How can Adobe Acrobat have an invalid serial number, but yet still be able to successfully install?

(with the invalid serial number causing it to not be able to be registered with Adobe Systems, Inc.)
Adobe Systems says the serial number is invalid, but the product successfully installed as normal with no errors.
If the serial number is invalid, shouldn't the installation have terminated and stated that the serial number is invalid?

Acrobat would continue the installation even without serial key but then it will be good only for 30 days.
After the trial poeriod is over, it will prompt you to enter a valid serial number to continue using it.

Adobe Acrobat 9 Standard - invalid serial number after transfer

Hello,
Trying to install my Adobe Acrobat 9 Standard on a new computer.
I followed the instructions to deactivate the licence on the old computer and documented my serial number (out of the REGISTRY). I also got the message, that the deactivation was successful.
When I now try to install the software on the new computer, this fails with a message that the serial number is invalid (but I checked serveral times for typing errors).
Any help?

What is in the registry is not necessarily the serial number. If you registered the software, you can find the serial number under your account on the Adobe website.

Apple (and no one else) can not assist (with serial number or iCloud) in finding a lost or stolen iPad.

Reinstalling FCP7 in my new Macbook Pro Retina Display. I have my serial numbers back to FCP1. But it tells me that I have an invalid serial number. Why?

Reinstalling FCP in new Macbook Pro Retina from time machine backup. Have all serial numbers back to FCP1 but I am warned I have an invalid serial number. How can that be! I need to install and use this weekend.

When I restored my new computer from the time machine, the software was transfer to the new machine, in the past when double clicking the icon it would come up and ask for the serial numbers. This time was the same with the exception of:
I did not enter an invalid serial number, I tried all the numbers I have. But none of them worked.
I will try to install from discs.

I am trying to reinstall photoshop elements 7. I bought it and installed twice on my laptop. My laptop died and now I am trying to install on my new PC. It is telling me I have an invalid serial number. what can I do?

So I think this has been figured out. A very helpful person at Adobe assisted me via phone, and it looks like I need to install the Creative Cloud for desktop. She clearly stated the steps and it is going as described.
So, for anyone else who has a creative cloud app subscription (mine is a single-app membership for Illustrator), note that you need to have the Creative Cloud for desktop app installed to enter your serial number for another adobe product you have already installed. I had incorrectly downloaded and installed Illustrator without using the Creative Cloud app. However, the creative cloud app is now updating my version of CS 6 and should now sync with my SN for Illustrator.

On installation, PE7 tells me I have an invalid serial number

I installed it fine on my desktop, but when I try to install on my laptop it tells me my serial number is invalid. Called Adobe and they verified my S/N is a good number. Why is it doing this? My laptop is XP Pro, with SP3 installed. The laptop was reformatted and there is hardly anything installed at this point.

Yes, at one point I did, but I've reformatted the computer since. The cd worked fine on installation on my desktop. But when I try to install the cd on my laptop it tells me I have an invalid serial number.

If you can't access the App Store from the Apple menu, Dock, or Applications folder installing the Mac OS X 10.6.8 Update Combo will reinstall the App Store for you.
It's ok to do this even you are already running v10.6.8.

FYI: Some third party software can cause issues with the App Store > Mac App Store: Sign in sheet does not appear, or does not accept typed text

Adobe also has Acrobat.com and there is DropBox.com. Adobe has also announced Adobe Document Cloud.
Forms central provide a subscription service for users with Reader to create simple forms. Apparently this did not meet a majority of users and with the minimal price difference for Acrobat and free web storage the users were better served without it. I expect cloud services will continue to emerge until providers better and more fully understand the user requirements.

I have a valid serial number, but acrobat installer won't accept it

I'm trying to install acrobat 8.1 on a new computer. I found my serial number under my account and it matches the one on the working acrobat v8.1 on my old computer, but then trying to run the installer,I get the message the the serial number is not valid. What is going om?
I have a screen shot showing the serial number on my adobe and the exact same serial number shown as invalid on the installer.

This acrobat is the v8.1 full product downloaded from http://helpx.adobe.com/acrobat/kb/acrobat-8-9-product-downloads.html. My Adobe says that I have a registered version of Adobe Acrobat, but does not specify a version number. The Acrobat on my old computer is 8.1 and displays 20 characters of the serial number. The serial number shown in My Adobe has 24 characters and the first 20 match what is shown on the old computer. Do I need to uninstall from the old computer before I can reinstall on the new one?
