How about Multiple Modular Learning in Learning management system (LMS)

Hi Experts,
Can anybody help me in understanding Multiple Modular Learning and how it can be incorporated in Learning management system (LMS)? Also I want to know whether LMS can support it? If LMS can support it then what are the methods and strategies available in Multiple Modular Learning? I need to know a lot about it and I hope you guys can urgently help me with this.

Hi Experts,
I am still struck on this big time.
My doubt is that in SAP E-Learning we provide students with a single sequence only Eg: Units , Followed by Lessons, Followed by Try mes ( basically excercises) , Followed by Multiple choice questions.
Is it possible for a students say for Eg: Complete the Try mes' first then understand the lessons or Learn the theory first and then do the Try mes' later. I am trying to do ways and means of doing this and also would want to know whether LMS supports this or not and how to make it work through LMS?
I will be gratefull if some one can help me on this?
Regards

  • Elearning suite to Learning Management System (LMS) - how-to from an InDesign file?

We need to be able to export InDesign files to a portable SCORM format that could be loaded into various Learning Management Systems (LMS) – however, it is not obvious how we would do this? We need to publish our documents both in a book\PDF format and to various LMS systems such as Blackboard, Moodle, Angel, Desire2Learn, etc.
What am I trying to accomplish? Many of our College and University clients use Learning Management Systems (LMS).  SCORM is a standardized interchange format used to provide internet ready information (e-book data, test questions, etc.) to any LMS systems. We need to export formatted InDesign documents – which for us are our Lab Manual (book) publications which include: text, graphics, pictures, etc.
Adobe advertises SCORM compatibility as part of its e-learning suite: http://help.adobe.com/en_US/elearningsuite/els/extensions/WSD40882CF-6 C5C-46c0-8D51-273830EB036B.html --- however, I cannot find anyone who can tell me how to get there from InDesign.
In addition, I find it very frustrating that after many calls to Adobe sales and technical staff that I can't find anyone who can help me with the details of how to get from InDesign to Adobe's "SCORM Packager"  See: http://blogs.adobe.com/captivate/2009/01/scorm_packager.html which I believe is a part of the e-learning suite.
Is it possible to find a high level technical resource within Adobe that I could talk to who could help me with this issue --- we need to test the ability to produce SCORM compatible files from our InDesign files before we can make a purchase decision.

Adobe's Multi SCORM Packaging tool is designed to take existing single SCORM packages (in zip file format) and merge them into a multi SCORM package with a rewritten imsmanifest.xml file at the root level to tell the LMS what the package contains.  This allows the LMS to build the array of links that its SCORM player requires to allow the course user to navigate from one module to another.
So if InDesign is not currently capable of creating even a single SCO SCORM package, the Adobe Multi-SCORM Packaging tool is not going to be much use to you.
In reality, the Adobe tool is quite limited in functionality.  It's more designed as an add-on for Captivate to allow multi-SCORM courses to be created. Your best bet would probably be to investigate other SCORM packaging tools such as RELOAD that allow you to take content created elsewhere and add them to a SCORM package as resources.
You may need to export your InDesign content as PDF files and have these set up as individual resources or assets in the SCORM package.
However, for any of this to work with an LMS is going to require the final package to have a SCORM API (done with JavaScript) so that user interaction with the individual components of the course is relayed back to the LMS via JavaScript variables.  Packaging tools such as RELOAD may be able to do this with some types of content (e.g. HTML) but I don't know if InDesign output is going to be compatible with this approach.
Have you designed your InDesign course content with interactivity in mind, or is it just straight content delivered in a documentation format?

    Have a look at Perch
Perch - The really little content management system (CMS) - Perch
It requires a php/mysql database to run but the tables and set up are all automated through the Perch set up files - you just need a server that runs php/mysql. It works on the same principals as the one Ben suggested but its a lot cheaper for a one off site - however if you intend to build more CMS driven sites the one Ben suggested might be more financially viable in the long run.
The nice thing about Perch CMS is it fits in with your workflow unlike Wordpress/Joomla where you have to jump through hoops to change anything.
Plus I think you can take Perch for a spin before buying (or at least you could when I was exploring CMSs) - you can't with Power CMS. I never investigated Power CMS beacuse I would not buy something before trying it. It looks good but it might be a bit dated as it doesnt seem to be in continuous develoment. Perch is in a constant state of development and the guys are working to make it better on a daily basis.

  • How to apply patches by using solution manager system?

    HELLO FRIENDS,
when i download the patch SAPKB70012 & next level patches from service market place, it says that we have to apply the following packages by using maintenance optimizer(solution manager). here i have solution manager4.0., please any one let me know how to configure the maintenance optimzr  and how to apply support packages by the solution manager system.
              Thanks&Regards

    Hello
Solman will not implement the files you can download the files using Solman. You need to move the downloaded files to application server and implement them for that you need to configure MoPZ
You can go to server market place service.sap.com/RKT in that select Solution manager.
You will have to select the product as solution manager 7.0 and in technology consultants and system administrator you will find the configuration documentations in for for SIM files.
You can use that and learn how to configure the optimizer on the system.
Then you can download the files and implement the same.

  • How to create a built in Content Management System

Hey guys, I've found myself in a spot of trouble.
My client commissioned me to create for him a website for his new restaurant (Paul's Place). I built him a responsive site using another website I found online (www.megnarestaurant.com) as a guideline. The problem is though that the client plans on changing the menu about every month and wants to be able to change it himself. I could teach him how to edit the files and add new ocntent himself (It's not even that hard after all) but that just doesn't seem like the right option.
Instead, I want to create a built in content management system that doesn't require a third party website or software like Wordpress or Joomla. I was thinking about having a page called "www.paulsdiner.com/login" where the client can log in using a username and password and can then change the content of the website.
My menu page is pretty much the same as the one found on "www.megnarestaurant.com/starters.html". I'm also using gloriafoods as an ordering system meaning that the client will have to change it on both the website itself and on the actual gloriafoods website (Not really an issue).
I want the client to be able to edit the menu boxes and add new boxes along with being able to add a new menu section (Like in the Jump Menu) which follows the template of the existing Jump Menu.
I'm making this website as a favour to my friend so I'm not being paid. As a point of reference (And future bragging and maybe some innocent blackmail ) how much do you guys think the creator of "www.megnarestaurant.com" charged his client?

  • How to save ALV extract to document management system

    Hi all,
i have a requirement of saving the alv extract to DOCUMENT MANAGEMENT SYSTEM. Could any one of you please help me out in giving a solution to do this.
    Thanks in advance.
    Kiran

    Hi
    check this
SAP DMS - Document Management System
SAP DMS are for storing documents such as CAD drawings, Materials pictures etc.
With the document management system, users will be able to view the documents with ease within their SAP systems.
Installing the SAP DMS requires a little bit of planning on how you want to do it.
You have to give a little thoughts to stuff such as :-
    1.  The total numbers of documents that will be store monthly.
    2.  The average file size of each documents.
    3.  The capacity of your present R/3 system.
    4.  Your present network bandwidth.
    5.   Document Archiving Strategy.
    6.   Backup and Recovery Plan.
Additional purchasing of hardware are required, especially if you have large amount of documents to stored.
With this in mind, you can then decide on how you want to do it.
You can do this in a few ways :-
    1.  Import the documents into the R/3 system.
    2.  Use an external document server.
    3.  Have a dedicated PCs where all the documents are stored.
Most companies that intend to used DMS will opt for Option 2 as they does not want to overstretch the R/3 database.
Options 1 requires you to setup the conversion interface.
The conversion interface allows R/3 to automatically covert your files and import it into the R/3 database.
Here is a simple example of storing documents into your PCs, just to have a feel how the SAP DMS works:-
For those using Citrix, you have to set this at the Citrix Server where the SAPGUI is located.
    Configure SM30 - V_TDWE_C1
Put this command in your autoexec.bat
    SET HOSTNAME=PC1234
    Restart your pc.
You can create/manage your documents in transaction code CV01N / CV02N
Assigning Documents to a Material Master Record
Access a material master record in Create or Change mode, and select Basic Data.
To create links to documents, choose Additional data -> Document data.
The Link to Documents dialog box appears.
Assign one or more documents to the material.
If you do not know what the document number is, you can search for it using the search help or by choosing Find document.
When assigning a document to a material, you have the following options:
    1. Viewing the document by choosing it in the Link to Documents dialog box.
    2. Viewing any originals of the document by positioning the cursor on the document and
choosing Display originals in the Link to Documents dialog box.
To return to the Basic Data screen, choose Continue.
    Save your data.

  • How to connect to a Learning Management System (LMS)

Are there any tutorials available on how to connect an LMS with Captivate or a walkthrough someone could offer me?

As Lilybiri states, Captivate is SCORM-compliant, meaning it can publish a SCORM-compliant file. Per the SCORM spec, any SCORM-compliant content must be uploaded to a SCORM-compliant LMS as a .zip file (technically, a '.pif' file, but .zip is the most common).
Now, the actual process your LMS requires to upload a SCORM package completely depends on the LMS, so refer to your LMS documentation/support on how to do that.
Within CP itself, also as Lilybiri pointed out, you need to setup the preferences properly - selecting SCORM (or AICC if that's you and your LMS preference), the version, the various manifest requirements, and the various scoring/reporting options. That in itself is an entire discusion - do refer to the Captivate help on those sections first.

  • Anyone use AJAX with Learning Management Systems

I recently upgraded to Dreamweaver CS3. After looking at it
briefly the thought occured to me that the AJAX functionality might
be applied to Learning Management System courses. Typically,
courses fired through a Learning Management System (LMS) use AICC
or SCORM compliant JavaScript in order to achieve the user scoring
    interactions.
Has anyone employed the AJAX functionality in Dreamweaver CS3
to enhance LMS functionality? Any Thoughts?
    Thank you,
    TPK

It should be perfectly fine to include it in head - depending on wha you want.
Try to use Firebug for firefox to debug errors.
You can add plugins to wordpress that makes it easier to include scripts.

  • Need help to develop a leave management system

    Hi All,
Can someone please guide me how to start with developing a leave management system? I know core java but nothing beyond that. I'd love to read J2EE and do this project.
I'd appreciate if someone can guide how to start doing this project.
For my LMS, requirement is this
Requirement : User login and after that he would get a homepage. In the homepage, we need to show the details of the leave taken along with option of leave application.
Similarly an admin shud have option to register the new user and also check his leave status (no of leaves). Shud be able to generate a report for the same.
A mail shud go to the manager for the leave application from the employee.
    Thanks

For learning Java EE 5, it is difficult to beat the [Java EE 5 Tutorial|http://java.sun.com/javaee/5/docs/tutorial/doc/] (PDF).
You have several options for implementing what you describe. Your web pages could be implemented with [JavaServer Pages|http://java.sun.com/javaee/5/docs/tutorial/doc/bnagx.html] and your login requirement means that you need to think about your [authentication mechanism|http://java.sun.com/javaee/5/docs/tutorial/doc/bncbe.html#bncbn], part of [securing a web application|http://java.sun.com/javaee/5/docs/tutorial/doc/bncas.html]. When i try to access iwork on iCloud on my mac, i get an ipage logo with 2 options learn/get image. I already have ipage on my mac. How can i get to the file  management page?

Lion will only let you add documents to iCloud through iCloud.com, iCloud.com requires the iOS apps before you can use it.
Mountain Lion will let you add documents to iCloud from the iWork apps themselves, you don't then need the iOS apps before they can be opened on another Mac.
