How big does an image/project need to be in order to project it onto a screen without it becoming blurry?

I am creating a project that will be projected onto a large screen, and I want to be sure it doesn't come up blurry. What size/settings are best for a project like this?

There are so many variables involved:
Quality of the projector
Capacity to adjust light level, image contrast and color balance
Distance from projector the screen
Degree of magnification
Distance from audience to screen
Ambient room light
….just to name a few that it would be prudent to run some tests. There is no one-size-fits-all calculation that can be considered adequate.

  • How often does your CF instance need to restart?

I'm considering CF as an application solution for a critical
department..and not having much experience with it , was wondering
how often does the CF service need to be restarted ? hourly, daily,
    weekly, monthly?????
i've had experiences with other app servers that at times
could be quite annoying...and would like to get some real world
    input on the issue.
    Many thanks..

It definitely depends on how you code and set up the site.
I've worked at a few places where the only time we restarted the CF
servers (or services) were when we actually switched servers. Other
places we had scheduled maintenance windows and did the restarts
then, sometimes they were needed while other times it was just for
    the sake of doing it.
You should also take into consideration the OS reboots, for
Win2k3 or 2k8 you'll sometimes need to install critical patches
which need to restart to take effect. I don't know about UNIX or
    Solaris and the others.

  • How can I scale an image without it becoming blurry?

I'm following this tutorial on youtube and I'm doing everything he says, but when I scale the image it becomes blurry on mine and his was still perfect.

Rick is correct, but there are some features that can give better results than the default scaling:
    http://helpx.adobe.com/after-effects/using/detail-preserving-upscale-effect.html
    http://blogs.adobe.com/aftereffects/2013/06/bicubic-resampling-for-improved-scaling-and-ot her-transformations-in-after-effects.html
By the way, it helps if you give a lot more information when asking a question. We have no idea what you've tried so far, and we don't even know what version of After Effects you're using.

How do I export one of my albums in iphoto in the same order that it appears onto a flash drive or dvd?

Remember that the FInder does not have the same sorting options that iPhoto has - no manual sorting for instance. So
File -> Export and in the resulting dialogue note the options for Naming Files
Album Name with Number will give you what you want.

  • How Big a Backup Drive is Needed for a 500 GB Internal drive?

I just bought a MacBook Pro (15 inch, mid 2012) with a stock 500 GB internal hard drive. I want to buy a USB 3.0 external drive for a Time Machine backup drive.
Bearing in mind that I don't keep photos or any significant quantities of big visual media (movies, etc.) on my Macs, it will take several years to even fill my internal drive halfway.
How large an external drive do I need for a backup? One vendor has suggested 1 TB, but I wanted to check with the community before purchasing.

  • How to search which image is not in any albums within a project?

I've created several albums under a project and I would like to see if there's any images that is not being placed in any album yet. I can see there's a 'do not match' option in the search box but I am not sure use it.
    Many thanks.

    What I would do is to give all images in the albums a unique keyword and then set up a filter that;
    1. Match
    2. Keywords > "do not include any of the following" (and then check the keyword given to all the images inside the albums).
Aperture will then return all the images that does not match that particular keyword.
To have full control of these all the time, I would set the filter up in a Smart Album always showing me those images not part of other albums.
    Regards

  • How long does it take for points from a canceled order to be returned?

I used a My Best Buy certificate on an order, but decided to cancel it. How long will it take for the points to show back up?

    Good morning DesertLynx83,
I hope that you are enjoying your Tuesday so far.
As you may read in similar threads on the forum, it can usually take between 3 and 6 business days for a certificates point value to repost to a member's account following a return or cancellation.  Please do not hesitate to send me a private message if the point value for the certificate you redeemed does not repost to your account after 6 business days and I will see what I can do to ensure those points are added.  To send a private message, you will want to login to the forum and click on the blue button in my signature labeled "Private Message."

  • Why does an image in Preview disappear when I move the window from my laptop screen to my external monitor?

I have an external 23" Cinema display connected to my MacBook Pro. When I open a file in Preview, moving it from either screen that it was originally on (laptop>LCD or LCD>laptop), the image disappears or "blanks". Only zooming in on the image will re-display it. Any ideas?

    Still investigating this problem.

  • How well does labVIEW optimize itself to run on dual processors? (would be dual Xeon cpus without hyperthreading)

I am looking to get a new computer to run my labVIEW app. It is a processor intensive data analysis / simulation program. I am curious as to how well labVIEW optimizes its code to run on dual processor machines? Will I have to add some thread control code
    to get the full benefit?

    Hallo,
Normally just splitting your code into two parallel-executed loops would be enough for optimization for dual processor. If you have already available dual-processor computer, then try to make simple experiment: Put on your block diagram while-loop (without delay), then run it and looking for CPU usage. You will see, that only one processor occupied with 100% and second not (average CPU usage is 50%). Now put second while-loop (also without delay). Now both processors are busy with 100% (but both loops executed with approximately same speed). In most cases "two-loops" splitting of your analysing algorithm will be enough for increasing performance (not twice, of course, but significally).

  • OCR images without text becoming blurry by default

    Newbie question here.
    Personally..  I don't care about the PDF-filesizes.
I'd like ALL my PDF files to be in the highest possible quality, by default.
No matter whether they involve converted Office documents or JPG-files.
Must confess, I am a bit overwhelmed by the number of settings and am unsure :
    - which ones can be set as default
    - which ones should be set at each new task
    - how to reset Acrobat to its defaults.
I know, it is slightly off-topic as far as "Scanning & OCR" is concerned.
I am posting here because I have this problem of images (screencaptures containing text) are getting blurry
    once OCR is being performed.
Based on another post here I now know that I should use 'Searchable Image (Exact)" at the OCR settings.
This made me asking here what best (highest quality) settings I should use when converting other type of documents to PDF.
e.g. noticed a number of settings when converting to PDF

Use High Quality Print or Press Quality here?
at High Quality / Press Quality - > Edit -> Images I noticed downsampling, should I set this 'Off'

    Hi,
Unless you use Acrobat 8 Pro's Formatted Text & Graphics" or Acrobat 9 Pro's ClearScan you will find that there is no
practicable means of editing the OCR "hidden text" in a PDF.
The TouchUp text tool (Advanced Editing toolbar) is reliant upon the selected text having an available system font to use during touchup. However, both Searchable Image and Searchable Image (Exact)  OCR output is of text rendering mode 3 (invisible text) that is provided from within Acrobat and not any installed system or other application installed font.
With Searchable Image (Exact) you have the untouched image augmented by the invisible text which is provided as a user aid for search or find with Adobe Reader or Acrobat. The invisible text is not intended to support word processor like editing.
    To your questions:
#1. There is no practicable way to edit invisible text (text rendering mode 3) with Acrobat (any past or current release).
    #2. None.
#3. A good question. Perhaps a specialty program. Keep in mind, many products provide a promise but those those that actually deliver tend to be expensive.
Something to play with. Using Acrobat 9 Pro or Pro Extended, try the Preflight Fixup to embed hidden text.
Then try using the TouchUp Text tool. You may also want to see if you can change the font type of this newly embedded font.
(use copies of the "real" files - just in case <g>).
    Be well...

  • How long does it usually take to backup Adobe Premier projects?

When you go into the Project Manager and back up the project, so that Premiere copies every file involved to a portable hard drive, along with the project file, so the project can be opened and edited on a different computer, how long does it take?
I am currently backing up a project with over eight hours of footage in the work area so that I can continue working on it from another computer, and the backup does not seem to be progressing. I do not typically backup projects like this, I usually only save a new version of the project file, so I have no idea what to expect, and it seems to be taking a while.

Usually till it is finished, give or take a few minutes.
The question resembles: "How long does it usually take to travel from A to B?"
The answer is: It depends. It depends on traffic jams on the route (what are the specs of your system), the transportation means (what kind of portable hard disk and the interface), the amount of luggage taken along (how much source material and what codec), does one take a rest while en route or stop for gas (what background processes are running), etc.

  • External backup drive - how big?

Is there a way of calculating how big a backup drive I need for my Time Machine backups?
My current one is now full and is deleting old backups.
My iMac is using only 500,000 GB out of an available 3T hard drive. (I know - it's a lot of hard drive but when I had the old drive replaced, that's what I got.)
    Anyway, should I buy a 2T external or a 3?

2TB is about the biggest of the portable drives..
There are good ones from Toshiba.. and WD passport also work well for most.
Sadly there is always bad batches.. drives seem to often have a bad reputation when it just happens to be one drive..
Buy one and see how it goes.. you don't really have much choice.. but I would also ensure you backup to a different brand.. at least if they both die they tend to die on different days. Flawed drives tend to go all at the same time.. I have had NAS setups where 3 drives died within a week of each other. And replacement drives I bought for a business.. all died 12months later within a few days of each other.. So I learned my lesson.. buy different ones.. and never be without current backups.. preferably several of them.
