How bad will this hurt?

I have been considering buying a RV for a while. My boys aren't getting any younger. We currently have our house on the market. It seems like it is going to take forever to sell. My question is how bad do you think it will hurt my credit if I were to take out a small loan for approx $10,000 for a RV? My credit scores on fico 8 are around 660-670. I know waiting until after we buy a house is probably the best idea, but it just doesn't seem like it's going to sell anytime soon and I am dying to go camping and enjoy the summer with my husband and two boys.

I have a "vintage" macbook OS X 10.6.8. I want to get all of my information to the Cloud. I must upgrade to Mountain Lion. I have heard I may loose all of my applications pre 2008. Can anyone help me with this? Most important is my contact list in Mail.

You don't need the Cloud to transfer your data. The first time you boot your new Mac it will boot into Setup Assistant, then prompt you to transfer the data, apps and settings from your old Mac. Do it then, after that it will create a new user and will be problematic.

  • How bad would it hurt my iMac after power went off while using?

I was using my iMac and then the house power went off. I still be able to turn it back on after the power came back. But I dont know how bad did it hurt my iMac after that? Anything to worry about?

You should check the file you were working on when the power went out. For example, if you were surfing the web, there is nothing to worry about. If you were creating a text document, odds are that it is fine, but it may have lost what you were typing in the moment. If you were in the middle of a time machine backup, then the backup may be corrupted, but Time Machine should be able to right itself - but it may take a long time to reindex.
If a large surge of current went through, you would likely notice severe symptoms, like the display going black or the iMac failing to boot up.
I used to use surge protectors, but now I use a backup power supply (which includes a surge protector). That way, if power goes out, I can continue working for 5 to 15 minutes, and the computer will do a normal shutdown if the power outage is longer.
I use the APC Backup UPS with 1300 xs1300va.

  • My iphone 4s is over 2 years old and I need to replace the battery. How much will this cost at an Apple store?

I have an iphone 4s that is  over 2 years old. The phone's battery is no longer able to hold a  charge for an acceptable length of time.  Assuming I need to replace the battery, how much will this cost at an Apple store?

Basically, I'm new to Apple, despite using them before, but I've never actually owned my own.
Since buying this phone off a colleague at work, I seem to be having problems with it. First, I noticed how rubbish the battery life is, then my charger almost went up in flames and thirdly my camera lense is scratched beyond belief.
I know the phone isn't within warranty, although I was lead to believe it was before and during buying it, so basically I'm extremely disappointed with the general make up of iPhone's considering they cost such a **** of a lot of money, you'd think they'd be built to last.
Back to my main point, how much would it cost for a new battery? Or a new camera lense if anyone can help me with that? (I know that the back of the phone was refurbished just before my buying it, so literally just the camera lense)
    Thanks!
So basically it sounds like you bought an abused used iPhone and somehow that makes the phone subpar because dispite the abuse it should still last forever and look like new? Batteries don't last forever, even under ideal conditions, so your expectatoins are unrealistic. Take it in and have an estimate done.

My screen has a crack in it. How much will this cost to repair?

Sorry to hear that. The price differs based on the model. I would call Apple 1-800-MY-APPLE (1-800-692-7753). It could range from $300-$600. I hope this answered your question.

  • Downloading ML over 80 min's......how long will this go on???  MBP early 2011 running 10.7.3

downloading ML over 80 min's......how long will this go on???  MBP early 2011 running 10.7.3

I have a late 2009 MBP and I have noticed that just surfing the internet has caused the machine to run 20-30 degrees hotter. It used to hover around 40C (according to iStat...obviously it would climb under a load) when I was bumming around the net (no videos) and now it is anywhere between 60-70C doing the same stuff. I didn't really notice it till the other day when all I was doing was working on some bash scripts so at that point it was under very little load and it just seemed quite warm.

  • So how bad is this?

So today, for the first time in as long as I've owned my 2.0 GHz iMac G5, it just randomly shut down on me. I thought it was a one time thing, a power surge or something maybe, so I started it back up and went about my business. Then a few hours later, it happened again. And about 20 mins after that, again. By this point I knew something was up, so I backed up a couple vital files real quick, shut it down, and cracked it open.
    This is what I saw:
    http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v12/newtikki/DSC00185.jpg
So, I figured it was overheating because of the symptoms, but that looks really bad. When I closed it back up, I felt the slit in the back and couldnt feel any air coming out the half that the CPU feeds to, however, the other half (which i presume is pumped from the video card) was pumping warm air. So, how can I resolve this? I bought it in probably June of last year, so I don't have any warranty remaining. How much is this going to cost me?
    Thanks,
    Michael
    iMac G5   Mac OS X (10.4.6)

    Hi Michael,
My bet is actually that your primary problem is that the power supply is failing, and that your fans just might be running poorly because of dirt buildup or lower power.
Your Mac will cut out before heat doess any damage to the processor.
There are three fans - one for the Hd, one for the processor , and one for the "system" generally. The HD fan is really the one that does the most work usually. Its "base" setting is at 2300 RPM, while the CPU one sits down around only 1500 when its not doing a lot of work. Its only under load that it kciks up higher, and even then it will rarely be running as fast as the HD fan.
So you can almost always expect to feel a bit more breeze from the HD side than the processor side of the slot.
The general system fan usually sits on about 1700 rpm until things really start to heat up.
    Cheers
    Rod

  • Just how bad is this phone ? (E70 revisited)

I have actually forgotten how frustrating Nokia phones can be as I had confirmed by (then) new E70 to the bottom drawer because with the firrmware on it, it wouldn't work in my bluetooth enabled BMer.
What joy when I learned of the new version. Could it be that version 3.0633.09.04 (where do these numbers come from) would solve my problem ?
Well I don't know. In fact I don't even know why I tried to put it on the phone. First I downloaded the latest PC Suite (the phone I have which actually works is NOT a Nokia, so I didn't have that on the PC ). Then I downloaded the software updater. Then I connected by recharged (and still plugged into the adaptor) E70, and fired up the updater.
Next the USB message that my phone was disconnected from PC-Suite appeared, and as predicted the updater actually told me there was an update. I now had the option to leave or continue. When I continued, I got a message which told me the updater could not verify my phone !
No WAIT !! I got past this by restarting, and while the message to get out was still on the screen, I used the utility in PCSuite to reselect my phone, and when the updater continued it started the download of 48.1M. Great.
Next it came to the update bit. Again the process failed and again the solution was to do the little tinker with PC Suite to get past that point. In fact I got all the way to where the phone reboots, and shows the Nokia test screen. Here the phone seems to reconnect itself, but either its not fast enough or it's not connecting to the updater, because it reports that the update has failed. Sad but true.
Should I have known ? Should I have guessed ? I have a buddy who has had an E61, an E70 and now wants to try the E90. Is he crazy or what ? S60 does for telephony what Locusts do for corn. If only words would describe how bad this series of phones really is...
For those of you still here, who are in the queues for the E90, I admire your sense of endevour ! May the force be with you.

    You'd think... Eh!
What I found was that at various stages during the upgrade the NSU disconnects from the phone (which allows PC-Suite reconnect). When the NSU needs to reconnect, PC-Suite was holding onto the connection (because, I think, NSU only disconnects it once at the beginning... )

  • Will this hurt my HDD ?

    Greetings,
Long time follower, 1st time poster here.
So, I'm working from home and part of that work is to continuously download large files to my HDD, process the data, upload the processed files, then deleting files from my HDD.
My question is: will this continuous downloading/deleting of large amounts of data wear out my HDD before its time ?
    TIA for any thoughts.

There are just so many variables that have an impact on an answer to your question. And remember when you delete data from your hard drive, you're not really deleting it, you're deleting the info on the drive that tells the computer where the data is located. The only exception to that is when you do a secure delete. Heat has deleterious effects on hard drives, so if the fan fails on your MBP, you can be reducing the life.
Modern hard drives are pretty robust. What you're doing isn't really stressful. A RAID drive in a server is running 24/7 with lots of data. Even then, the average failure rate is very low.
So, your drive will last anywhere from a few minutes to 100 years. What you're doing has no impact on the failure rate, because it's not all that stressful.
BTW, I use a 1.5TB external hard drive to backup my computer along with my iTunes collection (around 750GB) using Time Machine. That drive runs every hour doing backups. That drive is over 18 months old, no issues.
    Don't worry about it.

  • How Much WIll This Cost Me?

I currently have the cheapest individual iPhone plan using a first generation iPhone. This is the only thing I have with AT&T. The rest of the family is with T-Mobile.
Here's what I want to do: Cancel all the T-Mobile accounts (they're out of contract). Keep my current iphone, buy the new 3G iphone for my wife, get 2 free, cheap, non-iphone for my 2 daughters. That will make it 4 phones with AT&T (2 iphones, 2 regular phones).
Can I keep all 4 phones in a cheapest family plan, with unlimited data on the iphones (voice only for the non-iphones)? How much will the monthly bill for this (assuming we don't go over the alloted minutes)?
    Thanks.

Well AT&T hasn't released their official plans for the new iphone 3G, but I assume it would be:
$79.99ish for the family plan [with 2 other lines]
$30 Data plan for the iPhone 3G
$20 Data plan for original iPhone
This is without texting, and a rough estimate, I don't know exact numbers, and we probably wont until we get very close to July 11th or we may not know specifics till you get the 3G.
    I hope this helps...

  • I want to replace my iPhone 5c for a new one . How much will this cost ? I have my one year warranty but no apple care .

My iphone keeps discharging quickly and it takes long to charge . in 8'hours my phone will charge from 0 to 37% . I went to the apple store and they keep asking me to restore my phone which I did . Now I just want to replace my phone for another . How much will it cost ?

Warranty and Support are only valid in the country of origin.  You will need to take the device to whatever country it originally came from.
Apple will not accept shipments from outside the country nor will they return it to an address outside the country.

  • I rented a movie from the iTunes app....how long will this movie stay on my iPad?

I have had my iPad for a couple of years but just now rented a movie for a flight I will be on....how long will the movie stay on my iPad....can you watch it more than once?  Also any awesome games out there to download that will not take wifi or data to play them?   Thanks!

The unwatched rental will stay on the device for 30 days. If you are in the U.S. once you start watching the movie you have 24 hours to watch it as many times as you like, and you have 48 hours in other countries. Bear in mind that if you even start the movies for just two or three seconds and stop it, that starts the timer for the 24 hour or 48 hour time period, so don't start that timers until you are ready to watch the movie.
I'm not a real big gamer anymore , so I can't help you there.

  • How long will this MacBook Pro last me?

I recently have received a mid-2009 macbook pro as a gift. I have upgraded the software to Mountain Lion (and most likely going to upgrade to Mavericks whenever it comes out). I am going to become a high school senior in the upcoming months. I was wondering how long this laptop would last me! I like gaming, but the graphics aren't that good even on low quality, but I'm sure this laptop will be fine for my last year of high school and til the end of college prehaps?
    Thanks,
    Christopher!
    Edit:
I understand there isn't just a breakdown date or timer, but I am just asking for a guess from the community! Sorry for the confusion if there was any.
    Thank you!

Your machine is about 4 years old and in it's end of life stage for a laptop.
It al depends how much abuse the previous owner did to it, how much wear on the keyboard/Superdrive and on the graphics etc.
I'd say another year or two and it's done.
The reason gaming is bad it's because they are designed for PC towers and the latest graphics which a laptop you can't upgrade.
Also the many OS X operating system versions also has a part as later OS X versions slow down older machines.
If you want to 3D game, then get a PS4 or a Windows 7/8 3D gaming tower and upgrade the video card every couple of years to a better one.
That's the only way, Mac's can't upgrade the video card anymore and new 3D games need better graphics.
The only way one can keep a Mac a very long time is to take exceeding great care of it, all the wear and tear on external devices, then there is a limit to upgrading operating systems and Apple will begin denying security updates as well.
    Good luck
