How can I automatically open certain excel files at startup?

I would like two specific excel 2011 files to open when I start my computer?  How do I do?

You could add them to your login items:
System Preferences>Accounts (or Users & Groups depending on OS version)>Login Items tab and click on the + sign to add an item and navigate you way to the file you want to open and select it. Repeat for the second file. They should now launch on restart/bootup.

  • How can I automatically open Mail.app message attachments after downloading

The subject says it all, I think.
    My wish #1
Automatically Opening Mail.app message attachments after downloading
    My Wish #2
At least having the Finder automatically default to the folder I just downloaded to after completing the download.
Is this an option in Leopard, at least?

Very clever. But unfortunately that doesn't seem to work in Tiger.
Then again, I stil presume that when you do that, a ile is still downloaded and appears somewhere on your hard drive. If you "save as" the file opened by preview, you probably still need to go back to the place where the file was saved and delete it.
Then again again, if Preview is peeking into a Word or Excel attachment, it may not actually be "downloading it" first?? Strange. If it was a jpg file attachment, on the other hand, it seems more likely that some sort of file would be downloaded to the hard drive as a result of that drag and drop of the paper clip.
I did find that drag and drop capability interesting, though. Even in Tiger.
Oh well. I have to start looking at scripts.
When I downloaded that Automator application that was supposed to "close all open applications", I was surprised that it didn't work. Says it works with TIger. ???
    http://www.apple.com/downloads/macosx/automator/
Was I supposed to import it into Automator as an "action" and save it as an Automator application and then open Automator and click "run" for that action each time I wanted to use it? Seams a bit cumbersome.

  • How can I add/retrieve Word/Excell files to iCloud?

I have an iCloud Account that I haven't used in the past. How can I add/delete/retrieve files such as Word & Excel files?

To save arbitrary document types in iCloud on MacOS X 10.9.5 have a look at Winston Churchill's User Tip:
See this link:  Using iCloud to sync multiple document types.
This will work between Macs, but not for mobile devices.

  • How can I automate attaching a .pdx file to a group of PDFs

I am using Acrobat Pro v9.  None of the Batch sequence operations allow me to set the Search Index field in the Document Properties->Advanced tab.  I want to be able to automatically attach a .pdx file to approx 80 PDF files.   I know that there is a way to automatically rebuild the .pdx file, but I need to attach the index to the PDF files, first.  Is there a way to do this via Javascript?  Or any third party plugins that will do this?

    Hello,
You can also use the FTP Put File.vi to programmatically transfer a file to your Real-Time Target, however, for this you will need the LabVIEW Internet Toolkit.

  • Why can't I open certain .dll files?

On an old computer i Have a file called atmcd32d.dll that says type labview vi library. When I open it it shows me a library of vi functions that I need to run an instrument. I've downloaded updated drivers from the instrument website and the new file is still atmcd32d.dll but the type now says DLL File and doesn't open. WHen I double click nothing happens. when I transfer the old file from the old computer to the new one it opens just the same.
Do I have to extract .dll files or what?
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    TSCline -
dll's are dynamically linked libraries.  They are a binary format that can be executed only on Window's based machines (i.e. not on Macs).  It should not be possible to open a dll (if you opened it in notepad you should only see nonsense).  In order to use dll's, they first have to be compiled and linked for your OS.  Then, you have to know the hooks to get into the dll.  In Labview, you interact with dll's via the Call Library Function node and you have to know how the function is called that you can properly specify the input and output parameters (a header file will tell you what functions are available in the dll and how to interact with them).  I think you can find more about ATMCD32D.H here.
    Hope this helps.  Cheers, Matt

  • Why can i not open certain pdf files?

I am having a problem opening pdfs. I have tried several times to open a pdf from my school but it gives me a blank page but no text. Other pdf documents open fine. I contacted tech support for the school and they checked document and were able to open and view it. I have a Surface with Adobe Reader Touch installed on it. I now have 3 pdfs I can not read or print.

Not many details about anything... It's may be that those files were damaged in transit; PDFs do not seem very fond of travelling through the Internet.

  • How can I upload a word/excel file to a website from my iPad?

    Hello everyone,
I use my iPad mainly for my job, I'm a professional translator. Unfortunately, I'm having a very big trouble, for my needs of course, that comes when I have completed my translation on a file word/excel and it's time to upload on the website. Infact, my iPad is not browsing the place where these file to upload are stored but only pictures from the gallery. Did anyone run into this before?
    Thank you

  • How can I prevent apps from reopening files on startup of the app?

For most of my working day I stay with OS 10.6.8 because it has what I need and hasn't introduced things that interfere with my work flow. However, sometimes I must use Mavericks and find that the tendency for previously opened files to be reopened by an app when I restart that app is very annoying. I've tried to turn off all instances that I could find that enabled a "re-open previously opened files" but it still happens. Is this a "feature" of OS 10.9.5 or something that is happening within the individual apps themselves? Any idea how I can eliminate this activity?

System Preferences/General - check 'Close windows when quitting an app'.

  • How do I get Safari to automatically open Word, Excel, Etc. files?

I can't get Safari to automatically open Word, Excel, Powerpoint, etc. files when I click on them from a Web site or Web-based email. They are automatically downloaded, but not opened. PDF files, and other "safe" file types, open automatically. The ""Open safe files after downloading" box is checked.
    Any Suggestions? Thanks.

There is no glitch. Lion does support Office and Word. You can use Office 2008 or 2011.

Where do you state that you need to email the files to someone else?
Where do you state that you need to edit them?
    This was my response ....
You can't edit any of these files without a compatible iPad app like Documents to Go (Excel, Word) or Pages (Word files).
You can open and view the files as mail attachments but you will not be able to edit them. Explain exactly what you are doing and maybe you can get meaningful instructions.
Basically I said the same thing as Julian and I thought that maybe if you explained EXACTLY what you were trying to do, it would be helpful.
Sorry for not being a mind reader. Your second post ...
I thought I had already explained, I get excel spreadsheets emailed to me I need to open them, read them, edit them and send them on to another person,
That is not what you asked the first time around.

  • Why does TDM Importer start up when I open an Excel file in LabVIEW, and how can I stop it?

I have a new application using LabVIEW 2012 SP1.  I open an Excel file using the Report Generation toolkit and when I do so, a small TDM Importer window pops up on top of the Excel file.
    How can I prevent this?

    Hi Steve,
The TDM Importer pops up because the report generated in LabVIEW is in the TDMS file format.  TDMS is a binary file that requires an importer to make sense of the binary data and translate it into an Excel spreadsheet.  As per this white paper, the appearance of the floating toolbar is expected behavior:  http://www.ni.com/white-paper/5874/en/
To the best of my knowledge, you cannot get rid of the floating toolbar unless you uninstall the add-in, in which case you probably would not be able to open your LabVIEW-generated reports.  However, as of Excel 2007, the toolbar is embedded in the "Add-Ins" tab instead of floating on your spreadsheet.  You can see how the toolbar looks as of Excel 2007 in step 6 of this white paper:  http://www.ni.com/white-paper/5885/en/
If there is a way to embed the toolbar in Excel 2003, it would be the exact same way you would embed any other floating customer toolbar in Excel.  In other words, I don't think this has anything to do with the fact that it's NI's add-in.  This is just the way Excel 2003 and earlier treats add-in toolbars.  Someone on these forums may well know a way to embed it (perhaps a macro?), but you may have better luck contacting Microsoft.  I'm not sure whether it's even possible for a user to embed the toolbar.

  • How can I creat or open an excel file in labview?

I am using Labview 7.1 and report generation toolkit. I got the example code from this address :"Creating a report in Microsft excel using the labview report generation toolkit"
But seems this example only can creat report when the excel file exist, otherwise it will get error code 7.
How can I creat a new file if it doesn't exist and open the file if it exist? Can I creat a report without openning excel because I need to creat more than one report and check it after the test.
    Thanks

Simply use the "Open/Create/Replace File.vi, and wire a constant "Create / Replace".
Wire a path/filename and make sure the name ends with the extention .xls
If you have multiple lines (likely), place aech line in an array and use the "Array to Spreadsheet String.vi" before sending it to "Write to file.vi". Don't forget to close the file.
    Hope this helps..

  • How can I automatically rename files based on an excel doc?

I am a scientist and recieve data files from some of my experiments with arbitrary, computer-generated names. For example, if I perform an experiment with four samples, which I name Sample1, Sample2, Sample3, and Sample4, I get back 4 data files named J30935D05.ab1, J30935E05.ab1, J30935F05.ab1 and J30935G05.ab1 along with an Excel doc that lists my names for the samples (sample1, sample 2, etc.) in one column and the computer-generated names for their corresponding files (J30935D05.ab1, J30935E05.ab1, etc.) next to them in another. Therefore, I must open the Excel file and look up which file corresponds to which sample before I can begin processsing my data. Usually these experiments involve a large enough number of samples (70-100 or so) such that looking everything up in the Excel doc gets very tedious and is quite time-consuming. Is there any way to create an automator workflow, applescript, or some other solution to rename these files based on the Excel doc? To clarify, I would like an automator workflow that would take a folder of arbitrarily named files, look up the names I have for the samples in the Excel doc, and rename the files accordingly. In the example, my folder containing files J30935D05.ab1, J30935E05.ab1, J30935F05.ab1 and J30935G05.ab1 would be turned into a folder containing the files renamed as Sample1.ab1, Sample2.ab1, Sample3.ab1, and Sample4.ab1. This example is a bit simplified, however, and trying a simple trick of just systematically renaming files within the folder would not work--both the original and the new file names must be looked up in the Excel doc, as these change dramatically from experiment to experiment. I would also need to maintain the file extension on each file after being renamed. Any help would be greatly appreciated!!
