Hourglass thumbnails in media grid

I upgraded from pse 9 to 12.  In my media grid the thumbnails are rendered as Hourglass.  Is ther a setting or upgrade that can resolve this display issue?  I do not have this issue in pse 9

First try selecting some hourglass  thumbnails and pressing F5. If that works, try selecting all the missing thumbs and doing the same.

  • Leica X1 DNG files not viewable thumbnails in Media Expression

    Hi-
I just bought a Leica X1 which shoots raw in DNG format but the raw DNG files it creates to not display thumbnails in Media Expression (formerly a micorsoft product, now Phase one).
    I am running mac OS X 10.6.4
One "solution" offered in the Leica forum was to run the Leica DNG file in DNG converter... I did and it worked but that is a really really clumsy solution to what I feel should not be a problem.... and renaming and deleting original files etc it a real PITA if you shoot any number of photos.
I know that Nikon had issues with new versions of NEF files which had something to do with "header changes" in the NEF file before ACR could decode them, and I'm wondering if there is some similar issue with DNG that I am not aware of.
Any information would greatly be appreciated.
    cheers,
    tom

the "appear for a moment" is probably Aperture showing the preview image in the .raw file, before deciding that it can't handle the raw image data.
(If it is this, then odds are Finder will show the images but Preview.app will also fail to.)
Clearly MacOS understands the .raw file format, but thinks that it doesn't have support for however your camera identifies itself in the EXIF data. Modifying the Raw.plist is the way to try, for now.

  • Thumbnails in alternating grid

I am working on a wordpress site with a gallery.
The gallery is generated dynamically by the Nextgen gallery plugin.
So the user adds pictures and the program makes it into a gallery.
The way the gallery looks can be styled throught  CSS.
I am trying some things out here:
(looks a mess but it is just a test)
    http://www.littlewings-wanbetaler.nl/wordpress/zuskookt-voor/
But what I would like is to lay out the thumbnails  in an alternating grid, like so:
    http://www.littlewings-wanbetaler.nl/thumbgrid.png
Is this possible at all with some really clever CSS ?
Apart from a class all the thumbs get an id which is created dynamically, everytime you add a picture .

This could be done fairly easily with a CSS styled Zebra Table.
    Simply
add more <td> columns to the one shown below:
Ok, but creating tables (or HTML) is not going to work, since the HTML is output by the gallery, which is created dynamically.
So i have to do it with the CSS, I think. My sourcecode looks like this:
    <div id="ngg-image-41" class="ngg-gallery-thumbnail-box"  >
        <div class="ngg-gallery-thumbnail" >
        <a href="http://www.example.comnIMG_1066.jpg" title=" " class="shutterset_set_5" >
        <img title="IMG_1066" alt="IMG_1066" src="http://www.example.comnIMG_1066.jpg" width="85" height="85" />
            </a>
            </div>
next thumbnail will be the same, only the id will be different: ngg-image-42
Found an example on the webs : http://www.jimdavis.org/test/checkerboard.html
which does what I want. It uses a blank div after the last picture on the first line and a blank div before the second line.

  • Thumbnails in library grid view won't load all the way

Anyone else getting this in LR 3.2? Kind of frustrating to only have half or so of the thumbnails in
grid library view load. This also happens in the scroll bar view.
    Win 7 64 bit

    Are these huge files?
Are you generating standard or 1:1 previews?
If 1:1 try switching to standard to see if that helps.

  • Timeline thumbnails show media offline, but media is not offline.

Short version: I opened a project today that I had been working on for a long time. Some of the thumbnails in one of my timelines show up as the red "Media off-line" image. But the media is not off-line. I can play the clips just fine. Everything else seems (more or less -- see below) normal except for a handful of these off-line thumbnails. It's not a disaster, but it makes it hard to find my way around. And I'm worried that it's a sign of something more serious wrong under the surface.
Long version: I'm using an older Macbook Pro with an ESATA expresscard. My media is all on external ESATA drives. My project file is on the Macbook's internal hard drive.
I use my Macbook as a desktop machine. The computer sits on a dedicated shelf on my desk. My cat makes a habit of sleeping on top of the machine. (You can probably guess where this is going.) Most of the time this is not a problem, but about a week ago he decided to stretch in just the wrong way and pushed the expresscard out of its slot. After screaming and throwing the cat across the room, I saved the project file, remounted the disks, re-opened the project file, and breathed a big sigh of relief when everything seemed to be fine. I quit FCP again and put the project on hold for about a week.
Today I reopened the same project file and the trouble started. At first all the timeline thumbnails showed up as media-offline, even thought all indications were that it was on-line. In addition, all my audio and video renderings were gone. I re-did them, and after a while some of the thumbnails restored themselves as well. But not all of them.
All of which has me a little flustered.
Has anyone encountered anything like this before? Is there a way to force FCP to refresh the timeline thumbnails? It's hard to find my way around now that all the clips look the same.
    Thanks.

i've experienced this before, but i can't really remember how i sorted it,
i may have deleted the thumbnails out of the scratch disc, or it may have been that i switched the timeline view to name only saved and closed down, then opened it up again and switched them back on to refresh
but i know on no refresh thumbnails button in fcp itself

  • How to view thumbnail image in Grid before uploading

I am creating a file upload application. I am using a Grid with a filereferencelist object to list all of the uploaded files. I would like to place a thumbnail image of the file in the grid before it is uploaded. I basically used this example from Coding Cowboys (http://weblog.cahlan.com/2006/12/flex-upload-component.html) but I need to add a column for the thumbnail image.

I seen examples of an image getting loaded into a canvas.
    http://mariusht.com/blog/2009/04/01/loading-local-images-directly-into-flash-player-10/
    http://techblog.floorplanner.com/2009/05/04/load-modify-and-save-local-images-with-flash-p layer-10/
What if I used this as an Item Render field in the grid?

  • No thumbnails inside media browser

I love the new media browser inside AE, but it serves me no good if I cannot see any thumbnails to my XdCam footage. Any possible reason this is happening? Bug? Codec issue? Any help thanks!

That feature is not implemented yet.
The Media Browser implementation in After Effects CC (12.2) is just the bare minimum necessary for Adobe Anywhere.
We will be implementing more of the features in the Media Browser in the next couple of releases in 2014. No promises, but I think that the features that you're looking for regarding thumbnail previews will come in the second half of this year, of all goes well.

  • Thumbnails disappear in Grid

I have used LR since v1.0 with every single update in between and never had any major issues with LR including out-of-memory erros, upside-down red text on pics, adj. brush performance, now ahve run into this problem.
Thumbnails disappear just before the final high-quality pass. Scrolling out and into view make them redraw, just to disappear again together with the three dots. The neweste thread on the topic I was able to find was dated Sep, 2007: Grid thumbnails disappear after 1/2 second . It didn't solve my problem.
    Some observations:
The problem only affects JPEG images, all other work fine.
Filmstrip is not affected, only grid view.
It's only when the thumbnail info includes the file extension, both in compact and extended mode. (see screenshot 1 and 2)
Metadata panel info is not shown for affected images. Keywording panel is fine.
Synchronize folder fails (does nothing) if the folder has at least one JPEG.
Exporting to a new catalog doesn't cure the problem.
Importing images into a fresh catalog does solve the problem.
    Trashing prefs, TranslatedStrings.txt doesn't help.
Since the only thing that helps is a fresh catalog, my conclusion is catalog corruption. Unfortunately this is not an option for me: too many collections, VCs, flags and stacks lost. I need to cure the catalog. Binary, the catalog seems to be fine — it's been optimized and it passes the integrity test. Also I have opened it with 3rd party utilities (SQLiteSpy).
I attached a small catalog (change extension from .txt to .zip, sorry) with 1 image that exhibits the problem. It was exported form my main catalog.

    DonRicklin wrote:
Actually, though she will likely pass them on it is Daniel Tull at Adobe that has been investigating and repairing Catalogs. He can be contacted at dantull at gmail.com to see if he will still take one and how to send it.
That's what I did and, voila, my catalog is healty again! :-)
For the record, Daniel found that this behaviour was caused by a null value in the sidecarExtensions field of the AgLibraryFile table in the catalog. It has to be an empty string ("") rather than null, otherwise Lightroom goes nuts. Why was is null? Because I did it myself, stupid me. Too much fooling around with my own catalog.

  • New version of iWeb does not display photo thumbnails in media panel

Thats about it. Just upgraded to latest version of iWeb 1.1.1 and now no thumbnails are displayed in media panel. Rich

Well, how do you think I guessed that was the problem?!! I had spent a frustrated 2 hours cursing iWeb until I realised what was going on...
It's always good when the fix is a simple one!

  • Changing Thumbnail Size in Grid View: How?

Im supposed to have a slider that allows me to change the size of my thumbnails.
I cant figure out how to get it back on my UI.
Where is the menu that tells it to show on the interface?
    Thanks.

  • Why can't I see recently uploaded photos in my grid view?  I have to click on the hourglass image to see each photo individually.

Until recently, each time I upload photos from my camera or other source, I've been able to see the thumbnails in my "grid" view.  However, the most recent uploads only appear as hourglass thumbnails.  When I click on each thumbnail, the photo appears, but when I return to the grid view, only the hourglass thumbnails of the recently loaded photos show.  Photos loaded earlier appear as normal thumbnails in the grid view.
    Help!!

If you want to control the size of the photos select them in iPhoto and export to a desktop folder using the various size options available during export - then attach to your e-mail from the folder

  • FLVs created with ADOBE MEDIA ENCODER CS6 do not display thumbnails in ADOBE BRIDGE CS6

Could you please attempt to shed some light on why FLVs created with ADOBE MEDIA ENCODER CS6 do not display thumbnails in ADOBE BRIDGE CS6, yet apple finder is able to display thumbnails for these same FLVs without issue?
I'm running CS6 Production Premium with ALL updates installed on 10.6.8
I appreciate any input and help provided the input is provided by someone who either
    A) knows the answer because they actually work for adobe
    B) actually tried this themselves before attempting to provide a solution
If the conclusion is that it is a codec issue or a header issue with the FLVs You'd have to present a very strong case to back that claim up as it makes no sense whatsoever that CS6 is unable to generate thumbnails for media encoded using CS6, yet Apple finder can without issue. NOT to mention the FLVs in question are CREATED on the same machine with the same codecs installed that is trying to generate previews in Bridge.
Apologies if my frustration is showing, I've gotten and seen several... incompetent replies on this forum regarding this issue and it has never been actually addressed properly as far as I can tell by Adobe support.

We are all just incompetent users here.  As pointed out before this is just a user to user forum, Adobe rarely checks in.
I was hoping by now you would have gotten to the bottom of this problem and were offering a solution.

  • No thumbnails in PP Media Browser

    Hello,
I am working on MacOS X with Adobe CS4 Production Premium. Our footage is either Sony XDCAM EX or AVCHD. The XDCAM files are copied via Sony's Clip Browser, i.e. with the complete BPAV structure. The AVCHD files are transfered via iMovie, resulting in .mov files with the Apple Intermediate codec. The reason being that Canon does not deliver any transfer software for Mac with its AVCHD camcorders.
Anyway, the result usually is quite a bunch of directorys and files, that would be great if it could be browsed easily. Unfortunately, Adobe Bridge can only show the transfered AVCHDs, not the XDCAM EX files. The media browser on the other hand does not allow for quick browsing, since it does not show any thumbnails. Neither for the movs nor for the XDCAM files. I only get a list of the file names. These are not helpfull at all, since that only tells me which camera was used and the order in which the clips where shot.
Now I saw on Adobe TV a video from MAX 2009 with a screencapture of Premiere with the media browser open and thumbnails all over the place. This is what I wished for all the time. Why do I not get thumbnails in media browser?
    Kind regards,
    Andreas

Why do I not get thumbnails in media browser?
Currently, these only work with DVCPro HD media from P2 cards.

  • Movie thumbnail previews in Coverflow and Grid view...not there

I'm using Snow Leopard and have both QT-X and QT 7 Pro on my MacBook Pro.
In Finder, I have a folder containing several movie types including mpeg, avi, mov, qt, m4v, mp4, flv and wmv
I've noticed that I don't see thumbnail previews for any of these movies and wondered if anybody else can see their thumbnails, either in Grid View or Coverflow
In 3-column view, the thumbail appears once the file is highlighted.
In iTunes, the thumbnail also appears (for those that can be added to the Library)
I also have the latest Perian and Flip4Mac apps installed.
I've tried re-launching Finder after deleting the com.apple.quicklook.plist file
    Thanks

I also tried this (deleting the Quicklook cache) and no luck, still the same issue.
I did a clean installation and this works
However, I did again the installation and imported my USER profile in FULL via the assistant when you first configured Snow Leopard (using an FULL BACKUP copy and/or Time Machine Backup) and then problem reappears
I have reinstalled DivX, Desinstalled RealPlayer deinstalled Perian and still the same issue. I cannot see the Thumbnails or the Cover Flow of the video/movie file such MPG, MPG, AVI, WMV but it works for MP4 I have for my IPod
I finally gave up and left this last installation and I did not have the energy to migrate my data, emails, settngs, etc manually.
By the way, the upgrade from Leopard 10.5.8 towards Snow Leopard 10.6 was smooth but the performance was awful specially after installing 10.6.1. With the upgrade I had the same issue with my USER account or with any, NO THUMBSNAILs for most of my videos enough though they are played correctly in Quicktime and Quicklook....
    Any help????

  • New thumbnails showing up as hourglass older ones fine Photoshop elements 7

I had been using Adobe photoshop elements 7 for several years now with no problems. about a week ago my thumbnails began not showing up on newly added photos. All of the older photo's thumnails show up as usual in the organizer, however anything new I add either by scan or with my camera now shows up as an hourglass thumbnail. When I select it the full size shows up as a regular picture/photo. Just thumbnails showing up as hourglass (only on newly added ones all older ones still show up correctly. Can not find any way or setting to get this back to way it belongs. I uninstalled the program and reinstalled it and still not working....

Not sure what OS are you using.
Assuming it is Windows, Close Organizer.  1.Go to Start panel, Type %programdata%
    2. Go to Adobe folder.
    3. Then Elements Organizer folder.
    4. Click on Catalogs folder.
    5. Locate the exact catalog you are using, click on the name.
    6. Delete the file face.thumb.9.cache and thumb.5.cache.
    7. Then go to BreezeData folder, Delete the file BreezeSession.dat.
Open PSE Organizer, it should generate all thumbnails.
