Hotspot options for Ipad2 Wifi

I am very confused.
Before purchasing the ipad2 i did the search about the tethering trough iphone 4 (AT&T) and I read that I could use iphone as hotspot. I contacted AT&T 3 different times (chat, over the phone, at the store) and they tell me that I cannot use iphone 4 tethering to have my ipad 2 get connected on the net. I don't understand why the other device can be connected through iphone 4 but not ipad 2.
I am looking for the other options for me to get the internet connection with ipad 2. Or if anyone has the success tethering through iphone 4.
I have CLEAR but they don't have the app I believe so I cannot connect. I am thinking about canceling that.
I am a bit disappointed as I thought it wouldn't be as complicating as it is.

Check this thread.  It begins with Verizon, but someone discusses ATT's tether plan, and how you can lose the grandfathered unlimited plan.

Siri does Not work on the iPad 2.  iOS 7 is not even out yet, so we have no way of knowing if you'll be able to upgrade to it.

  • 3G Options for iPad2 only WiFi model

    Mates,
Further digging out for better solution for only WiFi iPad2 model for 3G, found:
    http://www.91mobiles.com/blog/8173/Tips+to+turn+your+Wi+Fi+only+iPad+to+iPad+3G. html
    And
    http://www.bgr.in/guide/best-mobile-add-on/
says "Mi-Fi device or a travel Wi-Fi routers are capable of accessing 3G broadband network and sharing the same internet connection"
Steps to configure Olive Nexus Travel router with 3G USB modem
The steps to configure is pretty straight-forward. Do not look at the instruction manual that accompanies the product as it seems to be little outdated. The PDF manual provided on the site is pretty accurate and do follow that.
Step1: Switch on the travel router
Step2: Open the web browser and type in the url: http://192.168.123.254
Step3: Type “admin” as the password. This is the default password.
    Step4: Click “Wizard” step
    Step5: Setup new password
    Step6: Setup Timezone
Step7: Choose WAN Type. If you are using 3G USB modem, choose “Some ISPs require the use of 3G to connect to their services”.
Step8: In this step, type in the details of your USB Modem such as Dialled number, Account username and account password.
    Step9: Enable Wireless Module.
Step10: Setup Wireless security and WEP Keys.
Step11: Confirm and apply the wireless settings. Now your Travel router is successfully configured with your 3G USB modem.
Comments will be appreciate on this, any experience..reliability..etc..

  • 3g connection for ipad2 wifi

Hi can anyone help?before i start i am no comp tech so please dont woffle tech terms or i shall be lost lol ! i have bought hubby ipad2 wifi for his birthday ( saved as hard as i could but couldnt afford 3g version ) how can he connect when there is no wifi available?he hasnt got an iphone so cant run through the data allowance on that but i wondered if there is any devices? it ok when he is in his hotel but during the day he is out and about in his car and cant always find a wifi hotspot !!hope there is a solution :-) thanks

You can get mifi devices which take a sim card and act as a mobile hotspot. I don't know what country that you are in, but have a look in your country's carriers stores for 'mifi' or 'mobile internet' and see if they have anything available - those that need to be plugged into USB ports (e.g. for use on laptops) won't work with the iPad as it doesn't have a USB port.

  • Personal hotspot option for iPad 2

Does iPad 2 have personal hotspot option and if so how do I get it?

Only if you have a wifi+cellular model and the data provider supports hotspot capability on your rate plan.

  • Printing options for ipad2 to hp oj 100 mobile

How can the iPad 2 connect to my Hp oj 100 via bluetooth

Thanks for the reply. I keep hoping I would come up with a solution to this sick joke! So the ipad has bluetooth only on their products and no one elses, am I understanding this right?  For the record I did observe a android tablet print directly to this printer with no problems! I am VERY disappointed with this product! Hope Mr Gates will forgive me!

  • My htc-phone provides internet facility through cable/blue-tooth to my windows notebook. It does not have a wifi or hotspot facility.  Can the same internet through blue-tooth work for ipad2.

My htc-phone provides internet facility through cable/blue-tooth to my windows notebook. My htc-phone does not have a wifi or hotspot facility.  Can the same internet through blue-tooth work for ipad2?

No, the bluetooth profile in the iPad does not provide that
capacity. Can your netbook be a wifi transmitter? If yes,
you can connect to the internet via htc-phone and pass
the connection to the netbook which will connect via wifi
to iPad. I am not familiar with the hardware in netbooks nor
the capabilities of Windows, so what I am suggesting looks
good in theory but the reality may not allow it. Still worth
    checking into.

  • Where is option to "disconnect wifi clients" from personal hotspot?

According to this Apple Knowledge Base article, there should be an option in Settings > Wifi to "disconnect wifi clients" who are connected to the iPhone via personal hotspot: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4517
I do not see that in the Settings. I am on an iPhone 4, iOS 5.01, AT&T. Does anyone else see this? Was it removed in an iOS update? The KB article says it was updated December 14, 2011, so it should be pretty current.

I too was looking for it and it's. It in my iPhone 4 AT&T 5.0.1 Perhaps it's not in this firmware update, in another location or apple decided to axe this option.
Perhaps they reason that if you're going to disconnect all users, and leaving wifi sharing on was redundant as the wifi will cease to hotspot after 90 seconds anyways, it probably saves battery life... I dunno all I can think of.

  • Wifi - Hotspot option Gone!

    Hi,
I recently faced a problem in my BB Curve 9320, wherein there was no sound playin in the fone for anything. Including media player, incoming calls, alarms etc. I got a software update from one of the registered vendors. However, after that update the 'wifi-hotspot' option in my phone has disappeared.
Can anyone please tell me how to get back that. I tried software update again but I already have the latest OS.
    Please help!!

    Hello shailendrasadh,
    Welcome to the forums.
When you installed the software update did you get the software from the original service provider for this device?

  • HT4623 I haven't got an option for software update? How can I update my ipad2

I haven't got an option for software update? How can I update my ipad2 to ios5.1

If you have an iPad 1, the max iOS is 5.1.1. For newer iPads, the current iOS is 6.1. The Settings>General>Software Update only appears if you have iOS 5.0 or higher currently installed.

If you are currently running an iOS lower than 5.0, connect the iPad to the computer, open iTunes. Then select the iPad under the Devices heading on the left, click on the Summary tab and then click on Check for Update.
Tip - If connected to your computer, you may need to disable your firewall and anitvirus software temporarily.  Then download and install the iOS update. Be sure and backup your iPad before the iOS update. After you update an iPad (except iPad 1) to iOS 6.x, the next update can be installed via wifi (i.e., not connected to your computer).

  • Ipad2 wifi-only with non-Apple mobile phones as hotspots

Does the Ipad2 wifi-only work with Nokia E-7 as hotspot / Are there any reasons or restriction from Apple side that make such set-up with a non-Apple mobile device impossible? Thanks

I use my Samsung Mesmerize phone as a Wi-fi hot spot and I have no problem what so ever with it, it works great at my moms so we can FaceTime with my sister!  I used to pay AT&T extra for 3G, but you can't FaceTime using 3G, you have to have a Wi-fi connection, and my phone works great with it!  Plus, I don't have to pay extra for it, I never use my full 5 GB data plan.

  • What is the best option for tethering my IPhone 4s with my iPad? (the iPad is wifi only)

What is the best option for tethering my IPhone 4s with my iPad? (the iPad is wifi only)

#1. Understand that if you switch carriers, you can NOT take your existing iPhone with you. It won't work. You will need to purchase a new one.
#2. Your only choices are Sprint and Verizon. Decide who has the better coverage in your area. Keep in mind that you will NOT be able to get simultaneous voice and 3G data on either of these, as their CDMA networks do not support it. The U.S. T-Mobile network is not supported and is not fully compatible with the iPhone as it operates on a rarely used frequency compared to the rest of the world.
#3. What in the world are "niners"? Do you mean you want to be able to keep your existing "phone numbers"? If so, that should be no problem. Most numbers in the US are now portable.
#4. Consider WHY you want to switch. If the issue is really price, you're not going to see much of a difference. A few dollars a month at best for comparable voice and data plans.

    Try #5.
    Some things to try first:
    1. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord for 30 seconds or longer) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
    2. Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.
    3. Change the channel on your wireless router (Auto or Channel 6 is best). Instructions at http://macintoshhowto.com/advanced/how-to-get-a-good-range-on-your-wireless-netw ork.html
    4. Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.
    5.  Renew IP Address: (especially if you are droping internet connection)
        •    Launch Settings app
        •    Tap on Wi-Fi
        •    Tap on the blue arrow of the Wi-Fi network that you connect to from the list
        •    In the window that opens, tap on the Renew Lease button
