HotSync ID for Palm Centro.

I installed Astaware's Sudoku from the "My Centro" bonus software section.  Sudoku is now telling me that to continue playing I must register the software using my Centro's HotSync ID.  When I go into the HotSync manager, there is no ID listed at the top right of the screen.  (As per instructions found on the internet.)
Where do I find my ID?
Thanks.

Hello HardBeatZ, thanks for the reply.
I don't think any of the applications provided with my phone work with the Linux OS, so I am unable to hotsync my phone with my computer.  Is there a way to set the ID directly on the phone?
Thanks.

  • Another browser for Palm Centro??

I am not that happy with the Palm Centro (with Sprint) browser.  Blazer just does not seem that great.  I tried OperaMini but it is lacking an IBM plugin (which apparently is not available anymore).  Are there any other browsers that will work on Palm (Garnett OS)?  Thanks in advance for help.

Does the above link, once unzipped, include the Documentation folder for the product? If so, it should have a ReadMe and User Guide that explain the installation requirements.
    From the ReadMe:
To run the JVM on a device, HotSync all the ARM4T PRC files for your language.
    And from the User Guide:
Follow these steps to install a runtime environment on your device:
Note: These instructions are for Windows XP/2000 only.
    1. In the Start Menu, select Programs | Palm Desktop | Palm Quick Install
    to launch the install program.
    2. Select File | Add Files and browse to the directory where you installed
Java Technology for Palm OS Garnet. Then browse to \JVM\ARM4T.
    3. Select J9JavaVMMidp20.prc and j9pref.prc* and click Open to add the
files to the Quick Install window.
*The j9pref.prc, which is the developer preferences panel, is
intended for use by software developers only. It is not intended for end
users. Also, it is not localized; it is available only in English.
    4. Verify that your device is placed in the cradle correctly.
    5. HotSync the device. If you are prompted for a user, select the correct user.
In my case, I installed J9JavaVMMidp20 and JavaVMCheck_enUS (the English program - several languages are available).
    This seemed to work.
You will now have an "Other" listed in your Prefs screen on your Palm for the IBM Java Preferences. Click on this and ensure 'double buffering' is checked on and crank up both 'Set Memory Maximum' and 'Set Maximum Java Thread Stack Size'. Mine are set to 32 MB.
If you don't increase these settings from their original, Opera Mini will likely crash. A lot.
    Hope this helps!

  • External keyboard for Palm Centro

I've read a few reviews on Amazon on the Palm wireless keyboards (Palm 3245WW) saying they don't work as advertised and that Palm no longer makes them/supports them and was totally not helpful in resolving any of the issues. Does anyone know of an external keyboard that will work with the Centro? Or new drivers that resolve these problems? IR, Bluetooth, wired....I don't care. My wife has the phone and texts a lot and the phone keyboard is extremely painful for her to use for long periods of time.

Hi, and welcome to the Palm Support Community.
Everywhere you go, even here, you'll find people who have problems for one reason or another (user error, wrong driver, other third-party software incompatibilities, actual hardware issues) pairing the two devices.  But that particular keyboard is compatible with the Centro.  Searching on the Forums here will yield threads evidencing the fact that users have successfully paired the keyboard with their Centro.
Just realize that the Bluetooth Wireless Keyboard is no longer a current Palm model.  Here is the device's support page where you can download the latest driver, etc.:

  • USB Hotsync Cable for Palm IIIxe

Is there a cable available for the Palm IIIxe?  If so, would appreciate name of supplier and model number, if known.  I'm unable to usee the cradle with my laptop and notebook. Thanks

If the cradle has the serial connection you can use a serial to USB adaptor that will allow you to sync your device. They are very common items. Here is a search I did in Google: http://www.google.com/search?rlz=1C1CHMI_enUS302US342&aq=0&oq=serial+to+usb+adaptor&sourceid=chrome&...

  • Palm Centro Unwanted Hotsync Help!!

Okay I have the Palm Centro from AT&T and I got this message from the phone saying it was connecting to HotSync and I don't want it to and it keeps popping up anyways! Please help me figure out how to make it stop trying to connect.
BTW I'm 13 and I don't know what to do so please put it easier for me to do this. And my parents aren't home so I can't ask them.
    Post relates to: Centro (AT&T)

Hello and welcome to the Palm forums!
You can click on "cancel" to stop the hot sync or remove the battery from your centro and stick it right back in. This should stop the hot sync.
PS It is not a good idea to post personal information on a public forum. You can click on the top right of your post and edit it. I would suggest that you remove your age from the post and the fact that your parents are not home. It is not safe to inform the public about that! You can just write that you need help with this issue and you would like a response asap.

  • Centro 5 (garnet) and new iMac OS 10.5.6 Can I use my Mac as an internet connection for Palm?

I have a Palm Centro through Sprint.  I have cable internet via SBC Global (ATT).  I also have a wireless internet network in my home.  I run a Mac with OS 10.5.6.  I would like to be able to get to the internet on my palm via the bluetooth in my Mac, or I'd even like to get to the internet on my palm via the Mac by connecting to it via USB.
Obviously, I'm clueless.  I've spent many hours researching this and it seems most people are trying to  use their phone as a modem, but I don't think that's what I want to do since both my Mac and my Centro have bluetooth capability.  I do not want to get a $25 data plan through sprint when I am only accessing while inside my home where my internet capability already is.  I'm not trying to use my phone for internet access.  So, I'm not looking for "Wi-Fi" per se.  Mostly I want to be able to download applications directly to my phone instead of needing to download first to my mac, then install to my phone. Also, I'd like to access my googlemaps page from home.
My husband has a brand new itouch ipod which he was able to EASILY access our wireless internet through his laptop PC.  Meanwhile, I'm running in circles.  I can't figure out why a smart phone would prevent me from accessing my wireless internet.
    Help....Please?

  • Need a method for importing Palm III data into a Palm Centro

I just bought a Palm Centro (Verizon), with the expectation of importing data from my old Palm III.  From the Palm III Desktop, I exported Contacts, Calendar, Tasks, and Memos into separate folders (this was done on a Windows XP PC) and copied the resulting folders & files onto a flash drive.  But when I try to import these files into the Palm Centro desktop (on a new Mac Pro with OSX), the backup files are not in a "recognized format."  Does anyone have a process for reliably getting the Palm III data into the Palm Centro?  Also, is there an easy way to purge unwanted Contacts/Calendar events from the Palm Centro handheld?  With all the trial and error, its accumulating a lot of garbage.  Thanks...

  • Palm Centro 690 - for Verizon

Hello - I am hoping that someone can help me - I have just recently received my new Palm Centro from Verizon which I have had for a week now - The problem I am encountering is - there are times that I hit the power button and it goes on without a problem and there are other times that it does a hard reboot - WHY does it do that - am I hitting something to completely power it down?
There has been 2 times already that I have to take the battery out and put it back on in order to turn the palm on - and
There has been a couple of times that that I hear almost a static noise and then it goes to a hard reboot -
Can anyone explain to me why this does this??
thank you for any help that you can offer - I really happy with this device but if it is something that I cannot rely on then I am going to have to possibly return it.

    This question was solved.
    View Solution.

    In response to your questions;
    1. - will I be able to have all the old information that was on my Z22 on my centro ~ OR will I be starting from scratch?
You will have the data from the Z22. The renaming of the backup folder only affects the settings, 3rd party apps., etc. in the backup folder.
    2. - After I rename the old back up folder  ~ Do I have to reinstall the Verizon Centro program?
NO, the beauty of this method is that the only thing you need to do is rename the backup folder to backup.old, Hard reset your device and sync. You should be back in business without all the hassles you have been experiencing.
    3. - After I rename the old back up folder ~ do I have to choose a new username?
NO, you will sync with the same username so you can get all your data in the existing username to the Centro.
Make sure before you sync, after renaming the backup folder to backup.old and the hard reset, to set the conduits to desktop overwrites handheld.
If you follow the instructions in the previous post, you should be A-OK.

  • Retail sources for new Palm Centro (Verizon?)

I recently lost my Palm Centro (Verizon), and would like to replace it with another Palm Centro.  Unfortunately, it no longer seems to be avaiable from either Palm or Verizon.  Does anyone know of a retail (not eBay) source for the Palm Centro (Verizon) that is not excessive in price (i.e., over $100?).  I am hoping to locate a new one.  Thanks.

You are looking for a discontinued model, so your sources are pretty much limited to after-market places such as eBay.  I doubt very much that you will find any new ones at any traditional retail outlets.
