Hotswap sata drives not recognized / partition table not detected
Hello Everybody,
I'm having some trouble, recently I bought to hot swap drive bays and moved two of my hardrives into them, but I can't seem to recognize the drives unless I boot with them in the "on" position, if I turn them on later, there's no indication that they are recognized at all by the system (by this I mean that there doesn't seem to be any new sd* or hd* devices appearing in /dev)
If I reboot with the drives configure in the "on" position, then arch recognizes them, but it can't read the partition table on one of the drives; it just shows up as, e.g /dev/sda and I don't see /dev/sda1; the drive has a single partition formatted with xfs (yes I've got xfsprogs installed), and I can recognize it if I boot into Parted Magic 3.5. I wonder if it's becuase I have BSD partition table? Anway, this isn't a huge issue, becuase I'm just going to transfer the data onto an external usb drive, reformat and transfer the data back.
I really do want to figure out a solution to the hotswapping problem though, because I don't want to have reboot if I want to hotswap the drives; this completely defeats the purpose of having hot-swappable drives.

I cannot for the life of me figure out how to contact AMD for tech-support, they provide no information on these Sata controllers, I have, however, contacted my motherboard's manufacturer. If anybody knows how to get in touch with AMD/ATI support, that would also probably be helpful.

I think I've got it working now; thanks for everyone's help.
There was in fact some BIOS settings that I needed to change hidden under "southbridge configuration". I needed to enable AHCI and disable "SATA / IDE combined controller" or something like that.
I'm also having some trouble with my fstab setup since the hotswap sata drives are in a raid1 array, and the system doesn't like it when I boot without it present; I'll see if I can figure out a way around that; if not it probably belongs in another thread, anyway,.

That one's consistent with disk/file damage. The first thing I'd try with that is running a disk check (chkdsk) over your C drive.

Select both Automatically fix file system errors and Scan for and attempt recovery of bad sectors, or use chkdsk /r (depending on which way you decide to go about doing this). You'll almost certainly have to schedule the chkdsk to run on startup. The scan should take quite a while ... if it quits after a few minutes or seconds, something's interfering with the scan.
Does the chkdsk find/repair any damage? If so, can you get an install to go through properly afterwards? -

I am using MSSQL SSRS 2008.
All the reports run properly when viewed via a web browser. However for subscription, I am having a strange
experience.
The subscription having intermitten failure. I need to execute multiple times to get it work.
Following is the exception I am getting:-
Failure sending mail: The user or group name 'xxxxx' is not recognized.Mail will not be resent.
Failure writing file DailyPolicyExportCDN_ST@timestamp : The user or group name 'xxxxx' is not recognized.
Following is the exception I retrieve from log files.

According to your description, you can access your report successfully, but it fail to send e-mail subscription. Right?
In this scenario, since you can access the report successfully, so this user has permission on report server. Please go to E-mail setting in your Reporting Services Configuration Manager, check if the current user has permission on that SMTP server.
If this is still not working, please recreate the subscription and try again.

Oracle 11gR2 Partition tables not creating in default user tablespace

Not sure if i'm missing something or overlooked but when i create a partition table in a user schema, it is not creating in the schema's default tablespace instead creating with no assigned to any and using SYSTEM tablesspace.

We have tables that are interval range partitioned on a DATE column, with a partition for each day - all very standard and straight out of Oracle doc.
A 3rd party application queries the tables to find number of rows based on date range that is on the column used for the partition key.
This application uses date range specified relative to current date - i.e. for last two days would be "..startdate > SYSDATE -2 " - but partition pruning does not take place and the explain plan shows that every partition is included.
By presenting the query using the date in a variable partition pruning does table place, and query obviously performs much better.
DB is 11.2.0.3 on RHEL6, and default parameters set - i.e. nothing changed that would influence optimizer behavior to something unusual.
I can't work out why this would be so. It very easy to reproduce with simple test case below.
I'd be very interested to hear any thoughts on why it is this way and whether anything can be done to permit the partition pruning to work with a query including SYSDATE as it would be difficult to get the application code changed.
Furthermore to make a case to change the code I would need an explanation of why querying using SYSDATE is not good practice, and I don't know of any such information.

JimAs Jonathan has already pointed out there are situations where the CBO knows that partition pruning will occur but is unable to identify those partitions at parse time. The CBO will then use a dynamic pruning which means determine the partitions to eliminate dynamically at run time. This is why you see the KEY information instead of a known partition number. This is to occur mainly when you compare a function to your partition key i.e. where partition_key = function. And SYSDATE is a function. For the other bizarre PSTOP number (1048575) see this blog

Actually i have Production Partition table SMS_DELIVERY_NODETAILS its have partitions "PS_WD_01,PS_WD_02........... PS_WD_30". Partition base on date "TOOPERATOR" column like "10-11-2012 , 11-11-2012 ........".
I have create local index "DELIVERY_CAMP" on "CAMPAIGN_NAME" column.
I face issue in :
case 1: Query using index "DELIVERY_CAMP" when i was use query with partition name "PS_WD_07"

I traded for a 1st gen iPad and when I plug it into my computer (windows 7 home premium) the driver did not install and now the ipad is not recognizable. Can you help?

Table not recognized with Auto Field Detection
Hello,
I have imported a MS Word with a table before and loved how LiveCycle ES2 recognized the table and automatically created a fillable form.
I've now imported a different MS Word document and LiveCycle isn't adding fillable text boxes to the cells.
Any suggestions on improving the MS Word document so that LiveCycle can add fillable text boxes?
Or are there settings to LiveCycle I need to adjust.
Thanks for any recommendations!I understand that Designer has that feature. I have never tried it. Do expect to have to fix it a bit, but it should give you a start.

No SATA drives are recognized in Windows but are detected in BIOS.

Irritating problem.
First off, here are my computer specs. (Just built it less than a week ago)
CPU: AMD 64 3500+
CPU Cooling: Stock CPU Fan
Mainboard: MSI K8N Neo4 Platinum/SLI
Mem: Crucial/Mushkin 2GB (4x512)
HDD: (1) 40GB IDE,(1) 160GB IDE (2) 300GB SATA
Video: NVidia GeForce 5200
Sound: Internal Sound Blaster Live! 24 Bit
Misc: (1) DVD+/-RW 16x Drive, (1) 52x CDRW/DVD Combo
Case/PSU: Thermaltake Tsunami Dreams Window Case w/ Thermaltake PurePower 480 Watt PSU

Here's the issue.
I have no idea what's going on.
OK, I have a MSI K8N Neo4 Platinum/SLI board that has 6 onboard SATA ports. 2 of these ports are the Sil chipset and the other ports are the NVidia chipset.
I have two 300GB SATA hard drives (Maxtor) hooked up to the Sil channel. (Sata ports 1 and 2) and during boot the system detects them fine. No problems, instantly, as if there was no issue.
I've used these two hard drives in my previous machine so there is a lot of data on it that I do NOT want to lose.
Problem is, neither one of these drives show up in Windows at all!
The driver is installed, according to the Device Manager for the Sil chipset. There are no drives listed under Drive Management other than my IDE drives, and nothing listed under Device Manager either.
If I hook up my hard drives to ANY two other ports, Windows BSOD on boot. I'm thinking because the drivers for the controller aren't installed. But there's only one problem. Device Manager tells me NOTHING about this and I don't have an executable file to install those drivers so I don't know how to install them.
I've been doing research for the last few days, so can someone PLEASE help me?

As far as the BIOS is concerned, I have the chipset set to "SATA."
And as far as the NVidia SATA for some reason it has a hard time detecting my SATA drives while the Sil chipset has no issues at all detecting the drive. I have it so the IDE HDD is the 3rd boot device while the FDD is first and the CDROM is second, but if I recall correctly the PC attempts to boot from the IDE drive before any SATA drives while on the NVidia SATA ASSUMING that the drives are detected in the first place. -
USB Device Not Recognized (&IPOD WILL NOT TURN ON)
I have had an iPod Shuffle G2 for 6 months now with no problems until today.
It went flat when I was at my friends place so when I got back to my mums I plugged it into my laptop and it told me "USB Device Not Recognized One of the USB devices attached to this computer has malfunctioned and windows does not recognize it" I thought there was just a prob with that port in my laptop, so I put it in the other one. So I though Ill wait until I get to my nan and pops and put it in there computer which is where I sync it. Same problem in both ports. Except on this computer the orange light is on but doesnt flash.
Now my iPod doesn't turn on at all..

Macbook Pro Late 2008 not recognizing battery and not charging

i really need some help please
i have a Macbook pro 15" Late 2008 running os x 10.7.4
i will say briefly how did the problem begin and what is the problem
it stopped charging for some reason the magsafe light was (and still is) dim green and at the battery icon it said not charging but after a couple of hours that it was turned off and connected i found out it is charging really slowly
later on that week
i was using an app called DSLR remote connected to my camera i left my macbook on the table outside connected via usb to my camera waited on it and came back
when i came back my mac was out of battery
i took it in hook it up to the magsafe nada nothing not charging dim light
so what i did i knew my magsafe charger is ready to be changed so i bought a new one
tried it same problem
later on did an smc reset
it did turn on biw the fans are really loud the battery icon (x) and it said no batteries available
so i tried my old fastly drained battery it used to hold up about 1-2 hours then i bought another battery but that was in the past
so i tried both batteries smc reseting with both same result
the smcfancontrol app says fan speed 000 rpm and temoerature 0 C
and one more thing when the mac is off and not connected to the magsafe i click on the battery indicator light on the left side i get a flashing light (battery empty needs to be charged) when i connect the magsafe it stops working even when its off and while its just connected
so it is and SMC problem
it has been like that for the past 4 weeks or so
i really need some help
and im from israel so no apple genius bars around =_= and i have a good technical knowledge

anyway its a hardware faliure of some sort i'll need to check it my self but now im almost sure its not software because i've tried many things
my other option is to run it off a battery
the thing is my battery is out so when its attached the battey indicator lights do work (they are controled by the SMC) that might solve it too

My 5th gen Ipod touch has not been recognized by my computer since IOS 7 came out. I havn't been able to sync any new songs (wi-fi or plugged into the computer) and will not charge while plugged into the computer. I have tried to find it in the device manager menu also but to no avail.
