How can a mail deletion/trash work across devices?

I have 3 apple devices. Mail seems to operate independently on each of them. Other apps are synched, why not mail. When I read/delete/respond on one device, it doesn't reflect on the others...???

What kind of email account is it?
If it is POP, then there is no way to sync those things as POP is designed to download the messages to your Mac.
If it is IMAP, then it should show what is stored on the server. If you trash it on one device, it should be trashed on the others.
If it is Gmail, then I’m not sure anybody knows what will happen as it is such a screwed up email server.

Only be using data rescue software - and there's always the chance that the file has already been overwritten.
I've used Data Rescue 3 to succesfully retrieve files that I've trashed. It's an $100 gamble, tough, and there's no assurance that you'll be able to retriebve the file.

So I mistakenly deleted a bunch of files, mostly mp3 from itunes, when I emptied my trash. I tried using Stellar Phoenix to recover the files, which it kind od did. When I say "kind of" I mean it restored files but only partially. So I have that music back but only like one minute of each song. I'm wondering if there is any other way to recover emptied trash? Any input would be much appreciated! Thank You!!!

no, not without any type of data recovery software (which you have) or sending the hard drive to a data recovery service. And those services do not guarantee that any or all of your information will be recovered. This is why it is so important to spend $100 or less and purchase an external hard drive for backup. I'm having a similar but slightly different problem. My company just migrated to Gmail, and it's saving mail drafts every 30 seconds into my Trash folder.
I unchecked the "Show in IMAP" preference in the Gmail settings, but my Drafts folder completely disappeared. I went back and checked it and the folder reappeared (with my drafts still in there).
I like the idea if starting an email on my laptop and having the option of finishing it on my iPhone or iPad, so only saving Drafts locally would not be ideal.

I presume since you posted here that you have a TC running backups with Time Machine???
Otherwise no I doubt you can recover it. Once deleted from trash it is likely overwritten on the disk if you used it at all.
Look at recovery of particular emails here.
Edit this is apple mail.. I have no idea what client you are talking about for yahoo mail.. if it is web mail and trashed.. and not in a trash box then it is likely gone. It depends on settings on the local computer.. if you are downloading mail or simply using it via the yahoo mail page..
I would recommend you contact yahoo or google for their mail server info and how to recover. Assuming you are using web mail.. as there is actually nothing locally you can do to recover it.

I have 7 email accounts on my phone. If I tap EDIT while viewing the Trash folder in any of them I see "Mark All" on the left and "Delete All" on the right. If you tap any message, however, the legends go away.

The number of pictures/videos on the device is irrelevant. If there is not available space on the device, there is no way to take pictures. Pictures, videos, music, iBooks, and any other media share the same space.
Might be a good idea to manage the content on the device going forward so that there is always space available.
Try not to fall into the misconception that many others experience, believing that the iPhone is a storage device, it simply is not. Instead it is intended to be a mirror of the content on the computer.

Hi,
In the Finder (have any window open), Use the Go Menu whilst holding down the ALT key.
This will show the Library in the Menu, select this.
Navigate to the Preferences folder.
Find the com.apple.ids.service.com.apple.madrid.plist file and drag it to the Trash.
This is the one Messages reads directly to create the Receive At list and, if shown, the Start Conversations From drop down.
If Messages was starting properly and you restarted it at the point you would have to re-enter the Apple ID.
On the iPhone.
Go to Settings > Messages and check the app is ON first.
Then check the Send and Receive Section.
This will always list the iPhone Number as ticked and Greyed out (You can’t edit it).
Having said that I have twice found the Number to be Unchecked (whilst still grey out).
If this is the case go to the Apple ID section and Remove the Apple ID.
This will also remove it from the Send and Receive section (you can’t do it the other way round.)
Once that is done, place the iPhone in Airplane mode to break with the Servers.
After a few minutes take it out of Airplane Mode and return to Setting > Messages
You should see the iPhone Number being Verified. Wait until this is done.
(I would normally suggest sending an iMessage to the Apple ID at this point as it would be the only Active ID on the Mac. And sending a reply)
You can now add the Apple ID back to the iPhone if you wish to use that as well, if you intend to use it.

I then filter the Yosemite, Mavericks and iChat Areas using the Contents page and where require Messages or iMessages and deal with unread one.
Posting here at 2.41PM (according to the Time view I have) and then emailing me 11 minutes later seems like you are giving me the hurry up.
In the email and this Post you are not clear if you want Messages to work again.
Removing the com.apple.ichat.plist may help with that. (The Status Message one will not)
You may find checking the Font Book and the AppleGothic Font is the answer.

You do not need to create trash cans for individual drives. The trash can on the desktop holds deleted files from all mounted drives.
TimeCapsule manages its own space. If it fills up it will delete older backps to make space for newer ones.

I was able to fix mine. I went to software update and updated a few things. I did not update everything, but only what I thought were the essentials, which I believe was Safari, a security update, and a firmware update.
Then I deleted and reinstalled Itunes yet another time. Now the itunes store is back up again.

I had already tried deleting the review slide itself, though Captivate wouldn't let me - it just hid it. I tried again using the method you recommended but the slide remained in the filmstrip, so I tried deleting again, then re-added it from the Quiz Settings page ... no joy, same behavior as before.
I checked the Advanced Interaction page and confirmed that all of the scored questions were configuredthe same way as the non-scored questions, with the only difference being the pool that they were drawing from.
Other thoughts? I am by no means a Captivate expert but this one really feels like it shouldn't be this hard, and I'm more than a little afraid that it's the file itself that's jacked up ...
