Housekeeping OEM 12c Repository

Hello
Are there any housekeeping scripts for the Oracle Enterprise Manager 12c repository (with Bundle Patch 1) available? I didn't find anything in the documentation. There are only hints what can be done and what metrics do indicate that the OEM doesn't work well in chapter: Enterprise Manager Cloud Control Performance Methodology (Link: http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E24628_01/install.121/e24089/sizing.htm#BCGJIIGI)

  • Installation of OEM 12c and DB 12c / repository

    Hi,
currently I am using an Oracle DB 11.2.0.1 to get to know Oracle (administration, SQL, PL/SQL) and to prepare for certification.
Now I want to install OEM 12c with Plugin DB 12c because there are many new features that are not covered in 11.2. Therefore I need 11.2.0.3. or an upgrade to 11.2.0.3 as database repository for OEM 12c. But I can not install 11.2.0.3 or upgrade to this version because a support ID is required for download.
How can I install EM 12c and DB 12c for the purpose of learning oracle and testing Oracle related features using my OTN account as usual?
    Thanks in advance.
    Best regards
    Eli

    Hi,
    @sybrand_b
    thanks for your message.
I have already read some documents and the installation of Oracle 12c including EM Express was successful. Then I tried different OEM combinations but ended up in non compatible OEM12c - repositoryDB - DB12c scenarios or would have needed a support ID.
I am slightly confused regarding full versions, updates and plugins, compatible vs incompatible combinations, which OS works for me etc. and try to figure out a sequence of steps that works anyway. And the parts to download are quite big.
    The main steps are
    1. Installation of repository DB (which one, which OS?)
    2. Installation of the latest OEM 12.1.0.3 using the repository DB
    3. Oracle DB 12.1.0.3 has to be plugged into OEM
Which software bundles to install OEM 12c incl. DB 12c should and can I download using my OTN Account?
Which OS works best with downloadable versions? Should I use Oracle Linux64 or a different OS or can I use Ubuntu 64 as well?
    Best regards

  • Convert custom management plug-in in OEM 11g to OEM 12c compatible plug-in

    Hi All,
We have a custom plug-in developed and deployed in OEM 11g. We are planning to move to OEM 12c(12.1.0.4) and installing OEM 12c(fresh install) in a new host instead of migrating existing 11g to 12c as part of upgrade process.
Now question is what are the options if I want to use existing 11g custom plug-in in OEM 12c ? As I understand 11g plug-ins are jar file but OEM 12c plug-ins are OPAR files.
Can we export plug-in from OEM 11g and import directly in OEM 12c or if there are any steps to conver 11g plugin to 12c plugin before importing it in 12c.
Please suggest the options available without re-developing the plug-ins for OEM 12c.
    Thanks

To overwrite and update your current custom plug-in update that is stored in a repository, use the overwrite option.
    $emcli create_custom_plugin_update
    -agent_name="agent_name"
    -plugin_id="plugin_id"
    [-overwrite]
This command creates and imports a custom plug-in update from an existing Management Agent where the selected plug-in is deployed. The custom plug-in update will be used for all subsequent plug-in deployments on any Management Agent, in place of Oracle supplied versions.
Custom plug-in update is created as per plug-in type. If a custom plug-in update is created, and after three days, a patch is applied, in order to include the patch, the custom plug-in update will have to be created again.
    $emcli list_custom_plugin_updates
Please refer the below doc for more info..

  • OEM 12c How to get a report of Databse Server utilization

In OEM 12C how we can run/get the report of Unix Database server utilization report.

    Hi,
Seems the screens changed a little - in grid control there was a nice hosts summary page where it would show you exactly what you wanted - clound control seems to have the same information but only for a short time period that can't be changed.
Have you tried host->monitoring->cpu details from the left hand drop down when you have the host selected - this allows you to go back a month (well it would if it worked - seems not to be working correctly on 12.1.0.1 - we are patching this week....).
If that doesn;t work you can write your own based on tables in the repository but thats a bot more of a pain to do.

  • OEM 12c Report Database Growth Trends

    DB Size
Shows DB size for all databases
    Total size and total free
    • Able to do this month by month in OEM 12c by whatever group we define via Information Publisher "canned reports"
However, I need some help because OEM 12c does not provide this requested information:
    • Other than manually going to each database one by one (we have hundreds) Do any of you have any ideas or scripts that would provide the following:
(Dumping the data out of OEM month by month via csv and trying to compare using excel is not working because we are adding and removing databases monthly and we have hundreds)
    - In one report show Jan, Feb, March, etc database size, used, free, %used by each database
    - Compare growth between months
    - Show Top 25 databases that have grown
    - Show Top 25 Trending growth

    Hi,
You can query the OMS Repository directly, I used to run a report quite a long time back, using the SQL below to do similar thing:
    SELECT target_name Database, key_value TB, round(max(maximum),0) maximum
    FROM mgmt$metric_daily
    WHERE target_type = 'rac_database'
    and metric_name = 'tbspAllocation' and metric_column = 'spaceUsed'
    and trunc(rollup_timestamp, 'MONTH') = '01-JUL-08'
    and target_name in ('<DB_NAME>')
    GROUP BY target_name, key_value, trunc(rollup_timestamp, 'MONTH')
    ORDER BY Database, TB;
This was query a 11g OMS, so the tables and columns may of changed.
    Hope this helps

  • OEM 12c SLB - Easy way to tell which OMS

    Hello,
We are using OEM 12c and followed the HA guidelines to setup an SLB. The SLB is working as desired for logins and agent uploads. However, it is trivial to tell which OMS you are logged into (in a multi OMS environment) when using the SLB. In 10g, we were able to solve this by manually editing a banner gif file to include the OMS server name so it was always trivial to tell - very useful for troubleshooting. In 12c, this does not seem to be possible as the UI is very flash oriented. Is there any file I can change / has any one found a trivial way to accomplish the same in 12c?
I'll try and post a picture of what our 10g banner looked like if it helps.
    thanks,
    danny

    Hi Danny,
An EM Administrator can see which OMS they are connected to by navigating to the Management Services and Repository homepage (Setup | Management Services and Repository).
The OMS they are connected to will be shown as the 'Management Service in Use'.
    Does this help?
    Thanks, Mark.

  • OEM 12c job output

In OEM 12c I can create a sql script job that run against multiple database instances. I just wonder if it is possible for the job to insert output to a table on a database. For example if I write a job that extracts the SGA size of a database and runs its against 5 databases, and I want to insert 5 rows into a db table, each row would have the database name and its corresponding SGA size. Is that possible? Thanks.

What is the end goal here? Do you just want to report on such data? If yes, then EM already collects this information and you can easily create a report against it.
The job output is also stored in EM repository, so you can query the job output from our repository views.

  • Email RMAN backup logs in OEM 12c

I am scheduling my RMAN daily backups via OEM 12c. My goal is that the email notification includes the full log, rather than just the status of results. I was able to do this in 11g fairly easily. I have created a ticket with Oracle, to which they have responded that this may not be possible with 12c. I find that hard to believe. I am probably missing something silly. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Here is the response to your question. If its useful, please mark it so.
    https://oracletechnologistblog.wordpress.com/2012/08/27/tip-of-the-week-resolving-12c-cloud-control-database-backup-notification-issues/
In 12c CC, after scheduling database backup job and configuring email notification, system doesn’t successfully email the status of the backup jobs. Email notification within 12c would work otherwise. Interestingly, the notification would not work just for database backup jobs.
    Steps to diagnose the issue:
1.Please ensure your database target ‘yourdb’ in issue has been listed in the ‘Job Events For Targets’ by navigating to EM 12c -> Setup -> Incidents -> Job Events
2.If the above doesn’t help, then please do:
2.1 Log on the repository db of EM 12c as SYSMAN user to query the following then upload the output.html file for checking
SQL>set markup html on spool on
    SQL>spool output.html
    SQL>select * from mgmt_targets where target_name=’PRD1′;
    SQL>select * from mgmt_notification_log;
    SQL>spool off
2.2 Set EM 12c OMS to DEBUG level
    cd <OMS_HOME>/bin
emctl set property -name log4j.rootCategory -value ‘DEBUG, emlogAppender, emtrcAppender’ -module logging
    2.3 Then reproduce this issue.
If you find below errors in <gc_inst>/em/EMGC_OMS1/sysman/log/emoms.trc, then perform the below mentioned Resolution to resolve the issue.
    2012-08-23 17:05:51,519 [DeliveryThread-EMAIL6] WARN notification.pbs logp.251 – Delivery.run: java.util.MissingResourceException: Can’t find bundle for base name oracle.sysman.db.rsc.rec.BackupJobMsg, locale en_US

    Resolution:

  • Can OEM 12c installed on VMs?

I checked oracle documentation regarding OEM 12c and seems did not specific if we can use VMs or not. But since so many components need to be installed and configured, I would like to see if anybody know this here.
    Thanks in advance.

Related question -- how much RAM and hard drive space has everybody allocated to their VM's?
Because my Oracle Enterprise Manager (OEM) and Oracle/Sun  Ops Center on same box? was considered a small one, I've put the database repository and OMS all in the same server.
Because it has to fit both an OMS and Oracle Database SGA, I found that I could barely fit it inside about 6.5GB of RAM allocated to my VM. This is a lab environment on a host linux box with 8GB RAM.

  • NetApp plugin for OEM 12c - DB is not on NFS mounted storage. DB Storage Perf Report empty

Hi, I have installed NetApp Plugin for OEM 12c (12.1.0.3.1) for a Netapp vFiler used for SMO. "Database Storage Utilization" and "Consolidation Database Storage Performance" empty. "Database is not on NFS mounted storage. Hence, no views available." - a. We are using ASM lun created on NFS. Does this means it will not appear in the plugin report ? - b. If point a. is true, is there a way to make the data appear ? I had already verified the BELOW. Only for point 4, I observed MGMT$DB_DATAFILES."OS_STORAGE_ENTITY" is NA (even though the ASM disk is actually on a NFS mount) : 1. Database discovery is done in EM12c . 2. Go to the database “HOST” target in EM 12c and click on the host target on which database resides. From host target drop down, click on “Host-> StorageDetails”. It will launch the “Storage Details” page. Please refer attached screenshot. There is a table displayed on bottom of screen and click on “File Systems” tab and check that your discovered database storage mount point is shown there. (Please note that whenever you define new mount point on host, this list should reflect the change.), otherwise, Database Performance views will not work. This mount point discovery is updated periodically. (It might be possible that DB views are not working because this discovery might not have finished) 3. Please click on NetApp Storage Target type and go to “Target HomePage drop down ->All Metrics”. Please click on “Volume List” metric and confirm if the volume is listed there on which database resides. 4. If all above steps holds good, please execute the below query on EM 12c repository and send the result: SELECT V2.TARGET_NAME, V1.FILESYSTEM, SUBSTR(V1.FILESYSTEM,INSTR(V1.FILESYSTEM,':')+6, (CASE WHEN (INSTR(V1.FILESYSTEM,'/',1,3) > 0) THEN INSTR(V1.FILESYSTEM,'/',1,3) - INSTR(V1.FILESYSTEM,'/',1,2) - 1 ELSE 100 END)) "VOLUMENAME" FROM MGMT$STORAGE_REPORT_NFS V1, MGMT$DB_DATAFILES V2 WHERE V1.MOUNTPOINT = V2.OS_STORAGE_ENTITY and V2.TARGET_NAME=''

Hi Aik, Change in SQLs will not work. There is lot of code for data discovery. We need to have discovery mechanism integrated in our plug-in for ASM LUNS.ASM LUN based database discovery has been planned to support in future release of plug-ins. Can you please share following details about OEM plug-in usage:1. Company Name2. ONTAP OS (cDOT / 7-mode which version)3. Nature of Databases (Only ASM or NFS based)4. Are your currently using this plug-in for NFS databases? If yes, how it helps to simplify your database administration. We will share your feedback to Product Management for support of ASM. Regards,Sachin Maheshwari

  • Targets down one OEM 12c console

I have successfully installed OEM 12c on RHEL6, it is a  3-node using F5 Big IP SLB. OMS is up and running on all three nodes, however the OEM console shows three targets to be down on the first node as seen below.
    1. node1:4889_Management_service
    2. node1:4889_Management_service_CONSOLE
    3. node1:4889_Management_service_PBS
The same three targets are reported up on node2 and node3.
I ran ./emctl status oms -details on all three nodes and the results are the same.
It looks like a false alarm to me. Any ideas?

    Hi Bill Wagman,
You can remove the agents and its monitored targets as below:
    a. On the agent machine, stop the agent if running.
    b. On the OMS machine, run the following:
    1. Ensure emcli is configured:
    <12c_OMS_HOME>/bin>./emcli setup
    2. Login to emcli:
    <12c_OMS_HOME>/bin>./emcli login -username=SYSMAN
    3. Remove the problematic agents from console:
    <12c_OMS_HOME>/bin>./emcli delete_target -name="<agent machine name:port>" -type="oracle_emd" -delete_monitored_targets -async
To delete a specific target, you can use the following command:
    <12c_OMS_HOME>/bin>./emcli delete_target -name="<target_name>" -type="<target_type>"
Once the agent is removed from console, you can use the following note to deinstall agent software from agent machine:
Note 1368088.1 - How to De-install the Enterprise Manager Cloud Control 12c Agent
Note: The steps in the note 454081.1 is not applicable for 12c agents. It is not recommended to update repository objects manually.

  • How to tell if you have OEM 12c BP1 installed?

I had OEM 12c installed and attempted to download/apply the Solaris OEM agent software. I ran into the "Below host metric patches are not applied to OMS." error. I discovered this was because I needed BP1.
After 3 days of trying to uninstall OEM, finally got it uninstalled, downloaded OEM 12c w/BP1 and installed it.
Once again, I tried to download/apply the Solaris OEM agent software...and I got the same error message. Very frustrating.
I don't see anything in the "About" pop-up or "emctl status oms" output that actually says a BP has been installed though. Could I have just reinstalled the non-BP version? I got the installations zips directory from the Oracle website that says "Enterprise Manager Cloud Control 12c Release 1 (12.1.0.1) for Linux x86-64
(With Bundle Patch 1)" so I don't think that's the issue. Is there something else I need to do to get BP 1 working??

    Few things:
    a) If you have linux oms with bp1 and want to deploy solaris agents ( with bp1) then you need to follow the steps from this doc:
    http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E24628_01/doc.121/e35229/aix_solaris.htm#CIHJJGDG
You will be required to apply patches on OMS and plugin homes on OMS.
    b) If you want to find wether the OMS installed has bp1 or not follow the note: How to Determine if EM Cloud Control 12c with bp1 has Been Installed (Doc ID 1424439.1)

    Hello,
I haven’t run into the same errors you have reported but, let me share with you our recommended way of installing E-Business Suite Plug-in. Start by referencing our “Getting Start” MOS note 1434392.1it contains all the required patches, certification details, and related documentation. Once you are ready to perform the install start out by reviewing Chapter 2 - Installing the Oracle Application Management Pack for Oracle E-Business Suite of our Oracle Application Management Pack for Oracle E-Business Suite Guide Release 12.1.0.1.0. Here is a direct link -http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E24628_01/doc.121/e28715.pdf

  • Facing error while creating report in OEM 12c Cloud Control

    Hi All,
I want to create a report in OEM 12c Cloud Control in Information Publisher. I have select element as "Table from SQL" and want to select data from "gc$metric_values_latest" view. But when I am writing a sql statement like..
    select * from gc$metric_values_latest

What can be the issue for this. Please suggest..
    Thanks in Advacnce!!!

Is this mean that we can not fetch data from gc$metric_values_latest view or we need to do some configuration in order to fetch information from this view. Because I am able to fetch from views like mgmt$metric_current or mgmt$metric_history
So what can be the probable cause of not getting access to gc$metric_values view
