How 2 search within the API documentation?

i have downloaded it. but there seems to be no option to search within the vast api. any idea how to?

you have downlaoded it meaning you have everythiing..swing..awt etc etc etc ect on ur comp..?
Very simple...
Just go to start>search
put in the classname you want to search in the place where you have put the javadocs
press enter
you will get list of files(considerably smaller)
sift through them.
if you want to search WITHIN a document, then go to EDIT>find..
Enjoy!!
u really need'nt download them
just type 'javadocs' on the google and the first result..click on that..!
ahem...my duke dollars...sooo..??

  • How to Search within document items

    Hi
    How are you all??!!
    I was wondering if there is anyway at all to customize the Portal search so that it searches within the document (ie a MSWord doco) for the keywords, not just the Item title.
    thanks in advance

    Hi Liz
    I'm good thanks.
    Document content searching is available by enabling the Oracle Text searching features in Portal. Please refer to the Portal Configuration Guide for your version of the product.
    The Oracle Application Server 9i Release 2 documentation can be found at
    http://otn.oracle.com/documentation/ias.html

  • Search inside the API

    How can I search inside the API about a specific class or method?
    For example I know that there a class called Scanner in the package of the java.util , but I can't find it
    Also if I want to search about any method, can't I search about the method or the class inside the API by typing its name then find it.
    I have already downloaded the JDK6 Doc,and use it
    Is there any way for helping me?I face this problem many times.and I need help.

    To search for a class, I go to:
    http://java.sun.com/javase/6/docs/api/index.html
    Press "all classes" in the top left frame then search the lower frame for the class name (Ctrl-F and type name in Firefox).
    For a method, notice the "Index" link in the right frame -- it takes
    you to an A--Z list of all methods.

  • How Do I Use the API to Abbreviate?

    How do I use the ACE API to limit the output field length and properly abbreviate the output field?
    Using the pwace command-line application, I get abbreviated output that looks like this for a 30 byte field:
    nnnnn GEORGE WASHNGTN MMRL HWY
    However, when using the API, I end up with a truncated field:
    nnnnn GEORGE WASHINGTON MEMORI
    This is from the PRIM_ADDR field.
    How do I use the API to get the same field value as the command-line application?
    Thanks,
    Rob

    Rob,
    The jobfile product has intelligent truncation built into the product.  However, with the API this would be up for the user to code around.
    Thanks,
    Brandon

    How do I search iCloud appointments in the past on the PC or iPad or iPhone?
    I can't find how to search on the PC
    The iPad/iPhone iClould calendar search does not go into the past appointments

    So, you're not really asking how to search contacts notes on the device. You just came to tell us you switched to to the S4.
    Good luck!

  • Tip of the Day : Search within the log window

    hi
    Recently my JDeveloper 11g (11.1.1.0.1) showed me a Tip of the Day about "Search within the log window", as shown in tip-of-the-day-search-log-window.png.
    It read : "You can search within any of the contents of log windows. Click within the text of the window and click Ctrl+F. A search window appears so that you can enter your search criteria."
    The tip also shows an image of a "Messages - Log" panel with a transparent "Search Messages Log" dialog on top.
    If I try this on the "Messages - Log" panel, I get the transparent dialog. But if I try this on the "Running: DefaultServer - Log", I don't get the transparent dialog (although search seams to be possible if I just start typing after pressing Ctrl+F).
    Not very consistent, or what exactly is the intended behaviour here?
    many thanks
    Jan Vervecken

    fyi
    This seems to have improved in JDeveloper 11.1.1.2.0 (see also log-search2-select.png in the context of forum thread "11.1.1.2.0 : log search : no match found").

  • Is possible search within the disscusions threads ?

    Hi.
    I need to configurate the Search Iview, in order to search within the discussion forums.  That is to say, to be able to look for within discussion threads, as makes the SDN with the thrid party software that uses, I know, but doing that same one with iview standard of discussion forums?
    Actually, with my standard configuration, only look for the title of the discussions.
    I have EP 60, SP2.
    anybody would help me?
    thanks a lot.
    Leandro

    Hi Leandro,
    you can create an index and do some configuration changes as described in SAPNote 564677 in order to can search discussion groups. This should not only search the discussion titles but also the text within discussion threads. Btw: What Patch release do you use?
    Just another thing: please get in common with the Contributor Recognition Program. I could see that you have opened more than one thread where you mentioned that your problem was solved but you did not reward any points!
    Check this link for more information: https://www.sdn.sap.com/sdn/index.sdn?page=crp_help.htm

  • Reading the api documentation

    when extending a class you need to override and provide a few functions for things, how do you read the api to determine which functions you need override and which you don't have to unless you want to?
    thanks

    You have three cases to consider, none-abstract, empty methods, such as java.awt.Canvas
    A quote from the second paragrath of the Canvas API documents
    An application must subclass the Canvas class in order to get useful functionality such as creating a custom component. The paint method must be overridden in order to perform custom graphics on the canvas.
    Abstract classes, such as java.util.AbstractList. Now if we take a quick look at the method summary:
    boolean   equals(Object o)
              Compares the specified object with this list for equality.
    abstract[b] Object      get(int index)
    Returns the element at the specified position in this list
    Finally we have interfaces, every thing in an interface needs to be implemented.

  • How to get an offline version of the API documentation?

    Well, thats the question. I want to have the API documetatio like in this link: http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.4/docs/api/overview-summary.html , but I want it all and offline. Is there a Help file I can download somewhere where the API is documented?
    thanx

    If you have Java installed you have the documentation on your harddrive.
    %JDKDIR%\src.zip
    in some versions src.jar
    You can open that file with "zip"-applications such as WinZip and in there you got every class your installed version has...and ever source file is filled with comments for every method.
    In this file you can alsow easeily look upp what methods a class has.

  • How to combine a content search with an attribute search with the API

    Hi
    I have been working with searches in Content Services using the API and I have successfully set up the search over the contents of a document and inside of the Category attributes of the document.
    My problem comes when I try to combine this 2 kinds of search, that is when I want to find all the documents that cointain the text "test" and at the same time contain other text into their category attributes.
    What I do is to build 2 SearchExpression's one for the content search and the other for the attributes search and then joining them in a third SearchExpression object using the FdkConstants.OPERATOR_AND. When I search using only the first or the second SearchExpression everything works fine. But when I do the search using the third SearchExpression an ORACLE.FDK.ParameterError:ORACLE.FDK.InvalidSearchExpression
    exception id raised.
    The code I'm using is like this:
    private SearchExpression getMainSE(String contentQuery, CategoryInfo catInfo)
         SearchExpression contentSE = null;
         SearchExpression catSE = null;
         SearchExpression mainSE = null;
         if(contentQuery != null)
              contentSE = this.setupSE4Contents(contentQuery);
         if(catInfo != null)
              catSE = this.setupSE4Category(catInfo);
         if(contentSE != null && catSE != null)
              mainSE = new SearchExpression();
              mainSE.setLeftOperand(FdkConstants.OPERATOR_AND);
              mainSE.setLeftOperand(catSE);
              mainSE.setRightOperand(contentSE);
         else
              mainSE = contentSE != null ? contentSE : catSE;
         return mainSE;
    CategoryInfo is one class made by my own that contains the categoryId of the document and a List of the attributes where I want to search. mainSE is the SearchExpression that is returned.The portion of code that appears to be having problems is this:
    if(contentSE != null && catSE != null)
         mainSE = new SearchExpression();
         mainSE.setLeftOperand(FdkConstants.OPERATOR_AND);
         mainSE.setLeftOperand(catSE);
         mainSE.setRightOperand(contentSE);
    And finally I only execute the search using the mainSE returned by the function:
    // Define search options
    NamedValue[] nv = WsUtility.newNamedValueArray(new Object[][] {
         { Options.FOLDER_RESTRICTION,
              folder != null ? new Long(folder.getId()) : null },
         { Options.SEARCH_VERSION_HISTORY, Boolean.TRUE } });
         SearchExpression mainSE = this.getMainSE(contentQuery, catInfo);
         try
              // Search documents
              NamedValue[] result = sem.search(mainSE, nv, null);
              // etc....
    Is this the correct way to combine a content search with an attribute search???
    I know that this is possible since I have seen that it can be done in the Collaboration Suite UI.
    I hope yoy can help me...
    Thanks in advance

    Not sure if this is a typo (while pasting code on the forum) or is the cause of the problem you describe.
    Shouldn't mainSE.setLeftOperand(FdkConstants.AND) be replaced by mainSE.setOperator(FdkConstants.AND) ?
