"Hotspot login could not open the page because the network connection was lost"
So, I've been trying to connect to the login for our school's wifi for a while now, but instead of like going into the sign in spot where you accept the terms of use agreement for our wifi, the pop up screen says "Hotspot loging could not open the page because the network connection was lost". This is on my iPod touch 2nd Generation, and I've never had this problem before, but it popped up like 4-5 weeks ago, and I haven't been able to log in since. Anybody else solve this problem/ have it and could give me advice on how to solve it? That would be great, thanks and see you fellow Applers later!!
1. Double-click the Home button to reveal Task Bar at bottom
2. Hold the Safari app down for a second or two until you see the minus sign
3. Tap the minus sign to close app
4. Re-launch the app and test
Note: If necessary close all apps in the Task Bar

Safari could not open this page because the server stopped responding
Since upgrading to 4.2 I get this message a lot even though the page loads anyway:
"safari could not open this page because the server stopped responding"Have you Checked your firewall setting(of both windows and of the Anti Virus).
I was Having the same Problem, and tried everything from the Internet, then i realised that firewall can mess things up and so i immediately TURNED OFF the firewall and restarted my Network and my Ipod ....THE INTERNET WORKED
i am using win vista and McAfee.
want to add few more things:
1> adjusting brightness has nothing to do with Networking.
2> Multiplayer/online games also get into problem due to antivirus firewall(AVG anitvirus specially.....Disabling firewall or setting it to permit the Device/program to access Internet WORKS)
3>to know if the problem is with the Idevice or with the System, try connecting other devices to that netwrk, if non of them connect then its the problem with the System/Network/OS and not with the Device........Resetting you Idevice again and again will not Solve the problem.

I am trying to import developed images from LightRoom 5 Photoshop 6 for further editing. I am receiving this message and the images will not open.....'Could not open scratch file because the file is locked, or you do not have necessary access permissions or another program is using the file. Use the 'Properties' command in the Windows Explorer to unlock the file. How do I fix this? I would greatly appreciate it if you would respond with terms and procedures that a computer ignorant user, such as me, will understand. Thanks.
Have you tried restoring the Preferences yet?

could not open scratch file because the file is locked or you do not have the necessary access rights.
It means what it says: Check your file permissions on your scratch disk.

I have just brought office 365 and it is telling me to mange my accout to ba able to download the office app bit it keeps telling me the server has stopped responding. What is the next move?
Usually it's because you are not making internet connection via wifi.
Look at iOS Troubleshooting Wi-Fi networks and connections http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1398
iPad: Issues connecting to Wi-Fi networks http://support.apple.com/kb/ts3304
Additional things to try.
Try this first. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
Change the channel on your wireless router. Instructions at http://macintoshhowto.com/advanced/how-to-get-a-good-range-on-your-wireless-netw ork.html

"could not open scratch file because disc is not available"
Help. I am running a new photoshop CS5 (12.0.4) on a new I-mac running 10.7.1
The program seem to load and authorize correctly but when I try to open it I get 2 sequential error statements
"could not open scratch file because the disc is not available"; then
"could not initialize photoshop because the disc is not available"
Where do I start?Hi,
having the same problem here. We have 10 Mac Pro machines with OSX 10.6.8 and CS5 Photoshop 12.0.4. By now five of these machines have given the same error: "could not open scratch file because disc is not available" and "could not save ... because of a program error".
The scratch disk is the same one which has the system and it hasn't been touched.
I have repaired the disk permissions.
This just started two days ago and haven't noticed it before. Any clues what could be causing this?
Thanks,
Janne -

Does the iPod connect to other networks OK?
Do other devices now connect and work OK?
Try:
- Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Power off and then back on the router
- Reset network settings: Settings>General>Reset>Reset Network Settings
- iOS: Troubleshooting Wi-Fi networks and connections
- iOS: Recommended settings for Wi-Fi routers and access points
- Restore from backup. See:
iOS: How to back up
- Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
- Make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store.

When I turn on my Ipad and click on Safari it says Safari could not open the page because the server stopped responding.but I can get on internet with Google Chrome. What is the problem and how can I repair it?
Found the answer in the more like this panel and now working. Thanks.
But have 3 updates waiting in Apps but it is taking ages to update them and cannot get onto Apps by clicking Apps on the desktop.screen. -
When I search for stuff on the internet it says safari could not open the page because the server stopped responding and non of my games work either. What do I do to fix this?
Settings → scroll down to Safari → in Safari settings, I selected both Clear History and Clear Cookies and Data.
IF that does not work -
Restart or reset your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support
Finally - if problem still present -
Go to Settings>General>Reset
Reset the network settings - you will need to add the password of your home WiFi in your phone once more
The device should turn itself off & back on then go into Settings>Wifi and join your network -
My iPad2 will not connect to the internet, "Safari could not open the page because the server stopped responding". I've run the AirPort utility and it shows that I'm connected to my Wi-Fi. The connection works with both my iMac and iPhone. I'm concerned that the problem is with hardware rather than software.
Try the following:
1. Turn router off for 30 seconds and on again
2. Settings>General>Reset>Reset Network Settings
3. Reset iPad; hold the Sleep and Home button down until you see the Apple Logo -
Hello - my safari on my ipad2 gives the following message "safari could not open the page because the server stopped responding"...email works fine and I can download from the app store...seems to just be a safari issue
Marc-
The Safari message is probably telling the truth. Is the problem repeatable at several websites, or is it only with a particular one? If all websites, you may have trouble with your internet connection downloading large amounts of data. Mail messages are relatively small unless there are attachments or embedded images.

I cannot acces Safari (for the past three days) A message shows 'Safari could not open the page because the server stopped responding. How can I rectify this?
Well, you are accessing Safari. It's just that there's a page it's trying to access on the web, one that you last used, and that website is not available. When looking at the dead page in Safari, tap the lower right icon to shrink down the page and then tap the "x" to get rid of it. You can then try going to another site.
