How burn a boot-up disk with  updated OSX 10.6.4?

Mac Book Pro was purchased with OSX 10.6 . The manufacturer’s disk that comes with Mac has OSX 10.6 too.
Later I did install some updates from Apple. Now it is version OSX 10.6.4.
The question :
How burn a boot-up disk with this updated OSX 10.6.4. which can be used for boot-ups instead of the manufacturer’s disk with the older 10.6 OSX.?

Thanks guys -I begin to get the picture...
Being a newbie I just need to ask you for some more info:
_Re “They kindly sent me an OEM 10.5.6 DVD (White DVD with Apple logo on it”_
My question: What is OEM dvd and can I make request for such a dvd over the internet?
Re “If you have a 16 GB flash drive you can install an emergency copy of OS X, _upgrade to your current version_, install some repair utilities, etc. and use it for an emergency boot disk.”
My question: I already have such an emergency copy on 16 Gb flash drive, so, how I upgrade it to my current version? Can it be done by getting on on internet and run software update as I did with OS installed on my Hard Drive?
Thanks in advance for your replies!

  • Can a boot OS disk be updated?

I have a USB Yosemite boot disk, 10.10.1. Prepared with Diskmaker x 4B4. When updates e.g 10.10.2, are available can they be used to update 10.10.1? If so, how? Or am I stuck with the 10.10.1 version downloaded, where one would boot from it, then update? If booted thus, would it wipe data? That is to say a new installation? Apologies if my query is unclear or confused.
    Tks

The ideal setup even for Mac but also Windows goes something like this - and I prefer mid size tower - with Thunderbolt or an SATA external port:
128-240GB SSD to hold just the OS and applications
Data drive: can be anything you need, from 2nd SSD to 2TB to a collection of 4x2TB in an array for editing and 8TB of fast storage
Backup drive. Windows 8 File History is there in the background saving file history changes, room for system images
    TimeMachine drive.
I like having system images. No matter what OS. CampTune helps there. They have OS X Rescue or there is Carbon Copy Cloner to maintain and keep a bootable copy of OS X and Recovery partition. Also save the OS X installer ESD package and don't let it get wiped and deleted for future use to avoid redownload delays etc. Even if you have 150GB monthly cap (5GB a day) which are becoming more common as users also move up to FIOS.
You can never have too many backups, and they are only as good as practice sessions to use and walk through how - disasters are always different than what you expect. Fire drills still help.
Most people with a question like yours went and made Windows so tiny that it cannot function and lacks space. And then there are those that just need a larger hard drive if they hope to do anything (even too small for what they have now).

  • How to Continue Creating Recovery Disks after Updating Window 8.0 to 8.1

My laptop is hp 2000-2d62nr notebook pc (energy star) S/N: 5CG342027W
I might mess up the HP Recover Manager as follow:
I was attempting to create the recovery disks for the HP Window 8.0 laptop. HP Recovery Manager needed 5 disks. After 2 disks made done, I left my laptop for two hours. Then I returned to my laptop and saw Window to ask me to update Window 8.1.  And I updated it to Window 8.1.
After Window 8.1 update done, the system had been restarted. When returning to HP Recovery manager, it asked me to continue the third recovery disks. I selected "Continue". However, Disk 3 verified failed at 15%, the pop up window asked me to use another disk and try again. I attempted second times by restart my laptop. again, Disk 3 verified failed at 2%,
How do I clean this mess and make a 2nd set of recovery disks?
    Thank you for your suggestions.

I called the above phone number. Tech Support told me to charge $40.00 for recovery disks. I complained this and they transfered me to 877-917-4380 to talk with Case Manager. He agreed sending the recovery disks with no charge

  • How burn data CD or DVD with documents/songs not in iTunes Library?

How do I burn data CD/DVD with items not located in iTunes Library? Prior to the update to iTunes 8.0.2, I could burn Data CDs/DVD from my desktop - these were documents files, and audiobooks/songs not located in iTunes Library. Now I can't get the burn preferences window to show up. Something has changed in the iTunes 8.0.2 update which keeps me from burning anything that is not in iTunes library. Please advise. Thank you.

    Dear Zevoneer,
As a test, I created a New Burn Folder on the desktop, transferred aliases for music and documents not in iTunes Library, totaling about 2.5GB. I burned all on to a 4.7 GB DVD-R. Everything burned properly and quickly as usual. And each item is an accurate replica of my files.
Perhaps I was wrong in thinking that a few months ago when I burned non-iTunes Library items, I always got a Burn Preferences Window on my desktop. No matter, it all went well. And I also learned that we now burn songs in iTunes only via the playlist window, where "Burn" brings on the Burn preferences choices.
    Thank you for your help.

  • How do I open iWork files with updated OS

I updated to Maverick which also updated iWork.  Now I get the notice that I need the latest version of Pages or Numbers when I try to open files.  This happens with old files as well as files created in the latest version of iWork.  How do I correct this problem?

Like you, I downloaded the new versions at the same time.  I just checked the version of Numbers and it said v 2.3.  When I go to Software Updates, it states I  installed v 3.0.  When I right click on a file, it shows v 3.0 as the default and I can open the file.  When I try to open Recent Files I don't have that option.  There appears to be a disconnect somewhere.

  • How to Keep Content Types Current with Updated Data

Let’s say that I have four content types—content type 1, content type 2, content type 3, and content type 4—all based on the same list, say list A.
Each content type has its own workflow.
When the workflow for content type 1 is completed, the data is saved to an individual item, say item Z, in a separate list, list B.
When the workflow for content type 2 is completed, the data is saved to the same item (item Z) in list B. The reason that there are two lists is that the creation of content types causes new items to be created, but the each
new item must reference data from the previous item. That means that data has to be copied from the first item to the second item. But what happens to the data in the second item when data from the first item is changed? The solution is to have a single item
in another list to which all content types write their data.
What I need to know is how can all the content types retrieve data from list B when those content types are based on list A? For example, let's say that content type 3 uses data originally input through content type 1. As the
user inputs and saves data through content type 3 he sees data that had been originally input through content type 1. Another user then accesses content type 1 to update and save data through it. When content type 3 is opened again that user will not see the
updated data entered through content type 1 because it is tied to a different item. The solution seems to be for all content types to save their data to the same item in another list. But then how can those content types be designed so that when they open
they show updated data from List B when those content types are based on List A?
Other applications have the notion of a folder containing all the up-to-date data fields. Another way to look at this problem is to state what SharePoint 2007 does to mimic the notion of a folder.

Thanks for responding, but I don't think that the solution provided solves my problem. What you described will keep the item in List B in sync with the changes made to List A. However, the content types from List A will not be in sync when they are opened
from List A. Say content type 1 makes changes to various fields. When content type 3 opens it displays some of the fields that content type 1 changed; however, content type 3 and content type 1 by definition display different items--and those items are not
in sync. Either I have to copy the updated item from List B back to the related items in List A or there has to be another solution.
Is it possible to have a workflow update all the items in a list based on a key field whenever changes are made to that item. Say content types 1, 2, 3, and 4 already exist and each refers to a different item in List A, but they are "tied" together
by a key field. When content type 1 is reopened and changes are made, is it possible to iterate over the items in a list to find other items whose key field matches the key field from content type 1? If so, then when matching items are found the fields in
them can be updated by the same changes made to content type 1.
If this latter scenario is possible, how is that iteration set up in a SharePoint 2007 workflow? Thanks again.

  • Data Recovery Tip For Boot Camp Users with Damaged OSX Disk

My iMac suddenly stopped booting (endless gear on white load screen).
It won't target mode. Disk Repair fails. It wont safe boot.
However, it does have a Windows Boot Camp partition.
I was able to use HFSExplorer (a free 3rd party app) to mount my OSX drive inside windows (when it wouldn't mount on my macbook connected by firewire - even though it could see the device). I then saved a load of data I hadn't yet backed up.
This method saved me a lot of stress, so I was hoping it could help someone else out.
BTW I'm about to do a fresh install of OSX as I can't get it to boot.
    1. This will not affect my (still functioning) Windows partition, will it?
    2. Is there anything else I can try to get it to boot right? There's 3-4 "red" errors on disk repair and it says it can't fix them.

If you are able to access the Mac OS X volume then you should be able to install a fresh Leopard. First I would erase the volume and zero out the data if Disk Utility will do it before the install. What I am afraid will happen is that DU will tell you that it cannot unmount the volume to do the erase. If so, a new version of Leopard may still have issues.

  • T410: How to dual boot Win 7 with Ubuntu?

I would like to keep my original win 7 config, but to add the option to dual boot into ubuntu 10.10 as my primary OS. Anyone had experience on how to go about doing this?
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Ok, if this is what your asking; I have Win7 and I use the fingerprint reader to log into windows. I installed ubuntu using those steps listed above and it does the partition itself safely. And the fingerprint reader still works for windows. No issues. Just make sure (looking at picture 3 and 4) that you select install alongside others OS's, on picture 4 you can see a slider bar. The first section will show you your windows partition, the 2nd part is what you can move to choose how much space you want ubuntu to partition for itself. So no need to partition it your self.

  • How-To Delete Boot Camp Partition with Parallels Configure to Access It

    Hi Everyone,
I would like to delete my boot camp partition from my MB to reclaim some space due to the increasing storage demand from iTunes library? (I need to find out what can I do when the library is getting larger than my HD too, but that's another topic...)
I also have Parellels Desktop configure to access the boot camp partition instead of creating its own virtual hard drive. I'd like to know if there's any problem with my parallels after I delete the boot camp hard drive? Will I have to reinstall my Windows XP OS again after deleting the partition?
    Thank you,
    Nacintosh520

    Hi Eric
Are you saying that I have to reinstall my Windows XP OS all over again, with the patch and everything after deleting the BC partition? Is there a way to create a virtual hard drive from the BC partition of what I have? It's such a time-consuming process that I have to tweak the OS to the way I'd like it.
I wonder what solution will Apple offer when they offer more and more content, and space for each computer is limited. I did some research on this issue and it turns out that the solution is the set the option in iTunes to "Manually manage my music files" in the Preferences panel. I don't want to do this because if I set this option, my files won't be organized any more, and it's gonna be all over the places. But I guess I have to do this until Apple offer an option such as "Move my Podcasts file to _ external hard drive" to keep everything stay organized.
    Thank you,

  • Have you successfully burned DVD+R/DL disks with DSP 4?

I'd like to hear from anyone who has successfully burned a dual-layer project to a DVD+R/DL burner using DVD Studio Pro Version 4 and a THIRD PARTY burner (NOT a Apple SuperDrive that came with the G5).
    What drive are you using?
Is it external or did you upgrade the internal drive?
    What media are you using?
Are there any notable problems have you encoutered along the way? Any words of wisdom to share regarding dual-layer DVD projects?
I think an answer to these questions would help lots of readers, thanks in advance for taking the time to respond.

I have burned successfully direct from DVDSP and Toast
Toast worked for me, but DVD Studio Pro did not.
LaCie had no interest in helping resolve the
problems with DVD Studio Pro. They only wanted
to talk about Toast. I don't use Toast, I use
DVD Studio Pro, so after wasting days back and
forth with LaCie support, I decided, better to
purchase the Plextor PX-750UF that I know and
verified works with DVD Studio Pro. I wish, I
wish, LaCie would have helped me with using it
with DVD Studio Pro, but they said, they do not
provide technical support for third party products.
