How are iphone apps distrubted to the 5 devices of the developer program?
I know I can authorize up to 5 devices for my developer program. But how exactly are those apps distributed? I have a member of the team who will be offshore. Do the devices have to physically connect to my dev machine that is loaded with SDK? Do I send over the .app or something? Or does he have to install SDK and build from source?
They will not need to do development, only testing. My only option is ad-hoc? Are the files sent to him? What are the other distribution methods?

We terminate user and we sometimes like to remote wipe or get back a phone that is locked by a passcode we do not know what it is? So how are we suppose to be able to wipe the devices. I am in the same situation, trying to figure out the most elegant way of recovering company iPhone assets that are returned to me. It won't help for anyone already set up under an existing Apple ID, but here is what we're doing, moving forward: All AppleID accounts must be set up under the user's work email address. This way, when John Smith leaves our company, I can have our email admins reset his work email password. I then go to the Apple ID link, ask Apple to reset that user's work AppleID password through Email authentication, and that auto-email is sent to the mailbox that I now have control of. I click the "reset" link in the email, and proceed from there. Not the smoothest process, but it will hopefully work.

How can i remove an app from all my devices including the cloud?
There are some apps that we have on my family's devices and in the cloud that I'm no longer comfortable with my kids using. We share one account. How can I delete them from the devices and the cloud so they can't just reinstall them?
It will prevent them from installing any apps. Only someone with the Restriction passcode will be able to turn app downloads back on and download. You do have the option of setting app downloads based on content ratings, but I can't say how effective that is or if it would resolve your issue.

I have 2 Apple IDs. 1 associated with all the family's devices and the other with no devices associated with it. Is there a way to split out the devices between the 2 IDs without losing Apps (iPhone 4s) or music (iPod classic)?
i'd be inclined to leave things as they are. Managing app updates over more than one account in the same library or device requires you to sign in and out of each account in turn. You cannot transfer content from one account to another.

How to manage apps for lots of devices
Hi, I work @ all college in AU. We are implementing ipads as a study tool. Initially the ipads will be set up by the college, then distributed to the students to keep.
My question is about how to manage apps for so many devices. For example we have 2 apps that need to be installed for 150 units to begin with. This could get quite messy I would think. Has anyone had any experience with this sort of volumes? Any and all input would be greatly appreciated.Look in the forum above this one...

I don't know if you all realize but iTunes has been updated more than five times so can you please update your information on how to transfer apps form a IOS device to iTunes please

How are ePrint apps created and maintained?
Just bougt a new small HP printer for my home office and discovered ePrint and apps support. And amazed, did not expect this technology in entry level small/home office type printers.
And immediately new questions on what possibilities this opens up for printing applications
What is required to create new apps?
Is it possible to use this technology to add local office apps? I.e. to print site/office specific forms, trivial network interactions and maybe a bit more.
Is subscription type apps supported/allowed, where the app is only available as part of a third party subscription package?
A lot can be built around the email based ePrint service alone, but having ability to also do some simple interaction with the user at the printer would open for a wide range of new possible uses.Hi,

i have a mac book pro and a i-pad 2. both of the devices have the same apple id and same mailing adress. if i want to make a face-time call from my mac book to i-pad 2. how can i do that?
You have to add another email address on one of the two devices that you can use as the "You can be reached for FaceTime at" contact address and then remove/uncheck the Apple ID email address as the contact address on that device. The way you are currently setup is like to trying to call yourself on your on phone - from your own phone.
Using the iPad as the example go to Settings>FaceTime>You can be reached for FaceTime at>Add another email address. Then add a working email address in the next window. Apple will verify the email. Go to the inbox of that email account, read and respond to Apple's email in order to complete the verification process.
Go back to Settings>FaceTime>Uncheck the Apple ID email address and make sure that the new email address is checked/selected (you will see it being verified again) and that new email address will be your contact address for the iPad. -
it's been a while that Im unable to copy music from itunes to my iphone. I updated my device to the latest version of IOS 5.1.1 and made sure no jailbreak is installed but still not working. please assist.
Assuming you are not manually managing your music, verify the following:
You are using the latest version of iTunes
On the summary tab of your iTunes sync settings you have checked "Sync only checked songs and videos"
In your music library you have checked all the songs you want to sync to your phone
There are no exclamation points next to any of the songs you want to sync to your phone
You have authorized your computer for all Apple IDs for purchased music you want to sync to your phone (in Store>Authorize this computer)
You have checked "Sync Music" on the Music tab of your iTunes sync settings
When everything looks correct, sync your phone. -

I have installed the new up to date itunes which i can open on my PC, however when i connect my ipad or iphone i get an error saying i cannot use the device as the require software isn't installed?? I'm very confused please help......
Let's try a standalone Apple Mobile Device Support install. It still might not install, but fingers crossed any error messages will give us a better idea of the underlying cause of why it's not installing under normal conditions.
Download and save a copy of the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64setup.exe) installer file to your hard drive:

Right-click the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64setup.exe), and select "Extract to iTunesSetup" (or "Extract to iTunes64Setup"). WinRAR will expand the contents of the file into a folder called "iTunesSetup" (or "iTunes64Setup").
Go into the folder and doubleclick the AppleMobileDeviceSupport.msi (or AppleMobileDeviceSupport64.msi) to do a standalone AMDS install.
(If it offers you the choice to remove or repair, choose "Remove", and if the uninstall goes through successfully, see if you can reinstall by doubleclicking the AppleMobileDeviceSupport.msi again.)
Does it install (or uninstall and then reinstall) properly for you? If so, can you get a normal iTunes install to go through properly now?

What can I do to get back to a point that I can directly purchase Apps from my itouch via wi-fi. I was able to before I purchased an app on my PC and loaded it into the device via the sync cable. My itouch 2G was bought 2nd hand, so when trying to get Apple support I was unable to register my device because I didn't know it's original purchase date. Note: I am still able to download the apps to my computer and load/sync them into the device.
