hello can I use sub categories or group items by labels when using drop-down lists or check-boxes?

You can't include sub-menus in a drop-down. What is possible, though, is to populate another drop-down based on the selection made in the first one, or use a pop-up menu. Both things require a script, though.

How can I make a bound drop-down list using OAF?

I'm sorry this is such a basic question, but I've been trying for days, and I can't think of anywhere else to look for an answer.
I need a simple drop-down list, not a search. This particular list only has 10 or so items. It is based on a view containing a code value, and a description. I need all descriptions to be available at all times. Just click the arrow, and the entire list is displayed. When the user selects an entry, the code associated with the discription populates a bound attribute. Ideally, when the page is instantiated, the code value controls the text value visible in the collapsed drop-down list. Visually, it would be similar to an html <select> element.
Can someone please tell me how I can produce such a simple thing, or point me to some documentation?

I had played with the OAMessageChoiceBean component yesterday, but I was able to tell from your instructions that "Picklist Display Attribute" and "Picklist Value Attribute" really are not for binding to the database EO. That was the key piece of information that had me confused.
In addition to adding the messageChoice component to the page, I needed to write some code to synchronize the picklist value with the corresponding code value, which I placed in am OAFormValueBean (hidden form field) which I could then bind to my application's database EO in the controller, running in the processFormRequest procedure:

How can I put JTree into drop-down List of JCombobox

I want to create a drop-down list which shows a list of nodes. When the user clicks on a node, it should open to show the leafs. Clicking on a leaf should close the ComboboxPopup and show its value. Creating a renderer only represent my tree, but I can't trap the events.

I had to clear and restore my Macbook Pro and when I installed Firefox the drop down Bookmark menu is gone. I have the same version of Firefox on two computers and one has the drop down menu and this one doesn't. How do I get it back?

Do you mean the star on the location/address bar to bookmark the current page?
You can try to click the Restore Defaults button in the Customize palette.
Make sure that toolbars like the "Bookmarks Toolbar" are visible.

Drop-down list of check-box options with header.

Okay, I'm not sure if this is actually possible but I shall ask anyway. Partially because I have limited FP real estate and also because I think this is relatively easy method for the user to use, I have come up with the following idea:
I want something that looks similar to a menu ring when not selected, displaying the text 'Plots'. Then, when it is clicked a list/menu opens downwards (as opposed to the default operation of menu rings). In this list/menu will be an element for each plot that is displayed on an XY Graph. Each element will contain a check-box (control) and a string (indicator). The strings will each display their respective plot name. The user can then click on the list/menu/thing to show the elements for the plots, and can check or uncheck however many they wish. The idea is that whichever plots are checked will be the ones displayed on the XY Graph.
Firstly, have I explained this well enough, and secondly, is it possible?

Just to make sure I wasn't leading you down the garden path, I messed around a little and came up with the following two vi's (LV 8.5)
Load Custom Ring Main.vi, run it, and try selecting the ring list.

This is usually caused by one or more bookmarks having a long title.
You can check that folder in the Library and shorten long names.

You can remove such a bookmarked item that shows in the list if you open that url in a tab and click the yellow star in the location bar.<br />
This will open the "Edit This Bookmark" dialog and you can click the Remove button to remove the bookmark if you want to remove such a bookmarked entry.<br />

But when i create a data connection it is working properly only in the Preview in Livecycle Designer.. but not in the PDF form(Adobe Reader). Unfortunately there are some webpages which Reader Mode won't work with. If Reader Mode isn't compatible with a webpage you won't see the book icon won't appear in your URL bar, but you can try to force it by adding "about:reader?url=" at the start of the URL. For example:
about:reader?url=http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b04p5b36
From here, there will be a button at the bottom-right of the screen that will add an item to your reading list.
If this doesn't work for you, it might be worth trying bookmarks. You can [[Bookmark Tags - Categorize bookmarks to make them easy to find|use bookmark tags]] to organise the bookmarks you want to read and keep them separate from the rest of your bookmarks. For example, I often bookmark articles and tag them "to read" if I know I'll want to come back to them later.
Bookmarks have the added advantage of being [[How do I set up Firefox Sync?|synchronised with Firefox Sync]]. So if you use Sync, you could bookmark something to read on your tablet, and finish reading it when you're at your PC.

Here CARRID is a drop down by key field on the screen.
in The context it is an attribute in the node FLIGHTINFO.
