How add existing ipod content to newly installed notebook?

Hi,
I bought my ipod video 30 Gb last week, and I am very happy with it.
I installed all content I wanted onto my ipod, but I was forced to reinstall my notebook, due to a virus.
All the content on my ipod is good, and I would like to restore this content into the local library of (my newly installed) iTunes.
How should I do this?
It seems that on intial connection, I only have the option to change the ipod content to what my (newly installed iTunes, thus empty) library contains.
Please help!

I have a similar but more embarrassing problem. I "moved to trash" yes I said moved to trash, my entire MUSIC folder from finder. While CAREFULLY opening Trash, somehow empty trash was selected and I've spent the last 6 hours trying to figure out how to get my "ipod selection", which amounts to approx. 70% of the lost itunes library, back into that library.

Copy all the content on your iPod back to your PC and into iTunes. Then go ahead and sync the iPod with your new library.

How to inform the kernel about newly installed STREAMS MODULE?

I made a copy of timod and installed the copy to /kernel/strmod
as a new module (newmod). I modified the t_open.c to make
it to use the "newmod" instead of the timod. The result of the
test is "Invalid Argument". It looks like the kernel doesn't
recognize the module "newmod". I looked throught Sun
Docs, I'm not able to find any instruction for how to
make kernel to recognize my new STREAMS module name
as the add_drv does for device drivers. Can anyone point
me to the right docs and give me some instructions for informing
the kernel about the newly installed STREAMS module?

Forget my precedent post, here is what's on the configuration page of this module :

If someone could tell me which checkboxe I should select and what to put into fields it would be king as I really have no idea of what to enter and what to select.

Cannot figure out how to view ipod contents on itunes screen??

My kids have the nanos where I could see what had been transferred over and what wasn't. With my 5th generation, I can't figure out how to view it's contents. I get the summary screen and related screens on what to sync with the 7.0 version.

On the left-hand sidebar in iTunes you should be able to see your iPod - icon with name beside it. Underneath it, there should be listings like music, movies, T.V. shows, podcasts, audiobooks. (I guess if there's nothing on the iPod yet there may be none of that) Select one of the items and it will show you the iPods' contents of that particular thing.

Is it possible to stop Windows from showing / highlighting newly installed applications?

Don't use the Start screen? I say that somewhat facetiously, because I almost never use the Start screen (except to find out how it works when someone has a question). Besides, the designation disappears after you use the program once.
How do I avoid using the Start screen? Normally you get to it by hitting the Windows key from the desktop. Then you have to click the down arrow at the bottom of the screen to get to the Start screen. Instead of hitting the down arrow (which
means you have taken your hand off the keyboard to move the cursor with the mouse), simply start typing. For example, typing "ph" would find and display any application/file starting with "ph". It works really fast - typing
"photo" would return anything starting with "photo", if you want a shorter list. If Photoshop were the only thing starting with "photo" (it isn't), a simple carriage return would launch the program. So I generally
type enough to make it unique, or, if it still finds a few more, a couple of down arrows on the keyboard gets me to it. I have found that to be a lot faster than using the Start screen. Actually started doing this with Vista and hardly ever use
the Start screens any more because it is so much faster than trying to navigate some sort of start tree or screen.

ITunes can't read iPod contents after Archive & Install

Hi,
I recently had to replace the hard drive in my Mac Mini, and now that it is back up and running again iTunes will no longer sync with my iPod. When I start iTunes, I get the following error message:
iTunes cannot read the contents of the iPod "Timothy
Macinta's iPod". Go to the Summary tab in iPod
preferences and click Restore to restore this iPod to
factory settings.
I would prefer to avoid restoring the iPod so that I can retain the play counts, ratings, etc. which I have changed on my iPod over the course of the last week when my computer was under the knife. It won't be a disaster if I can't do this and end up needing to restore the iPod, but I thought I would ask in case anybody had any tips.
For what it's worth, /Applications/iTunes.app is identical to what it was before the Archive & Install. So is ~/Music/iTunes/ . Are there other files or directories where iTunes keeps track of what iPods it knows about and which I could try restoring from my backup?

I figured out how to fix the problem and I figured I would post a follow up in case anybody runs into the same problem. Since I originally posted, I discovered that iTunes had additional problems. Specifically, when I tried to play songs which had been downloaded from the iTunes Store, it asked me for my iTunes account and password and entering them produced an error that was something like: "A required iTunes component is not installed. (-42401)" I downloaded the latest iTunes directly from Apple:

and then reinstalled it. Now I can play songs from the Store again and my iPod happily syncs. I don't know why it wasn't working before given that I had updated everything on the system, including iTunes, to the latest version with Software Update.

How can I tell if my newly installed RAM is functioning properly?

Can someone shed some light on whether it's possible to tell whether my new RAM is functioning correctly?
Last week I installed 1G ram to my Intel iMac that already had 1G already installed. When I look at the "About this Mac" screen, it says that I have 2G ram installed on the computer.
I currently only have 2 iMovie projects and Safari open. When I look at iStat Nano, here's what it says under the Memory Status:
Wired: 156 MB
Inactive: 1.46 GB
Free: 48 MB
Active: 354 MB
Used: 1.95 GB
Swap: 148 MB
What does these numbers mean?
Here's another confusing part, the bar indicating memory usage is 98% filled.
Am I really maxed out on ram with just iMovie and Safari open? Can it be that my ram is not functioning correctly? Is there a way to find out?

You have 2 GBs of RAM installed according to About This Mac. As for memory status reports see the following: Reading system memory usage in Activity Monitor.

Syncing iPod to newly installed iTunes

will i lose all my songs if i try to sync my iPod to a newly installed version of iTunes? i uninstalled iTunes awhile ago and want to reinstall and sync my iPod but heard i may lose the songs. does anybody know if this is true? thanks in advance!

No uninstalling and re-installing iTunes should have no affect on the content that was stored in it. So after re-installing iTunes, your content is still appearing there, you can safely sync your iPod.
If not, you'll need to re-import all that content back into your library from your computer again.
