Special > Hypertext > Command "open document" will do its best to open the target document inside FrameMaker, which may not be much help; Special > Hypertext > Command "message …" will use the application you specify. The user guide for 7.0 says this about absolute links, and I don't think anything has changed since:
For example, to start PaintBrush and open the Ship.pcx file on drive C you would use the command message system pbrush.exe C:/Ship.pcx
I've not often used a relative link, and not recently: the same source says
folder levels are separated by a slash / even in Windows and Mac
[relative links] FrameMaker searches for a relative pathname beginning in the folder that contains the current document
[absolute links] FrameMaker searches for an absolute pathname beginning at the top of the file system. In Windows, the absolute pathname begins with the drive specifier, a colon and a slash.

Connect the old phone to your computer, right click on it in iTunes, and choose Transfer Purchases. That should put all of your music in iTunes except any tracks that were not purchased from iTunes. I have been reading about the Firesheep add-on that allows the user to hijack sessions of users on the network by stealing the cookie. I understand that to prevent any application from stealing the cookie, the cookie should not be passed by the site without SSL. However, my understanding of how Firesheep works is that it interfaces with Winpcap (a network sniffer). So my question is "How can an add-on execute an external program or operating system command like Winpcap?" Can any add-on do this and should I be extremely afraid of downloading any add-on because of the potential that it could have complete access to my system?

You asked a very good question and it turns out you're right.
However, one must be aware that download an Addon on another website that Mozilla may be dangerous. Indeed, the Addons found on the Addon Center are checked (roughly).
In addition, Firefox includes a blacklist that blocks addons identified as malicious.

How can I add news articles to website and dynamically update headlines without MySQL?

I update a number of website for athletes with news articles...
I'm doing it manually at the moment so I have to update:
    1. news.php (with date and article title which links to the article)
    2. News Article (with title, date and article text)
    3. includes/latestNews.php (an include latest 3-4 article dates and headline which links to the article - displays on every page via include)
The News Article is a plain and simple PHP file which is stored in a folder 'assets/news/' and the file is named according to date i.e. a news article today would be 130420 (as in 2013 year, 04 month, 20 day) so they sit in chronological order in the 'news' folder. There is a template page file called viewArticle.php which drags in the appropriate news article by link i.e. viewArticle.php?id=130420
At the moment, I have to update news.php, latestNews.php and the individual article individually and manually.
What I would like to do is...
...create, edit and add the News Article file (130420) to the 'news' foler as I am currently doing. But, with PHP, set news.php and latestNews.php to read the files in the 'assets/news/' folder to display the latest 4 article dates and linked headlines (for latestNews.php) and display all the dates and linked headlines (for news.php).
I don't know anything about databases and can't get my head around them so I would rather do it with PHP code. Is this possible?

The PDFL, as Adobe distributes it, only has a C/C++ interface.
The JNI APIs are developed and supported by Datalogics, the company you licensed your copy of the PDFL from. Have you contacted them? Support for their API extensions to the PDFL should be included with your licensing fee and they have many tips and ready-made examples specific to their API extensions they could give you.

How can I add account privileges to a newly created file?

I have multipe accounts on my Mac. Two of them need to share certain files, but not with everyone else so I can't use the Shared folder. When I create a new text file with AppleScript it has default ownership to the account that created it, but I need to give read & write privilages to it to the other account as well. I can do this manually, but there are lots of files sometimes. One trick I've found is to reset privilages from the next higher folder. This saves time, but sometimes I forget. Also when I do this it causes Time Machine to think all the files in that folder have been updated. If the folder is large it may cause Time Machine to purge a old backup version. What I'd like to do is find some AppleScript code I can use to add user "A" with read & write access to the permissions of a new file at the time my AppleScript creates that file. Any ideas?

Thanks for the reference. It was interesting and provided me with a direction I hadn't thought of: User Groups and Terminal commands which led to DO SHELL SCRIPT.
The approach in your reference wasn't practical for me because I already have about 10,000 folders in a 4-deep tree structure on a 2 TB hard disk. The inheritance method whould have taken a lot of work.
I did some more researching and experimentation and here's what I ended up with.
First I created a User Group and assigned the two accounts that needed to share files to it. By the way, I have two accounts so I can run time-consuming AppleScripts in one while doing work in the other. This way I'm not disturbed by the AppleScripts and, since some of them use System Events, they aren't disturbed by me. Anyway, I set up a User Group. For some reason, the first group didn't work properly. When I assigned it to a folder or file, one of the account names appeared next to the group icon in the Get Info window of Finder. I tried everything I could think of to make it work and failed. Then I created a second User Group and it worked fine, so I just deleted the first group. I wonder what went wrong the first time?
Next I used the Finder's Get Info window to apply the new Group privilages to all items in my very large shared data folder on that hard drive. This took about an hour.
Finally I created the following AppleScript code taking most of it from what I found on the Internet and fixing problems using other things found on the net. I've built the following code into a number of AppleScripts that create folders containing 20-200 files. I've run two of the scripts and created about 200 files in a few dozen folders and it seems to work fine. Oh, one more thing: For some reason I couldn't assign group membership by name. I kept getting an error message. When I substitued the group number - 505, it worked fine. Go figure!

How can I get TB to open again and accept the emails Carbonite restored recently?

A large number of emails were deleted from my Inbox for no reason I could discern. I downloaded all the missing folders and files from Carbonite, but I can't get TB to open now. I get this message when I try: "Thunderbird is already running, but is not responding. To open a new window, you must first close the existing Thunderbird process, or restart your system." Since I can't get TB to run, I have no way to close it. Restarting makes no difference. The nice folks at Carbonite confirmed that they had downloaded my emails onto my computer, but said that the Thunderbird problem was not their area of concern. And, if my problem was not solved in 30 days (this occurred about a week ago), they would automatically delete my back-up of these emails from their server.

Can I use lookout to retreive data in CSV file stored at a network PC

The machines I try to interface are PC based machines and network capability. All the informations are stored in CSV files.Is it posssible to use lookout to read these CSV files periodically.

Lookout does not have built-in functions to read CSV files. However, their are some ODBC drivers that are capable of reading/writing text files, and you can use Lookout's SQLExec object to communicate with those ODBC drivers. For example, the Microsoft Text Driver in your ODBC control panel will let you do this.

In Pages how can I add text under a Photo and keep word wrap correct?

Creating pages of a book, I'm having no trouble adding a photo to the body of the text and wrapping the text. However I want to add a description of the photo just below the photo, but have not been able to. The text box is not in the correct location and moving it around disturbs the adjacent wrapped text. Advice please. Thanks.

You will have to use the text box. A lot will depend on how long the caption is. If it's a one-liner, I can usually deselect the wrap and squeeze it in the space between the picture and the main text. If it's several lines long you will have to use the wrap but you can reduce the extra space. Or try grouping it with the picture.

How can I add new images to a saved book in Lightroom 4? Help please!

As the title suggests, I have created a saved book in LR4. I saved it not because I had finished but because I wanted to protect my work to date. Now I cannot add new images, although I can work with (move and remove) the exisintg images in the book.
I'm new to LR and can't help but feel that I'm missing something obvious. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Graham, switch to Grid view and drag the new photos to the book collection, which you'll find in the Collections panel. Then flip back to the Book module and you'll find the photos sat there in the Filmstrip waiting to be added to the book design.

How can I add a sequence in one project to a sequence in another project?

I have finished editing a project called "HF Field Day 2011" but want to add another finished sequence from another project called "Quick pitch tent" at the end of the video in the former project. I then want to render the combination out to a final HD video. I don't want to have to re-create the latter video in the former project as it's already fully edited where it is. If that's not possible, does anyone know of an external program that can "stitch" to videos together without losing any resolution or adding any more compression artefacts?

One way I found is to go to:
Home, movies, iMovie projects, find the project you want and right click and click "show package contents".
That will show a movie file and some other files. Drag the file to the desktop and rename it .mp4.
then go to iMovie, import, navigate to the mp4 file on your desktop and it will let you import to the events section and then you can add it to your movie.
Takes a lot longer to describe than to do. The quality seems to be preserved though I don't know if titles etc get transferred over, kind of doubt it.
