How big a Hard drive can my macbook take

2 GHz Intel core 2 Duo , 80GB hard drive ,1GB ram ,late 2006.
i want to upgrade my hard drive , i want to go as big as possible on my macbook. At the apple support site ,its said this macbook can only take up to 200GB , is that true ? because i have read of people who have went bigger.
What speed do i select? , i think the highest on a 200GB is 5400rpm , but wont that cause overheating ? should i settle a slower hard drive ?

This is not true. Sometimes the size limits mentioned are what Apple was offering as an upgrade. Currently the largest drive for the newest MacBook offered is a 250 GB drive. This doesn't mean thats the biggest you can get that just is what Apple offers.

I know this doesn't help you much, but, I think you have to see if your Mac pro does audio out via HDMI. I don't even know if mine does via DVI. I think it may have to do with the adapter. Try going into Audio MIDI and setting the digital out to multichannel
and using the toslink cable for now. Lemme see...apparently DVI does not carry audio at all. Hm. apparently monoprice could be helpful? If I understand what you're saying correctly: you want to take DVI and multichannel audio via the Toslink and have it all go out over HDMI, right? I wanted to now how big of a hard drive can i use in my gigabit ethernet g4 powerpc with a dual 500 processor . at the present time i have one 80 and one 20 gig drive in there now.
So my answer is how big of a drive can i use before i have problems with seting it up. Like i want to use a 500 gig drive in my computer and my old 80 gig too. i want to buy a apple tv and store my dvds on the big 500 hardrive so i have alot of room for the vidio files, for apple t.v . If i can use one as big as one terabite you now the real big one that would be fine. The more room i have the better for me. I will be able to watch the movies i downloaded from the internet and i wont have to burn them at all.
This is of corse if apple tv will handle it.

If you need that much storage, and you'll have to buy a controller anyhow, get a SATA controller card, and put one or two 500gb SATA drives in. How big of a file can I receive?

Not sure if there is an error or if the file is too big. My other email provider will allow an email with several pictures attached to be received. When I forwarded it - it failed. Then when the sender sent it to my verizon account it failed as well. We just got our FIOS connnected. SO, is there a limit as to how big of a file can be received by Verizon FIOS?

First, you have to investigate what's the max size your and your recipient's mail providers permit. In many cases, that is the main limiting factor. Next, you need to configure the mail program you use to avoid auto-zip'ing the attachments.

Regardless of how you embed the file in your iWeb page have you tried reducing the file size. One mtehod is to open it in QT Player 7 and use the File ➙ Export for Web and use the Desktop setting:

Unless it is a Unibody Macbook, you must deal with the 9.5mm height restriction. Try to get a hard drive with a 3 year warranty if you can. Also if the machine is pre-2009, make sure the drive is compatible with SATA-I at 1.5 Gbps data transfer. If it is 2009, there might be a firmware to install before it can use a faster drive. 2010 and later usually need no firmware update.

You should be able to use a DisplayPort(u2312hm) to Mini DisplayPort(Mac) cable which would avoid any adapters. I'm not aware of any issues with this method, but I have not tried it yet. My u2312hm is scheduled to arrive on Friday.

How big a hard drive can I put in my mac

Hello everyone,
Inspired from succefully putting a new DVD-RAM burner in my iMac G4 800Mhz (thanks to this forum for helping me get the jumper switch setting right) I have now ordered a 250GB hard drive with the plan to open up my blob again and exchange the hard drive.
However, I have heard that the computer might not recognise a HD this big and that 128GB might be the maximum. Can anyone confirm/deny/agree anything on this? I am running on 10.3.9.
Also (while I'm here asking questions) can you tell me something else. If I put in the new hard drive, boot up with my OS 10.3.9 discs and instal the OS will that all then work and be fine? I have a new external case for the old HD so after the instal I plan to transfer my photos and music across to the new HD.

imac G4 flat screen 800Mhz Mac OS X (10.3.9)

I have a machine like yours 800mhz G4 iMac and I installed a Seagate Barracuda 7200rpm 250gb disk - much noiser than the Maxtor I took out but Seagate is one of the most reliable right now. I think you can put in any ATA100 disk, remember to set the jumpers on the new drive exactly the same as the one you're taking out (mine was master with DVD as slave but sometimes its the other way round).
I also installed a Pioneer DVR110 (now with firmware version 1.37 Region Free), and a 512mb stick of ram internally & 512mb sodimm on the base whilst I was at it.
My machine is just over 3 years old and i noticed that the heat conductive grease on the CPU had dried out so I removed the heatsink and carefully scraped of the dried stuff and reapplied a thin film of new silver based grease.
Don't forget to re-grease the other parts of the imac chasis to allow dissipation of heat.
