Hourly Siren on MacBook Pro I7

Hello all,
I'm currently using a brand new MacBook Pro (13", I7, 4GB RAM, 500GB HD). I owned it in begining of may on USA and since last weekend a problem is occurring every full hour (10:00, 11:00, 12:00 and on). A Siren alarm is coming out from the speaker and lasts arount 10 seconds, then stops and get back in the next hour.
All my Apps are official, none of them is creacked or with shared key. Last thing I got installed was the MS Office 2010 (official HUP program licence).
I've ran the Hardware Test that cames on the original DVD kit, none has been reported, it seems that everything is OK.
I'v e already searched for Calendar items (none there), scheduled items (none), viruses alarms (also nothing). I'm about to format and re instal the Mac OSx, once is getting hart to find a solution, but I'd realy rather to find the issue, either to heve this rot cause known (for other users) and also because the system is fine taking this particular issue apart (the computer is fast, is not alarming on power on or off...).
If you guys could help me in any hints or tips, I'd be gratefull.
Thanks a lot!!
Kind regards,
Diogo Pinheiro.

Hello all,
The problem is currently gone.
Yesterday I've turn the computer on safe mode for a test, and the sound didn't show up.
After that, The computer was restarted in a normal mode and the siren sound is gone so far. The only thing I did was put it on safe mode an get back to normal mode, nothing else .
Today, I brought my computer to my office to keep it monitored, and so far, everything is Ok.I have to consider that here it is disconnected from the internet (I have it connected to my iPhone personal hotspot but even though the sound didn't show up).
This is realy bad, once I've scheduled a appointment on Apple Store near me, and the computer now is fine...
I'll keep this post updated either if the sound is definitely gone or not.
Thanks a lot!

  • How many hours should the macbook pro 2013 battery last

so i hve this new macbook pro 2013 and its 15 inches ive been taking care of it i keep the brightness low but comfortable, anything i dont need such as bluetooth is off but when i first bought it it lasted 8 hours now it lasts for 4-5 hours is that bad or good and can someone tell me how i can take care of it in a better way?

you might have something running in the background - open activity monitor and check the %CPU section under All Processes and not My Processes.  Anything running around 10% and above will drain your battery.

  • Calendar time is 2 hours off of macbook pro time

Installed Mtn Lion. Calendar reflects a time (the indicator line through today's date). It is off by two hours. It reschedules all my appointments.

Open Calendar, click Preferences > Advanced
Look at "Turn on Time Zone Support".  Uncheck it.

  • I have SimCity 4 Rush Hour on my macbook pro running Lion. It worked ok on Snow Leopard, why not now?

I have a feeling its the lack or Rosetta on Lion thats at fault here. If so, is there any way to get it back? If not, how can I continue to play?

It's not as simple as just using the Patch file I'm afraid, lots of players are having issues with NAM files as well as other components even with that Patch in place (which has been available for a long time now). What seems most successful is running the Windows version under Darwine or other PC emulator. They are working on it but don't expect a simple fix any time soon.

  • MacBook Pro for FCPX

    Hey guys,
To begin with, I have a GoPro Hero 3 Black Edition and usually record in 1080p at 60fps. I make videos of surfing and extreme sports with it
in Final Cut Pro X. I also upload my videos to YouTube, download and watch HD movies, and just common surfing on the web. My school has just decided that we need a MacBook Pro as our new IT tool. I am currently using a late-2012 iMac with the following specs:
    -2.9 GHz i5 quad-core processor (turbo-boost to 3.6)
    -8GB 1600MHz DDR3 RAM
    -1 TB Hard Drive
-NVIDIA GeForce GTX 660M 512 MB Graphics Card
    -Serial- CO2KGQAFDNCV
I am fairly pleased with using my current computer for everything except for workload applications like Final Cut X, Appearture, ect. I am not pleased with the export and render time of Final Cut Pro X as it usually takes up to and hour.
The MacBook Pro that I am thinking of getting is the 13.3' Late-2013 Retina model with
    -i7 2.8 GHz dual-core processor (turbo-boost to 3.3)
-8 GB or 16 of RAM
    -256 Flash Storage
    -Intel Iris Graphics
-External Passport Hard Drive (for video projects)
Would this be enough for what I am currently doing with my computer? Should I get 16 RAM or not?
I opted out of the 15 inch because I am looking for a fairly portable computer and I really don't need a bigger screen.
    Thanks for any opinion

    Yes, get the i7.
Not a waste on money for video and rendering.

  • Macbook pro reboot white screen

I had my computer plugged in and left it for 6 hours.  My Macbook pro went to screen saver mode.  I came back, hit the space bar and the circle spun and spun so I hit the power button.  A minute later I reboot the computer.  The screen came on and nothing else.  I waited and waited.  Nothing!  When I barely touch the power button it turns off instantly.  I hit the power button again to turn it on and same thing.  Power light comes on very bright then dims and then blinks and goes out.  When I hold the power button for a long time I here the power up sound and then nothing.  What can I do?

  • Macbook pro (15" - end 2011) battery life only works 3 hours - can you help me!!?

Hi since i updated to Mountain Lion, my Macbook pro 15" (december 2011) only works for 3 hours instead of 5 hours with Lion.
I've been waiting for 6 months now a release from Apple to fix this. Are you planning to do something for users like me?
for reminder number of battery cycle as up to today = 131...
Is there someone who can help me? or facing the same problem?
    Thank you

Apple doesn't read the threads. File feedback is probably the best way to reach them. You won't get an answer.

I have Snow Leopard (10.6) installed. Why is this happening?

    Hi LeonardoGolden,
You should definitely be getting more than 2 hours with that sort of Full Charge Capacity on your machine. I have the same model and a slightly lower battery capacity and I'm getting 4+ hours of web surfing and document composition.
Out of curiosity, how is the machine being used? It's obviously a pretty new unit (with only 3 cycles), if you go into Activity Monitor, change the drop down to "All Processes" is there anything consuming more than 10% CPU load? What applications are using during this two hour window?

  • Macbook pro mid 2011 battery lasting only 3 hours

How can I get my brand new Macbook pro mid 2011 battery to last longer, now it's lasting only 3 hours.

Do not believe the advertised specs from any manufacturer regarding battery life.  In the real world expect about 60% to 70% of those figures.  Battery life is influenced by many factors,  Among these are display brightness, the number and type of applications you are running, if the optical drive is used, external devices that may be attached etc.
3 hours seems a bit low but not necessarily out of line.  Go to SYSTEM PROFILER>POWER and see what it says by 'Condition'.  If it is other than 'normal' you may have battery issues (Explanations then can be found in FINDER>HELP).
    Ciao.

  • My new Macbook Pro only lasts 3 hours.

I bought a new 15-inch Macbook Pro in late June when the newer versions with better battery life were introduced. Unfortunately, my battery always lasts less than 3 hours. I lowered most of the default energy preferences (such as dimming the screen enormously) and turned off my wireless port, but it still only lasts 3 hours.
Did I accidentally receive an old Macbook Pro or what? Is the 7 hour battery life just a great exaggeration?

Well... it would be easy enough to tell if you have the older version. If the bottom of your case is a single piece of aluminum, you have the new one... if it is split in the middle with a latch (for the removable battery) you would have the old one. Apple, like everyone else, gives a "best case" scenario when it comes to battery life. Dimming the display helps... but the way you use your machine will have a great impact as well. If you are doing things that require more processing power, you will eat away at your charge faster. Also... does it actually last three hours or are you going by the estimate provided in the menu bar? The estimate is calculated by the load in your system at any given time. If you just have your machine on... but not doing anything, the estimate will be much longer than if you're running applications. To get a better idea of your usage, you should view the percentage remaining (vs. the time). The percentage remaining is the actual percentage remaining vs. an estimate.

  • I have the 13 inch macbook pro bought in august 2011,the battery life instead of 7 hours lasts only for 3-4 hours why is this so

i was very impressed when i saw the 7 hour battery life of the macbook 13 in the store . but after using the system it only lasted 3-4 hours completely , same was the case for windows 7 pro. all the other functions of my mac are working fine.I buyed the system pin packed in front of me.I questioned the retailer about this but he had no clue what was happenig which caused this.I think this has something to do with china as my mac has been assembled in china and designed by apple californiahttp://computershopper.com/laptops/reviews/apple-macbook-pro-13-inch-2011-versio n these are the specs and the review of the system.but remove the phenominal battery life from the pros.I'm new to apple so please also provide me a location where i can get apple support in Pakistan

The 7 hour battery life is maximum that can be expected with minimal drain, but 3-4 hours either means you are using it very, very hard or the battery is bad. OR the gauge needs calibration, see below.
Turn off WiFi if you are not using it, and dim the display to also save battery power. It also depends on the applications that you are using.
One months is  awfully fast for you to lose that much battery time. If the laptop was new, then I would talk to the seller about an exchange, at least exchanging the battery.
Have you tried calibrating the battery? See
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?path=Mac/10.6/en/9036.html
for how. Please note, this only calibrates when the MBP charges the battery and resets the calibration of time or percentage of battery charge left. The lithium battery does not have a memory.

  • Battery Life on brand new macbook pro 15 inch i5 only lasting 3 hours

The battery on my macbook pro is only lasting 3 hours with light use...If i'm watching a video or on a game it lasts maybe an hour or 2. I charged it fully when I first got it out of the box 2 days ago.
I have tried calibrating it which worked a little bit. But still nothing like the promised 8 hours. Not even near 6 hours.
    Can anybody help?

I tell you how to maximise it mate .. Fully charge your battery and leave it on charge for 2 hours .and then create the minimum power consumption scenario ( kill bluetooth , minimise brightness , kill all apps etc ) AND THEN remove the plug .. use at this state until about 70% charge and continuously monitor the capacity like I mentioned earlier when you see it hit a high, plug it in you will see now that will become your permanent capacity .. allow full charge and leave it plugged for a day . .repeat the same .. after about a week now this time do the same but reduce down to the 40% range and always plug in at a high capacity point..you will train you r battery this way ..
I am glad I could help .. altho it took a bit of fighting the external obstructions it's all good
    take care ,,
