How are imported albums organised?

I have imported all my photos from iPhoto into Photos. When viewing my previous albums from iPhoto in Photos the albums are no longer in the original order or anything reasonable. It is possible to organise the albums by title, but this is not very usable.
Unchecking organise by title in the View menu leads to a total jumble with no discernible order making it totally unusable.
Is there any way to preserve the album order and content from iPhoto to Photos?  Am I missing something here?
It appears to me that there must be a way to preserve the album order from iPhoto migrating to Photos!  This is a disaster for me unless it is fixed.
I have hundreds of carefully sorted folders in iPhoto in a specific order. Without preserving the folder order I have a disaster!

Are the Photo developers out of their minds?
They expect everybody has to transfer the images from iPhoto to Photos. Given that iPhoto used events as a paradigm, and the events were chronologically  constructed to begin with, why cause havoc by ditching the paradigm.  I would probably take the effective date of the images of the event as the date of the earliest picture and then sort by date in Photos. Or just keep the order that was given in iPhoto as the initial order, and add new albums at the end.
The Photos paradigm of only using date to sort photos  , while not sorting the albums by date is idiotic in my opinion.
Better yet, keep the event category and preserve the order from iPhoto and serve your users!  I have only 14000 pictures, I am sure there are others that have 10 times that many...
Do you know a good program that I could use to replace iPhoto?
Thanks

Have put a lot of work to group my photos in my previous iPhoto. Now, got the '08 (7.0) Version and imported the Library. All the pictures seem to be in, even more, pictures, I believed to be erased..
But don't have a clue, how to import the albums, so the photos are grouped again as they were..
Working in Leopard (10.5.2). My other iPhoto with albums is still on another (internal) hard drive with Tiger as OS.
Any idea, how to import the albums ?
    Thanks

In iPhoto's General preferences pane check the checkbox "Show Item Counts".
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto (iPhoto.Library for iPhoto 5 and earlier) database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 6 and 7 libraries and Tiger and Leopard. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.

  • How to import Albums from iPhoto 2 to iPhoto 6

Just got a couple new Duo2Cores to replace/compliment some G4s; the G4's all had the old iPhoto 2 installed. How do I get the Albums to transfer from a G4 iPhoto 2 to iPhoto 6? The individual photos copy over fine, but I'd sure like to preserve all my albums!
    Thanks!

As Dochollerday pointed out before running iPhoto6 on your old library it's wise to make sure the permissions are OK and there are no locked files (why they get locked is a mystery but sometimes they do - I happened to me). A very quick and easy way to achieve both issues at once is to download and run BatChmod on the iPhoto Library folder with the settings shown here, putting your administartive name in the owner and group sections. You can either type in the path to the folder or just drag the folder into that field.

  • How to import album i bought from store to my itunes

how do i IMPORT OR FIND MY ALBUMS i BOUGHT FROM iTUNES AS SAY PURCHASED BUT NOT IN MY ITUNES

If you no longer have them in the Music part of your iTunes library then you may be able to redownload them via the Purchased link under Quick Links on the right-hand side of the iTunes store homepage - if you've changed countries since buying them or if the rights-holder has removed them from the store then you won't be able to redownload them.
Or you can add them from your backup of your downloads/library via the File > Add To Library menu option.

  • How to import albums

I know this is probably simple, but I'm trying to import entire folders of music to my ipod. But when I try to it only lets me import like one song at a time. I disabled the sync thing cuz it was putting all my music on my ipod when i only wanted to put certain albums on it. Can anyone help me out?

  • How to import from a slider to itunes?

Does anyone know how to import my entires itunes files from my corsair slider to itunes in my new computer?

    Copy the files from the Corsair Slider onto your computer, preferably to the folder that iTunes is using for your iTunes Library. On my Windows 7, this is;
    for one-artist albums: Music\iTunes\iTunes Music\<artist name>\<album name>
    for multi-artist (compilations): Music\iTunes\iTunes Music\Compilations\<album name>
So if you are importing Album Two by Artist A and you already have albums in your iTunes Library by Artist A, simply drop the new songs into a folder named Album Two. That is, Music\iTunes\iTunes Music\Artist A\Album Two\<songs>
Then, either drag those new folders, or individual songs into the open iTunes window or, from within iTunes, use File/Add File to Library or File/Add Folder to Library as appropriate.

For the missing Artists on your iPod, make sure their tracks in iTunes are not marked as "Part of a compilation" in iTunes. You can do this by highlighting the track, right->clicking on them and choosing "Get Info" from the shortcut menu. When the window pops up, head over to the Info tab and make sure there is NO tick mark next to this option in the lower right hand corner. Lastly, sync the updated changes to your iPod.

  • How to delete empty Last Import albums on Ipad2

This is both a question and a partial solution to anyone who has found empty Last Import albums on their Ipad2 after upgrading to IOS 5.1.  I ended up with three Last Import albums on my Ipad under the Photos App after the upgrade to 5.1 and Iphoto app.
I could not delete them no matter what I tried.  Even turned off Photo sync in Itunes and had it remove all photos from the Ipad and the empty folders are still there.
I ended up trying a round about way of getting rid of the empties.  I reasoned that the Camera Connection kit had created this mess and maybe it could fix it.
Solution:   (Only practical with a few empty folders)
Shoot some photos with a digital camera using a SD card.
Put the SD Card in the Camera Connection Kit and connect to the Ipad.  Import the images but keep them on the card.
Disconnect the CCK and hook up to your Mac with Iphoto running. Import the images and delete from the Ipad when asked.
    Delete photos from Iphoto.
Repeat several times and you should notice that each time one more Last Import album vanishes from the Ipad.
Hope this helps someone else with this problem and Apple comes out with a better solution to this.

I found a solution! I added a comment over on the shimworld blog (http://shimworld.wordpress.com/2011/11/02/how-to-remove-empty-photo-import-event s-on-your-ipad-2/#comment-18392), I'll repost it here:
I ran into this same issue on my new iPad(3rd gen) after upgrading from iPad 2, I had a few hundred empty events(it took at least 30s of scrolling as fast as I could to reach the bottom). I use the camera connection kit as well as the EyeFI app to import photos constantly so it was a bit of a mess. I’m doing a road trip to SF area soon and needed space for new photos so I need to figure something out. After a bunch of digging around on the internet and looking into tools from my earlier jailbreaking days, I found a solution to do a full reset on the Photos.app. This does NOT require a jailbreak!
First I imported all photos to my mac using Image Capture. Then I turned off iCloud’s PhotoStream, turned off photo syncing in iTunes and let a the iPad do a full sync and backup. Next I ran DiskAid and deleted the photo related folders under the File System -> Media area(see below). This removed EVERYTHING from the Photos.app. Then I rebooted the iPad. The Photos.app was empty just like on a new device! I snapped a couple pics with the camera and it created the camera roll, I turned PhotoStream back on, synced some photos from iTunes. Everything seems to be working great now, just like new!
BEWARE: THIS WILL DELETE ALL PHOTOS STORED ON YOUR DEVICE in Photos.app!!! MAKE A BACKUP!!!!
Connect iOS device with USB and fire up DiskAid. In DiskAid click File System, then click Media. READ WARNING and accept.
    Delete these folders:
PhotoData (this has all the photos, database, etc synced from iTunes)
DCIM (this is the camera roll)
Photos (I think this is just the data to determine which iTunes library its synced with)
    PhotoStreamsData (iCloud Photo Stream data)
Reboot iPad(probably not required but doesn’t hurt)
    Enjoy a fully reset Photos.app!
DiskAid: I used v5.12 on my Mac Mini(10.7.3)

  • How to import as an album?

    Hi all!
I am new in this forum and also new Aperture user. I am importing my photos to Aperture library and everything is going smoothly. One question though, is it possible to import pics from card reader straight as an album into Aperture library? At the moment I have date hierarchy and all imports are as albums (these are imported for hard disk as projects). But is it possible to import into one particular folder as an album? Or how should I do this? Thanks for any advice!
    Best wishes,
    Jonne

You can import directly to an album, as long as this is inside a project, which would be the actual container of the images. Albums contain only links to the images.
Simply point to the album at the time of importing and all those images will show inside that album.

  • How to import photo from album in Iphone into computer?

How to import photo from album in Iphone into computer?

You can't. You can import from the Camera Roll only.
Photos transferred from your computer to your iPhone via the iTunes sync/transfer process should remain on your computer. Photos transferred from your computer are optimized for viewing on your iPhone via the iTunes sync/transfer process - the original resolution of these photos is reduced, which is why transferring these photos in the opposite direction is not supported. These photos should remain on your computer and be included with your computer's backup.
There are some 3rd party paid utilities that provide for transferring these photos in the opposite direction but such utilities are not supported by Apple and the original resolution of these photos will be lost.
    Here is one such utility.

  • How to find a selection of photos taken at different dates but imported together. I want them in the same album but they're no longer in the "last import" album.

I imported a bunch of photos taken at different dates that i wanted to group together in the same album but they are not in the "last import" album and are all just mixed in with "all photos" according to the dates they were taken and it's impossible to sift through them all to select the ones i wanted.

Sorry I'm terrible at explaining and even using my macbook haha. Let me try again. I imported some photos that I wanted to group together into an album. I forgot to create the album before importing a new set of photos which then took the place of the previous ones in the "last import" album. Is there anywhere or any way I can easily find the selection of photos I forgot to put into an album together without having to select them one by one from the "all photos" section? These would be the only pictures in my Photos application that haven't been organized into an album yet if that helps; however, these photos were not taken on the same date.
