Really, the colleague should have restored the computer to the original state before he sold/gave it to you.
Ideally, you would erase the drive, and reinstall the operating system to make the computer system "yours", entirely. Your natural apprehension is that you probably want to inherit all of the colleague's installed applications and files (some of which probably violates licenses for those apps and files), right?.
Provided that you are legally acquiring all these files/apps, alternatively create another admin user (you), and then login under the other user name and transfer all wanted/needed files in the colleague's home directory to the shared directory. Then login as "you", and subsequently transfer these files to your user directory. After this is all done, delete the colleague's admin account (deleting the old users directories as well).

I have tried all the optons to change the home page, but when I exit from Firefox and restart, it will revert to the iZip search engine home page. I even deleted the izip search engine reference from the searchplugin directory but with no success

You can open the about:config page via the location bar and do a search for jzip via the Filter at the top of the about:config page. 
You can reset all jzip related prefs via the right-click context menu to their default values.
To open the about:config page, type about:config in the location (address) bar and press the "Enter" key, just like you type the url of a website to open a website. 
If you see a warning then you can confirm that you want to access that page. 
You can use the Filter bar at to top of the about:config page to locate a pref more easily.

First, make certain that you have security setup for access to the ZFP, or zero footprint on BPC web. Next, the easiest method to change the opening page in BPC Web is to open the Web interface, and go to the Content Library.
Then click the name of the page, next to the Check box (in blue). This will open the page and you may select, Modify this Page from the Action pane on the right. From here, you can edit the existing page, add a new page or content, delete the original content etc. You add new content that is named and can move it around to fit your needs. Each section is a named content area in the page. When done, save and preview the page. All the work uses the Action Pane.

If you can open Safari go to the top of your screen, click Safari / Preferences then select the General stab. You can type in the web address for your Home page there.

Can I change the Home Folder of users with Group Policy (or in another centralized way)?

I know how to change the Home folder of users from AD Users & Computers -> their Properties -> Profile tab. But this is not very practical when one has users spread across many OUs, and with users being added and removed often.
So I am wondering whether there is a way to do the same with a GPO. The closest thing I found was Folder Redirection, with which I can change the location of particular profile folders for each user, but not the location of the whole profile.
Is there a way to redirect the entire location of users in a centralized way, using a GPO or some other mean?

My Dell Inspiron runs Vista, and I cannot change the home pages on my browser

I have a Dell Inspiron 530S running Vista. I updated Firefox to 5.0. I want to change the home page for one of the tabs. I change the tab to what I want, I go to Options - General - Use Current Page, and it seems to register. I then close Firefox and reopen it. When I do this, I get the old home page - not the one that was on the screen when I selected Options-General-UseCurrent Page on that tab.
What do I do in order to have that tab come up with the page I want when I invoke Firefox?

Make sure it says "'''Show My Home Page'''" in the first dropdown menu at the top before you try to change it.

Yes, there is.
Scroll to and choose (don't click on it, just have it highlighted) the icon you wish to move around and press the Menu key > Move. Scroll it to where you want it to be on the homescreen.
If the icon you want to be on the homscreen is now located in another folder, scroll to it and choose Menu > Move to Folder > Homescreen.

How to change the initial page without open safari

Hi everybody,
I have problems opening my safari because of the plugin silverlight. I defined a tvair.swisscom.ch page as initial and it makes an error open it. it means that my safari doesn't work at all.
i want to know if somebody knows how to change the initial page from safari without open safari and solve this problem.

Back up all data before proceeding.
Triple-click anywhere in the line below on this page to select it:

You can't easily unless you have the latest version (2.1.1).
If you do have this version then changing the font in the Tools/Preferences menu under the code editor/fonts section will also change the font of the data grid.

I have just downloaded the beta of Firefox 4 and am attempting to reproduce opening home page from previous version. Directions on accomplishing this (loading the NY Times front page) depend on a menu bar with "File, Edit, View, History" etc. There are not visible. They are shown in the directions on Firefox Help but not on my computer. How to do this??

You are trying to find a loophole to circumvent a basic rule that prohibits the transfer of purchased content from one Apple ID to another.
Content tied to an Apple ID are bound to that Apple ID forever. You can not merge or trade accounts. Well, not (officially) anyway...
