HotSpot question between carriers...

Your using your iPhone as a HotSpot busy browsing and downloading from the web...your in a middle of a download when someone calls...youre already cut off from your download, then you cant decide if your taking that call or continue with your download hoping it wont start from the begining...this is on Verizon...
On ATT you can just turn on the speaker phone and still continue web browsing right?

AT&T doesn't yet have the Hotspot feature, but in theory - yes, as a GSM iPhone allows simultaneous voice and data whereas a CDMA iPhone does not.

  • Smartform as Button in Hotspot Question - Captivate 8

If I add a Smartform as Button to an Hotspot Question, the Button seems to have no function.
The Button is not in the Hotspotarea, it is outside.
I created several Buttons with different actions attached to it but nothing works.

Shape buttons can be used on most question slides, but not on Hotspot Questions. My suspicion is that because Hotspot needs clicks in places, that the whole slide is reserved for possible clickable hotspots. And because Question slide objects are always on top of any other object, the shape button can not function. Even if you limit clicks only on Hotspots. Sorry, nothing for question slides has changed in CP8, was the same in CP7.

  • Hotspot question / problem

My problem is i got all the pictures hotspots and their links to work in browser preview but not in any where else i dont want to upload it as a lay out or anything i just want it uploaded to my photobucket or tinypic etc for my myspace profile so my question is how do i make the links work on photobucket and myspace i know it can be done cuz i seen uploaded clickable pictures in photobucket on profiles

A .swf file is a Flash file. A Flash files is not simply an image and can contain active code, such as monitoring mouse position and launching a Web page when the mouse is clicked within a certain area. That's what you need to create, then.
If you have Flash, and know how to use it, then that's your better choice. Fireworks can export graphics and animations in Flash format, but I don't know if it will maintain the linking action. I guess it's worth a try. Open Help in the program, search for flash and read, "Exporting Fireworks graphics and animations as SWF files."
If that doesn't work, and you know you can produce the result you want from Photoshop, then maybe the better option would be to figure out how to do it again.

  • Question about carrying a MacBook

I am a brand-new Mac user, and new to laptops (er, notebooks) as well. I have kind of a silly question- can one transport one's notebook in sleep mode? or does it have to be shut down?
    Thanks.
    macbook   Mac OS X (10.4.7)

I don't carry it around when it is sleeping, but it can be done. Just make sure that it IS sleeping before you put it in your bag and/or case. If not, your MacBook can overheat.
To make sure it is sleeping just wait 10-15 seconds after you close the lid to see if the little white light on the front of your MacBook starts pulsating. After that happens you can place it in your bag and go, or give it a few minutes to cool down first, then pack it up.
P.S. If your MacBook doesn't fall asleep after a MAX of 30 seconds, open the lid and just shut it down. One of your applications may be preventing it from sleeping.

  • Personal Hotspot with Foreign Carrier

A friend is selling me his iPhone 4S (AT&T in the USA) for the cost of an upgrade to a new iPhone 5, since his contract is fulfilled. I'll finally be able to trade up from an ancient 3G, woohoo! Does anyone know if the "Personal Hotspot" should work when dealing with a non-AT&T carrier (in this case, it will be either Movistar or Claro, the two big carriers here in Ecuador)? I know I can get a data account that works with it, since my friend was down here a month ago and used it with a SIM card from Claro, and since they have a "pay by the megabyte" plan, I'd think they wouldn't care how I use the data - iPhone or computer. He is sending it with another friend who is coming in a couple of weeks, and the reason I would like to know ahead of time is that I also plan to order an iPad for him to bring. If the personal hotspot is likely to work, I'd get the wireless-only iPad, but if not, then I'd get the 3G version.

I had a similar issue when I upgraded my 4S to IOS6.  When I went to activate hotspot the option disappeard from the Settings menu. I called support and they walked me through setting it up again on the phone and it still wouldn't even appear.  The phone no longer recognized that I even have the hotspot with my plan (a grandfathered tethering plan with 4 Gig).  After resetting network setting and doing a complete phone restore didn't work, they sent me to the Apple store to troubleshoot.  The store couldn't figure it out.  They tried my Sim in a 4S with IOS 5.1.1 and it worked just fine, so they concluded it was an issue eithe with IOS6 or the phone.  They sent me to the Apple store (fortunately just across the street).  They tried several things including a restore and were not able to bring it up.  They then tried my Sim in another 4S with IOS6 and the same issue occured.  They concluded it's an issue with IOS6 that will likely need to be addressed in IOS6.1 (or whatever the next update is).  Since my phone was under warranty, they swapped it for a refurb they had on hand with IOS 5.1.1.  My hotspot works and I have Google Maps back, but none of the good stuff in IOS6.
If anyone comes up with a solution or work around for this, it would be great to know.  I've got to imagine that others are impacted by this.  What a pain!

  • HP (Palm) Pre 2 and mobile hotspot question

HP had their webOS event Wednesday and the word is that the Pre 2 will be available for pre-order on Verizon today (Feb 10). I am certainly interested, but I have a question:
Will the Mobile Hotspot feature be free like it is on the Pre Plus?

    http://www.precentral.net/verizon-pre-2-now-available-free-mobile-hotspot-still-tow
This is really confusing. From precentral.net (above link), it said the 3g hot spot feature is free and confirmed.
PalmPre2_4Me wrote:I'm looking for an answer on this as well.  I just chatted with Verizon, they didn't know anything about at first, but did research it.  Told me that while it isn't listed as a checkout option, customer service would add it for an additional $20.
Now for the confusion, off the HP/Palm site, which links to a Verizon page, I found the following for the Pre 2:
Support Up To 5 WiFi-enabled Devices (3G Mobile Hotspot Service Included Free)
Now, I'm looking to upgrade ahead of the Palm Pre 3 - since I'm betting with that release the Mobile Hotspot feature wouldn't be free.  If anyone has any better info and would share, I would be most appreciative.  I want to get the new device, but for an additional $240/yr, not sure it is worth it.  Plus if I wait 3/6 months, the new device would be here and I might as well just upgrade then.
Thanks for any insight you might be able to provide!

  • IOS8 iPhone Personal Hotspot questions

I have some questions about the Personal Hotspot feature of my iPhone.  I have set it up and have it operational, but there are some quirks that I can find answers to.
    1.  How do I tell what device is using my personal hotspot when it is on WiFi?  All I can see is the banner that says there is a connection.
    2.  When I have the personal hotspot feature turned off in settings, and another device that has previously used the hotspot connects to it from their wifi settings, that turns on the hotspot on my iPhone.  How do I prevent that?  And How do I remove previously connected hotspots from the client iPhone wifi personal hotspot list?

  • Who knows the hardware difference between carriers, at

Trying to figure out the difference between these carriers as they relate specifically to the iphone 4S.  Family wants them, but I'm not sure if it's worth switching carriers, or if there's a real advantage, one carrier to the next.  I won't choose Verizon, they were just way too expensive, so I'm really just asking about AT&T and Sprint.  Or, is there really no difference at all.  We live in Houston area.

So I'm guessing you are currently with T-Mobile? MetroPCS?
Talk to neighbors in your area who have Sprint and AT&T and see how their reception is, do the same thing for where you work and any other place where you spend a good bit of time. Won't do you any good to buy one from a company that has poor coverage in your area. And keep in mind cell coverage is block by block, not city, state or region so do ask around.
If you are going to travel out of the country you can buy unlocked iPhones from Apple and get a microSIM from the country you are visiting to save money. Your best route in this case is AT&T. If you aren't going to do this kind of travel then go with the subsidized phones.
Finally, Sprint is the only company left with an unlimited data plan so if you plan on downloading a lot, streaming movies, listening to Pandora, etc. your best bet might be Sprint.

  • Variable's value passsing question between sapscipt and it's print program.

    Hi, all.
I have a question regarding to the variable value which past between sapscipt and it's print program.

in the sapscript, can i straight away code like below,
    &l_var&
to show the data 123456 on my form?
How to pass the variable value in the print program into the sapscript, beside using the PERFORM & FORM ??
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi,
Yes..You can use &l_var& to display in form..
But make sure the l_var is a global variable in the program..

  • The copy question between the same business transaction type

    Hi all,
I book a opportunity order 1000000002 by copying a same type existence opportunity order 1000000001.The transaction type is OPFS.
But i can't search the relationship between 1000000001 and 1000000002.
    Where is their DOC flow?
Which way can help me to find their relationship?
    Thanks for your attention.
    Best wishes.
    Simon Fan.

    Hi
There is no relationship between documents 1000000001 and 1000000002 as the second document has been made as a copy of the first document and not as a follow up transaction.
Relationship shall only appear when you make one document as a followup document from another.. eg: like you can make a opportunity as a followup document from lead. If you do this then you can see the relationship in the document flow.
I hope I have cleared your doubt.
    Regards
Note: Pls reward points if my explanation helps you.

The first query runs fast, a few seconds. The later runs for ages. Any idea how I could get better performance on the second query? How comes that the predicted run time for the two queries are not that different, 00:00:45 for query 1 versus 00:01:09 for query 2?
But in reality the difference is enormous, or am I mis interpreting the execution plan output?

    Hi Rob,
Since the PGA_AGGREGATE_TARGET is set, the AREASIZE parameters are automatically set. The PGA_AGGREGATE_TARGET is set to approximately 1.26Gb.
I reran the query to monitor the pga memory usage. Most of the work_area's were able to run in optimal mode, only a few in one-pass and none in multi-pass mode.
I know that our PROBLEMATIC query is not responsible for the one-pass mode work_areas.
Do you notice something abnormal in the PGA statistics? Maybe something else is causing the bad query performance? Other init parameters I should look into?
There's also this discrepancy between the explain plan and the reality which is puzzling me...

  • Urgent Hotspot question

    Hi,
So, I have managed to figure out how to use Lightbox (I dont really know any coding so it was not incredibly easy razz ) So, there is this feature in dreamweaver thats called "Hotspot" which means you draw an area in an image and when someone clicks on it, it leads them to a different spot. What I want to do is to make that area in an image open in to the lightbox thing.
Basically, here is what I did:
    Place image in Dreamweaver site
Set up the document to use lightbox
Create a Hotspot in the image
    Link it to another image
    Insert the rel="lightbox" line
When I go to test it, the browser just makes a shadow over the screen but nothing appears. Can anyone suggest anything that can fix that? Or is it at all possible?
My end goal is to have a large image of a gallery full of paintings (my paintings) and when people mouse over, they light up, and when they click on the painting it opens in to the lightbox kind of effect.

What was the urgency in your post title regarding?

  • Basic File Sharing question between user accounts on my iMac

I don't understand how to be able to share and download to one common folder among User Accounts on my iMac. I am trying to use a Clean Account as a test, and wanted to copy a file I downloaded from the web in one account into this clean account folder, and install the file.
I went to Sharing and thought I turn File Sharing on. Logged into the Clean account and Apple+I the folder, changing access priviledges to the folder. Then copy the file into the Clean User Account.
But it doesn't work that way. Can anyone help me understand sharing between accounts?

File Sharing is for sharing files between two different machines, not between different accounts on the same machine. If you want to share files on one machine, you just need to put them in a folder everyone has access to, like the /Users/shared folder. Also, don't go fooling around with folder permissions... that's a good way to mess things up. If I had a nickel for every time someone messed up their system using the "Apply to enclosed items" option when changing permissions, I'd be a rich man!

  • Cross platform upgrade question between Photoshop CS5/CS6 and multiple Windows/Mac computers

    Hello,
I'm currently using a Windows laptop and PC running Photoshop CS5 from a Student license I got in college. I am considering moving to an Apple laptop so I was looking at the cross platform update question on the forum that led me here: Order product | Platform, language swap
It's not really clear if I will be eligible for the upgrade, and Adobe support chat sent me to the forum, and that page sends me back to where I started to see if I am eligible. I would prefer to purchase the upgrade outright, rather than pay for the new monthly subscription model.
If I am eligible for a swap/upgrade to Apple CS6, will I still be able to use CS5 on my Windows PC?
    Thanks.

I don't have a definitive answer, but I have a feeling that a student teacher version is not eligible for an upgrade discount.  You own the CS5 perpetual license, and can install it on two computers at the same time as CS6, CC etc.  That will be the case in perpetuity.  (not sure why I didn't just type 'forever' back there, or alert the cliche police 'Going forward')
Photoshop CS6 Extended will cost you just shy of US$1600 according to this Amazon page  The non extended version does not give you the 3D tools, and Photoshop CC comes as the full extended version as standard.  If you got the Photoshop / Lightroom Photography plan at a mere $10 a month, the price of CS6 would keep you subscribed for > three years.  Photoshop CC has a lot of wonderful features CS6 does not have, and will never have, and CC will be be constantly updated 'in perpetuity'. ;-)  $10 a month!  Heck, what's not to like about that?!!!

  • CPU Usage Question between Premier and Media Encoder

    Hey guys,
Here is the question. I just built a new machine with the following specs:
    Intel i7 2.66GHz process overclocked to 3.2GHz
    12GB Memory
    Nvidia 260 Overclocked video card.
When I export a video from Adobe Premier into Media Encoder, all 8 cores peg out at 100% and thus my CPU temp get hot really quick (78 - 80 degrees Celsius)
Now if I take the same original video file and just drag it into Media Encoder, my 8 cores only show about 24-40% usage and the temp only gets to around 55-60 degrees Celsius.
What is causing such a big difference in CPU usage? I'm afraid to use Adobe Premier as it causes the CPUs to max out everytime. I want to edit my videos, but as stuck with just using AME on the original files.

I suspect its simply because in the first case Pr and AME are both running. In the later, just ame loading the Pr project. In the forst case two projects are running simultaneously, the one in Pr and a temp copy in AME.
But more troublesome to me is why youve built a system that cant be maxed out. IN editing, we Want the CPUs to peg to process as fast as possible. IMHO; You should re-think the design of your workstation if it overheats so easily.
    Curt
