Hourglass next to each PDF document in Explorer

Hi! I am using Acrobat X and running XP Pro SP3. When I am Windows Explorer, whenever I highlight a PDF file with the cursor, the cursor turns into a hourglass for a second or two. Is this normal behavior? If so, can I disable it? I does not happen with any other file in Explorer (only PDF ones). This behavior has never happened to me before with Acrobat 7 and Acrobat Reader 8 and 9. Thank you for your assistance.

I didnt say abything about a email.
All i need is somehow get document from opened adobe reader in internet explorer (or other browsers) and send it somewhere.
I realize the javascript is bad way, i have access to pdf object, but i cannost send it from javascript. Javascript cant serialize the pdf object and send him to web service (no this is not email). So maybe the activex is better way, but i didnt find in adobe reader API something like getDocument() method i can call from web page.

I would like to use the "Find next string" of a PDF document with Preview.
When i fill the search window, Preview does the search on the entire document, and shows the first occurence it has found. Thus, making me loose my current reading page.
I just want to do a forward search !

How can I silently print all PDF documents that are opened automatically?

For a special terminal PC I want to print all PDF's that are opened to be printed automatically and without user interaction. The PDF is loaded in an iFrame in the browser, this PDF then needs to be printed.
I don't want to modify the PDF's, the PDF's are supplied by another resource.
I was thinking about using a folder level script that prints each PDF document automatically as soon as it is opened, but I don't know how to accomplish this.

You're using the wrong tools. PP shouldn't even be in consideration; I don't know about NeoOffice, but I tried its cousin LibreOffice, and it has issues with custom paper sizes; which is not surprising, given what these apps were designed for.
What you need for actual banners (not web page banners) is a vector drawing tool or a DTP app. I'd say Illustrator or InDesign, but Adobe CS is expensive, and, if you're thinking of PowerPoint for this job, you're not ready for it.
You can try Pages; although not quite DTP, it can do the job and it's inexpensive. There are other options, such as Swift Publisher (a DTP app) or Intaglio (a drawing app) -- both are more expensive than Pages, but still affordable; or you can go open source with Scribus (DTP) or InkScape (vector; requires X11). You already know the ups and downs of using open source. (These are just examples; you can find others if you look for them.)
Although it's better to have Kinko's printer driver, to make sure of the correct options, you don't actually need it to print to PDF. You should be able to define a custom page size (eg, 12in × 72in) and create the PDF from it. Any app which uses the Mac OS X standard print function should be able to do it.

Can I add Action button on each page of my pdf document

I have created many power point slides with an action button on each slide that allows the user to click to display a video clip.   I would like to create a pdf document of this and replace each of my action button in ppt with an action button that works in Acrobat.
I noticed that action buttons can be added to forms, but I want to be able to add an Action Button on each of my ppt slides to start playing a video clip (each slide will have a different video).
I would like to do this using any coding method (i.e. Javascript, VBA, C , etc).   I think acrobat uses Javascript.
The reason, is that I want to display my power point slides on an IPad and they don't support hyperlink in power point.   I believe IPad does suppport the full acrobat capabilities.
Can this be done ??
Any suggestions where to start ??

NO problem creating the buttons and then playing this back in Acrobat. Works great.
However, unfortunately, none of the PDF viewers for the iPad support playing movies.   So playing it there won't work :(.

How about if you right click on the PDF and select Save Link As..., and then open it locally from within Reader? Does it work ok then? That might be a workaround until the issue within the browser is resolved.

It only prints 1 page then my Brother MFC-J4510DW Printer says "Please put another piece of paper in the feed slot"....the problem is the print setting is set to "manual mode" in Windows 7 rather than "general setting". If you try to change the setting to "general", it will not accept the change.

I did try using the printParams feature and it worked, but since I need to be able to print sets of non-consecutive pages, I end up having to bring up the print dialogue multiple times and have the user set watermarks each time.
I decided to just create a new pdf in a temp directory containing the selected pages and open this document in a new window. This works well and allows them to use the print button on the window to print, bringing up the print dialogue just once. However, since I need to open the document in a way that shows the print button, I am using OpenInWindowEx, with AV_DOC_VIEW, and the option PDUseBookmarks or PDUseThumbs, rather than PDUseNone. This displays a toolbar which also includes icons for creating a new pdf, deleting pages, etc. I do not really want to include these icons on the toolbar. Is there a way to remove unwanted icons from the toolbar, or make them invisible?

Show PDF document in Browser (Internet Explorer)

I need to show a PDF document in Internet Explorer.
We have some static PDF documents in the application. Depending on user selection we determine the name of the PDF document and somehow we have to display in Browser.
Refer below code, steps and problem.
Step 1) I convert the PDF document to ByteArrayOutputStream using below code in a Java class and store this stream to a session variable.

Access to pdf document in internet explorer

Hi folks
My task is to send specific opened pdf document in adobe reader (as plugin in IE) to some web service.
I dont want to make plugin or adobe javascript, cos it would stay in adobe reader forever and i need that
function only in one moment.
Or maybe i want plugin or adobe javascript, but im very new in this stuff.
Workflow is that customer clicks to download pdf document, it opens in IE, he signs the pdf (i have solve this
already) and then click to my special button or do something and it sends the document back (for exapmple to webservice)
My question is, is that possible at all?
If yes, how?
I c only something like thru "classic" javascript i get acces to pdf document via adobe reader API and then also via javascript send the opened document. But i have no idea how

I have written plug-in( .api) for our use. But it's get called when ever I open any pdf document in internet explorer.
I am using Adobe Acrobat 10. What could be the problem. I don't want to call plug-in methods on internet explorer.
The plug-in method should call when am launch Adobe acrobat separately.
Please help me to solve this issue.

Is there anyway to stop this from happening?

While setting up the links, if you choose to open the file in a new window then you won't face this issue, then you can simply switch to the previous file and bookmark view will remain as it is.

Is it possible to give each page within one pdf document a specific set of print settings?

I have a complex document (catalogue) that requires printing. There are several different printer settings required and each one is specific to each page within the document. For instance pg 1 is single sided in colour, page 2-3 is duplexed in b&w, page 3-8 is duplexed in colour, etc.... Is it possible to give each page within the pdf document a given set of print settings and then print the entire document as a whole?

Well, you need a PDF viewer – and that would be Adobe Reader.
Those parameters only work for web-served documents, not for local ones.

Screen is open in Black PDf Document & not in Windows Explorer

Firefox's built-in PDF viewer is not as full-featured as Adobe's viewer and does not always handle advanced PDF layouts correctly. If you haven't already, try switching your PDF viewer in Firefox using the steps in this article: [[How to disable the built-in PDF viewer and use another viewer]].
Also, to make sure your Adobe viewer is up-to-date, I suggest opening your stand-alone Adobe application (either Adobe Acrobat or Adobe Reader) and using its Help menu > Check for Updates. Keeping the software up to date will help protect you from attacks that use specially crafted PDF documents to break into your system.

Pdf documents merging with each other

Hi all
I am facing a problem regarding writing pdf documents using iText. I have an application that generates different pdf documents using a common function that generates the pdf. Problem occurs when two or more people generate pdfs. Most of the times the pdfs get merged with each other, which is a serious problem. Please help me regarding this.
