Hi Debabrata,
In App Controller the console access is provided by an ActiveX control and this requires the client (web browser) to connect directly to the Hyper-V server. As you note, for this to work over the internet would require the Hyper-V host to be accessible from
the internet, and this is not a recommended security practice.
Publishing App Controller as a Remote App avoids needing to make the Hyper-V host accessible to the internet. I'm not an expert in setting up Remote App and don't have an answer about how to avoid doing 2 lots of authentication. The
Remote Desktop Services forum is likely to be a better place to ask a question on setting up Remote Apps.
Let me know what you need help with for the Remote Console in Windows Azure Pack option. There is also a forum for
Azure Pack and two of our MVPs who do have console connect working have both written articles that describe their experience.

  • How to transfer more than one files over internet at once?

    hi, friends,
I just wonder how to transfer more than one files from one computer to another over internet at once. Not using ftp. pls any one give me the solution.

This isn't hard to do, but it depends on your exact need. I did something very similar to let me upload all my mp3 file from home to work using sockets (don't have the code anymore..).
What I did was implement a "pull" approach rather than a "push" approach. In other words, everytime my server got a request from a client, it served up the next file. It didn't know or care that the client was always the same.
If you can set up a server to serve one file when a client attaches, then basically just put that code in a loop.
If this doesn't meet you need, it might still be helpful as a starting point...

  • How about Hot Keys for the Wireless Keyboard?

    Hello all.
Been using the iPad 2 for about 2 weeks since I got it.  Had to "ditch" the iPad Keyboard Dock and use a regular Apple Wireless Keyboard.  The good thing is now using the TwelveSouth iPad Stand, I can orientate the iPad to any of the two positions I want.
But I miss the special hot keys on Keyboard Dock, namely the Home and Lock keys.  Kind of inconvenient pushing the Home button on the iPad 2, especially having to double-press for multitasking.
If only the iPad's iOS allows some sort of configuration for hot keys on the wireless keyboard.  I do notice that the F5 and F6 are empty.
    Cheers

I would only hope that the keyboard would turn off, not just when it isn't pairing with the computer, but for the keyboard that is paired (mine is) it would be best if it turned off after a period of no use. Here is what one man, not an Apple tech, said about the A1314 keyboard he was selling on ebay:
"The keyboard automatically powers down when you're not using it and turns on instantly as soon as you start typing. This intelligent power management means you'll get up to nine months of battery life based on average usage patterns. It also has an on/off switch for when you're away from your computer for a long time."
This doesn't indicate how many minutes of no use it needs before it 'powers down' (doesn't sound as good as really being turned off) and it also doesn't address the issue of knowing if your keyboard is on or off via the power button.
Even my dog electric training collar blinks twice when it is turned on and blinks three times when it is turned off. The Apple keyboard needs two indicator lights, one to tell you if it is searching for pairing and the other strictly as an on off indicator. I'm not going to loose any sleep over this, but it does seem like somebody was sleeping in the design department as this keyboard is really cool, but it doesn't convey the basic on/off information to the user.

  • How do I turn off the Voice Over for my Mac?

When the clock struck midnight, September 18th, a VoiceOver utility box came and popped up in my face for my MacBook Pro and I would like to know how to turn it off besides just muting and hiding the text boxes because there are still little chimes that occur while typing and I want no sounds to come from this demonic application ever again!

My 2 y/o grandson came over and was banging away at the keyboard and started the hitherto unknown VoiceOver Utility.  This worked. Thanks.

  • How about a new org: "The Consortium of Small but Honest Brokers"

    In this Coffee Corner thread:
BPX and the Drift toward "High-Margin/Low-Risk" (Non-)Deliverables
    Andre (T) made this comment:
The good thing is in this insane environment is if you're part of a small organization that knows how to deliver value, you'll get business. But as for the key to big customers and their big wallet, I think at this point it's pretty well guarded by SAP account execs and consulting managers as well as US and India big Four.
Assuming this comment is accurate, how can the situation be remedied?
In particular, how can us little guys helps the "big customers" with "big wallets" stop paying exorbitant amounts for "high-margin/low-risk" deliverables?  (For various definitions of "high-margin/low-risk" deliverables, see comments by Andre, Gareth, and Chris in the thread at the above link.)
Well, if a few courageous companies banded together in a consortium, we might be able to market our advice to the "big customers" as follows:
Look - we have nothing to lose because we're not getting your business anyway.
But you, on the other hand, have a lot to lose if you keep on buying bling consulting simply because you think that good consulting only comes with certain labels on it - corporate labels or buzz-word labels.
So next time you've paid between $500K and $3M for a whole lot of bling consulting, pay us (the consortium) a fraction of the price to evaluate the big guy's job and tell you what in it was and wasn't worth your money.
Hey - this may seem to you like paying twice, but what the hey - when you guys rely on bling consultants, you usually wind up paying two or more times more before the job gets done right.
Any takers out there? Any one want to be charter members of the consortium?
I bet if just a few small but quality companies would take this idea seriously, it would develop its own "cachet" (this is a fancy French word for "appeal".)
And then, who knows? The big guys might start telling a few of their departments to join the consortium, just to make sure thay they too can cash in on the "cachet".
" You may say that I'm a dreamer, but I'm not the only one ..."  Peace out.
    djh

    David,
Your idea is nice one, but a I have a story on why it won't work.
I was working with independent consultant on a project.  She mentioned one time she was at church explaining what she did for a living.  She told minister about all the different places she worked at and consulting company manager she contracted through.  The minister asked what his job was?  She explained how he found her work and ensured that the company paid for her services.
The minister replied back to her so basically he is your <certain street profession held by males>.  She replied back lauging and somewhat shocked yes.
This story is actually true and is probably a good assessment of the SAP consulting market on the whole.  Until the business gets away from sharing a lot of similar characteristics with other street businesses, your goal below is less than possible.
    Take care,
    Stephen

  • New hard drive for mac, how do i move all the old over?

My partitioned HD on my mac now has too small a partition for the OS 10.3 to run stably. As I believe it is impossible to enlarge the partition OS runs on without erasing the whole HD first I want to put a larger HD into the mac. How can I move everything from old HD to new? I have all the panther and relevant application discs but I will lose all my mail messages, music etc. Or at least I will not be able to move them to the new HD etc without a fight.
Is there a simple way? I have the mac that is g4 blue, I think it will take a slave drive
I must stress I don't have a storage problem per se I could just get an external HD if that was the issue. I simply have too big a system now to run well on the stupidly small partition I created years ago. thanks
    N

    Nick:
You have given very little information on your computer, so it is difficult to give a comprehensive answer to your issue. A few suggestions:
    1. It is neither necessary nor recommended to partition an internal Hard Disk Drive if you are running only one version of OS X on it, except on some older G3 machines which require that OS X be installed on the first 8 GB.
    2. You can move/backup your entire HDD including your OS, Users Folder etc. by cloning to another HDD using a utility like SuperDuper
or Carbon Copy Cloner. You can clone to an external firewire HDD, to a second internal HDD, or to a second firewire Mac via Firewire Target Disk Mode. If you tell us exactly what mac you have and what other equipment I can be more specific.
    3. It is possible to repartition your HDD on the fly. There are several utilities that are available like Volume Works or iPartition. However, I have not heard of successful repartitioning with those. The only one that I have successful reports from is DriveGenius, which, incidentally, has other functons like Directory repairs and disk defragmentation.
Please do post back with further questions or comments.

  • How about some flash for the ipad

I have read many posts on flash and apples ios. All parties have valid points. I am a student and am very interested in the capability of using digital books. Unfortunately most of these are in flash. I have been very pleased with my ipad but I must say, without the choice of being able to use flash it is no more than just a toy. I believe if apple wants to be serious about their touch devises being implemented outside of games and something to be used to just pass the time they need to at least allow the customer to decide if they would like to sacrifice power on the device in order to expand the capabilities. It is a shame that these issues cannot be resolved to benefit the customer.

It's been rehashed sooooo many times:
The problem wasn't with Apple.  Adobe could never get a version that worked well in iOS.
Adobe has since stated that they are stopping development of Flash for ALL mobile platforms.
So we won't be seeing Flash on any iOS device.

  • How about some specs on the Audigy/X-fi J1 hea

Many cases out there come with two front-panel audio jacks. One for headphones, and the other for the microphone. The Audigy and X-fi include a header (referred to as J) for OEMs to connect these. Information on using this jack is provided to large OEM's like Dell. However, Creative is a little hesitant tp help with the highly experienced mod community.Anyways, lets start with information on the passi've AC97 front-panel dongles that come with most cases. These are expected to be used with the onboard AC97 audio on your motherboard. Here is your typical NC (Normally Closed), switching type, 3 conductor (ring-tip-sleeve) mini-phone jack. This is the type of jack used on most front panels:
<IMG src="http://www.jve.com/images/typical.jpg">The connection to the sleeve is the rectangle on the left. The upper line with the notch is the connection to the ring, and the lower line with the notch is the connection to the tip. The jack also has two normally closed switches that connect to the contacts themselves. Wiring connections are illustrated with white circles. In a typical front panel setup, two of these are soldered onto a PCB with a header. Wires attached to this header are then run to the appropriate connections on your motherboards on-board audio. Now lets look at how an AC97 front panel headphone jack works:<IMG src="http://www.jve.com/images/fphp.jpg">
As you can see the switches in the jack are normally closed... So the signal passes from your motherboard, up the wire, into the headphone jack, back through the wire, into your motherboard. When a jack is plugged in, the switches are open, breaking the signal back to your motherboard.Now... I have to mention some ugliness. Some case manufacturers (*cough* Coolermaster, *cough* Silverstone) do something like this on the wires that connect to the motherboard:
    <IMG src="http://www.jve.com/images/cooler.jpg">
This will result in your backpanel outputs (in other words, your speakers) continuing to receive a signal while you have headphones hooked up. Note that sometimes this is also accomplished with some trickery on the front panel dongle PCB.Here is how an AC97 microphone jack is expected to be wired:
    <IMG src="http://www.jve.com/images/fphp2.jpg">
I haven't looked into the details of the microphone jack as much, but this is what you will see.Next I will go into Creatives J header. Here is the confirmed pin-out for the J header:
<IMG src="http://www.jve.com/images/fpoem.jpg">Note this is how the header is mounted on the card:<IMG src="http://www.jve.com/images/audigyj.jpg">
Pin 3, the headphone detection pin, is of particular interest. When this is switched to ground your back-panel connected will mute. These are the descriptions for the other pins floating around on the net, however I am not able to confirm their accuracy yet:
    <BLOCKQUOTE dir=ltr>
    <EM>#5 Back-panel Mute -- short to ground</EM>
<EM>#7 key pin (shouldn't be there)</EM><I>#9 MIC IN MUTE -- ground when mic isn't plugged in, +2VDC when mic is plugged in</I><I>#0 Audio cable detect -- will be ground when headphones are plugged in</I>[/quote]
<EM></EM>Pin 3 mutes all the speakers from my tests, however despite the the descriptions of others... grounding pin 5 appears to do nothing... not even mute the back microphone.Pin 9 doesn't appear to mute the microphone either. I am thinking if this pin gives 2V when the microphone is plugged in, that it is intended for optional analog circuits present on some panels (Microphone volume for instance). The AC97 spec provides a 5V pin for this, although no one seems to use it. I don't have the equipment handy on me to investigate further.Now... backtracking a bit here... if you read my previous post, you should see connecting the signal returns on your AC97 front-panel headphone jack to the headphone detection pin (#3) is a useless exercise. This pin is expecting to be grounded when the headphones are present.Essentially for the headphones Creative is requiring OEM's use this sort of jack:<IMG height=343 src="http://www.jve.com/images/bettaj.jpg" width=47>
This jack has a switch which is normally open. When a plug is inserted the switch closes. This kind of jack is purchasable from Foxconn and is present on the rare Intel HD Audio front panel dongles.... so they are available. (Intel HD Audio front panels are a whole different discussion, and have no direct relation to the J header.)Onto a few other things.... There was some talk of the microphone front-panel jack being mute without something in the back-panel mic jack. I however found the microphone front-panel jack did work, however the signal sounded a bit poorer. I did not investigate further.
It is understood that AC97 front-panel dongles are of limited use with the J header. However modders and prefectionists like myself ARE capable of building a frontpanel that fully complies with the requirements of the J header. The smaller pins on the header are already sufficient to keep any newbie that may damage his card, far away.
Will Creative please save us some time and reveal specifications for the J header? I already know what most of the pins do.Message Edited by twistedemotions on 09-20-2005 2:50 PM

  • How about a version of the Sport with longer battery life?

While some(including myself) are frustrated that the Sport isn't Rockboxable, getting 2/3 more battery life than the Clip Zip using a battery 25% smaller is a great increase in power efficiency. This 120% increase in power efficiency is quite nice. It would be great though to be able to buy a version of the Clip Sport with 16GB built in memory, and a 440 mah battery(double the size of what the Sport has) built in, giving 50 hours of play time. I'm wondering if such a player could be priced at $80. Due to the 2000 song limit for each or card memory and internal memory, many will decide to use just a 16GB card in the player, as they already reach the 2000 song limit in under 16GB, as I did using 256kbps mp3 files. This makes having 16GB built in storage so much more useful.

Perhaps $70 or under would be much better.

  • How can I share my iPhoto Library over internet

My friend and I want to share our iPhoto Library(size 5.19 GB and growing). We don't live together so we are not on the same network.
We were really hoping we could do this with mobile me. This is what we thought we could do with mobileme(but later found out it's not possible). Not possible but this is what we want to do: *We thought we would be able sync our iphoto library. This way we could work on or off line, make changes in iphoto have it auto sync and when he went to iphoto he would see the changes I made and he could make changes and I would see them when I went to iphoto. No one would have to manually sync or have to remember to sync.* On Mobile Me the sync function doesn't do it with iphoto. Are you aware of a company, software, or service that would allow us to do this?
Of if you don't know of a way we can have it sync then do you know of a service that we can store our library on and work from. The key would be to be able to work on the file while it's on their server at a reasonable fast speed. Doing it this way nothing would be physically stored on our computers. It would be stored on somoene else's server.
*Below are our options we are aware of using mobile me*(We are looking for other options:
We thought we could use mobile me to sync, but it doesn't sync iphoto. We could use idisk(in conjunction to or .mac account). We would upload the library to idisk, then when we wanted to use it we would download it to our computer make changes and upload it and the next person could do the same. The only problem is with it being so large it takes a very long time to upload to idisk/.mac account and up to now I haven't been able to get it up on .mac(I just got off the phone with mac and we tried everything and it the idisk sync just fails everytime.)Even if it did work it's not what we are looking for. The other option I am aware of would be to use *Back to My Mac*(also part of mobile me). This would entail both of us leaving our computers on(not in sleep mode) and we could log on to the other computer and grab what we want make changes and return it.
If you have other ideas please suggest.

YOu can share photos via web galleries but not the iPhoto library directly - and even if you were on the same network there is no ability to sync two iPhoto libraries
As to ahving your iPhoto library on the internet - no to that too - even a wireless connection to the library does not work - too slow and too unreliable - putting it on the net is not possible unless someone comes up with a giant step that direction
in addition to web galleries you can upload to your iDisk or to a third party service - Back to my Mac I guess would be a way - you would have to update yoru computer and your buddies doubling your work and increasing the time a lot more than that

  • HT5313 How about fixing the bugs in iCal? and Sleep Mode?

The 10.7.5 update sure has a lot of fluff patches. When is Apple going to fix something important, like all the bugs in iCal? And the bugs in Sleep Mode?
    Examples:
    • iCal events tend to pop up 30+ minutes late all day if I sleep the computer overnight. This has been going on since 10.3.9.
    • Network Issues: iChat sessions via Bonjour have to be manually restarted after coming out of sleep.
    • Disks mounted over the network dismount during sleep.
    • Screen Saver doesn't play well with other apps: I lock the screen when I'm away from my desk. If Firefox starts using all available CPU time while the screen saver is on, screen saver won't exit. This can make it very difficult to get control of the machine.
How about a patch for the above?
I'm a professional software engineer, so spare me the Blame The Customer tactics.

    PS. Best Example:
    • Last week I almost missed an appointment because iCal decided I wanted to be alerted to this event 9 hours after it happened. ... Maybe you think I typed it into iCal wrong. So what if I did? WHO THE #@$! WANTS AN ALERT *AFTER* AN EVENT HAPPENS? Why is it even an option?
