Hotspot not working in Captivate 5

Hello all -
Working on a project with a hotspot quiz slide and when clicked the prompt(s) for correct or incorrect does not display when the hotspot is clicked. There's a similiar hotspot quiz question in another project that was set up identical to this one that works properly and has all the same attributes. I'm not entirely sure what other information to share here in order to get a response that helps resolve the issue but please find a screen shot in the post.
What is used in the project is a .png image.

BSNL is not a supported carrier. Personal Hotspot requires carrier support and provisioning of the account to enable it. iOS 7.1 disabled the ability to manually configure Personal Hotspot on unsupported carriers.

Again it's not a bug, use a supported carrier if you want Personal Hotspot.
Read the list one more time, if carrier is not on the list, IOS7.1 patch the loophole.

I was having this problem (iphone 5 wouldn't work as hotspot for my PC laptop) and had tried everything suggested on these message boards, so I finally went to the Apple Genius Bar and they fixed it for me. Here's what they did:
1) Turned the Hotspot off on my iphone
2) Went to the Control Panel on my laptop to "Network and Internet" > "Network and Sharing Center" > "Manage Wireless Networks" (on the left navigation panel) and deleted my iphone from the list of WiFi connections I've attempted.
3) Flipped the manual WiFi switch on my laptop to Off and then back On again (to reset it)
4) Turned the Hotspot on my iphone back on
After that, when I tried to connect, it worked. Hope this works for someone else.

I'm installing Websphere Application Server 4.1 in Sun Solaris version 9 (5.9), I have preinstall Java version : java version "1.4.0_00" Java(TM) 2 Runtime Environment, Standard Edition (build 1.4.0_00-b05) Java HotSpot(TM) Client VM (build 1.4.0_00-b05, mixed mode).
Then show the message: Cannot create Virtual Machine, HotSpot not working, review install JDK 1.2 Solaris Production Release.

IBM WebSphere will not run with any VM other than the IBM Runtime Environment which comes supplied with WebSphere itself. Just a warning, this VM is not 1.4 compatible, IBM are possibly making a 1.4 VM available at the end of this year.

Self-Paced Learning - Bookmark not working in Captivate 5

I followed the directions of adding a Table of Contents to one of my captivate projects and selecting Self-Paced Learning in order to create a bookmark but this does not work. I have saved it as Adobe Flash 9 and Adobe Flash 10 but I am not getting the message about starting where I left off when either refreshing the browser or exiting and going back in. What am I missing?

All slides in the presentation are marked as continue. I have gone
through the first 5 slides and when I refresh the browser or exit out of
Internet Explorer and open the project again it just starts at the
beginning.

How did you check: after uploading to a LMS?
You have to be aware of the fact that a slide will be marked as 'viewed'
only when the playbar has played the whole slide till the end. If you do
pause slides with a click box, button, TEB and attach the action 'Go to
Next slide' or something similar instead of the default action 'Continue'
this will not happen and the slide will not be marked as completed.

VTML-Tags for text-to-speech do not work in Captivate 6 - are they working in Cap. 7 again?

I had a hart time to find out, that the functionality was "forgotten" to be programmed in the version 6.
Together with Neospeech I worked long to make single voices work in full functionality and it cost additional licence fee... unfortunately the voices sound tinny so I cannot really use them...and due to different time zones it is hard to find the error together with Neospeech
Now I see that Captivate 7 is available.
Is there already qualified info if the vtml tags work again like they did in older versions?
Adobe Support hotline was NO HELP at all, very unfriendly... only idea was, that I should get the test version and find out myself, pretty impertinent.

You might already know this, but stating it here to rule out the simple failure cases.
I have had a similar problem in the past using VTML tags inside Captivate. I used to type the slidenotes in my favorite editor and then copy paste the text from there to the slidenotes panel of Captivate. Turns out that my editor was using Unicode and hence the entire text pasted into Captivate slidenotes became unicode text, including the VTML markers. Though the pasted text "looked" fine the markers were messed up (for example, the double quotes around the value attributes looked like double quotes but they were actually multibyte unicode sequences) and this confused Neospeech. The output audio would be funny (for example it would read "Less Than...V...T...M...L...") or NeoSpeech will crash taking down Captivate along with it.
The fix was quite simple. I started typing the slide notes from within Captivate slide notes panel and everything worked fine after that. Alternately I could type in my favorite editor (after making sure that it is operating in Plain text mode) and then copy paste work flow also worked fine.
Another common mistake (at least, I do that often) is to select the speech agent from the drop down at the top of the dialog and forgetting to choose the speech agents for individual slide notes, which may still be referring to a non-neo-speech agent which does not understand the VTML tags.
No other software tool was required like the German Adobe Support team may have mentioned. I am using Captivate 7.

Mobile Hotspot not working after upgrading to 4.4.2

My husband and I have identical Motorola phones. He let his upgrade to Android 4.4.2 over a month ago. Since then, his Mobile Hotspot cannot be used to connect to our home PC. If you use your mobile hotspot, DO NOT LET IT UPGRADE!!!!!!!!
Three visits to local Verizon store, more than 50 power-off's (many of them soft boots), a long phone call to Verizon support. Still not working. Except once two weeks ago for several hours, then failed again. About a week ago,our HP laptop started connecting to the Hotspot, but the desktop cannot. My hotspot (which is fortunately still running 4.1.2) provides internet access just fine. Strange new symptom last week: once the laptop has connected to the 4.4.2 Hotspot, the desktop can as well. Sigh. Verizon offered to replace his phone under warranty, but the new one is expected to arrive with the latest version. I am not optimistic about that. Others must be having the same problem. Perhaps not as desperate as us because it is our only internet service at our rural home. We are still paying full price for our plan, but do not have the service. And, we have spent literally a hundred hours trying to debug this. Come on, Verizon, this needs to be fixed!

Click boxes and buttons not working in Captivate 3 published projects

I really, really, hope that someone can help me...
we are migrating from Centra/Saba LMS to Connect Pro LMS and while taking our "old" SCORM projects and posting them to the Connect Pro server we have encountered an issue...and the reason it's very hard to trouble shoot is that it's not all of the projects....??
Once a project is pulished none of the buttons or click boxes are working - for instance we use a play button on the frist slide for students to enter the course - you click it nothing happens (except when you mouse over the button it does change color)...same with the click boxes - I can use the progress bar to move froward but anything I click just doesn't respond...
Has anyone encountered this? and I hope know something we can do?

Do your published projects work outside of your LMS?
Or is it just inside the new LMS that it isn't working?
Usually buttons and click boxes not working is because your slides are pausing before the button becomes active.
What version of Captivate and Flash are you using?

Accessibility options not working in Captivate 7

I need help. I can't get my project to in captivate 7 to be accessible. I've tried testing on JAWs and for some odd reason it seems like the enable accessbility is not working cause everything is messed up when I test on JAWs. Is their anybody that would be willing to help me look at my file?

What, exactly, do you mean by "messed up"? There are certain things that do and do not work in JAWS, and you need to build to the limitations of the screen reader see this link for a list: Jaws and Cp 7.01.237 - not BFFs? Beyond that, there are workarounds, depending on what exactly is messed up. If you can detail the issues, maybe I can help you get on the right path.

Personal hotspot not working in windows after hiberation

At times after I recover my PC from hiberation, personal hotspot for my PC to surf web thru my iphone will no longer function. But charging and sync with iTunes will still be functioning. The only way to get personal hotspot to work again is to reboot my PC. This is really frustrating as Windows takes a long time to reboot.
Thus, may I know what is or are the service(s) required by the personal hotspot to work? I can simply restart the service instead of rebooting windows instead.

I have a similar problem with the hotspot on my iPhone 4 after updating to iOS7.1 and the trouble shooting doesnt help.
Initially after updating my iphone 4 to iOS7.1 I could turn on the "personal hotspot" and it appeared to work but if a computer joined the network it could not connect to the internet.
yesterday however I removed and reinserted the sim card (to check the balance on another sim card) and now the personal hotspot does not work at all.
When I try to enter the APN details for my cellular provider it disappears when I exit the "Cellular Data Network" page and the "Personal Hotspot" tab shows busy for a while then becomes "Set Up Personal Hotspot" which if pressed tells me to contact the carrier.
Is something wrong with the new iOS or is this a carrier problem - I never had a problem before installing iOS7 and the carrier information works perfectly on my friends iphone 4s on iOS7 - or is this something I need to take up with the carrier. There doesnt seem to be anything wrong with the APN address on other devices (or before the update) and there is no problem with the internet connection on the phone.

Swf with external .as files not working in Captivate

Hello,
I am using Flash Professional CS5.5 & Captivate 5.5 (purchased with eLearning suite).
When I insert swf animations into Captivate that have external .as files they do not work.
Tried both insert animation & insert animation slide - same results.
I placed the .as files in the same file as my Captivate project and have tried multiple setting options.
The FPS are set to 30.
I had the same problem with external audio files and had to embed the audio into my fla to get it to play in Captivate.
Does Captivate just not allow external files?
Any help/insight is appreciated!!

The most likely reason for this failure is that since your SWF is now embedded into another SWF (the Captivate project) the paths to the AS files need to be altered in Flash to allow for this.
You need to investigate how this would be done in AS code if your Flash SWF was a symbol inside another Flash SWF.

CS6 polygon hotspot not working

I have recently upgraded from CS5 to CS6 and have just tried to use CS6 to create a polygon hotspot (which works fine in CS5).
Unfortunately when I try to create even a simple (not within a <div>) imagemap this way with CS6 casues a problem yet creating a rectangle or circle is no problem at all.
When I try to create a polygon, I get the pop up window which asks to describe the image map. Click ok on that and then add another point but thats when it fails. Trying to add another point after that starts trying to create a new region entirely. So with a polygon shape, it will only allow you to add 2 poiints,
Is there a fix for this at all please?

My problem is that I cannot replicate your problem. I can create the most horrible looking hotspot without even a sputter from Dreaweaver as you can see
After the first co-ordinate I did have to enter the link and alt text, then continue with the rest of the links. Oh, and I am using DWCS6 Version 12.2 Build 6006

Hotspot Not Working on Z10 After Software Release 10.3.1.1565

Since the last update of OS Ver 10.3.1.1565 hotspot on my Z10 is not working and every time I try to connect receive a message, "Regulations in This Country Prohibit Mobile Hotspot Usage"
I am using Warid Telecom (Pakistan) LTE connection and after shifting to LTE hotspot was working but since the last OS update problem started.
A friend of mine using BB Z3 and he also received and updated the same OS update but his hotspot is working, just checked yesterday.
What could be the possibel issue and solution?

First, let me just say I don't think it's worth the trouble. This is where the OS is headed. If you downgrade, you make yourself vulnerable to the FREAK web attacks and lose many useful upgrades.
However, if you just can't live with it I'd downgrade using an autoloader:

Once it's reloaded then you can restore the backup you have. Again, I don't think it's worth it but it's your call. I recommend making a backup now, in case you decide later it was a mistake and want to upgrade again and want your data back.
