How calibrate iPod nano 7th gen ???

I have read the manual, and tried everything I can think of, I do NOT understand how to calibrate my nano 7th generation ipod.
The manual says:
Calibrating iPod nano
For more accurate workout statistics, make sure your height and weight are set accurately and calibrate iPod nano more than one time. Each time you calibrate iPod nano, its accuracy improves.
Calibrate iPod nano:
1 On the Home screen, tap Fitness > Run.
2 Tap a workout type (see Creating workouts with music on page 36).
3 Walk or run for at least one-quarter mile (0.4 kilometers).
4 End your workout, then tap Calibrate.
The Calibrate button appears at the bottom of the workout summary if the workout qualified for calibration. You may need to flick up to see it.
This never happens.
When I end the workout it says tap the Calibrate button, there is NO Calibrate button. At first I thought they meant the Reset Calibrate, but that doesn't get me anywhere. I did this 6 times, it always does the same thing.
Is this a process that only applies to the Nike thing ? I don't have one of those, and the manual does not seem to say that.
How do I calibrate just the Nano ??????

i found these instructions and they worked like a charm (fyi; don't turn the sensor on or it doesn't work):
1. From your iPod nano’s home screen, navigate to Fitness.
2. Tap Run.
3. Select your desired workout type and music.
4. Tap Start.
5. Before you begin running, position your iPod nano at your hip (i.e., in a pocket) or your bicep (i.e., in an armband). These positions allow the accelerometer to capture your movement most accurately.
6. Run or walk a known distance at a steady pace, without stopping or pausing.
7. After completing your calibration distance, tap End Workout. 8. If your workout is eligible for calibration, a Calibrate button will appear beneath your workout summary. Tap this button to calibrate your workout. 9. Adjust the workout distance displayed on your screen to match the distance you actually ran.
Note: If the Calibrate button does not appear, the workout is ineligible for calibration. Please review the calibration procedure and try again.
i had trouble figuring it out and when i found this i was surprised how simple it was.....i made several failed attempts too

Hi, how can I connect my ipod nano 7th gen to my car with bluetooth? Since I only have onstar device on my car but no bluetooth device, do I need to buy extra device to connect my ipod ? And what kind of device I shall choose? Thank you!

Check with the manufacturer of your radio and see if they have a compatible cable.

When I connect my iPod nano 7th gen. to my computer and open itunes, there is a message that says the iPod could not be detected. Does anybody know how to fix this issue?

    1. Update iTunes to the latest version. Plug in your iPod. If iTunes still can't recognize it, then in iTunes in the top left corner click help> run diagnostics. On the box that comes up, check the last two things. Click next and it should identify your iPod.
    2. Click on your windows start menu. Type in "services". Click on it and when it pops up, on the bottom of it click on "standard". Now Scroll down to find "Apple Mobile Device" Right click it when you see it and click on "Start". When it has started, close iTunes and replug in your iPod and it should show up.
    3. Check the USB cable
    4. Verify that Apple Mobile Device Support is installed
    5. Restart the Apple Mobile Device Service and verify that the Apple Mobile Device USB Driver is installed.
    6. If you just want to add some photos, songs and movies from computer to your devices, you can use an iTunes alternative to do the job.
    7. Check for third-party software conflicts.

  • How can I lock the screen on ipod nano 7th gen?

How can I lock the ipod nano 7th gen? Just pressing the top button doesnt cut it as it still starts to play music or pauses or change volume with the slightest knock im in 2 minds to take it back if you cant lock it as ive only had it 4 days and already found this a huge problem!

Hi! I really couldn't find no way to lock the screen, except pressing the top button (what only cancel any touch you do in the screen).
That's an old discussion about (failure vs feature), but I wonder about if you are running, you can let the screen locked and still change or pause the song by pressing the buttons on the side of the iPod)
    hope I could help you

  • How to stream movies from an ipod nano 7th gen

I just bought an iPod nano 7th gen and I own an Apple TV and a lightning connector  to hdmi cable. Is there a way to put movies from my iPod on my tv

The 6th gen nano could not play videos, so it certainly could not stream them to a TV.  It may have been able to show photo slideshows on a TV screen.
The 5th gen nano (plus 3rd and 4th gen) may have had the ability, but I don't think its output was HDMI.  You could use this
    http://store.apple.com/us/product/MC748ZM/A/apple-composite-av-cable
to output a composite (non-digital) signal to a TV.  But the new nano has a Lightning connector, so I probably won't work (even if you use an adapter).

  • IPod Nano 7th Gen says "Unsupported. Accessory is not supported" when trying to charge / sync

iPod Nano 7th Gen says "Unsupported. Accessory is not supported" when trying to charge / sync with official apple lightening cable.
It worked for almost a year then suddenly began to say that. My computer [windows], lightening cable and my power brick [all apple official] are all the same as they were when it was working. The iPod is almost a year old now, and has worked perfectly up until about a week ago.
I have tried resetting the iPod, plugging it into different charging sources but it keeps saying "Unsupported. Accessory is not supported"
Does anyone have any ideas on how to fix it?
    Thanks.

Your iPod Nano firmware and iTunes updated to the current versions?
It is very difficult to offer troubleshooting suggestions when the "os version" you are using is unknown as each os has their own troubleshooting solutions.

I would either say that the iOS is correpted due to a software glitch or y have have a hardware problem like bad memory locations that are corrupting the iOS.
    - Restore from backup via iTunes. This will install a fresh copy of the iOS. See:
    iOS: How to back up
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.   This will elimate corruptin in the backup causing the problem.
If still problem, make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.

  • IPod Nano 7th Gen. & Nike App

    Good morning friends,
I am interested in purchasing an iPod Nano 7th Gen. for the fitness app but I have some queries - I've checked online and am a little more confused then when I started.
I understand that the Nike Fitness App doesn't need the shoe sensor in order to work.  This is the main reason I am interested in purchasing the product; however, in the store the personnel indicated that the shoe sensor is required.  I investigated this a little and now I am of the understanding that you can use the app without the shoe sensor for walking/running, but that having said sensor makes the app more efficient/accurate.
Could someone clarify this for me, and indicate which are the functions when having the iPod only or having the iPod + shoe sensor?
    Thanks so much in advance!

    Hello,
I have the ipod nano 7th gen. I use it without the sensor and it works fine. It is quite accurate. I have tested it by running around my neighborhood and then compared my run  to Google Maps and it was pretty close. After each run, you can calibrate your distance. This will make your runs even more accurate.

  • IPod nano 7th Gen. occasionally reboots

I've bought myself an iPod nano 7th Gen. about two weeks ago. I updated the firmware to 1.0.2 and synched some playlists on it. During the first two days my iPod nano shut down and rebooted itself about 10 times, no exaggeration. I went to my Apple Premium Reseller, turned it in and got a new one a few days later. I'm using that one for about a week now and I still got the same problems:
It happens when I wake the display up and music is playing. I hit the lock button, the music stops, the screen turns on and shows the Apple logo and then a few moments later the greyed-out homescreen with a spinner. Sometimes it shows the home screen directly and a spinner when I tap on the Music "app".
In some occasions I first hit the home button, the music kept playing and the screen stayed off, then I hit the lock button and my iPod reacted as described above.
Since two days, I observe another error which occurs often when editing a playlist or creating a new one, but also on wake up like above: The music stops, for about half a second a weird sound plays over the earbuds and then the iPod shuts down and I have to manually turn it on again (tap and hold on lock button).
I'm writing this now because I listened to music the whole day today and nearly everytime I took the iPod out of my pocket it rebooted like described above. I suspect that this is a software problem, so please, Apple, do something! These bugs make it really annoying for me to use my nano for what an iPod is for: listening to music.
Some further information: In iTunes, I checked the "Convert higher bitrate songs to 128 kbps AAC" option and filled the iPod nano with about 12 GB of music. I listen to music only with the Apple earbuds, no bluetooth headsets or car dock stations. For selecting songs, I mainly use playlists.

Okay, I tried unchecking "Convert higher bitrate songs to 128 kbps AAC" and this seems to solve the problem. Of course this is not satisfying because I can't fit all of my music on it anymore; but at least I can listen to it.
I still hope that someone at Apple reads this and tells me how to really fix that. For me, this experience is like buying a car that breaks down every 500 meters. An iPod nano that can't play back music without interruption is embarrassing!

    Hi altofts,
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.  You can try resetting and restoring your iPod nano to see if that helps with the restart loop:

  • Am trying to sync my ipod nano 7th gen. i get this message: not enough access privileges."

i am trying to sync my ipod nano 7th gen with my music on the cloud, via a desktop PC.
I have successfully done this in the past.
now I am getting a series of messages: "not enough access privileges"
have reset the nano and also downloaded latest iTunes software.
    Any suggestions?

    Hi,
I'm having a very similar problem, so I was excited to see the link above. But when I click on it, it redirects me to the nike.com main website (I'm assuming Nike redid their website since the above link was posted). Could you please point me to that article somewhere else or tell me how you fixed your problem?
My exact problem is this: I was running until recently with my iPod Nano 6th gen and the Nike+ sensor kit (sensor that goes in the Nike+ shoe plus receiver that goes in the iPod Nano). When I would sync my Nano with iTunes (I would have the "Automatically send workout data to nikeplus.com" option checked), all was well with this set-up as far as syncing my stuff to the Nike+ website goes.
I recently realized that for the iPod Nano 6th generation, the sensor/receiver combo is not required anymore. So I ran two runs without the receiver. I kept the sensor in the shoe though as nowadays I mostly run with my recently purchased Nike+ Sport GPS watch and I like to have the sensor in the shoe in case the GPS signal gets lost at some point during a run. Anyway, those two runs that I ran without the receiver won't sync to my nikeplus account. I can see them in my iPod Nano's history and I can see one of them (the latest one) on the Nike + iPod tab of iTunes when I sync my Nano. The difference though is that on iTunes this latest run appears under a "Sensor 1" selection, whereas all my previous runs with both the sensor and receiver would be under "Nike + Sensor" selection. Within the "Nike + Sensor" selection, under nikeplus.com, there's the "Automatically send workout data to nikeplus.com" option and below it a Login ID that shows my Nike+ website log-in info. Within the "Sensor 1" selection, the Login ID is missing. I've tried renaming "Sensor 1" to something else but it didn't make the Login ID appear.
Thank you for reading this and any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Best,
    Dimitris.

  • Music keeps cutting out on my ipod nano 7th gen when using bluetooth

I just recently got an Ipod Nano 7th Gen and the music keeps cutting out when I use bluetooth headphones. It seems like it needs to have a line of sight or else the music will cut out. If I hold the ipod in my hands while running or keep it in my pocket, I am listening to more pauses than actual music. I practically have to hold the Ipod up to my head while running to not have it cut out on me (and that is obviously not comfortable). Is this how it should be or do I have a faulty Ipod? Is there some way that I can fix it or do I need to take it to the Apple store?

thankfully I was just able to find the answer in another member's post. You can double click the side button to advance the songs. I credit member little goomba for sharing the answer on another post. Now I am back to loving my new Nano!

  • HT1363 Using iPod nano 7th gen with Bitlocker

    Hi guys,
Quick question on using iPods on Windows machines that have Bitlocker enabled - how do i prevent the iPod from showing up as a removable drive? I have disabled disk usage in iTunes but no luck. The problem is that Bitlocker is trying to encrypt the iPod, which renders it unusable anywhere else
Strange thing is that the behaviour seems to vary between iPods, i have:
-iPod Classic 5th Gen - issues
-iPod Touch - no issues, works like a charm
-iPod Nano 7th Gen - issues
On the same machine my iPad 2 work without issues.
Thank you in advance for the help
    Regards,

You would need to make a change in that software. Try for help on their website.
