K awsome wiki best done yet ,, no need for a how to section lol. Anyways might be interesting to have a good reads section on the forum relating to Arch and linux. The wiki is kewl but not all the good reads are on the arch site. This may help a lot of new users find reads to help them out.
Section on the forum to post links to good reading material like help files or websites with articles pertaining to helping with Arch and linux. Say a good site on a wifi card or how to manually set up networking for a laptop in linux etc. Same idea as a how to's section but rather based on where to find the reading materials you need.

2) Also go to TCode OMSY, Tick the box "ABp" (Allow Back Posting) for your Company Code, so that you can control postings in the closed period.
3) And finally, go to material master and select Plant data/ Storage2 view, tick the box "Neg. stocks in Plant".

How do I put timecode on the storyline. In FCP 7 there was a time code reader that read the actual TC on the source material. There isn't one in FCP 10.1...Any recommendations???
TC has not been lost...skimmer shows source TC.

Ok so Compressor will show source TC on an individual clip, good I didn't know this and it will be helpful.
My scenario. I build a timeline with a whole days shooting involving many different clips and build a Sequence from that-editing out the off camera questions/mistakes etc. In the past I would export with source TC with a Timecode Reader filter applied. Now, it is a TC Generator filter that is available that starts from 00:00.
1. Possible solution, forget the source TC since I have a timeline built with (counter) TC on it and send that to client or get Apple to add it in the future.
2. Apply TC Generator on a clip by clip basis and manually change the TC to match source material. Probably too, much effort though.

You are right.
Before HiDpi displays became available three years ago, you could find advice about what was the good resolution for displays, depending on their size in in/cm and viewing distance.
- For relatively big displays (22" to 30") a pixel resolution of 1920 x 1200 or 1920 x 1080 was considered optimal.
- For big laptops or small desktop, 1680 x 1050 or 1640 x 900 were good.
In Windows, you could set the size of fonts to full resolution or 25% or 50% bigger... if the software supports this feature, which was not the case with Photoshop, Elements... The size of the fonts was deternined and fixed in the software itself, with no way to scale the fonts. The solution needed Microsoft to provide developpers with new programming interfaces and the solution for developpers was to rewrite a substantial part of the code.
Anyway, to enable good viewing of characters on common 12 or 13" HiDpi displays, you need to use the fonts at 200%.
And that makes sense. To see the same characters on a 12" display the same as on a 24", they must be twice the size... good rule of thumbs. -

The PDF Export expired according to my subscription list, but, I think that I had cancelled my Acrobat XI Pro of $ 29.99 monthly, so, I am wanting to presubscribe for it again, but, when I try to put my Code in for my Debit Card, it will not register with your company.
So, I do not know what to do to get it back again with my monthly and annually subscription payments for PDF Export and for Acrobat XI Pro. I have already downloaded the Adobe Reader XI onto my computer so I am set for that product. I just do not know what to do about the PDF Export and the Acrobat XI Pro to be able to get them started once again.

I am getting messages that I can't download and read .pdf files since I have the wrong Adobe reader. I know about their security disasters of course, but I downloaded the latest version of Adobe Reader from the Adobe web site and I have other ,pdf file readers as well, and for some reason they won't work either. I have 5 computers running top end processors and RAM. By this I mean I have one, this one which I am using that has an AMD Phenom Black 3.2 Quad-core with 8 GBs of Corsair top DDR2 RAM, my other two AMD have either an Athlon II triple core with 4 GBs of DDR2 Corsair RAM, one with the Phenom X4 965 3.4 GHz Quad-core with 8 GBs of their best DDR2 RAM, and two Intels with the i7 920 Processors using the triple channel 1366 socket processors and one with 8 GBs of low latency DDR3 RAM and the other with 4 GBs of the same RAM. I am getting the message on this one, which has a fresh install of XP Pro X64 operating system, as do the other 4 as well. I have run Avast Business Pro Anti-virus on this one, which I am getting the message on with a single result which I deleted, and also both Spybot Search and Destroy, which came back clean as well as Malwarebytes Antimalware, which got a lot of tracing cookies now removed, and SuperAntiSpware which also found a few cookies also now deleted. Can you tell me what I need to do to get these files to show as .pdf files rather than as a clean blank page. One other issue is that I wish to know how to turn off my downloads so they are saved and Mozilla will give me the option of returning them instead of me losing them all together as it does now. Thanks for your assistance. If there is another Adobe reader I should download and install, could you provide me with the link to it? I appreciate your assistance here

How to avoid db file parallel read for nestloop?
After upgraded to 11gr2, one job took more than twice as long as before on 10g and 11gr1 with compatibility being 10.2.0.
Same hardware. (See AWR summary below). My analysis points to that Nestloop is doing index range scan for the inner table's index segment,
and then use db file parallel read to read data from the table segment, and for reasons that I don't know, the parallel read is very slow.
AVG wait is more than 300ms. How can I fluence optimier to choose db file sequential read to fetch data block from inner table by tweaking

How do is get back to Read & Write permissions on HDs ?
Hi gang,
I was trying to set up one central folder for 4 iTune users (accounts) in our household.
One of the blogs said put in "Shared" folder and set permissions to "Read & Write". I tried but on "Everybody" is does not offer the "R&W" option, just "Read". They also said to be sure you clicked "Apply to Enclosed Items" in the drop down. Although I could not set "Everyone" to "R&W", I clicked on "Apply to Enclosed Items" and the hard drives clicked for at least 15 minutes.
Afterward I got a pop up that said... System Extension "/System/Library/Extension/ACard6280ATA.kext" was installed improperly and can be used. Try reinstalling. and an OK button to click. I clicked OK and at least 100 more popup appeared, one after the other as I clicked OK. They all had the same basic message except the info after /System/Library/Extension/, it kept changing slightly on each new popup.
The big problem is I now have three of my four internal hard drives locked to my access and all they say custom on the permissions Privilege window. Only my main HD is working, thank God.
How do I get back to Read & Write on Privileges, and on all Hard Drives?

GaryThanks for all the reply's, I really appreciate your time. I have Apple Care so I worked with Apple tech last night and today, but they had to pass problem on to their engineers. They did a great job trying to help and spent 2 hours helping me input in code through the Terminal screen. It helped a little, but we still can access drive 2, 3 and 4 due to the global permissions that were changed. All in all, it looks like we have to reinstall the OS on a washed HD.
I found out that the Repair program (Disk Utilities) only repairs permissions that were created after the initial set up. It won't correct original setting and that's what happened when I clicked on "Apply to Enclosed Items" at the root level. Likewise Time machine does not clone the main operating system so a restore would probably not get all the pieces back in their proper places.
I was thinking of doing a reinstall of the whole Mac HD drive (boot drive) with an exact copy I made with Carbon Cloner a month back, but the techs seem to think they will have to work on of the 4 individual HD I have.
Thanks again for the quick responses, I will let you know what happens in a few days.

How to make a schema really READ ONLY
Our legacy database is on 11.2.0.1/Redhat. Last week, one developer by accident changed the legacy schema by executing drop/creat/alter table commands. This causes big problem. Now we want to make the legacy schema absolutely read only. Thus nobody can change the schemas object and data.
There were posts talked about make the tablespace toe read only. That stopped inserting/deleting but one can still change the schema objecs with create, drop and alter, e.g.11:31:41 SQL> create table DUMMY(dummy int);

I was attempting to organize my files in Reader (on iPad) and I tried renaming an existing file to begin with "." in an attempt to put it at the top of my list, so that I could easily find it. It completely diappeared and if I search for it, it doesn't appear. Help!!!
Hi,
A file or folder name starting with '.' ("dot" or "period") is considered hidden on most operating systems. By naming a file starting with '.', you accidentally hid the file and made it inaccessible to all iOS apps.
I'd highly recommend using '_' ("underscore") in the future.
We have already made the change to the new Acrobat DC for iOS app (version 15.0.x) so that it disallows the rename operation with '.' as the first character. (I assume that you are using Adobe Reader for iOS on iOS 7 or older iOS version.)
To recover your hidden file, you need to use a Windows or Mac desktop/laptop computer, install a File Manager app (e.g. iExplorer free demo version, iFunBox), connect your iPad, browse the file system on your iPad, and rename the file back to something else (so that it becomes "visible" again).
The exact steps vary depending on the File Manager app you choose. You may be able to find How-To videos on the software manufacturer's web site or YouTube.
Don't worry. Your hidden file is not permanently lost. You just need to recover it. Good luck!
