HotSync M505 to Windows 7

New computer (Dell Optiplex 380) with Windows 7.  Old Palm, M505, version 4.0.1. on desktop.  Used cradle with USB in old computer, and same arragement with the new.  Installed Palm Desktop just fine from the discs.
Will not hotsync - message come up "Connection between handheld computer and the desktop could not be established."
Any ideas about resolving this?
Post relates to: Palm m505

There are several people who have had success with the Aceeca windows 64bit driver and Palm desktop version 4.1.4 on Windows 7 64bit computers using the Palm m505. Meaning you can usb cable sync which is much faster. Read the post 64bit drivers are here for links and install directions. It is not your palm that is 32 bit it is the Palm desktop application that only has a 32bit Windows driver with it. So Aceeca who manufactures Garnett devices produced a Windows 64bit driver.

  • Where are "documents to go" files stored when I perform a Hotsync with my windows xp system?

I just upgraded my palm OS to the latest version on my Treo 755p.  Prior to upgrading I did a verizon wireless sync and a hotsync with my windows XP based PC.  I list all my "documents to go" files that were stored on my phone.  They did not reappear when I did Hotsync after the update.  They were all supposed to be Hotsynced.
Where are these files stored on my computer?  How do I avoid this from happening again?

  • Palm m505 and Windows Vista

I recently resurrected my Palm M505 to start using it again but it doesn't want to hotsync to my computer using Windows Vista.  I tried downloading update 6.2 from this site (not that it showed that it would workf for my Palm, but what the heck) but it didn't fix the problem either and I'm getting a fatal error message.  Is there a patch or a work around that I can download/use that will allow my Palm to work with Windows Vista?  I really don't want to get rid of the Palm and switching operating systems is not an option either.  Any help would be greatly appreciated!
    Post relates to: Palm m505

Check the OS version such as 32 bit or 64 bit.
If it's 64bit then the device will not syc. That are no drivers for the device, you might want to consider infrared hotsync.

    - Not Synchronized
    Outlook Contacts synchronization failed
When I go to the settings, also there is the same error : “This version of Outlook is not supported by the Outlook Conduit application. Supported outlook versions are Outlook 98, 200, XP(2002) and 2003.”. It looks like the upgrade with palmoutlook2007conduits have no effect in Windows 7.

  • !!!SOLUTION !!! Hotsync TE2 with windows 7 (64bit) via blue tooth SOLUTION !!!

I recently struggled with syncing my TE2 with the palm desktop application in windows 7 as many of you have too.
I am using Windows 7 Home Premium, Palm desktop 4.1.4 and a blue tooth dongle.
The solution I found for my problem works like this:
Find a phone that has blue tooth and add it as device on your computer.
    I used a simple Nokia 2630.
The add-proces went well and it automaticly had two COM-ports assigned that it uses for syncing or backup etc.
    I shut down the phone.
Started the hotsync manager from Palm.
Klicked away error messages as that the com-port is in use by another device.
Klicked right in the tray icon for hotsync.
    Select setup.
    Select local.
Then get a message that the port is not available.
After that I can choose a port that IS availlable.
That is one of the ports that was assigned to my Nokia phone.
I select one of these ports and close the setup screen.
I have setup a blue tooth hotsync connection on my TE2.
Hereafter I can sync my TE2 with the Palm desktop 4.1.4 without a problem.
Just don't use the phone and hotsync at the same time.
The only messagfes I got are from docstogo that powerpoint does not work anymore, but you can ignore that message.
After one hotsync these messages don't appear anymore.
I don't start the hotsync program at startup, but start it manually.
I start it in compatibilitymode for Windows XP (Servicepack 3).
Right-klick on desktop icon choose compatilbility, check first box and from the dropdownlist choose Windows XP (Service Pack 3).
    Until now  . . . . . . no problems.
I hope somebody can use this too.
P.S. When you start the hotsync prog it can last a little while before it appears in your taskbar.
    GOOD LUCK !!!!!
    Greetings,
    Jacques

Do you absolutely want to use the slower BlueTooth connection, or would you rather use the USB cable as designed?
Drivers are available now for 64bit systems.  See the top of the Windows HotSync board for "64 bit Palm Desktop drivers are here!"

  • Palm TX HotSync Problems with Windows Vista (DeskTop V6.2.2 HotSync Manager V7.0.2)

I have recently had to re-install DeskTop on my Windows Vista PC and at the same time updated to V6.2.2. but the HotSync manager gets to "Synchronising Date Book" and just hangs up until I close things with Task Manager. I've tried re-booting my PC reloading the software and soft resetting my TX but so far I haven't found a solution. Can anyone help please?

When a sync hangs on a component of Palm Destop, it usually means the data is corrupted in that component. The calendar is the culprit most of the time.
Click on the following link for the program called DbFixiT. This program has a trial version that you can download and install on your Palm OS device. The trial version will scan for database corruption and then report the corruption. You can then find the records causing the problem and fix them yourself or you can purchase the program and have it automatically fix the records.
    http://www.pimlicosoftware.com/dbfixit.htm
To install the program, set all conduits to "do nothing" except quick install or install if using Palm desktop 6.2.
After you install the program on the handheld, run the scan and also scan for Blobs in the calendar.
After you clean-up the database on the handheld, set the conduits in hotsync to handheld overwrites desktop and perform a hotsync.
If you need more info. regarding DBFixit, there is a PDF manual on their website.
For reference purposes, click on the following link for the support page for your device on the kb.hpwebos.com webpage.

  • Centro won't HotSync using Bluetooth & Windows 7

I have been using Bluetooth to HotSync my Palm Centro (Verizon) with my Windows 7 (HP) computer.  The last successful HotSync was 2 weeks ago (9/20).  No hardware or software changes have been made to the computer since then.  When I tried to HotSync today I got this message:
    HotSync Problem
Unable to initiate HotSync operation because the port is in use by another application.
I tried rebooting the computer, but that didn't help.
Can anybody help me?  In very simple basic words (pretend you're talking to your grandmother) please.
    Thanks,
    Nancy

I also get this message.  I thought it was because my wife and I each have a Palm Centro and it meant that the HotSync was still connected to the other person's phone.  But If you are only using one phone, and still get this message, I am now stumped as to why the error occurs.

  • Successful Hotsync - Palm T3 Windows 7 64-bit by Bluetooth

After a lot of frustration and some blue screens trying other methods, it worked for me...
    HP p6675uk - 2 x dual core - Windows 7 64-bit
Downloaded Palm Desktop 6.2 and installed it, but skipped the hotsync.
Installed a Buetooth dongle - I used a dirt cheap one - the Dynamode BT-USB-M2
It did not install properly, but I ran the Troubleshooter and Windows found the updated driver (CSR is the maker)
Then the dongle kept dropping out - a yellow exclamation mark on the icon in the Devices and Printers window.
Then I ran services.msc (Start - Run - type in "services.msc" - OK) to discover that the bluetooth service wasn't running! Enabled it in automatic mode.
Opened Bluetooth properties and made the dongle discoverable.
On the Palm, started Bluetooth and made a new trusted connection to the PC.
On the Palm set Hotsync to use the newly created Bluetooth conection
On the PC opened HotSync Settings → Connections to use Bluetooth only
    Start Hotsync from the Palm.
    That worked!
Tried again, got the “can't connect being used by another program" error message on the Palm.
Looked in Devices and Printers, the yellow exclamtion mark was back. Experimented and found an answer that works reliably for me.
    Now I have a routine:
After Windows start-up, when I want to run Hotsync, open Devices and Printers. Bluetooth has the exclamation mark.
    * Open the Device Manager. Open the Bluetooth device. In the Driver tab, disable the driver, click OK. Go back in, enable the driver, click OK. Look again at the Devices and Printers window:
    1. Exclamation mark gone. Switch on Palm, Palm appears in Devices screen, run Hotsync. Goto End
    2. Exclamation mark there. Remove dongle, replace dongle
2a. Exclamation mark gone, goto 1
2b. Exclamation mark returns, goto * above
End - It worked, I'm happy.

  • Bluetooth HotSync Zire 31 & Windows Vista 64-bit

I'm having trouble setting up HotSync between my Zire 31 and a PC running 64-bit Windows. I'm on theProduct Support web page for the Zire 31 and have followed the instructions after buying a Bluetooth adapter and installing the software.  In the Bluetooth Radio Properties Options I have checked "Allow Bluetooth devices to find this computer" in the Discovery box and, in the connections box, I have checked both "Allow Bluetooth devices to connect to this computer" and "Alert me when a new Bluetooth device wants to connect."  The Bluetooth adapter is on.   I have downloaded and installed Palm Desktop by ACCESS 6.2 and have selected Bluetooth in the Connections screen of the HotSync manager.
When I go to the Prefs application on the Zire 31, the screen looks completely different from the instructions on the Product Support web page.  I click on connections and Bluetooth is not included in the list of Available Connections.  There is no opportunity to set up a Bluetooth HotSync or select my computer from a list of devices.
I've spent several hours on this problem, and, after reading on the Product Support web page for the Zire 31 that I needed Bluetooth to HotSync with 64-bit Vista, I ran out and bought the Bluetooth adapter.  According to the Bluetooth Radio Properties window, the adapter and the Microsoft Bluetooth Enumerator are working properly.
Please don't tell me that the Zire 31 doesn't have Bluetooth capability.  I only got into Bluetooth after reading the Product Support web page for the Zire 31.  I'd appreciate any help that you can give.
    Thanks,
    Carolyn

Hello cgg2000, Welcome to the Palm Support Community.
Have you ever seen any reference to BlueTooth on your Zire31?  That's because it does not exist on a Zire31...
Sorry.  Your options are to use an IR (beaming) adapter, or depending on what version of "Windows" you have it might be able to run in "XP Mode".  There are several threads concerning this option, but I've never done it myself since I don't own the most expensive versions of either Win7 or Vista64.

  • Palm Z22 hotsync with windows 7 64 bit-using IRD

I have been trying to hotsync my input from Palm Z22 into my new OS Windows 7 64 bit using first the USB-unsuccessful.
I purchased an IRD to try and hotsync onto OS windows 7 64 bit- but also have failed.  Any advise?

I do not know if it will work. In his post at brighthand that he made the Aceeca driver available to the palm community Alex stated that it should work with many Palm devices that were os 4 or 5. You are using an older version of the palm desktop and one of the older os 4 devices. I do know of people with the palm m505 and m515 using the Aceeca driver with success, but they were using a newer version of the palm desktop. I believe most were using the 4.1.4 palm desktop version. I do not know if experimenting with a newer desktop version will help either.

    Post relates to: Tungsten T3

    1) The location for the Bluetooth Update software for the Tungsten T3 to Support a HP Pavilion dv7 running Vista 64-bit OS.
-im not sure what bluetooth update software you mean in your HP pavillion PC for the T3. if your PC has a builtin bluetooth on it,  you can see the brand/model and version in the device manager.
if there maybe updates that should came from the manufacturer of the bluetooth device. so far there are 3 known drivers/stack for bluetooth that i know: widcomm, toshiba and generic/microsoft stacks.
    2) Instructions on updating the Bluetooth settings on the T3 that do NOT involve using the HotSync (since that clearly isn't possible).
-there is no need to update the bluetooth settings of the T3 if you wish to do bluetooth hotsync as latest bluetooth versions available in the market are backwards compatible. so once the bluetooth stack is define, is just a matter of picking up the right settings for the PC and the T3 to communicate and do hotsync or send files and folders via the bluetooth radio.
    3) Explanation why Palm is no longer supporting the T3. The website lists the product as mature, not end of life, nor end of support. Just as a note, the T3 is still one of the best and most powerful units it has ever produced.
-palm phones and handhelds has been classified into 4 categories or lifecyles. current, mature, legacy and historical. for mature units, these are units that are no longer sold as new at palm stores and its authorized dealers or retailers. palm are not totally abandoning support for these models although some services and options are no longer available.  you can still do repair and phone support with a fee and free chat support.
    4) Explanation why Palm/ACCESS is requiring Palm users to open up their PC's to clear access vulnerabilities via Bluetooth.
-it was indicated in the release of palm desktop 6.2 that windows vista 64bit is not supported. however, there were some who was able to find a workaround and that's bluetooth and wifi sync.
it's optional though as it's the users prerogative to try that workaround if they really wanted to sync their devices to the 64bit vista. so if some people find it too risky to try such workarounds then they simply look for another alternative such as other models or may shift to other manufacturers depending on what's feasible in their part.
    5) Explanation why on my previous laptop (HP Pavilion dv6000 running 64-bit Vista) everything worked fine via the USB HotSync.
-in windows vista sync 64bit for mature devices like the T3, it may work in some cases but it is bound to fail since it's not supported as indicated in the release of palm desktop 6.2 which is the only version that will work for windows vista.

    Hello  Horst,
The LifeDrive's Drive Mode desktop management software does not work with Windows 7.  You should be able to synchronize the LifeDrive with your PC over Bluetooth.  My guess is that Palm Desktop 6.2.2 is the better way to go over 4.x.
