How can I adjust the size of a iPhoto file for a Google Picasa web album?

It is taking forever to upload my photos from iPhoto to a Google Picasa account. My photos are being uploaded exactly the same size they are in iPhoto. I can only upload 5 photos at a time in the Picasa album and It takes about 5 minutes for each upload. I know there must be a way to reduce the MBs, but so far I have not had any luck figuring it out. I would appreciate any insight into this problem.

Export the pics from iphoto to the desktop (File -> Export) you can reduce the file size of them in the process. Then upload them from there.

Sometimes a simple "Save As" will reduce the file size slightly, but probably not enough to pass the <8 mb threshold of your recipient, as you need.
You've probably seen it, try the next option in the Save As menu, "Reduced Size PDF," and make it compatible with the latest version possible, again considering the recipient. This suggestion assumes Acrobat X. You don't say which version you're using, but this tool was available at least going back to Version 8, but in a different place, you'll have to hunt.
If all that doesn't work, you could remove some images from the source document, which also will reduce the overall size.

Hello, I'm trying to save a 88 layer image as .gif file. there are two questions I have:
1. I'm trying to resize the image but when I try to save it as .gif the colors are just messed up and greyish. how can I resize it without messing up the pixel colors?
2. What's the best way to reduce the file size? Is it the dimension of the image? is it the number of colors used in it? or there is another options that i need to manipulate to get a better result?

You need to understand how GIF compression works. It doesn't matter whether you have 1 or 500 layers, 20 or 500 frames of animation. Hell, even the image dimensions do not necessarily matter. The only determining factor for file size is how many colors are spread across the size of the image or the frames, respectively, and those, as the others said can never be more than 256. after that, it is down to how many contiguous areas there are in the image and how large they are - large solid areas are better to compress than many small areas as the overhead increases. I suggest you give these things some consideration first before blindly pushing buttons, which - no offense - is what you seem to be doing right now. You are guessing what might look good, but don't understand how to control it to make it better.

How can i reduce the size of my psd file?

I have made a standee of 6'x3' using photoshop. And somehow the size has exceeded 1GB. I have substituted the vectors i had used and the high resolution images with equal sized pngs images (hope that will not create problems?) but the size is still 199MB. the other standees i made using corel draw are a mere 892KBs give or take. What else can i do to reduce my file size in this case??

As Noel and JJMack already said - you are possibly overdoing. You should read up on "resolution" vs. "dimensions" - from a distance, nobody can see those 300 DPI. Common resolution for such stuff is much smaller. As to your otehr matter - I would think Corel Draw is embedding a JPEG natively without modifying its data, hence no change in file size. That's just not how it works in PS, but again Noel is right - 1 GB is not that uncommon and even one of our 5 year old machines with WinXP 32bit and just 2GB RAM can still handle it. It's just not particularly fast... Anyway, many times files will get considerably smaller if you do not use the maximum compatibility setting. That way no composite previews, rasterized extra channel data and a bunch of otehr things won't be embedded in teh file. However, these files can only be used in PS itself, so if your job requires to hand them off to someoen who is using CorelDraw or anotehr program, this would not be of any use to you...

BorderLayout chooses the sizes of each of the components added to it. Choose a different layout manager (or set the placement/size manually with a 'null' layout)

I, too, am frustrated. This seems like something that would easily be handled within the application software. However, none of the fixes I've been offered have been very helpful. My cousin sugested using Control C and Control V to move the text to WORD. Once in WORD, you can manipulate the text on a WORD page...sometimes. I've had good and bad luck with this method. If this question is about TextEdit, I don't think you can do it in TextEdit, after pasting the image. TextEdit is meant to be a basic text editing program.
You will have to open the image file in an image editing application. You can use Preview for doing this, or something more fancy. If it's Preview, just open the image file. From the menu bar, under Tools, select Adjust Size. Make the image the desired size. Then, select (outline) the portion of the image you want in the Preview document window. Copy it, and paste it into the TextEdit document window.

How can I view the size of a particular event in iPhoto '11? The 'Get Info' option is not displaying the size of the event like it used to in iPhoto 8.

But the event does not really have a size - you can export the photos and make the size pretty much what you want - while it is in iPhoto it is an event
I guess that iPhoto could report the size of the original photos as imported - or the size of the modified photos if exported as JPEGs - or the size of the modified photos if exported with a maximum dimension of 1080 - but the event simply is photos and does not have a "size" until you export it
Obviously you want to know the size but the question was
what is your puprose for knowing the size?
WIth that information maybe there is a way to get you what you want
But the basic answer is simply that an event does not have a size - an event is a collection of photos and each photo has either two or three versions in the iPhoto library and each photo can be exported for outside use in several formats and at any size
