House numbers on Nokia Drive

Hi,
I have a Lumia 800 running 7.5 and the latest version of Drive.
Since the first time I used it, I was never able to get it to accept a house number anywhere in northern Portugal. It only allows me to navigate to stored or searched Locations or street numbers.
I've tried the following formats, to no avail:
[Street Name] [House number]
[Street Name] , [House number]
[House number] [Street Name]
Also, how can I force it to search in specific towns or cities? Some street names are very common (imagine a "Main Street") and if I want to drive to the other side of the country, it gets annoying really fast and I end up driving to [City name] and select the street when I am actually near.
Thanks!
Solved!
Go to Solution.

Works for me here and this is the format i use
(house number), (street), (town)

  • Nokia drive 3.0 unable to sync favorites

Is there a way to sync Drive3.0 Favorites to Nokia account?  If not how can I transfer favourites from Nokia Maps ?

It might be me, but if Nokia maps is installed on my Lumia 800 and the favourites are synced and stored on my phone, I would have thought Nokia Maps & Nokia Drive (both by Nokia) apps could access these synced favourites, after all what is the point on having to enter every destination for 'drive' when it's already stored by you in the 'maps' app. This does to things: 1. Annoys people having to enter things twice. 2. Wastes storage space on the phone (even though it might only be a small ammount). Also Nokia maps on my C6 seems more accurate, as I live at number 9 and my C6 says either 11 or 13, but Nokia Drive says number 24. Which is on the other side of the street and 5 houses away. Even my Garmin says number 11. It's. A pitty that all Satnav units and apps could not allow the user to calibrate then to there exact position. E.G. while outside our home, use a calibration option and press cursors until it shows the exact location. From then on everything should be correctly displayed.

  • Routing issue with Nokia Drive on Lumia 900

So I finally tried to use Nokia Drive on a real trip (in New Jersey, USA) and I've noticed that the software often seems stuck on returning you to the originally plotted route when you deviate from it, instead of finding the best remaining route based on the new location. I'll give details for my particular trip in case this is a local issue.
We decided to take the NJ Turnpike to route 18 to River Road to Interstate 287 instead of 295 to 206 to 287 as Nokia Drive recommended (the routes are roughly equivalent in travel time, so I don't fault this initial route selection). When we entered the Turnpike, the new route kept trying to get us to 295 until we passed Exit 7 (In reality, past Exit 5 there isa considerable penalty to getting off the turnpike and onto I 295).
Finally, after Exit 7 it decided we should stay on the turnpike and get to 287 directly using Exit 10 (This too is roughly equivalent in travel time, so it was a reasonable suggestion). Once we took Exit 9 to route 18 instead it picked a different route than the one we are familiar with and this is where the biggest problem occurred. The route it suggested would enter 287 North at Exit 7, while the route we took entered 287 at Exit 9. It kept insisting we get back on its rout and get on at exit 7 to the point that when we were about to enter 287 at exit 9, it told us to get onto 287 *south* and take it to exit 7 where we would exit the highway and immediately re-enter it northbound. This is rediculous and should never have been suggested.
Am I right in my assessment that the software tries to stick to the original route instead of calculating a new one on the spot? What possible advantage can there be in doing it this way?
    Thanks in advance,
    Boris

Here is a quite stupid example on route recalculation and how it tries to return to the route originally suggested. The recalculated route suggests that I turn right, drive a few meters and then make a U-turn. The error is not in map data itself. The other picture shows that turning left is not forbidden.

  • G5, 2.7 using OSX10.4.11: I want to clone the hard drive. Instead of housing the new hard drive in an external case could I put it into an idle G5 that currently has no hard drive (an elaborate external case, so to speak)? If so, how then to connect the 2

G5, 2.7 using OSX10.4.11: I want to clone the hard drive. Instead of housing the new hard drive (during the cloning process) in an external case, could I simply install the new hard drive into an idle G5 that has no hard drive in it thus using the idle G5 as an elaborate external case? What cables would I use to connect the 2 computers? Ethernet?  USB?  Could I use the firewire cable that is normally used by my Apple camera (the camera that is an aluminum tube, I forget the name of that thing). The idle G5 is a 1.6 model, would that matter?  Thanks

I personally can think of two options.
    1. Mount the drive in which the copy of the first hard drive will go to inside of the 2.7gHZ G5's case. There is room for two hard drives in there. See Link for Help
    http://manuals.info.apple.com/en/PMG5_HD_DIY.pdf
Once it is installed, simply boot off of your Mac OS Install media (CD, DVD, USB) it can be any version that supports the PowerPC platform. You need to boot holding the "C" key. Then choose Disk Utility and hit the restore tab. Drag the old partition to the "Source" field and the new hard drive to the "destination" field.
    2. Put the second hard drive into the second (idle) G5. You will need a copy of the Mac OS install DVD as again you cannot clone a drive when it is in use (running the operating system). Hold down the "T" key at boot up and then a firewire logo will bounce on the monitor. then plug the cable into the 2.7 g5 and start it up
I hope that this is helpful.
    Long Live the PowerPC G5

  • Nokia Drive questions on Lumia 800.

I bought a Lumia 800 over the weekend as my last phone was about to drive me around the twist. I've been very impressed with the Windows interface and the phone over all.
One of the reasons I went for the Lumia was the Nokia Drive app. I work in field sales and travel the length a breadth of this country so I need a reliable sat nav. Previously I've used CoPilot live on an Android which worked well for me.
This morning I did my first trip with the Nokia Drive app and it worked ok up until a point.
I received a call, no problems answered fine through bluetooth not an issue. HOWEVER when the call ended the Nokia Drive app did not resume/return to main screen. instead I got the lock screen with a very garbled background image.
Hoping the Nokia drive app was running in the background I kept driving but after a few turns it was planly clear that the app had closed. I therefore had to pull over to restart the app. Once I unlocked the screen the app did resume. I was just glad I was making a trip I was familiar with and testing the app functionality.
I take/make a lot of calls while travelling I need a nav app that I do not have to re-setup everytime I hang up a call. Can this be addressed in Nokia drive or can someone suggest an alternative app to use instead?

  • Nokia Drive on Windows Phone- the future. What can...

    Hi Everyone,
The question is obviously pointed towards Nokia representatives here, but we're all probably interested in, more or less. So:
What can we expect from Nokia Drive (and Maps...) in future? Are we gonna be given back at least the basic functionality of what there was/is in Symbian Maps version?
    Precisely, I mean:
    - Destination selection basing on tapping the screen + FAVORITES
    - Route calculation customization (fast, short etc.)
    - Advanced planning, including multiple points on the route
    - POI handling in an up-to-date manner (menus and lists of POIs)
    - ... integration with ovi.com web service
I'm still hesitating between new Lumias and Android phones and, to be honest, Nokia Drive seems to be the deal breaker for me.
Another reason for asking is that, while we have a lot of info about Nokia Drive 3.0 featuring live traffic and all the magic stuff, that info still doesn't say anything about re-introducting the very basic functions of navi system.
I can imagine that maanny people think the same way and aren't happy with the navigation functionality drop with the WP introduction to Nokia.
    Thanks!
    Michael

    @jamiekt
No reason to assume that they won't get updated 3 - 4 times a year as Nokia Maps upon Symbian OS devices do currently.

  • Nokia Drive offline

    Hi All,
I'm using Nokia Drive on my N8 for the first time today, when I opened the application it asked me if I wanted Online or Offline mode. I chose Online. Now I realise that I should have chosen Offline, however it seems I can't change the setting in Nokia Drive now. There is no "Connection" option or similar in the Settings menu. How do I switch Nokia Drive to default to Offline mode now, or am I stuck with Online mode for ever? Thanks for any help!
Note; moved post to separate thread as it was posted in wrong forum. Edited title to reflect new thread.

Well, I have the latest version that's actually a suite of multiple apps... you set them up opening the "Maps" app, go to general settings, you'll find the online/offline setting there.
That should affect the "Drive" App as well.
    hope this helps...
    cheers

  • 805a01f4 error with updating nokia drive

Hello, I have bought a new windows 8 phone from Nokia. Every feature which is default with the phone is great and I have no issues with any of them. But when am trying to open the Windows Store to update Nokia drive, am getting the error code with the message "Error Code : 805a01f4 The Store is not available at the moment please try again." I tried to open it many times but all the time I get the same message. I havn't had any problems with every other application update, only with Nokia drive.
If the microsoft has provided any fix in advance for this error, please let me know about it completely. Thank you.

That's nor the issue neither the point: It's just the Drive+-app which is causing trouble to update; the other Apps & the store in general are working just fine.
The point is that Nokia is making big fame on their website by stating that the Drive+-app is a major improvement over other smartphones as they off a complete SatNav-solution for free.
Customers like me who have fallen for this, are being cheated, because in the end the App doesn't deliver & can't be updated.
The errorcode doesn't seem to have anything to do with the store, just with the availability of the update. Strange however that we are been presented with the same 'general' error.
Patience? When I just bought a brandnew car, I guess it won't be considered normal to return to the dealer with complains about the functionality of the steering wheel, & just get the answer: "Yeah, we know, have some patience, we will fix it in the near future. Perhaps...".

  • House numbers

    Hi,
I am working on a query that needs to group addresses and should return the first and last house number in that group. However the house numbers are stored as varchar2, but I want a first and last with a best effort to sort them numerically.
Housenumber can have values like '1', '1A', '1_2', '10' etc.
My approach was to sort first on the numerical part, using to_number and regexp_substr and a second sort by the varchar2.
    Something like:
with t as ( select 1 id, '10' hn from dual union all
select 1,    '1'     from dual union all
select 1,    '1A'    from dual union all
select 1,    '11'    from dual union all
select 1,    '11B'   from dual union all
select 1,    '1_2'   from dual union all
select 1,    '1 B'   from dual union all
select 1,    '2A'    from dual union all
                select 1,    '1-2'   from dual )
    select hn from t
order by to_number(regexp_substr(hn,'[0-9]*')),hnWhich gives the sorted output:
    HN
    1
    1 B
    1-2
    1A
    1_2
    2A
    10
    11
11BPerfect! But I am stuck at the second step. I want the id, the first (ie '1') and last ('11B') grouped:
    ID FIRST LAST
1  1     11BIt feels like I've done 99% and only need a tiny step... oh, and we have 3+ million addresses (without an index on the house number), so performance is a concern :)
    I am on 10.2.0.4.0
    Thanks!

    Hi,
So you want only one row per id? That sounds like a job for GROUP BY:
    SELECT       id
    ,       MIN (hn) KEEP ( DENSE_RANK      FIRST
                     ORDER BY TO_NUMBER (REGEXP_SUBSTR (hn, '[0-9]*'))
                      )     AS first
    ,       MAX (hn) KEEP ( DENSE_RANK      LAST
                     ORDER BY TO_NUMBER (REGEXP_SUBSTR (hn, '[0-9]*'))
                      )     AS last
    FROM       t
    GROUP BY  id
;Depending on what you know about the numbers, you might be able to do something more efficient.
For example, if you know that the number (or at least the number that you use for sorting) comes at the very beginning of hn, and that it is never more than 6 digits long, you could try:
    SELECT       id
    ,       MIN ( REGEXP_REPLACE ( '     ' || hn
                          , '[0-9 ]*([0-9 ]{6})'
                          , '\1'
               )                 )     AS first
    ,       MAX ( REGEXP_REPLACE ( '     ' || hn
                          , '[0-9 ]*([0-9 ]{6})'
                          , '\1'
               )                 )     AS last
    FROM       t
    GROUP BY  id

  • House Numbers using Map Builder

    Hi everyone!
I am using Oracle Map Builder (ver. 11.1.1.0.0) in order to draw house numbers along streets, using 20% and 80% offset along the street axis for the "from" and "to" numbering, respectively, and 20% and -20% offset vertically to the street axis for the two sides of the street, respectively.
To my understanding so far, I am able to do this using the Arrow option from the Overall Line Style Option, where I will have to select a Marker Style for which I would have defined the X and Y Offset parameters in the Marker Text Style Option, while the marker's symbol would have 0% opacity, since I wouldn't like any symbol drawn with my house numbers.
Since I think it is a bit silly to use a Marker Style for this reason only because of its offset options, is it possible to do the same using a Text Style (where the offset options seem to be inactive)?
    Thanks in advance,
    Panagiotis
PS: Sorry for cross posting with the Spatial Forum -I think this forum is more suitable for my inquiry.

    Hi
After all, the Arrow option from the Overall Line Style Option does not support the functionalities needed to draw house numbers along streets, since not only the the X or Y axis of the offset options do not follow the direction of the line (street), but the offset parameters are measured in distance units only (i.e. pt, mm and so forth) and not in a percentage of the line's length (from its beginning or end), as well.
Is anyone aware of such functionalities be included in coming versions of MapBuilder?
    Regards,
    Panagiotis

  • Home Location Nokia Drive +

    Hello
I have recently purchased Nokia Lumia 925. How can i setup Home Location in Nokia Drive +.

There's no "home" setting in Here Drive, but you can rename a saved destination to "Home" and use it.

  • Using Nokia Drive Offline

We've just bought two Lumias (920 & 620), our first Nokias since 2002, and have been delighted with them.
However, I have a concern about Nokia Drive. For a "free" App still in Beta it is excellent but it does seem unusable offline, being unable to find many major roads even in London. Allowing online search is essential to plan a route almost anywhere.
For home country use this is not an issue for most people who have data allowances in their contracts and PAYG top-ups but searching while roaming (and this is when you most often *really* need SatNav) could generate unwanted and unpredictable charges.
I'm travelling to Spain this summer and don't want to get to get stuck somewhere that has no network coverage. My questions are:
    * Why is the offline data so poor (yet downloaded maps appear quite detailed)
    * Will this problem be addressed any time soon
Might have to dust off the crabby old HTC Kaiser with TomTom this summer.

OK so I agree that you can get the basic street layout in airplane mode.
But I want to be able to get all the data - at very least the street names, and ideally landmark pins - which I don't currently get. Is there any way to control what level of detail is downloaded?

  • Gps and nokia drive

Hi, i have the new Nokia lumia why is necessary to have data connection to use Nokia drive? I this phone have a god why doesn't work with it. I had a Nokia x6 and Nokia maps it worked perfectly.could you make that Nokia drive works only with god and no with data transfer?
    Thanks

With the Lumia 800, even though you can pre-download map data, you can only search online for the moment. I am told this is still work in progress and full offline navigation should be available soon in future updates.

    Hi Ankit07,
Thank you for your first post and welcome to the Nokia discussion forums.
    To answer your questions:
    1. The maps application are updated quite frequently throughout the year but I wouldn't be able to give you any specifics on the exact amount.
    2.  Again I wouldn't be able to give you an exact answer but when you do decide to download a specific map it tells you the size of the map data.
    3. Currently Nokia Drive has navigation maps for 90 countries although this is likely to change. Please keep an eye out for future updates.
    Thank you for your questions.
