. 3) when the bar was at about half way I pulled out my ethernet cord for safe measure in case something shady was going on. These three things are also reflected in the log below.
I currently live overseas and the nearest Apple store is over two hours away with no guarantee of a native english speaker working, so if anyone can let me know what caused the crash and if there's anything I can do about it, I would be extremely grateful. The following is my current console log in its entirety from today, including my attempted system update to see if that would improve things (which also resulted in a gray screen with loading bar later), and a really weird bit at the end that is also confusing (but possibly caused by me tinkering in terminal- not sure).
NAME is replacing my HD name, and my screen name here (caithris) has replaced my computer user name. NUMBER has replaced anything that looks like a serial number of some kind.
Thanks so much ahead of time-- please let me know if there's anything else I can share.

The gray screen with loading bar issue is a at boot fsck (file system check) that has discovered something wrong with your boot drive/partition and was attempting to fix it.
OS X is booting but can't complete, so that means your hard drive is good, just likely has been either subjected to shock which damaged data on the platters, or bad sectors (the drive is dying if after fixing it, problems occurs again), or something messed something up in the file structure.
Firefox is currently at 19.02, so it appears your background auto-update has not been occurring, which makes me suspect the machine's data is broken in some manner or you have malware on the machine blocking the updates.
Your problems are multiple, in your case I advise a complete erase and install.
1: If you have a backup of your user data on a external storage drive (not TimeMachine as it might be corrupted and compromised with malware it's just going to restore back) then your good, else you have to do this.
Create a data recovery/undelete external boot drive
Copy your data to a blank plain jane external storage drive as you want no executable files on it when you connect to the cleaned machine later.
2: Once your data is safely copied (copy visible files manually and what you know is good, not folders that can contain invisible malware programs!) then disconnect the drive(s)
3: Next assume all writeable media is contaminated with malware and treat as so. Even if you erased it.
4: Stick in your 10.6 install disk and reboot holding the c or option key down. You want Disk Utility and you want to select the ENTIRE internal drive and MUST USE the Security Option > Zero All Data (unless your in the military then use 7x erase, do not use 35x as it will take weeks and is unnecessary)
The Zero/7x erase will do two things, do a low level format and erradicate everything (including hidden stuff and deleted files) also will map off any failing sectors on the hard drive.
5: Follow the procedure here to install 10.6
How to erase and install Snow Leopard 10.6
6: Reboot the machine twice, then once you set up the machine (using a alias of course and not allowing registration), use a secured network and IMMEDIATLY Software update to 10.6.8, if you can download the 10.6.8 Combo update on another secure machine to a (new) USB thumb drive and install it on the clean Mac, do that instead.
WiFi security issues, at home and WiFi hotspots
    https://support.apple.com/kb/DL1399
Still run Software update afterwards as Apple might not have fully updated the combo update yet.
7: Once you machine is secure, download the free ClamXav and run a scan on the external storage drive with just your files, perhaps one or more PDF's or other files are not what they seem to be.
8: Make sure to install fresh copies of software from original sources and not from rewriteable media, update them to be current. Malware can be hidden in copies of programs.
9: Trash all your rewritable media, or use a Linux PC or Linux Mint in a virtual machine (VirtualBox) on another computer like Windows to scrub and reformat all the rewritable media before attaching them to the clean Mac. You have to make sure it's getting the entire media.
10: Once your machine is set back up, then make clones and time and date them.
    Most commonly used backup methods
If your still having problems with the machine, it's likley a failing hard drive and you will have to replace it and repeat the steps above pretty much.
Really it's best to replace the drive in the interest of security.
Install/upgrade RAM or storage drive in Mac's
For performance of Snow Leopard, check out this tip
    For Snow Leopard Speed Freaks
Your overseas, if your in a foriegn country you have to assume FinSpy is being installed on your machine (uses a older iTunes verison "update" to get on) or there is other tricks via the ISP to install something on your machine. So mix things up and don't stick any old USB you see laying around into your Mac.

  • Thread are gettin stuck causing the WebLogic server to hang

We are developing an application for an US client which inclueds the following technology.
    - WebLogic 9.2 JMS (Foreign Server, Queue, Connection Factor, persistent Store)
    - Oracle 10g & Oracle 9i
    - J2EE (MDB)
    Different application uses different databases.
After the server run for a few day it is getting a stuck thread and reported the same as a Hogging Thread in server -> monitoring -> thread. At this point the server hangs and stopped working with the status in 'warning' state (in the same page itself).
The problem remains until the managed server is restarted.
We have taken thread dump of different times and one of the error that we have got is attached below:

Can you help us in resolving the issue? This causes the weblogic server to hung and eventually non responsive.
Below are our java version details:

Can you let me know how to proceed and what can be done to avoid this issue?
    Thanks a bunch Tom.

  • WHEN I USED TO CONNECT INTERNET FROM MY IPHONE 4S PERSONAL HOTSPOT VIA USB, AN ICON IN THE NETWORK PREFERENCE NAMED "IPHONE" GETS OPENED.... BUT NOW THIS IS NOT HAPPENING AND I AM NOT ABLE TO CONNECCT PERSONAL HOTSPOT VIA USB CABLE. PLEASE HELP ME OUT

WHEN I USED TO CONNECT INTERNET FROM MY IPHONE 4S PERSONAL HOTSPOT VIA USB, AN ICON IN THE NETWORK PREFERENCE NAMED "IPHONE" APPEARS.... BUT NOW THIS IS NOT HAPPENING AND I AM NOT ABLE TO CONNECT PERSONAL HOTSPOT VIA USB CABLE. PLEASE HELP ME OUT???

Please don't shout!   Using all uppercase means shouting on the internet.  If your keyboard is stuck please say so, otherwise people will think you are being obnoxious.
Now the first question is, when you are saying connecting to personal hotspot, have you always been using the iPhone to connect to the internet?   Are you someplace where the only place to connect is available via tethering to the iPhone's celluar network?  Or do you have other options?

  • Help!  I need to have hotspots in a slideshow.

Okay, here is where I'm at, and I really need some help.  Background information: I have Flash CS4, but the tutorial I
used to create this used Action Script 2.0.
Here is a link to what I have...
    http://atleventguide.intuitwebsites.com/
Click on "inside this issue."  This is just a basic mockup of the site, but you can see that the client wants to have images of the pages of their publication that you can browse and have their advertising be clickable so it takes you to Coke's site for example.  The example you see there I did in Flash, but I was having trouble making the hotspots be active at the right time -- i.e. right now Morningside market is clickable even when the image is not up, and then it goes away and the hotspots I have on Coke aren't working.
The client also wants to have links to each page by number i.e. Front Cover/1-2/2-3.  So I saw that that part would be easy to do in Fireworks, but can't figure out the clickable aspect.  Then on the other hand, in Flash, I can't get it all to work either.
I'm stuck in the middle -- I can only get half of what I need to accomplished and can't figure out how to get it all.  Thanks so much if you have any advice!

Just like you should have different images for each frame, you should have different hotspots for each frame. When you place the same objects in adjacent frames the latter ones can inherit characteristics from the first ones.  To avoid hotspots losing their identity like this, alternate layers for them (two separate layers) so you can have blank keyframes between hotspots but not skip a frame.
As far as having buttons that go to different pages, just create the buttons and have their functions use gotoAndStop(#) commands, where # is the frame number for the section of the slideshow.

  • App will not download to iPad when purchased from App Store - stuck with Cloud icon

Device : iPad Air 32gb wi-fi model (not cellular data)
OS version : 7.1.1 (up to date)
    Location : UK
Problem : App will not download to iPad when purchased from App Store - stuck with Cloud icon
Last night I tried to download an app over wi-fi onto my iPad Air, but the app did not install.
I have plenty of space (the app is 24.1mb, I have 3.4gb free space) and there are no restrictions whatsoever on my iPad - no blocks on App store purchases, no age-related restrictions, no country restrictions etc.
Normally from the App Store page you would tap the price (in this case the app was free), enter your iTunes password, and the app would download.
Also a new icon appears on the home screen and a circle shows the progress of the download.
    However this did not happen.
Instead I have the Cloud icon (the one that shows when you have bought an app but it is not currently installed on your device) and a message that says "You've already purchased this, so it will be downloaded now at no additional cost".
If I press OK I am then prompted to enter my iTunes password, the Cloud symbol briefly changes to a circle (and I mean for a split-second, like the blink of an eye) and then the Cloud symbol appears again.
The app does not download - in fact it does not even *attempt* to download.
I have tried this >20 times now and it always occurs excatly like this.
After Googling this problem (which seems common) and reading over a dozen threads on this forum plus Apple's own official support pages, this is what I've tried:
I can re-download other apps that I have previously purchased on this iPad, with no problems.
I purchased another app on my iPhone 5 and was then able to download onto my iPad with no problems.
I have reset my iPad >5 times - both by pressing/holding the home/power buttons, and also a full switch off and restart.
I have logged out of my iTunes account on the iPad, and logged back in.
The wi-fi is Virgin Media fibre optic broadband with a verified speed of 20 meg (confirmed by Speedtest) plus an 802.11-n Belkin router and my iPad will happily load web pages, stream videos on YouTube, download other apps etc.
I have reset/rebooted my internet connection
In an attempt to eliminate by broadband connection from the possible causes, I have switched off my router, linked my iPad to the hotspot feature on my iPhone and tried to download the app over cellular data, but still cannot download the app.
I have tried on 2 other wi-fi networks but still cannot download this one app.
My iTunes account has a cerdit balance from an iTunes card, but the app was free anyway
Nothing I try will download the app in question.
The app is iPad only, so I cannot install on my iPhone to try and kick-start the process.
I guess I could install the app on my computer and then sync the iPad, but that's *working around* the problem - it's not *fixing* the problem.
(Since getting the iPad I use almost never use my computer. And anyway what if I did not have a computer? Didn't iOS go "PC-free" with version 5?)
I would like to call Apple but my 90-day telephone support has expired (the iPad is around 6 months old) and I don't want to buy Apple Care for this one problem.
I can't make it to an Apple Store to speak to a Genius.
Bearing in mind the list of things I've already tried, what do I do next?
Thanks in advance for any support.

    Hi there.
Thank you very much for your quick reply, it's really appreciated.
No need to apologize, I actually found the phrase "If your iPad ever craps the bed" amusing under the circumstances
I checked the list of installed apps like you suggested (Settings>General>Usage>Storage>Show all apps) but this problem app is not in the list. I have also swiped down on the home screen to search for it, but again it does not show.
While it has not let me download the app (and I just tried it again) it has helped me to eliminate a few things from the list of what to try, and I can definitely conclude that it has not downloaded.
I guess I need to fire up my PC and download it / sync my iPad.
    Thanks again for your help

  • Firmware Update for HP Hotspot Laserjet Pro m1218nfs through Linux Mint

    Hi,
I have tried as many permutations & combinations as possible to fix this, but I am not able to do so.
I run Linux Mint 16 KDE.
I have the latest HPLIP Tool installed & working in my system.
I tried connecting the MFP via USB as well as Wi Fi - printer DOES CONNECT to the system using both methods - I tried Printing the test page, which was succesful.
However, i get the error "No internet connection" when I try to Enable the HP e-Print via the Web interface of the Printer.
The supposed solution for this as I saw across the internet fora, was to upgrade the Printer firmware.
My Printer firmware is dated 20130211. Whereas the latest available is 20130930.
When I went to the drivers download page on HP, I was asked to select my Printer model & the OS.
I selected both & was redirected to the HPLIP site to download the drivers. However, there was no Firmware upgrade tool available.
A bit more researching led me to try the command "hp-firmware" in my Command line box in Linux Mint 16 - this command is meant to upgrade the Printer to the latest firmware.
However, on running the command, I get the error "No devices that support firmware download found".
I tried these things via USB as well as Wi Fi. I tried changing the Preferred DNS too, as mentioned in some other HP Help Topics. I tried turning the HP Hotspot On/Off as well.
To sum up, it seems that I am in a loop. I am not able to use the e-Print function for lack of Firmware upgrade. And I am not able to upgrade the firmware for some totally unkown reasons.
Please someone help me break the loop somewhere, so that I can start using e-Print.

    Hi @Brent0341,
I read your post and see that the printer's display is stuck on a blue screen with the HP logo. I will certainly do my best to help you.
I can send you the correct reset for the printer in a private message.
In the forum beside your handle name just click on the envelope to view it.
If you appreciate my efforts, please click the Thumbs up button below.
Thank You. I look forward to hearing from you.
Please click “Accept as Solution ” if you feel my post solved your issue, it will help others find the solution.
Click the “Kudos Thumbs Up" on the right to say “Thanks” for helping!

  • Get Stuck in Webutil1.0.6  Configuration & Installation..

    Dear All Experts,
I m trying to configure and Install webutil1.0.6 on Oracle Developer Suit (9.0.4) in
Windows XP Professional having the browser Internet explorer 6.0.
I have done almost all the steps mentioned in Runtime Setup Checklist (Appendix A)
in “Webutil User’s Guide Release 1.0.6” . Except Step 9 Configure your webutil.cfg file.
    Have a look at my default.env & formsweb.cfg files.
    default.env
    # $Id: win32_os_default.env,v 1.5 2003/10/02 18:42:24 pkuhn Exp $
    # default.env - default Forms environment file, Windows version
    # This file is used to set the Forms runtime environment parameters.
    # If a parameter is not defined here, the value in the Windows registry
    # will be used. If no value is found in the registry, the value used will
    # be that defined in the environment in which the servlet engine (OC4J
    # or JServ) was started.
    # NOTES
    # 1/ The Forms installation process should replace all occurrences of
    # <percent>FORMS_ORACLE_HOME<percent> with the correct ORACLE_HOME
    # setting, and all occurrences of <percent>O_JDK_HOME<percent> with
    # the location of the JDK (usually $ORACLE_HOME/jdk).

  • Stuck Threads Leading to server hang

    Hi ,
We have been facing a problem with Stuck Threads in our production environment. We are currently running version 8.1. Though the stuck Threads do point to JDBC issues, we suspect that these problems may be related to some Weblogic/OS configuration issue as well. These probelms eventually lead to a server hang.
The general pattern of the problem is that we see messages like :
    Dec 24, 2006 8:56:09 AM EST> <Debug> <Common> <BEA-000610> < RP(rtqdbConnectionPool):timeoutInactiveRes (20)>
    ####<Dec 25, 2006 8:54:51 AM EST> <Error> <WebLogicServer> <hygeia> <hygeia-rtq-vm7> <weblogic.health.CoreHealthMonitor> <<WLS Kernel>> <> <BEA-000337> <UNKNOWN_SESSION has been busy for "896" seconds working on the request "Http Request: /quote.do", which is more than the configured time (StuckThreadMaxTime) of "600" seconds.> ==================== This email/fax message is for the sole use of the intended
Sometimes a deadlock Exception would be thrown from the Database,
nested exception is java.sql.SQLException: ORA-00060: deadlock detected while waiting for resource
But this is not as often as we get the Stuck Thread messages.
This is a typical Thread dump from one of our servers when it complained of a stuck thread.

    Hi,
I guess this issue is related to your connectivity and hyperion services. Can you take a restart and try to execute the reports. Also try to check all your Hyperion services are up and running before executing the FR Reports. You can also check the Reporting services by login to Weblogic server (if you have applied it in your environment). In weblogic it should be in Running mode and not in Admin mode. If it is not in Running mode then try to check the Data Source setting from Connection Pool in Weblogic Server.

  • Java Server0 stuck in starting apps state

    Dear All,
My J2EE server was up and running, since last 2 days the Java stack [ more importantly the Server0 process] is down (showing yellow in the MMC), the SDM is running, the JAVA dispatcher is running , but the Server0 process is stuck in starting apps phase. I checked the Oracle tablespaces and found that Oracle SAPSR3DB was only 1%, so we increased the same.
When we restarted the ABAP+JAVA stack we again found that our Java Server0 process is yellow phase , our SDM is running, the JAVA dispatcher is running , but the Server0 process starts and then moves to starting framework phase and then gets stuck in the starting apps phase.
My ABAP part is running fine.
On Checking the developer trace for this server 0 process , it says that JLaunchISetState is changing the state from starting application [2] to starting applications [10] where is gets stuck.Have also gone through the latest log files in the J2ee/cluster/server0/log, but could not find any error .
I have tried waiting for long durations, but this has not resolved the issue. The RAM size is 3.5 GB and virtual memory is 12 GB.doesnt reveal any error. Also tried to increase the instance heap size via the config tool [ current value is 1024 , tried changing the value to 2048 , restarted cluster , but same issue again , so reverted back to old value].The OS is windows 2003 server , DB-Oracle 10g.This is a NW2004s stack on which PI 7.0 has been activated.
Have also checked and found all J2EE users i.e. j2ee_admin, J2ee_guest, sapjsf, and all PI related super users unlocked.
Also all DB schema users were found to be unlocked. Also tried increasing the number of threads in the thread manager in config tool.
Also tried increasing the enque/table_space value to 4 times of RAM, but no change in problem.
Checked values of VM parameters, everything seems to be fine.

  • Huge data usage with Verison 4G LTE hotspot ( Verizon-890L-50DB)

Recently upgraded my internet service to a Verizon 4G LTE hotspot (Verizon-890L-50DB).  First month - no problems - second month - I have 6GB of overage charges.  Every time I log in to check email or any other minimal data usage task, I get hit with another GB or more of download usage.  My computer is an HP Pavilion Laptop, Windows 7 with NETWORX installed.  Networx tells me it is indeed MY computer that is downloading this data and my hard drive is also showing the increases in data.
I've run AVG, Glary Utilities, Speedy PC PRO and Spybot Search and Destroy but found no virus, rootkit or anything on my computer that would explain this problem.
When I use a different wireless internet service, I do NOT see the extraneous data usage.
I contacted Verizon's support team and got no help diagnosing the problem but they did agree to send a replacement for my hotspot device.  Hopefully this fixes the issue; then I have to battle with them about the unwarranted $60 or more in overage charges.
Has anyone else experienced a problem similar to this?

I would recomend getting out of the contract before the 14 day trial period ends.   Verizon will charge you an activation fee, restocking fee and one months service, but that is better than being stuck with this mess.  I have homefusion and am afraid to use since verizon seems to fabricate data usage.  Unfortunately I did not realize this untill after the 14 day trial.  Now is will cost me $350 to terminate my contract.

Exactly the same thing has happened to me.  I purchased the Verizon Jetpack™ 4G LTE Mobile Hotspot 890L two days ago.  After one day, I had supposedly used half the 5GB monthly allowance.  After two days, I am at 4.25 GB usage.  I don't stream movies, I have the hotspot password protected, I live alone, and no one else uses my computer.  I have not downloaded any large files.  At this rate, I'll go broke soon.

  • How many Samsung Stratosphere users do not have reliable network connectivity using hotspot or tethering?

I am on my 3rd phone in as little as 9 months because I have never been able to stay on the network using the hotspot or tethering. The network keeps disappearing and coing back on. I am in a 4 g area and right across the street from a main Verizon store. My antennae strength is full and my 4g indicator is on but it disappears so much that I cannot rely on network service with my phone. I actually went out and purchased a 4g aircard and that works just fine so I know its the phone and not the network. Its funny I keep getting put back into this phone when its the phone that has the problem. My salesman said after the 3rd phone you will be upgraded to the next best phone so hopefully Motorola Driod 4 will be the key top reliable network connectivity. I wish I knew how widespread this is or has been. I realize not a majority of Stratosphere users probably dont use the hotspot or tethering much but I use it or try to on a daily basis. I love the phone but not the hotspot or tethering capabilities. My newest phone never got any new apps or anything put on and it had problems outta the box.

This phone SUCKS period.  I have only had it since July 27 and it has NEVER worked well.  I was never told (of course other than small print) that I had two weeks to return and get a totally different phone if not happy. So the 15th day I found that out. They pulled my sim card it worked better for about one week. Than back to crap.  So, I did a factory reset as they told me to. It worked for about another 2 weeks maybe. Now back to the same old thing again.  Drops calls ALL THE TIME with full network strength I can here them they cannot here. Goes back to factory defaults all the time. Starts not ringing and going only into voice mail. Freezes up where you cannot even shut off, you have to take the battery out. Also, constantly loses connectivity even though it is showing 4G and all bars too.
Went in again to discuss this with them just today.  HMM, first, if you go back to comolaints this has been a main complaint of this phone for a huge percentage of customers.  Hmm, they are still selling it as a GREAT phone, that is what they said to me, ohhhh, no problems.  Today they looked it up and supposabley says Samsung as of July 30th is aware of this problem and now has 90 days to fix it.  Current fix. They SAY, pull the battery out EVERY night.  Stuck with phone will not replace with a different model. Only same model. SUCKS...Oh and Verizon rep says to me " we are only the cell service. All warranty's are through your Samsung."  Funny thing is. WHY are they still selling it on their shelf.  I feel like sending a spy into tomorrow to same store and find out if they push the phone on them...BUSTED, I am sure they will.  Meanwhile, it sure puts bumps in the road for our livelyhood if our only phone.  Not work the retail value, so not buying my own phone to replace YET.
Good luck....Hopefully your third time is the charm and you will finally get a replacement for this Piece of CRAP.
