How can 35MM Slides be transfered to DVD?

I have 100's of slides that need to be transfered to DVD's, &/or iDVD, &/or iPhoto.... A transfer device is available for PC's but is there an affordable transfer device for Mac users???

I have an Epson 4180 flatbed scanner which will copy my 35 mm slides 4 at a time. It takes about a minute a slide. The software that came with the scanner imports the pictures to the mac in JPG form. I then import in into I-photo. I had about 4000 slides collected over 50 years and there are a 1000 in my I-photo library. This software will also scan the slide and convert it to PDF which is handy for copying and sending correspondence or whatever in E-mail.

I think this link will offer some good insight. I would recommend moving the library to an external HD if you are already using iPhoto on your MBP. If you do decide to move the library directly to your MBP just make sure you are using a different enough name for it that your MBP can easily locate each library independently.

I have Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Lightroom on my MacBook Pro laptop. I bought an iMac and I'd like to move my installations to the larger display desktop for editing purposes. How can I go about transferring them?

I have the same question. It seems that Adobe is almost impossible to contact (I ended up here at the forums to ask the same question).
I will never buy another Adobe product again if I can get another program to replace it. If this is customer service then it is NON EXISTENT!
I notice that your question has not been answered and why should you have to get the information from a forum? I know of no other company that makes you do this for simple product information.
NOT HAPPY with this version of arrogant customer service (nor am I happy about renting Photoshop products into the future - it is just a money grab in my opinion). I will be voting with my feet and going elsewhere in future.

If you need simple burning, do as Robert said. However, if you need more advanced options, take a look at Roxio Toast 10 Titanium. There is also a Pro HD version if you need more video burning options.

how can i improve burning quality of dvd.looks fine in preview on idvd, but final burn quality is poor.

Had same problem with iPhoto pictures and poor burn quality. Went back to original picture file and dragged images into idvd project from there. Set encoding at professional quality and burned at slowest speed. Got very good result with high quality slideshow when played on TV.
Also tried Old Toad's Aug 30, 2011 advice to get a slideshow into iDVD with transitions, music, etc. from iPhoto.
Again the quaility of the burned CD was very good.

  • If I download a video from my video camera to a new (current 1/12) iMac 21 inch, how can I burn it to a DVD using the computer itself. Is this possible? Do I need to buy additional software. Two salespeople at the Apple were a little confused about this.

If I download a video from my video camera to a new (current 1/12) iMac 21 inch, how can I burn it to a DVD using the computer itself. Is this possible? Do I need to buy additional software. Two salespeople at the Apple were a little confused about this. Thank you.

The DVD recorder I'm referring to is one I've use for years. It is not attached to my aging iMac in any way. I simply play the video from my camcorder (mini-dv tape based Canon HV20)  into the DVD recorder and create a DVD that can be played in any DVD player. I can only do minimum editing so what goes in is what I get. This has been fine for creating dupes of the various things I shoot.
If I buy a new iMac (21 inch), I'd like to be able to download the video to the iMac through iMovie, work with it to whatever degree I wish, and burn it to a DVD that can also be played in any DVD player -- or to use as a master to dupe copies.
What I'm understanding from you and others is that this would be possible if Apple had included iDVD in the software that comes with the iMac, or if I purchase the iLife Family Pack, or buy the correct version of Toast. I'm hoping I can persuade Apple to sell me an iMac with iDVD installed.
Essentially I want to move from a basic process of creating DVD copies to the more sophisticated process of creating one from an iMac.
Thank you again for your help and wisdom.

  • How can I convert MiniDV tapes to DVD? I've use a Canon GL 2 and an iMac about 1 year old. I'm trying to use iMovie and I've installed the latest drivers.

How can I convert MiniDV tapes to DVD? I've use a Canon GL 2 and an iMac about 1 year old. I'm trying to use iMovie and I've installed the latest drivers.

MiniDV was a great format, one I still use often. I also still use iMovie HD6 to process it and, for all the iterations of iMovie that followed it, I still believe it was one of Apple's greatest movie software programmes, next to Final Cut Pro, using a timeline method of editing. That was also in the day which Apple put Superdrives into their computers, so that you could not only make your movie in iMovie, but you could render it to iDVD and then burn the DVD. Now you need to buy an external burner.
Since iMovie HD6 and iDVD 6 were "universal" software, it has continued to work through the many OS releases since it came out with Tiger, I believe it was. So, it may still work with Mavericks too and, if you could locate a copy of iLife 06, probably used, you might enjoy the difference that HD6 has over all iMovie releases since then.
Not saying you can't process your MiniDV with current iMovie versions, but I'm not the one to speak about that.

  • How can I get HD quality on DVD

OK, how can I get HD quality on DVD like I can for youtube?   I use mpeg2 or H.264 for my youtube videos and they look fantastic on there.  I use the NTSC widescreen for my DVD's and they look like crap compared to my youtube videos. I even notice that my video ends are cut off a bit compared to my youtube videos.  It's like it is burning the dvd's in standard instead of HD.  I have a canon HF200 HD camcorder.   Is there a way to get that same quality on DVD?  keep it simple for me.  I'm using PE7
    Thanks

Do you mean that you wish to Burn BD material to a DVD disc, or something else?
DVD is, by definition, SD material, and was designed to be viewed on a CRT TV. It is not HD, and that is what BD is all about. You cannot alter the DVD-specs., as they are written in stone. However, one can do things with a blank DVD disc. What they do, depends on what one needs.
Please let us know exactly what you want to do, and we can give you tips.
    Good luck,

  • IMovie does not "share" to iDVD. How can i burn an iMovie to DVD?  I do have a copy of iDVD on my Mac

IMovie 11 does not "share" to iDVD. How can i burn an iMovie to DVD?  I do have a copy of iDVD on my Mac

My advice, keep iDVD on your Apple Mac as it is a great software and let's hope Apple will introduce it again in imovie 10.  Since you may have imovie 10.0 (2013) up-dated from imvovie 9.0 (which included iDVD for burning your home made films on imvoie 9.0,)  you can proceed as follows to burn it on a DVD:
    a) your film is completed on imovie 10.0.  Under share transfer it to "Theatre" (default).
    b) open iDVD  and drag the film ex "Theatre" on the space "movie" of i.DVD.
    c) Inser a DVD and clic on "burn"...
    It worked for me.

  • How can I order a new 'Applications DVD'?

    Hi,
unfortunatelly I have lost the Applications DVD but I do have the original Mac OS v10.6 DVD that came with my MacBook Pro.
I want to upgrade (clean install) from Snow Leopard to Mavericks but I dont want to lose the applications and not be able to access my content (e.g. photos).
Can you please tell me how can I obtain the original Applications DVD from Apple.
    Many thanks
    S.

    Welcome to Apple Support Communities
You won't lose any app by upgrading to OS X Mavericks. Just check that your applications are compatible > http://www.roaringapps.com Also, make a backup of your files on an external drive with Time Machine.
If you want an Applications disc, call Apple > http://support.apple.com/kb/HE57 They will ask you for the MacBook's serial number and they will send you the disc

  • How can I stabilise large transfers of data & retain full smart playlists?

    Hi,
I hope somebody can help. Now that I have more than 20,000 songs in my iTunes, all of which I want to sync, my ipod classic 160gb goes into the 'infinite reset loop', or, when occasionally appearing to sync correctly, ends up with 0 songs, 0 video, etc. on the iPod.
This is despite supposedly having some 22GB of unused space.
I assumed it was by 2-and-a-half-year-old iPod succumbing to old age and bought a replacement, but the problem occurs on the new machine too.
I have tried various solutions from the Discussion forum, e.g.:
    1) procedures for checking for hard-drive errors
    2) restoring to factory settings and then re-syncing
    3) I found one helpful tip for creating a new smart playlist to introduce the files in stages, which is supposed stabilise the transfer of large amounts of data. While this was helpful, and appeared to stabilise the data, I was left without all my smart playlists (except the one I'd created for this exercise). Transferring back to Syncing the entire library, so as to regain all my smart playlists, merely made the iPod unstable again.
I really want to be able to access my (extensive) smart playlists: I'm presuming it's the very amount of these that is contributing to the problem. Can anyone suggest a solution?
    Thanks!

8GB won't really help you unless you also use LabVIEW 64bit. 2GB should be OK.
To graph it, you need to decimate it as shown in the link I gave you earlier. Most likely, your monitor has only a few thousand pixels across, so it is not worth to display more points than that. It won't look any different if done right!
Can you show us your code? Can you attach a small sample file that has the same structure, just with less data?

  • How can I use a remote CD/DVD drive to install MacOS 10.4?

    Hello,
My old iBook G3 needs to be updated to MacOS 10.4 however its CD drive doesn't work. I have an retail copy of Tiger and have put it in my iBook G4 but when I open the installer it doesn't allow me to choose my mounted iBook G3 (which I have connected through a wireless network). How can I use my iBook G4's CD/DVD drive to install MacOS 10.4 on my iBook G3?
    Any help would be appreciated.
    iBook G4 Mac OS X (10.4.6)

'Making matters worse' seems a bit excessive, since it isn't that uncommon for an optical drive to die in an otherwise perfectly good machine. (Ask parents with inquisitive kids, for example!
Plus, this is an iBook, & I don't believe OWC sells replacement internal drives for them, only for PowerBooks, so it doesn't seem that unreasonable to suggest that he first try something that has a good chance of doing what he wants to do, which is install Tiger on the iBook, rather than suggest anything that may or may not be appropriate for his situation.
Since he already has purchased the DVD, the most he is risking with the TDM approach is the cost of a 6 pin to 6 pin FW cable, which he still should find useful no matter what else he decides to do. If nothing else, it shouldn't cost anymore than the exchange of the DVD for CD's, right?

  • How can I tell if an install DVD is a family pack or a single-user?

I'm now running Tiger, and want to install Leopard. I can't go to Snow Leopard because my processor is powerPC -- not Intel.
I have purchased a new Leopard install DVD from a seller on Ebay. I paid for a family pack. It does not say "family pack" anywhere on the package, which is sealed in clear plastic. I asked the seller why it didn't show "family pack" anywhere visible on the package. He "guaranteed" that it is a family pack, not a single user license.
I've looked at a family pack DVD for Tiger and for Snow Leopard. Both show "family pack" on the exterior of the package, but I don't see anything on the face of the DVD.
Is there anyway that I can confirm whether the seller is being truthful? If I open the package, and it doesn't show anything on the face of the DVD . . . . how can I tell if it really is a family pack?
    Thanks for your help.

My Leopard came pre-installed, so I don't have a retail package to examine. However, doing a google image search for family packs, I couldn't find any obvious difference on the outside or inside between the two. Here, for example, is someone who says he bought a family pack and photos of the inside of the box including the DVD:
    http://www.flickr.com/photos/robertnelson/2211524221/
Notice, no "family pack" to be seen anywhere.
The only difference, as I understand it, between the family pack and the single-user pack is the number of license you pay for. If you paid (a third-party) for a family pack license, then I feel you can in good conscience install the OS on up to five computers in your house or that otherwise meet the terms of use for a family pack. The OS will not seek out duplicate serial numbers on your network or anything like that (even single-user installs rely on the honor system) so you will be fine.
