How can I batch delete playlists?

When I added my music to iTunes, it created a playlist for every subfolder in my media directory and now I have a playlist for each artist. Since it's indexed by artist anyway this seems silly. Please help, I have hundreds of playlists I don't want. The only way I can see to delete them is by selecting each individually in the side pane and pressing the delete key. Is there a faster way? I'm new to iTunes, but familiar with my computer's directory structure. I have iTunes version 10.5.2.11.

I suspect you are suffering with a recent bug/change of behaviour with respect to .m3u files. Previously these were ignored when scanning folders. A second bug (since repaired) meant that at one time the new playlists were created for each .m3u file, but no tracks were are actually added to it.
I've wrote a couple of scripts to help with the initial problems:
KillEmptyPlaylists - Cleans up any empty playlists that iTunes created while scanning your folders.
ImportM3U - Imports any M3U playlists that you want to import.
It ought to be possible to tweak KillEmptyPlaylists in some fashion, assuming there is some easy way to distinguish the playlists that you want to delete from those that should be kept. How many do you want to keep? For instance if all the keepers could be shifted into a folder then deleting all the remaining top level playlists might be quite easy. Inspecting each playlist and deleting those that only feature tracks by a single artist is feasible, but could get become complicated if Artist and Album Artist haven't been used completely consistently.
Going forward, you might find using iTunes Folder Watch prefereable to using iTunes to rescan its own folders, assuming that is what you are doing.
Also you could search and destroy any .m3u files in your media folders that you no longer have a use for.

The iTouch does have a Camera Roll. That is for pictures taken with the iPod. If you take a picture with the iPod the Camera Roll will show up. In your case you are talking about pictures taken elsewhere and synced to the iPod. To remove them, simply delete them from your SyncIpod folder on your PC using Windows Explorer, sync the iPod, and they will be gone.

Are you connecting to a different iTunes library than you normally connect to? That will erase the songs and playlists since the iPhone can't be connected to multiple libraries even if it is in manual sync mode.
If you no longer have access to the original library that your iPhone calls 'home', then the only way to save the playlist (and the songs on your iPhone) would be to use a 3rd party application to extract your iPhone contents to this new iTunes library you're trying to connect to.

Take a look at my FindTracks script. Download it and test it out on a few tracks first. Use the No option first time around to manually confirm each path that it wants to fix so you can see how it works. When you're happy it does what you want select a larger group of tracks to process automatically.

I would add that if you don't want to delete the photos from your computer and want them off your iPad, then (1) create a duplicate folder of the photos to be deleted on your computer (select the folder, then cmd-D), (2) rename the duplicate to something else (thus retaining your computer's photos under a different name), and (3) opening the original folder--the one that was synced to the iPad originally -- and drag its contents to trash. Don't drag the FOLDER to trash---drag its CONTENTS to trash. Now resync this empty folder to your iPad. The photos on the iPad will go away, but you still have them on your computer. I know this is clunky but it works. It sure your be nice to allow you to delete individual photos from a synced folder on the iPad! (and iPhone)

The songs can no longer be re-arranged (assuming that's what you meant). I think songs can still be added and deleted.

iCloud does not store messages for you to see/access at icloud.com. It does back up messages so you can restore your iPhone if it ever needs to be reset to factory default. A backup is an image of all your data on the iPhone, and if you delete some messages, then they won't be part of any further backups.
If two people use the same iCloud account, then their devices are kept in sync, just like a single user's multiple devices are kept in sync. It's usually a good idea to have separate accounts for two people, since it's rarely the case that they want each phone to be an exact replica of the other.
Your iphone syncs contacts, events, camera roll, and many other things without the use of a computer.

It sounds like your issue here is that iTunes can not find the files for some of the songs you have brought into it. This happens occasionally even if the songs have not been moved from the location that iTunes places them on import or purchase. When you try to use the song, iTunes prompts you to find the file, as you have seen.
To find the file, use the information in this article to navigate through the iTunes media folders -

How can I correct/delete iOS holidays on iDevice?

I discovered a number of strange entries in iCal on my iDevices which I didn't enter, and also were just on this device and neither my Mac nor the other device.
After a little search I found that my iPhone has a calendar for German holidays and the iPad a calendar for Swiss holidays. This is rather strange as I live in Austria and haven't visited these countries since the time I got these devices (>2 years). These calendars are in the section where also birthdays are and can not be edited or deleted. They also don't show up on iCal on the mac. I also checked the timezone on the devices - but this is set to Vienna - Austria.
So how would I fix them to Austrian holidays? - or at least delete so I won't be irritated by them.

Hi there. I have an iPhone 4, equipped with all of my music from my iTunes library on my MacBook Pro laptop. I often create playlists on my phone (when it is not plugged into the computer). When I went to plug my phone into the laptop to sync some new songs and things, it replaced the playlists I had made on my phone with the ones already on the computer. How can I get the playlists that I had made on my phone back? I really don't want to have to recreate all of those playlists...is their any way to retrieve those playlists? Since this is PC version using XP I'm afraid you'll have to check in on the PC side.
Caution: just say your using XP Home and trying out the trial. Don't mention the word Mac. PC folks, would make you regret doing that. As much as its so 80's and 90's for such behavior its still around.

First get iTunes on your PC. Then plug your iPod in and go to the music, yo. You Cannot sync playlist if you select to sync your entire library. But you can sync playlists of you choose to sync selected songs.
You can also create a playlist on your iPod just by holding the center button on a song and select add to "on the go". This " on the go" is a playlist and will be transfers to your PC if you plug your iPod in again.

If you backed up the iPad after you created the notes, you can restore from the backup to retrieve them. If you didn't backup, the notes are gone.

An old article (http://support.apple.com/kb/TA47831) explained how to export an iTunes playlist to an .m3u file and reimport it. This functionality no longer works with the newer version of iTunes (I'm running iTunes 10.6 on Windows 7). This is presumably why the article has been retired and is no longer supported by Apple.
If I export a playlist, change its name, then reimport the result is an empty playlist. Here is an example of one of the lines from the .m3u file:

As you can see my file is an mp3 on a remote server ("nef") and works perfectly well in the "Music" section of iTunes.
What I really want to do is to import some playlists that have been generated elsewhere (for example using a script to identify all the US hits of the 1980s with the word "power" somewhere in the lyrics). I figured the easiest way to do that would be to work out what format of playlist iTunes would be able to import and generate one of those, I was somewhat surprised to discover that iTunes can't even import a playlist it has just exported.
