How bad would it hurt my iMac after power went off while using?

I was using my iMac and then the house power went off. I still be able to turn it back on after the power came back. But I dont know how bad did it hurt my iMac after that? Anything to worry about?

You should check the file you were working on when the power went out. For example, if you were surfing the web, there is nothing to worry about. If you were creating a text document, odds are that it is fine, but it may have lost what you were typing in the moment. If you were in the middle of a time machine backup, then the backup may be corrupted, but Time Machine should be able to right itself - but it may take a long time to reindex.
If a large surge of current went through, you would likely notice severe symptoms, like the display going black or the iMac failing to boot up.
I used to use surge protectors, but now I use a backup power supply (which includes a surge protector). That way, if power goes out, I can continue working for 5 to 15 minutes, and the computer will do a normal shutdown if the power outage is longer.
I use the APC Backup UPS with 1300 xs1300va.

How do I set up my Imac after adding a SSD along with my existing HD

How do I set up my Imac after adding a SSD so that my system and apps are on the SSD and everything else is on the HD? I am using mountain Lion. I want to make sure I can still do Time Machine backups.
I was planning on first formatting the SSD and then using Migration Assistant to copy the System and the Library and the Apps over. Where it gets confusing is the User account where some of the items will be on the SSD but I want all my folders to be on the HD. Do I just not copy over that other stuff and once I restart from the SSD it will know where all the folders are? Is there anything I need to know about setting up a time machine backup after that? Will the backup I had from the one drive have to be erased and start a whole new backup?
I just want to do this right so I don't have some major problems.

time machine backed up your whole system data/everything in time machine hdd.
you want to use ssd over hdd so you need to put new mac os x in ssd.
then copy all the stuff that you want to put in ssd.
from my point of view put the mac os x and other application in ssd and leave other data in hdd.(music,movies,etc....)

Just disabling firewire at the system settings not physically shuts off power to the firewire port. And since you feel by yourself facing a hardware defect, I would recommend taking the computer to a repair center.
Maybe they are able (I'm absolutely not sure about, but sometimes hope dies at last to remove an internal cable and so shut down the firewire ports without replacing any expensive parts.

Since I installed nvidias new drivers 178.24, after effects instantly crashes while using opengl. Anyone else experienced this?
I have Geforce 8600 GT.
As a minor note, I had major problems with the new quicktime 7.5.5 update, both After effects and Premiere got problems with interpreting footage and frames here and there got the "missing frame" look. I also got more problems so I uninstalled it instantly. Is there a major problem with the update or a major problem with me?

Sorry not to give more info on the Quicktime problem, I don't remember exactly what more problems there where as we have had extremely much to do these last couple of weeks and I just freaked out and uninstalled it as soon as the problems emerged. I do remember the frame issue however, it was very clear, i imported an image sequence in premiere and everything worked fine, then i updated and frames were suddenly dropped, then i uninstalled and installed 7.5 again and it worked just fine. I also tried to flush the cache, restart and generally search for the source of the problem for a couple of hours.

The original iPad has a slow processor and only 256 MB of memory so it often runs into low-memory failures.
Double click the home button and dismiss all of the recents - I do that weekly.
Then reboot by holding both the power and home buttons until the apple logo appears, ignore the red slider - I also do that weekly.
Both seem to help to reduce the low-memory faults that occur.

I have been considering buying a RV for a while. My boys aren't getting any younger. We currently have our house on the market. It seems like it is going to take forever to sell. My question is how bad do you think it will hurt my credit if I were to take out a small loan for approx $10,000 for a RV? My credit scores on fico 8 are around 660-670. I know waiting until after we buy a house is probably the best idea, but it just doesn't seem like it's going to sell anytime soon and I am dying to go camping and enjoy the summer with my husband and two boys.

I have been reading a lot about personal finance and the rule seems to be borrow only for necessities, pay cash for luxuries. Just something to think about. Your boys won't be boys forever, but the important part is that you spend time with them. They don't need an RV to enjoy their parents. You could also rent a lot of nights in a nice cabin for less than 10K if you don't like sharing your bedroom space with bugs and bears.

Had same problem, got answer from supprot community and it worked.
Hold down your power bar (on top) and your Home button (on face at bottom) for about 10 - 20 sec. and your phone will be restored - nothing lost or changed. Worked like a charm for me 20 sec ago.

If you click on....
Blue Apple ( top left of your screen there ) > System Preferences > Accounts > Log in items.
Is preview highlighted there?
If it is, you can " de-select " it from the list. That should cure the problem for you. I hope it does.

You don't need the Cloud to transfer your data. The first time you boot your new Mac it will boot into Setup Assistant, then prompt you to transfer the data, apps and settings from your old Mac. Do it then, after that it will create a new user and will be problematic.
Check the compatibility of your third party software here.

Hi, please can anyoner help. I had a power cut at home and went to switch the imac back on and all i can get is a grey screen, a chime and a circle going around but no blue screen when I start up .I have tried pressing the power button for ten seconds with it switched off .Tried installing back up discs and after about an hour it comes up with an error that caused installation to fail and to contact the software manufacturer, tried again and the same happened.
