Hovering cursor opens application?

My Music Director at church has a new Macbook Pro running Snow Leopard and wants to know why applications open when he leaves the cursor setting over the icon in the dock but does not click on it? Is there a setting to turn this feature off.

Are you sure that you haven't activated the trackpad for tapping?

  • Cursor open error SQLSTT - 72000, SQL code - 969

We have purchased a product called Access Manager for DB2 and installed it on our AS400. This gives us the connectivitiy to Oracle server with which we do the Warehouse management software interface using our legacy system on AS400.
I have written several programs in SQLRPGLE and not quite sure as to how I can handle errors coming out of Oracle server.
As per my knowledge in my programs, I do
    declare cursor
    open cursor
    fetch
    dow look for sqlstate
    fetch next row
    enddo
    close cursor
I am also new to this much of SQL.
Now, my programs are running in production and works just fine if we don;t have any issues with oracle server (database server down etc.).
My question is if the database server goes down for any reason, my SQLRPGLE progam starts giving me cursor not open errors, the actual error is as follows:
Connection to relational database HJAWCD1 already exists.
ARDUPAR: ARDUPAR: rc=-1(OCI_ERROR) from OCIStmtExecute when asking for
    Describe-Info
ARDUPAR(1): ORA-03114: not connected to ORACLE
ARDAROC: rc = -1 from parse
SQLSTATE class unknown - SQLSTATE 72000, SQLCODE -969.
    Cursor SEHOST not open.
    Cursor SEHOST not open.
    Cursor SEHOST not open.
So although, the connection exist between the AS400 and Oracle server as suggested from first statement, but then the cursor is giving me problems of not opening.
what I would like to know is how do I check in my SQL statement the error and somehow reconnect and open the cursor again.
Please help in this regard, since I am not finding any help from iseries world becuase no one seems to have knowledge about this product that we have installed and I don;t have too mcuh of documentation on the product nor do I have any sample handling messages program using RPGLE between oracle and AS400 using the product.
    Regards
    Farhan Qadri

It's been over a decade since I worked on an AS/400 (iSeries), but I've seen an ORA-03114 is thrown from the OCI when you've attempted an illegal statement. That error typically means you are no longer connected to the database. I'd guess that your new application has a defective RPG error management routine.
    Good luck, Michael

  • Max no of cursors opened

    Hi all,
For our project we are using Oracle8i as back-end. I am using JDBC api to manipulate the data in the oracle database.
I am getting an error saying that "Max no of cursors opened exceeds limit". This error am freq getting. It causes the table locking.
Is this happening becuase of ResultSet is not closing?
Will ResultSet automatically closed if I close the statment object in finally block of my code or do I need to close the ResultSet explicitly.
Is there any solution for this. This am getting if no of clients are concurantly update the same table.
    Any suggestions and solutions appreciated.
    thanks in advance
    ANILA

It's been asked here before, but I'm embarrassed to confess that I still don't know the answer:
What if you're using a connection pool? My understanding of pools is that they create a pool of live, open connections that an application can draw from. The cost of opening connections is paid once and amortized over all the requests made.
That makes me think that I should leave connections open.
When I do database access with Tomcat, I set up a JNDI connection pool. I have my apps close every ResultSet and Statement, but I don't close the connections. I leave them open to be put back in the pool for the next request to use.
    Is this correct? - MOD

  • Too many Cursors open error

I have been getting this error in my Jdeveloper App.
ORA-01000 : maximum open cursors exceeded.
We have open cursors set at 220. I am using straight JDBC thin
to call the database (8.1.5) and have been closing ResultSets
the best I can. It happens after I use the app for a little bit.
Any suggestions on what is causing this.
    PS
This is a test database and I am the only one on it.

  • Close all the open Application in one-shot ?

Is there are any way to close all the open application in one shot in ipad rather than double-click the home button and close the apps one by one.

In principle, I agree with you...
But it appears that reality is not perfect. I observed on iPhone 3 that memory could be pretty clogged from time to time and I needed to restart it to free up memory and get it back to original speed again. It all depends on which apps you are running. Some appears to eat more memory than others. On iPhone 4, it appears to be less of a problem and I have seen that later iOS releases also makes this less of a problem. I only have a first generation iPad, but I have seen that later iOS releases have improved memory handling significantly there as well. However, it appears to be a good idea to reboot the device after a week or two just to flush the memory. I can't prove this theory scientifically, but I do see a difference in memory usage when doing this.
The reason I actually tried "Process Killer" was a tip that it addressed the problems many of us encountered with the first iOS 5 release: frequent crashes and slow performance. After the pretty quickly released iOS 5 update, that wes pretty much solved, but occasionally killing processes actually helped me at that point, It made both my devices more stable.
The original question was about battery performance, there I don't think that the amount of processes running is the key. A much better way of getting more out of your battery is shutting off location services in apps where they are not really needed. I would guess that turning off push notofications for as many apps as possible helps as well.
Also, turn off the Personal Hotspot on iPhone when it's not needed!

  • IWork Apps Closing When Switching Between Open Applications

I am having an issue with iWork applications shutting down when I am switching between open applications. For example, if I have Pages running, but no document open, and I use the command/tab command to switch to another program, then try to go back to Pages, I find that it has closed and must be reopened. The same thing happens with Keynote. If however, the program is open and a document or presentation is open, I can switch without the program closing. Is anyone else experiencing this? I can't find any other references to it. I am running a Macbook Pro with the latest version of Yosemite and the newest versions of Pages and Keynote.
    Thanks.

Yokay, so no one else is experiencing this issue. Pretend you were, do any possible solutions come to mind?

    Hi ...
Checked to see how much free space there is on the startup disk lately?
Right or control click the MacintoshHD icon. Click Get Info. In the Get Info window you will see Capacity and Available. Make sure there's a minimum of 15% free disk space.
Freeing Up Hard Disk Space - Mac GuidesFreeing Up Hard Disk Space - Mac Guides
If disk space is not the issue, booting in Safe Mode deletes system caches that may help.
A Safe Mode boot takes longer then a normal boot so be patient.
Once you see the Desktop, click the Apple menu icon top left corner of the screen.
From the drop down menu click Restart.
See if that makes a difference ...

    A few hours later…
    I just found Mouse Wizard:
    http://www.samuco.net/web/node/23
I will say that when I downloaded the demo the center button didn't work, but a very quick & courteous reply from their tech support suggested:
In terminal, can you try entering this command: "rm ~/Library/Preferences/.MagicalWizard.plist". Then, relaunch MouseWizard.
I did this & now I have center button nirvana! (Mouse Wizard also supports a version of the squeeze button (they call it fourth button) and squeeze/bloat gestures.)
So far so good--it's made me much happier with my magic mouse.

  • How do you "pause" an open application, like Mac automatically does when the memory is full?

How do you "pause" an open application, like Mac automatically does when the memory is full?
I would like to do so proactively when I am not using a certain program but need to keep it open, and I want to free up computer resources.
In other words, I want to keep a given program open, but stop it from "thinking".

There is an application that I can only open a set number of times before it expires.  Every time the program closes, you get one less use out of it.  I want to use it as long as possible, so I thought I would just keep it open all the time.  However, it consistently turns on the fan on the computer, so I imagine it uses a lot of resources.  I got the idea after the Force Quit program "paused" it once after getting overloaded with all the apps I had open.  It stopped the fan, and I was able to open it and run it again later with no problems.  The tricky thing with trying to intentionally overload the system is that it's a hit or miss on which open program the OS will pause (to my knowledge).

  • Open applications not appearing in dock or command-tab.

I am using 10.9.5 on a Macbook Air and I've noticed recently that open applications don't display icons in the dock.  Command-Tab also doesn't show the icons of all open applications either.  This seems to be recently occurring.  It's quite frustrating switching between applications when command-tab doesn't show the open application icons nor are the icons of open apps displayed in the dock.  Any ideas are appreciated.
    Thank You

Open the Terminal in the Utilities folder. At the prompt paste the following:
         killall Dock
Press RETURN. See if that helps.

  • LV 8.2.1 Error 66 or 1379 occured at open Application Reference. A LV 8.2.1

    Hi,
LV 8.2.1 Error 66 or 1379 occured at open Application Reference. A LV 8.2.1
    Using:
Application access an other LV application on an remote PC with Vi-Server Technology. (Based on MS OS Windows XP SP2 with all patches ...)
With LabVIEW 8.2.1 it is not possible (exactly: with one PC it works, with other PCs, (identical regarding configuration of LabVIEW-Components), the described errors occured ...
There is no problem with LV 7.1.1. ( If the VI-Server Configuration of the .exe will be done within the .ini -File...)
The differences between LV 7.1.1 are in the .ini-File of the application regarding the the access-List property.
Error 66 occures if ther is no entry in the access-List property.-> OK.
Error 1379 occures if i will use the copy of the LV .ini-File acl-property with allowed access from all clients (*) or special clients defined with IP-Adress ... -> BUG
The same behaviour is described in 2 threads in the discussion forum ..., but in my application/configuration the workaround acl.configuration: "allow access from all clients" will work only with one PC ?
So what is the solution ?
At this moment i gol back to LV 7.1.1, but this is surely not the solution ....
    Thanks for help ....

    Hi!
I have also found following discusion in the forum.
But the the problem for Error 1379 lies in LabVIEW 8.2.1 and VI Server.
This is a know Bug. This Bug should be fixed in a future version.
The problem is that the IP address in the could not be resolved into a machine name.
    Workaround:
This program works in 7.1 so the only option right now is to use 7.1 instead of 8.2.1.

  • Yosemite finder spinning beachball when opening or saving files from within any open application ... fix please!

At my wits end with this issue, it seemed to have started with the 10.10.1 upgrade and continues with 10.10.2. Only when you are in an open application (it’s fine if I am looking at files on the desktop) and go to open or save a file the pop up window opens and then seems to open again and as I try to navigate through the files it pauses and I get a spinning beach ball for 15 seconds to a minute each time. Then the ball is gone for a few seconds and comes back again … eventually I can get to a file but it can take several minutes to get to one file through this process. The delays seem to get worse the more I try it. I have been dealing with a senior CPU adviser from Apple for the last four weeks on this issue and the conclusion after all of our testing and a half dozen data logs is that the engineers are continuing to collect information on the problem from others and will hopefully identify and fix it some time but can’t offer any further advise. As of now I am forced to run 10.8.5 (without any finder issues) on a second partition in order to do any meaningful work. I have a mid 2010 27” iMac with 16Gb ram and a 3TB fusion HD. Here’s what I have done so far to try and fix this:
    - went through all of the cleaning and maintenance items using the OnyX utility program including;
fixing permissions, running all maintenance scripts, rebuilding system databases and deleting the system, user, internet and fonts cache.
    - running Disk Utility repair and permissions.
    - used Disk Warrior to rebuild and optimize the disk
    - tried turning off Spotlight and iCloud.
    - started up in safe mode
    - zapped the PRAM and reset the SMC
    - used terminal to delete Finder settings and disable auto-mount of network shares
    - reinstalled a combo update of 10.2.2
    - tried different user accounts
    - did a fresh install of 10.2.2. on a second partition (the problem was still duplicated here)
I have to say I am disappointed of late with what seems  to be a lot of bugs coming out from the latest Apple software releases. Am I going to have to live with this setup and just wait for Apple to hopefully identify this as a bug and offer a fix sometime in the future?  … can anyone offer any further advise?

This could be a plist corruption problem, but I'm not sure.
Sometimes, the preference list files get corrupted. You can usually just remove them and they'll get re-created. This may require you to reset certain settings. A notable exception to this is the Mail plist which actually stores the Library structure of your email accounts. Deleting the Mail plist will definitely cause lots of problems, but is recoverable.
The plist files are stored in the /Users/username/Library/Preferences/ folder. They usually have the naming convention of com.company.programname.plist.
A simple troubleshooting technique is to move a suspect plist file out of the Preferences folder and start up the app, again. It will re-create the plist from scratch.
In your case, I would try the com.apple.dock.plist. You can use Activity Monitor to kill the Dock app and it will restart. Or, you can log out and log back in.
There is a new file with Leopard called com.apple.dock.db. I haven't figured out what it does, but you might try moving it out. If anything gets worse, you can move the old file back in replacing the newly created one.
This all sound somewhat odd, so I don't know if this will help.
