Hotsync problem Zire 72

I am not able to hotsync Palmone Zire 72 device with a Windows XP computer.  I recently had the battery on the Zire 72 replaced.  When I attempt to hotsync, I receive a problem message that states connection between handheld and computer could not be established.

  • PALM V / WINDOWS XP HOME HOTSYNC PROBLEM

Out of the blue, my Palm stopped hotsyncing with my G3 Mac  (see http://forums.palm.com/t5/Macintosh-HotSync/PALM-V-MAC-OS9-2-2-HOTSYNC-PROBLEM/td-p/273892;jsessioni...) so I am trying to move everything over to my Windows XP Home machine. I downloaded the Palm Desktop V 4.1.4 and purchased a new Keyspan USA-19HS serial to USB adapter for the cradle. I have the Hotsync Manager set to Local USB and the driver said that I was connected to com 4.
I am at a total loss on what to do to get the hotsync to work and I am totally lost without my PDA.

    Hi,
easiest way to verify that your XP CD has SP2 incorporated is to look at the root directory of the CD for a file named 'win51ip.sp2'.
If there, then it is SP2. If not, well...
And there is a way to make yourself a XP CD with SP2 out of your pre-SP2 XP CD by following these instructions http://www.winsupersite.com/showcase/windowsxpsp2slipstream.asp
But you have to do it on a Windows PC.
Second possibility, the XP CD you have is an upgrade version, which only installs after a check for an older Windows version.
Unfortunately you can't switch CDs during BootCamp Windows installation due to the impossibility to eject the current CD.
Apple strictly says that such upgrade XP CDs don't work with BootCamp.

  • E2 Hotsync problems - locks up when I get to calendar/datebook

I have read all the posts re: hotsync problems and i have tried them all except for the third party software (Dlib?). Does anyone have a solution which doesn't cost me anything? I love my E2 and I don't want to retire it to "brick" status!

Hello, I am having the same problem.  I called someone at Palm support and they haven't returned my call.  Do you still have the program (DBSCAN20b.prc) that was sent to you?  If you do would you mind sending it to me.  I have a Palm Tungsten E2 and want to sync my new Palm Pre-Pixi with the data from the E2.  If you are willing to do so, please call me at xxx-xxx-xxxx.  Thanks.

  • SOLVED (?): my problem with HotSync (USB, Zire 72 and Win XP)

As noted in many other messages, it is not uncommon for the HotSync to fail with USB connection when the "Local USB" option disappears from the manager menu.
I noticed this earlier today and like many others had information that I needed to transfer via USB to my computer.
After a number of false tries, I saw a message about using Device Manager to check the status of the handheld.  In my case, the device had a yellow blob with a "?" on it and when I right-clicked, it said the driver was not available.
Following another post, I located the drivers and used the Hardware Wizard to update the driver.
This was not straightforward to me and I am posting to mention what worked for me.
The problem is telling the Wizard what file to use or ALTERNATIVELY where to find it OR what type of driver file to look for.
In my case, I told it to look in the palm directory (this is wrong, it is in the USB_Drivers subdirectory and I didn't realize it, or the Wizard didn't let me go to the subdirectory level).  The Wizard did not allow me to click OK (greyed out) and so I tried the alternative of looking by TYPE.  Here it displayed palm handheld as one type and I selected this, but again the OK was greyed out.
I took another look at the choices and selected ports and com (probably kind of an obvious choice for a USB connection <g>) and this one came up with a specific .sys file and I was now able to click OK.
The Wizard went through an install and afterward, I tried hotsyncing and it worked without a problem.
I believe the problem is caused at least in part because the Palm Install program doesn't install the driver in the subdirectory (in Win32?) where Win XP expects it.
Since the file is now in the right place, hopefully it is a real (permanent) solution.
Thanks for the messages others posted that helped me (hopefully) fix this.

Do you have the latest system driver updates.Think the latest update (version 2.78,updated through Live Update or the verion at nVidia website) does address that issue. I updated, however, I do not have any 2.0 devices so I am not sure that my 2.0 is working. They work fine for me at 1.1.
There is also a USB 2.0 patch version 5.1.2600.1106 available on Live Update as well. I have already updated that as well

  • Palm Zire Hotsync problems

Old Zire on a Vista O/S computer.  While upgrading the old Palm software, I lost all data on the desktop.  When Hotsynching my handheld to the new (ACCESS) software, all failed.  So I uninstalled the new (ACCESS) software and reinstalled the old Zire software from the CD I have.  It took quite a while and then sent me error messages that data, contacts, etc. had not transferred.  Checking the desktop afterwards confirmed it.  Nothing there.  No help from Palm.  Anyone have an idea how to resolve this?

  • Palm TX HotSync Problems with Windows Vista (DeskTop V6.2.2 HotSync Manager V7.0.2)

I have recently had to re-install DeskTop on my Windows Vista PC and at the same time updated to V6.2.2. but the HotSync manager gets to "Synchronising Date Book" and just hangs up until I close things with Task Manager. I've tried re-booting my PC reloading the software and soft resetting my TX but so far I haven't found a solution. Can anyone help please?
    Post relates to: Palm TX

When a sync hangs on a component of Palm Destop, it usually means the data is corrupted in that component. The calendar is the culprit most of the time.
Click on the following link for the program called DbFixiT. This program has a trial version that you can download and install on your Palm OS device. The trial version will scan for database corruption and then report the corruption. You can then find the records causing the problem and fix them yourself or you can purchase the program and have it automatically fix the records.
    http://www.pimlicosoftware.com/dbfixit.htm
To install the program, set all conduits to "do nothing" except quick install or install if using Palm desktop 6.2.
After you install the program on the handheld, run the scan and also scan for Blobs in the calendar.
After you clean-up the database on the handheld, set the conduits in hotsync to handheld overwrites desktop and perform a hotsync.
If you need more info. regarding DBFixit, there is a PDF manual on their website.
For reference purposes, click on the following link for the support page for your device on the kb.hpwebos.com webpage.

Without really knowing the extent of the problems you are having it is hard to say.
You can visit http://kb.palm.com solution id 2630 for the Hotsync troubleshooter guide.
If that doesn't resolve your issue, I am going to need to know what problems you are having, what errors you are getting and what exactly occurs when you attempt a hotsync.

  • Hotsync problem - hard drive crash reset everytime I sync w/ computer

Hello, I have read all or many of the forums and I still have not been able to fix my problem
Everytime I sync w/ my computer (windows XP pro) I have to reset my Zire 71 PALM. When I go to the PALM folder on my computer, it does not have a user name identified I tried to uninstall and re-install but, the same thing happens. I tried to turn all of the conduits off except calendar, contacts and memos oh yes and to do but, the same programs keep re-installing themselves in my word to do and driving directions and then jump to you have to reset the hand held.
My hard drive crashed and this has happened since I had to retriev all of the data that I could from the crash and noted that a lot of my contact informationwas gone and older deleted contacts re-appeared, dont know if this has any bearing on the issue or not. I am sorry that I could not find my answer in the forum and I hope someone can help me.
    Thank you - Tracey

  • M515 Hotsync problem with computer Windows XP Professional

I am not a computer person.  Since my friend connected our WD My Book Essential external hard drive to our computer my husband's M515 does not hotsync .  Message he gets is "The connection between your handheld computer and the desktop could not be established. Please check your setup and try again." We have checked everything in the Palm Desktop Hotsync and the handheld Palm and everything looks the same.  I have downloaded the Palm Desktop 4.1.4 sotfware, tried the soft reset several times and nothing works. When I Hotsync it restarts the computer and always comes up with the above message. This problem happened a few years ago when PalmOne was operating and the Support Team fixed the problem. Can someone help my husband before he kills me and the external WD My Book Essential.....

I was not able to Hot Sync my old Tungsten T (m550) with Palm Desktop 4.1.4 and HotSync Manager (Windows).
I am using Windows 7, 32bit OS. I unistalled Palm Desktop 4.1.4 and HotSync Manager (Windows),
then downloaded Palm Desktop 6.2 and HotSync Manager (Windows) and everything works just fine now.
Here is the link for that version:

  • Hotsync problem with m515

    Hi,
I just recently bought an m515 second hand, but in great condition. I'm having problems with it hotsyncing. I have two computers with Windows Vista and with XP home, and neither works. Both have Palm Desktop Win4.14EN. I am trying to use my USB cradle to hotsync but my computer does not recognise that it is connected, and the PDA eventually ends the hotsync with "The connection between your handheld and the desktop could not be established. Please check your setup and try again."
Everything is plugged in, and that USB port works for other things like data cards. I am having no luck getting it to work and I really need help! Thank you.

Welcome to the Palm Support Community,Moirainewaw!
It does not work? Normally when you do HotSync for the
first time Windows will recognize the handheld as a "Palm Handheld"
and will start installing the appropriate software your your Palm...
Try running the Palm Desktop and Hotsync Manager in "Run as Administrator"
mode. If it still does'nt sync, then try re-installing Palm Desktop or install an
older version of the Palm Desktop...
Good luck with HotSyncing your Palm!

  • I'm having HotSync problems for my PalmZ22 on Windows 7 Computer

I downloaded all of the data that came with my Palm Z22 but the hotsync does not work. a message that says "The selected port, COM3, is not availble at this time. HotSync Manager will open the port when it becomes available." always pops up when i click on the hotsync manager icon after 10-30 minutes of me staring at the screen. when i go under setup, there are no other ports to swich to and when i hit ok the same message pops up immediately. i unplugged everything in my ports but the same thing happens and it seems like no one else has this problem. what is a "COM3" and how do i fix the problem i have?
    Post relates to: Palm Z22

Hello lis2013 and welcome to the Palm forums.
"COM" is the short name of a serial communications port, most commonly found on non-Mac computers.  3 refers to the third COM port.  Most new computers only have 1 COM port, if any, on them these days.  USB has by and large replaced serial com ports.  So that's the long and short of COM ports.
You'll want to go into the HotSync Manager on your computer and make sure you are setup for USB HotSync not COM ports.
And, while we're on the subject of Windows 7, USB, and HotSync, you'll want to read this thread on how to HotSync your Palm Z22 with your computer.

Have re-loaded software, done a hard re-set etc. When I do a Hot Sync, both say it has worked OK, but it hasn,t.Info doesn't pass between PC and PDA. However, I've just discovered something interesting that may be the problem, but I can't resolve it.
On my PC, I have (on left of palm desktop page) both Calendar and Date listed. Calender has info on it, date has no info. When I look at the Hot Sync applications section, calendar is not listed, but date book is. Hence, when I do a HotSync, the PC and PDA don't talk to one another!
Same with address etc. On PC I have both address and contacts listed. On HotSync Applications, address is listed, but not contacts. The PDA has contacts listed, but not address.
I have Tungstan E2, Palm 6.2.2, HS manager 7.0.2, Windows XP. Hot Symch with Palm OS, not Outlook

Try using directions in Palm Support Knoweldge Library
      03-01-2006 02:58 PM
I went to the Palm Support Knowledge Library at the website this forum is part of. I used Solution ID 38852 and followed the directions. I'm not sure exactly what worked, since I had trouble finding Login Items in the Preferences (#6), but did what it said as much as I could (deleted some of the Transport Monitors). I restarted the laptop and Hotsynced and, voila, it now works. Good luck.
