Safari only gives me three choices for a search engine:
   Google
   Yahoo
   Bing
I would like it to default to StartPage, or maybe even Duck Duck Go.

Hmmm. This didn't work. I even re-booted, and Firefox still doesn't show the search engine.
It was actually an update to an earlier engine, and I foolishly removed the old version rather than just updating it.
Is there anything elsewhere (eg. the registry) that might be preventing this?

Easiest way to change the search is to install 3rd party freeware Inquisitor. After installing it, restart Safari. Go to Safari Preferences. Click on the arrow at the far end of the menu panel. You'll see an hour-glass icon. Click on it to open the Inquisitor panel. Click on the search engine drop-down menu and select your preferred search engine.

The part of iWeb pages that give the search engines problem is the navbar. That's javascript based. One way to get around that is to create another blank page in the site that's not included in the navbar.
Add a text based navbar in that page with just the other pages in the site.
Also you can use that page for creating the sitemap for Google at Create your Google Sitemap Online - XML Sitemaps Generator.

For what I have understood some time ago, what Bob means says is that DPS nowadays lacks the ability of indexing content and its precise location in the app. No native indexing.
So, to achieve something like that you have to build that content in HTML and build some kind of index that points to the precise location of each item to be retrieved and them make that work with the needed buttons and form fields and...
Something to be done with HTML and coding so that this can be inserted and retrieved in the app built with DPS. It's like building an enclosed HTML site and then embed it into DPS.

I just installed Firefox 12.0 last night. All I want to do now is add www.Gibiru.com to the Search Engine Manager, delete Google & make Gibiru my default search. There is no add-on or plug-in at the Gibiru webpage & it doesn't come up under the Mycroft Project search. Why can't I open Gibiru.com in the Firefox browser & click a button under Options or Search Manager to make that page my default search? I think you need to be more specific about what you are trying to do. When you say "filter my list..." do you mean in a database query, in a full-text search, or do you mean filter a displayed list based on some user interaction?

How can I remove the search engines that got added last time I upgraded on android? I have been able to remove them in the past so why not now?

I have always chosen FireFox because it has generally offered me options to work the way I want to.
I am not even remotely interested in having a whole load of redundant search engines begging me to use them whenever I type anything into the address bar of the browser.
However, some wise guy has decided that on the android version of the browser these are now essential to the correct and stable working of FireFox and so I am stuck with them. (Unless I go back to Google Chrome, which I am reluctant to do.)
Please reinstate the ability to remove this sort of clutter/spam from my favourite browser.
