How BW BPS is better than R3 Planning

Hello all,
We need to do depreciation forecast for 10 future years.
we have data flowing in from R3.
We have about 3 million Asset Master base.
We are lookin fo various options.Some of the concerns are:
1.Is it not possible to do in R3 itself?
If not wht can be the restrictions?
2. wht is the advantage of using BW BPS?
Any help appreciated!

In comparison to R/3, BW-BPS offers a more flexible planning environment.
BPS offers a lot of planning functions which may not be available in R/3.
It also gives you the flexibility to plan across company codes/controlling areas etc. as you can design your own planning structure.
In contrast to R/3, which has separate, specific Customizing for every application, BW-BPS has a
unified framework that is not dependent on what the customer wants to plan.
You can integrate your planning by splitting the tasks between R/3 and BW-BPS. In areas where a
company requires a high level of detail it is better to continue to plan with R/3. In other planning areas,
where the goal is the most flexible simulation of structural changes and their effects, you can use SEMBPS
to model and analyze the changes. This releases you from the relatively static conditions that apply
to organizational structures and Customizing.
When modeling the planning process, you have to consider the level of detail at which you want to work
with BW-BPS or R/3. You should always plan where the data can be most effectively accessed.
Keep the above points in mind while considering whether to plan in R/3 or BPS.

How to get vertical rather than horizontal plan?

Witha complex site layout plan it would be easier for me if child pages were shown in a vertical rather than a horizontal array.
The horizontal array makes for much scrolling across the screen and seems to use too much visual real estate.
How can this be changed?
Also is there no way to show notes alongside each page in the plan?

Usually staff answers are thoughtful and helpful - on this occasion I find the response to be rather simplistic and narrow minded.
1. There is no logical reason why a website could not be built irrespective of the way the planning mode controls it screen layout. After all that is what computers are really good at - separating logic from view. The only thing needed is a view modifier and I am really surprised that anyone would state with such confidence: "It can't hence, be changed in the plan mode"
2. When each sibling can be presented in a vertical rather than a horizontal plane it would facilitate visualisation, especially for complex sites,
3. No thought in the program design seems to have been given to the benefits which could arise from vertical presentation for printing purposes. We also need to be able to print siblings and the ability to be able to print out the site plan in vertical segments by sibling would be an invaluable planning tool.
4. No response has been made to the need to be able to attach notes (maybe using a "notes" layer?
Come - lets have a more thoughtful response. Like all software Muse is a work in progress and that, IMHO, is very true of Muse,. This program has a lot of potential but much needs to be done to approach a level of maturity that harmonises with other Adobe products. The absence of an inbuilt database management facilities is only one of many striking omissions which signal insufficient commitment and determination to fulfill that potential within a reasonable time frame.

I use both iMovie 08 and iMovie 06, if I want to make a DVD I much prefer iMovie 06. iMovie 08 is not as DVD friendly as iMovie 06.
Some people think iMovie 08 is easier to to use because you assemble clips using similar logic as you would with iphoto. iMovie 06 uses a concept of a Timeline (as do all other video editing programs I am aware of).
iMovie 08 is a wonderful program assuming that you're using it for what it was designed to do, assemble simple videos to share on the Internet.
iMovie 08 is NOT an upgrade of iMovie 06. It is a completely new application. iMovie 08 is better for absolute beginners that don't want to burn a DVD. Most others will like iMovie 06 for its far greater editing power and ease of making DVDs. (Like creating Chapter Markers and Share to iDVD.)
iMovie 08 has replaced "Share to iDVD" with "Share to media browser". Also iMovie 08 cannot set chapter markers, this has to be done with another program.
When using iMovie 06, one mouse click will set a chapter marker EXACTLY where you specify. In just a few seconds set all your chapter markers. When you are done editing just "share to iDVD 08" and all of your chapter markers will be there!
iMovie 06 is True "timeline based", iMovie 08 is "clip based" (each clip is like its own mini-timeline).
Want a DVD, use iMovie 06.
Want YouTube, use iMovie 08.

The 23" Samsung most likely uses what is called a TN LCD panel. TN panels are the same kind as used in virtually all notebook computers, including Apple's. TN panels are generally very sensitive to viewing angle. If you own a Mac notebook, or a PC notebook, perhaps you have noticed that tilting the lid/display can have a big affect on the colors you see.
Apple uses a premium LCD panel in their monitors based on a technology called IPS. IPS LCD panels cost more to make, though not three times. Nevertheless, if you really care about color and do color critical work, you should consider an Apple. The Apple will be better in nearly every way, you just need to decide for yourself if it's worth the added expense.

Well, you need to convince your client that ERP is not all about cost of implementation. There are many other areas that you need to look at - availabilty of trained staff - complexity of business processes - does your existing data/processes map into one better than the other - are you happy going Oracle Oracle or would you prefer SAP with some other database.
You can add that the majority of transactions in vanilla Oracle are more difficult than in SAP. SAP can be configured to support most of the business processes without coding.

I sometimes hear about people implementing their entity bean persistence using JDO, but it would make a LOT more sense to me to front entity beans with a JDO interface. Entity beans provide a good mechanism for handling transactions, caching, etc., while JDO provides a very simple persistence interface.

I have these tables --

So, is it right to conclude that Optimizer uses the optimal path and then processes the query resulting in nearly the same query execution time ?If the optimizer transforms two queries so that they end up the same, then they will run in the same time. Of course, sometimes it cannot do so because of the the way the data is defined (nulls are often a factor; constraints can help it) or the way the query is written, and sometimes it misses a possible optimization due to inaccurate statistics or other information not available to it, or limitations of the optimizer itself.
Is this the right place to ask for MySQL optimization ?Probably not.

Then yesterday during Chat, they guy just shut me off.I have 105 per my preferred bundle. Really want to get that. SOOOO Angry, if they did NOT have MONOPOLY on my community I would switch. I however have NO one to switch to. SO unamerican. Poor service, HIGH prices. I left service center in tears as I watched elderly couple hobble out on their canes wondering how they can pay the increase to their bill. That is just NOT right.

Nokia 5610 Firmare 6.60, how far better than Firmw...

I know that Nokia takes its own sweet time to release firmware for any of their given phone models, typically 6 months or more.
Considering the release time and the problems of restoring older firmware, how far the firmware v 06.60 is better than 4.81?
Are the common problems like the one mentioned below, are solved? : -
1. Phone restarting
2. Jitter playback of video files of 30 fps. REMEMBER, the phone is incapable of playing video files smoothly, which are of 30 fps!
3. Phone hanging
Overall, what does firmware version v 06.60 offer? What good it does to the phone? If not good, What bad it does to the phone
Is it recommended to existing phone owners to upgrade their phone firmware from 4.xx to 6.60?

I didn't feel anything better or worse in v6.60.
The major issue, hanging while playing music is still persist.

Then give them reasons. TCO. In-house experience and skills with Linux. Official support from vendors like Sun for Linux on their servers. I have a problem in BPS.   I am selecting the data from cube based on Month org details but I want to see the latest data.   How can i get this data into planning cube.

    Are yo having issue when you save something in the layout, the data doesn't appear in the listcube ? Or do you have issue that the latest data you see in the cube doesn't appear in the layout ?
For the former issue, please look at your selections of listcube and for the second issue, please check your planning level definition, make sure all the restrictions you have applied are valid for this latest data to be presented in the layout.

Open DNS better than Comcast xfinity DNS?

Is OpenDNS better than using Comcast/xfinity's DNS? If yes, how do I switch over?
I go to into Airport Utility and enter in the 2 openDNS numbers, something like 222 and 220, but at the bottom of the page right now (because I am using Comcast's DNS) there's a web address something.comcast.net Do I need to change that info too? If so, what do I put in that field?

How did you add them?
If you are using a single computer: Open System Preferences/Network. Double click on your connection type, or select it in the drop-down menu, and in the box marked 'DNS Servers' add the following two numbers:
208.67.222.222
208.67.220.220
(You can also enter them if you click on Advanced and then DNS)
Sometimes reversing the order of the DNS numbers can be beneficial in cases where there is a long delay before web pages start to load, and then suddenly load at normal speed:
