How can I add a security password to an Airport extended network?

I have an Airport Extreme network extended with an Airport Express and an older Airport Extreme. Everything works fine as is. I want to add a security password to the network but when I do, the two extending base stations appear in Airport Utility with an alert triangle next to them and when I select each of them, it asks if I want to "foget" that device. I do not want to forget those devices as they are extending the range of the network, I just want a password on the entire network for privacy. How do I accopliish this while still maintaining the extended network?

Conversely, set the security feature for each of the extending base stations first, then set the security for the main base sation. The extending base stations will go offline. Then back on once the main base station is configured with the same password as the two extenders.

You should be able to use the OpenVPN Connect app running on your iPad to connect your iPad to the VPN directly. It is an official OpenVPN client for iOS devices.
In what way is it "not compatible"? Have you tried it? Tunnelblick is an OpenVPN client, so your school's VPN is using the OpenVPN protocol. That means any OpenVPN client should be able to access it. (It is possible, but unlikely, that your school uses encryption that is not available on the iPad, but that would be very unusual.)
Otherwise, a remote control app on your iPad would let you control your Mac at home. "Back to My Mac", for example, would allow you to control your Mac remotely. The tricky part of this is that usually a VPN is set up to send all Internet traffic via the VPN server, and I'm not sure how that would work with "Back to My Mac".

I am trying to set up my HP C4180 to my home network so that I can print from any of my computers without having to have them attached by USB.
The YouTube video I watched was for a different HP printer and the installation of my HP C4180 did not give me the option of selecting printing through a network.
I currently have the printer attached to my desktop, but do not like having to keep the desktop on just so that I can use its shared printer. Is there a way to add the printer to the network independent of my desktop?

You could buy a router that supports USB printers, but with that (and your current setup) you can only access printing, not scanning.
I recommend a new wireless printer. They are not very expensive and can be placed anywhere in your home that has wifi access.

How can I add an additional ethernet connection to my existing network?

What follows is a question from a newbie, so please forgive my ignorance:-)
I have been trying to connect Logitech's google tv unit to my existing Airport Extreme network via an ethernet Cat-5e cable. The Logitech unit's ethernet port is blinking, but the AP Extreme's LAN port does not. I'm sure I have to re-configure my Extreme and have searched, but have not found anything that has worked. I'm sure this is a simple matter, but like I said...newbie:-)
My setup is as follows:
Time Warner Cable modem–to–AP Extreme via WAN–to–Apple IMAC via ethernet.(This set-up works fine to provide internet to my computer as well three other wireless devices) The set-up to the Logitech is: AP Extreme via LAN ethernet port–to–Logitech ethernet port with a CAT-5e ethernet cable.
Any help would be most welcome and greatly appreciated.

Based on your configuration description, the Logitech TV is physically connected properly to the 802.11n AirPort Extreme Base Station (AEBSn). You do want it connected to one of the available LAN ports on the AEBSn.
By default, the AEBSn, is performing as a DHCP server. Also, by default, most computing devices are configured as DHCP clients. What this means is that the AEBSn should be providing the proper IP addresses to any connected (wired or wireless) in order for that device to access both the network and on to the Internet.
It sounds like that Logitech TV is just not configured properly as a DHCP client.

your email password is with your ISP so they can help. but if it is saved in the email app you can just change the ports in the preferneces without a password.

I do not recall ever answering the security questions therefore I do not know them and iTunes will not let me purchase music through my iPhone. How do I reset the security questions? I do not have a rescue email set up to do so. How can I add that?

You can't now and need to contact Apple. Click here, phone them, and ask for the Account Security team, or fill out and submit this form.
The time to create a rescue email address is when you set up the security questions, not after forgetting their answers.
