How can I back up the whole system?

I want to try re-install the whole system because some software do not work properly, especially gcc-software but I really need it for my work and I don't know what to do, I tried everything and I think that the only one solution is to be like a Windows-users and to re-install the whole system. But I would like to have an opportunity to get back my system in case of it will not work.
Can I use something to back up my system?

Use a program such as the Disk Utility, Carbon Copy Cloner, or SuperDuper to create a clone on an external drive.

How can I back up the iPhoto library when iPhoto won't open and I can't simply copy the iPhoto library packet because "some of the data canny be read from or written to"?

Regarding not being able to open iPhoto.  As a test  launch iPhoto with the Option key held down and create a new, test library. Were you able to create a new library?
If so then your current library is damaged and needs to be repaired.
Apply the two fixes below in order as needed:
    Fix #1
Launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys held down and rebuild the library.
Since only one option can be run at a time start
with Option #4 and then #1 as needed.
    Fix #2
Using iPhoto Library Manager  to Rebuild Your iPhoto Library
1 - download iPhoto Library Manager and launch.
2 - click on the Add Library button, navigate to your Home/Pictures folder and select your iPhoto Library folder.
3 - Now that the library is listed in the left hand pane of iPLM, click on your library and go to the File ➙ Rebuild Library menu option.
4 - In the next  window name the new library and select the location you want it to be placed.
5 - Click on the Create button.
Note: This creates a new library based on the LIbraryData.xml file in the library and will recover Events, Albums, keywords, titles and comments.  However, books, calendars, cards and slideshows will be lost. The original library will be left untouched for further attempts at fixing the problem or in case the rebuilt library is not satisfactory.

If you bought Lion from the App Store, you can't legally or practically transfer it, because it's tied to your Apple ID. Reinstall the original software from the discs that came with the machine.

ive got a new pc with windows 7 and my ipod touch 4th gen is synced with my old pc ,how can i back up the photos and music on the ipod to my new pc ?

Your iPod can only be synced with one computer at a time.  If you try to sync it with a new computer/iTunes library, it will replace the contents of the iPod with whatever is in the new library. You should probably disable the autosync functionality first by going to Edit -> Preferences, clicking the Devices tab, and enabling the prevent iPods,iPhones, and iPads from automatically syncing option.
Before doing anything else,  authorize the new computer with your iTunes Account.  In iTunes, choose Store -> Authorize This Computer and enter in the correct credentials. Either copy a backup file from your old computer to your new one or create a new backup of your iPod in iTunes before letting it sync.
Then right->click on your iPod Touch from under the Devices section in the left hand pane of iTunes and choose Backup. You might also want to take a look at this article to see what it all included in the backup.

Now onto synced content such as music, videos, photos, etc.  For iTunes purchases you can copy them back into iTunes by choosing File -> Transfer Purchases.  For all other nonpurchased iTunes content such as music, videos, and photos synced to the device, see this older post from another forum member Zevoneer covering different software available to assist you with this task.

Once the backup has been made and all other synced content such as music, videos, and photos are back in your iTunes library, restore your iPod from that backup you made earlier.  Here is more on backing up and restoring your iPod.

If you do happen to lose any purchased content, you can always redownload it from the iTunes Store again at no cost via iCloud.  See this article for information.

  • I've had this iPad computer thing for a few months now. I used to just put in my password when I downloaded an app or such like. Now it wants me to set up 4 further questions and answers "for added security". How can I return to the old system?

I've had this iPad thing for a few months. It used to just ask me for my password, but now it is demanding I set up four questions and answers for
"added security". I don't want to do that, I just want to carry on as I was but the machine is preventing any app downloads etc.
Seems the stupid machine is in control.
How do I get it to listen when I threaten it with a good thrashing and a one way trip to the garbage unless it does what I say?
    Thanks

Regardless of apple updating something or another. I have no need for the additional questions and really don't want to allow them to bully me into compliance.
You may have no need for additional but Apple does. They don't want your iTunes account to be hacked and then go complaining to them that their security procedures are not up to standards.

So how can I continue in the good old fashioned way?
Its really absurd to even ask this in light of the information that you have been given already. The "old fashioned" way is gone. It's Apple's store, Apples's rules and IMO - its a wise decision on Apple's part.
You do not have to comply at all, but you will not be able to purchase from iTunes anymore, but nobody is going to force you to do something that you do not want to do.

  • Does iCloud backup the operating system? and how do I back up the operating system.

I have heard you can backup the operating system on iCloud. I have not been able to find documentation on how to backup the operating system. thanks mknmemries54
now sure which operating system I have. It's a new one but not retenal display

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
You cannot use iCloud to back up your computer.
Can I suggest you get yourself an external hard drive and start using Time Machine or another back up utility. Data loss is often sudden and unexpected and far too late to do anything about in many cases.

  • T-code : CRMC_R3_ORG_GENERATE, How can I link to the target system??

    Hi, everyone.
First of all, Thanks for your reading my message with my heart.
We are facing the critical problem.
We want to download the customer master in R3 system to CRM(BBP600), but the problem is that there is no SALES AREA DATA!! (we need the sales office value for some reason.)
Basically, CRM is linked to R/3(domestic system) and the customer data we want to download is in another R/3(Foreign GmbH system)
we thought that the reason is there's no DIST,Channel and Division in PPOMA_CRM.
so, we excuted the transaction, CRMC_R3_ORG_GENERATE to download the sales area organization,
but the system we saw was not that we hope to link.
How can we set the destination we hope to link for T-code CRMC_R3_ORG_GENERATE ?!?!
If somebody know the procedure to connect to R/3(Foreign GmbH system), Please help us
I really appreciate your help in advance.
    Thanks
    Best rgds,
    Hyo-ki

    Thank you for your reply.
Before reading your advice, We delete all site ID and created new site ID for Foreign GmbH.
after that, now we can connect to that system, and we can see the list of R3 sales area data.
But, when we excuted the 'Creation' button, the system showed us red alert status in the bottom list screen of .CRMC_R3_ORG_GENERATE. T_T
We already have the dist.channel code list and division code list for R3(domestic) in CRM,
and another R3(Foreign) has the same codes list for Dist.channel and division.
    for example,
    R3(domestic) has customer code - 200341, and its sales area is 1000 / 20 / 10, and
    R3(Foreign) has the same customer code - 345201, and its sales area is 4100 / 20 / 10.
so, I think the same codes of dis.channel and division causes that system showed red alert.
    am I correct??
then, Is there any good strategy to maintain Customer master data (or any master data) in TWO R/3 systems with only one CRM
using each dist.channel and division(the same code) ?

  • How can I back up the contacts on this windows phone

I just purchased the iPhone and need to back up the contacts fro the windows phone.  How can I do this?

They automatically sync to your Hotmail when you add them, if you use your Hotmail address.  As for your contacts from Facebook and other social media that show up, those of course are part of that social media account. One other thing.  If you have Windows 8.1, your contacts are backed up automatically (as are your texts, your list of apps, etc.) so that if you need to restore, update, or get another Windows Phone, you'll have them made available to you again.

  • How can i re-install the operating system without deleting my files on the computer

I'm Trying to re-install the operating system on my macbook, and i dont know, if i can only re-install the OS without deleting the Data on the computer.

If the Snow Leopard version on your Snow Leopard DVD is lower than the Snow Leopard version on your computer, you will NOT in any case be able to re-install the OS the way you want it. You will only be able to erase your disk and then reinstall the OS.
It will only "upgrade" and keep your files if the Mac OS X version of your Snow Leopard DVD is newer than the Snow Leopard version on your computer.

  • How can ID automatically change the business system while importing?

    Hi gurus,
There are many scenarios in our PI system. It will be a tedious work if we don't use transport system(CTS+).
You know we have to create the scenarios manually in Integration Directory since the business system is different.
The question is as below (BTW:We are using local SLD for dev, qas, prd separately):
If we don't use transport system, and only use export and import functionality, and create business system group, can we make the ID automatically change the name of business system while importing?

    Hi Xinjiang,
    You can follow below method.
In Quality system transport targets will be DEV(Dev pi system) ---> QEA(Quality PI system)
In Production system transport targets will be DEV(Dev pi system) ---> PEA(Production PI system)
This will ensure that you does not need to create separate request in Quality system. You can use the same request created in Dev to transport to production system. This will reduce your efforts of transportation. This is the same type of approach that is followed in ECC system as well or next solution is creating transport target in each sld system as you mentioned below,
we have three local SLD, so we need to create TS and BS for PI DEV in SLD QAS, and create TS and BS for PI QAS in SLD PRD,
Following link will help you for defining transport target.

  • I dont want to sync my desktop with my iPad. How can I NOT sync the two systems?

I want to use Firefox on my iPad, but DO NOT want it sync with my desk top. I.E., I want to use it as a stand alone app! Can this be done?

Is the Android version also Firefox 28?
Firefox 29 has a new version of Sync and once a Sync account has been updated to the new Sync, it is '''not''' compatible with Firefox 28 and earlier.

  • I recently broke my laptop and had to replace it.  How can I back up the things on my iPhone before attempting to sync it so that I do not lose everything?

It wouldn't be such a huge deal if all of my music was from iTunes but I've gotten it from several different places and I really don't want to lose all of it.  I'm not very techy so any help that's explained very thoroughly would be appreciated.  Also I don't want to lose my texts or anything else I have on my phone right now.  I've tried clicking the backup to this computer option on iTunes but when I tried to add a movie that I purchased on my laptop to my phone and sync it, it said that my phone was synced with another computer and it would erase my phone first.  Any help is appreciated.  Thanks!

It has always been very basic to always maintain a backup copy of your computer for just such an occasion.  Use your backup to put everything on the new computer.

  • If I connect one or two ext HD to my MacBook, does TiCaps backup and update the whole system?

I would like to organize my new MacBookPro in this way: an external HD for my photographs, another for my music and documents on internal HD.
I am going to buy Time Capsule to back up the whole system. Might it work? Thank you all.

In addition to Kappy's comments, you will need to insure that the hard drive is formatted correctly to work with Time Machine and the Time Capsule.
That would be Mac OS Extended (Journaled).
Unless the hard drive is specifically sold for use with Macs, it will probably be pre- formatted for Windows, so you will need to use Disk Utility to format the drive before you use it.
Disk Utility is located as follows: Macintosh HD > Applications > Utilities > Disk Utility
