How are people on ebay and the web factory unlocking iPhones?

Hi,
Can someone please shed some light on how people are offering factory unlock services for any iphone on eBay and on the internet? It seems to cost roughly the same through most of them (£40-50 for Orange UK).
The reason for this question is that my brother does mobile phone repairs and unlocks, he has a device that will unlock Blackberry's and other phones, although he has never been able to find out how it works with the iphone. From my understanding the iphones IMEI has to be submitted to the Apple whitelist. If this is correct, how are these 3rd party companies doing this? Do they pay for access to the list or do they know somebody on the inside? I was of the opinion that only the official carrier could perform a factory unlock, obviously im wrong!

That was my thoughts exactly, but how would you explain this site then? www.megara1n.com It is not installing any software on the phone and upon reading the reviews for it, it is not a scam and seems to be using the Whitelist as it does not lose the unlock when updating. This is just one example, there is a guy using the same method on ebay with over 500 sales and 100% feedback. There must be another way they are doing it. There are scammers on ebay asking for people to send their phones in to them which im sure will either be jailbroken or never returned!
I am aware of the un-authorised methods of which you speak, jailbreak, gevey sim etc and I know that these methods used above are none of these.

I want to bring in text from Word (and the web) that is already hyperlinked into InDesign. How do I do it while keeping the links active?
Whenever I copy/paste from web or Word it removes the hyperlinks. And when I try to do it by "Place"ing a Word document into my InDesign project it keeps the formatting with it, the rectangles around the text.
I have the latest version of InDesign.
Any help is appreciated.

Copy-and-paste may not include formatting. A regular import using Place is the best way.
The rectangles around the hyperlinks are just to indicate they are links -- they do not print, but they do show up in your PDF.
You can remove them by double-clicking the hyperlink in the Hyperlinks panel and select "Invisible Rectangle" as type.
Typically, Word hyperlinks are formatted -- blue text, underline -- with a Character Style. If you want to remove or change the formatting, all you have to do is change the character style. My experience, though, is you must check all hyperlinks because for no apparent reason sometimes they appear in the document without the character style.

You will need the previous owner's Apple ID and Password to:
1. Turn off Find My iPhone
2. Erase device
3. Reactivate device

Check on the setting, as far s i know it was there by going on tools>options> privacy then check it out. If there was no changes, what i can suggest is try to update your firefox.

Just bougt a new small HP printer for my home office and discovered ePrint and apps support. And amazed, did not expect this technology in entry level small/home office type printers.
And immediately new questions on what possibilities this opens up for printing applications
What is required to create new apps?
Is it possible to use this technology to add local office apps? I.e. to print site/office specific forms, trivial network interactions and maybe a bit more.
Is subscription type apps supported/allowed, where the app is only available as part of a third party subscription package?
A lot can be built around the email based ePrint service alone, but having ability to also do some simple interaction with the user at the printer would open for a wide range of new possible uses.

How are people connecting Mainstage to their PA systems?

How are people connecting Mainstage to their PA systems? I'm running my electric guitar into my MBP with a 1/4 jack and an adapter and am coming out of the headphone jack into a DI box and then into the sound system. On some patches I'm getting a lot of noise/unintended distortion and our sound guy is unsure of what to do, ( tried adjusting gain to no effect). is their a better way to route things?

I don't know the presonus specifically - I have an RME and a Duet - but with an interface the advantages are; better converters = better sound, less latency (not 'no latency' but definitely a lot less),
better impedance (better plugs basically) for PAs, flexible outputs (stereo, multi channel, etc).
Realistically the little 1/8" ins and outs out on a computer are not very good, esp for real instruments, and there is tons of latency.
As to your question about Stereo mono and what to send the PA:
There's no real reason you can't send stereo (L+R, 1+2, whatever) to the house PA if you want. Depending on what level sound people you're dealing with some of them may not be open to running you stereo, esp if you play guitar and they are... let's say, set in their ways. They also may have limited a number of inputs. At higher level venues the PA rigs and sound people will do anything you want, do it really well and have a good time doing it.
To run mono;
1. In mainstage, put a gain plugin on the output channel and select 'mono' within the plugin.
2. Send one output (typically left for mono, but either is fine) of your presonus to the PA.
You can change from mono to stereo instantly with this setup (by selecting or unselecting mono within the gain plugin) to adjust for different situations.

I would like to precise more things regarding the network.
I did a case study for one customer and really to have good performances with SAP BPC client the network required the follow:
Bandwitdth 1024kb/s
Latency smaller than 200 ms between BPC client and BPC server
Otherwise the users will experience problems:
1. IBandwitdh < 1024Kb/s then to download 80 MB or more (templates + dimensions) will require a lot of time and that's means the login time will be very slow every time when a dimension is changed or security is process
2. When an report is executed (a medium report not very complex report) around 100 mesage are send between bpc client and server. So if latency > 200 ms than a simple calculation is saying just into network it will be lost 200 * 100 ms = 20 s.
So for a report which normally is taking 5 - 10 second it will take 30s or even more into client with latency bigger than 200 ms.

First thing is I want to complain about this person here:  I had some questions on a product and called up and got Charly 1-20295539207. He was horribly incompetent. He took 30 minutes just to, "get my information" which only consisted of just email and name. How can it take 30 minutes for that????? But trust me, Charlie absolutely makes it easy to waste that much time and still not get an answer to your question. So after he spent 30 minutes gathering my, "info" (i.e. name and email) he told me he could not help me and to call back even though I told him 3 times up-front what I was calling about. All of the Sony reps are the absolute worst and they all have the same idiosyncracies, making you repeat your issue over and over and over and over being one of them. Then, after you tell them what the issue is - 4-5 times, they say, "How can I help you"????????? WHAT???? I JUST TOLD YOU 4-5 TIMES AND THEN THEY ASK SOME OBNOXIOUS AGGRAVATING QUESTION LIKE THAT?   You have to be kidding me? I am not making any of this up. It's absolutely abusurd and criminal how the sony reps are. So I asked him, IF YOU COULDN'T HELP ME WHY DIDN'T YOU TELL ME THAT AT THE START AND WHY DID YOU WASTE 30 MINUTES OF MY TIME FOR NOTHING GATHERING, "ALL" OF MY INFO????? HE SAT THERE IN SILENCE AND SAID NOTHING. that is the other thing these aweful reps do. Thay all do it. They sit in silence and say nothing. THEN you have to ask them over and over and over again the same question and they never will give you an answer but will then say, "HOW MAY I HELP YOU"!!!!!! It's insane what they put customers through. It's like talking to low iq people. How do I remove hierarchies from the web version (11.1.1.2.103)?

I am hiding some hierarchies from end users in the client by setting their Limb and Leaf Access to None and having success. However, when I check the web (view only) version the hierarchies are still showing in the dropdown. How can I hide them on the web was well? Also, I would like to order the hierarchies in the dropdown but have been unable to determine how to do this as well. Any insight would be appreciated!

Double check on the NAG selected against the Web version, don't recall exactly, it's been a while I have seen the client based version.
With respect to ordering the Hierarchies, please assign a value (order number) for the hierarchy level property "Hierarchy Sort Order "against each hierarchy.
