How can I batch import images 1 per page?

I need to import images into the same Fireworks file, 1 per page. I have about 60 to do, and I'm hoping there's a better way then just adding them one by one. How can I batch import so that a page is created for each image?

You can use the Import Files into Pages command in this extension: http://johndunning.com/fireworks/about/PageCommands
Just select all the files in the file selection dialog.  They'll be imported one to a page, sorted by their filename.

Do you want to print several different photos per page or multiples of the same photo?
If you want to print several different photos, select them all at once and press command-P for "Print".  Pick the Custom Layout and adjust the photo size suitably.
If you want multiples of the same photo, duplicate the photo several times and select all copies at once, then press command-P.

  • How can I batch compress images on import

    Hi All,
This might not be the right place for this question; if so, apologies in advance.
Since moving 100% to mac, I've been experiencing a workflow problem, and I can't seem to find anything in iPhoto or Automator to help me out.
My camera takes JPG photos with a fixed file size. That is, all of the images are exactly the same file size, no matter what the image is of. It turns out that this is a huge waste of disk space. To get around this on my windows machine, I used to do the following:
    1. Import images to temp folder on my computer.
    2. Use irfanview to batch save all of the images to a different folder, with 90% jpg compression.
    3. Import the resulting files into Picassa.
Doing this would sometimes reduce an image size from the default 4mb to as small as 300kb (average about 800-1200 kb), and made a really big difference to my disk space.
I would like to find something similar on my Mac, but I've been unable to.
All I want to do is to open each image and save it with a predetermined level of compression. And, I'd like to do this either to the photos that are already imported into iPhoto, or to photos before they are imported.
I thought that automator might be able to help, but I cannot find a simple 'save with XX compression' command anywhere (although I can find tasks to import photos to the computer, and then to iPhoto, so it's mostly there).
I can't find any functionality within iPhoto itself to handle this problem.
    Does anyone have any suggestions?

Welcome to the Apple Discussions. You do know that when you compress the jpgs to the 90% level you're reducing the image quality of the file considerably, right? That being said, the only way to do what you want is what you did on the darkside, compress before importing into iPhoto.
There are some resizing apps than you can set to just compress the quality level and leave the pixel dimension alone. Renamer4Mac is one. You can find more by searching at VersionTracker.com for "resize".
What with the large HDs that come in the Macs and the availability of large, inexpensive external HDs, resizing before importing into iPhoto is considered by many to be penny wise but pound foolish.

  • Can see only one photo per page. How to revert to multiple images per page?

First noticed on my iMac and now on my Macbook (10.4.9)--I'm no longer seeing a month's worth of photos on a single page. Only one photo per page, sometimes with miniature ones in the top border. I thought it was simply an inadvertent click on by part and easily corrected. But all attempts on both computers and reading of Help index haven't led to restoration of an entire page of photos and elimination of the annoyance. I'm wondering now if something I downloaded might have altered iPhoto program itself, making it impossible to view large numbers of photos at the same time. Any suggestions appreciated.
    Cap

    Cap,
This view, with the one photo big and the thumbnail strip across the top, is what happens when you double-click a photo with "Edit in: Main Window" set in the Preferences. There should be a button visible that says either Done or Return, to exit edit mode and return you to the library. If you still see only one photo, use the size slider in the lower right corner to reduce the photo size and get more thumbnails on the page.
If, for some reason, you can't exit the edit mode, you may have a corrupt preference file. Quit iPhoto. Use the Finder to navigate to Macintosh HD/ Users/ (your user name)/ Library/ Preferences/ com.apple.iPhoto.plist and move that file to the Trash. Launch iPhoto, and you should be returned to the main viewing mode. You'll have to go in the Preferences and reset them to your liking.
    Regards.

  • How can I automatically import images into iBook Author?

I'd like to make a photo book with a couple hundred photos.
Aside from manually inserting each page, inserting each image, placing/resizing it on the page, is there an easier way to insert many images, and flow them one per page?
    thanks in advance

There is no built-in support for automatic inserts, sorry.
I can imagine whipping up an Autormator/AppleScript to do that job, however - in which case success lies in your abilities to put that together, of course.

  • How can I print more photos per page?

    Hi
I have an HP Photosmart printer
When I send an email with a photo attachment to my eprinter it prints the photo 1/4 of an A4 page for each photo. This is ok, and great quality, but it means i'm using a while peice of photo paper for each photo. Even if i flip the paper and reuse it I'm still only utilising 1/2 the A4 page leaving 1/2 wasted. I have two important question.
    1. Is it possible to set the printer up to prlint a photo at full a4 size?
    2. Is it piossible for the printer to print 4 photos per a4 page?
    Thanks in advance.
    Henry

    Hello theatty,
If you are using the ePrint service to print photos here is what you need to know. ePrint settings can be changed by logging into ePrintCenter, and selecting print options on the left side of the ePrint panel. Here you will find settings for color options and paper size. Print options only apply to documents not photos. Here is the answer for question 1 Photo files will always be printed in 4x6. Here is the answer for question 2 currently there are no ePrint options to print multiple photos on 1 page.

  • How can I correctly import images to Lightroom?

Before installing Adobe Creative Cloud, I deleted Adobe Elements and all files in My Pictures on my hard drive so I could start fresh. I copied groups of images from CS5 Bridge on my old pc onto an empty flashdrive and tried to import them to Lightroom. In addition to those copied images, whole bunches of other images imported. Even worse, those added images were sorted strangely, not even belonging to the groups as I had them in my old pc.

  • How can I batch resize images to a file size of 1 meg?

I'm not the most technically literate mac user and would gratefully receive any help please.
I have been asked to reduce lots of images of various large file sizes and dimensions to 1 meg. I am using Photoshop CS4 and am aware of the 'Image Processor' function under 'scripts' unfortunately it only allows me to adjust the image dimensions, but I need to reduce the file size so that every image is 1 meg and at 300 dpi, it doesn't matter about the image dimensions.
    Thanks so much!
    Jess

You omitted to name the file format you want to use.
If you use any compression the task is far less trivial than you might think.
Trying to predict the effect of the compression (even if it were non-destructive) is not always sensible so the viable approach may be to save, check file size, if above intended one change dimensions, save, check file size etc.
I think I have come across thread/s on this in the Scripting Forum but I can’t remember anyone ever posting a finalised Script for this.

  • How can I bulk import word and pages documents to wiki

I have 300 GB of documents currently held in a file share. I would like to import them all into a wiki as documents and then task the document owners with annotating the documents. Is there any bulk import method (shell or applescript are fine) that the community knows of?

    Tom,
In the end, I installed Alfresco on our mac mini server and imported all the files into that. There are a few rough edges but it has good integration with MS Office (looks like a SharePoint server) and offers web access to remote workers. I managed to use Open Directory for user and group accounts so no additional users to set up.

  • How can I create a one image per page caption sheet that includes the description in Bridge?

I am trying to find a way to create a one-image-per-page caption sheet for my workflow. I currently place each image into Word and copy the description onto the document, then repeat for each image. I am hoping that there is a way to automate this process using Bridge. I know that it can be done using Lightroom, however, that is not currently an option for me. Is this something that can be done or am I bound, like Sisyphus to Microsoft Word? I have a very limited grasp of scripting, but I feel like this is possible.
    Thanks for any help.

To create a NetBoot image, you could just put the cluster node in target mode and attach it to your PowerBook. Then use SIU to create the NetBoot image.
If you're trying to create a backup image of the disk, use hdiutil, or put in in target mode and create the image with Disk Utility.

  • How can I manually attach images from my photo booth (imported into iPhoto) to emails? Auto function, in photo booth has my photos lying sideways?

How can I manually attach images from my photo booth to iCloud emails?
They are imported as 'events' into my iphoto library.
Auto function, in photo booth has my photos lying sideways when placed in 'mail' emails?

There are many, many ways to access your files in iPhoto:   You can use any Open / Attach / Browse dialogue. On the left there's a Media heading, your pics can be accessed there. Command-Click for selecting multiple pics.
(Note the above illustration is not a Finder Window. It's the dialogue you get when you go File -> Open)
You can access the Library from the New Message Window in Mail:
There's a similar option in Outlook and many, many other apps.  If you use Apple's Mail, Entourage, AOL or Eudora you can email from within iPhoto.
If you use a Cocoa-based Browser such as Safari, you can drag the pics from the iPhoto Window to the Attach window in the browser.
If you want to access the files with iPhoto not running:
For users of 10.6 and later:  You can download a free Services component from MacOSXAutomation  which will give you access to the iPhoto Library from your Services Menu.
Using the Services Preference Pane you can even create a keyboard shortcut for it.
For Users of 10.4 and 10.5 Create a Media Browser using Automator (takes about 10 seconds) or use this free utility Karelia iMedia Browser
    Other options include:
Drag and Drop: Drag a photo from the iPhoto Window to the desktop, there iPhoto will make a full-sized copy of the pic.
File -> Export: Select the files in the iPhoto Window and go File -> Export. The dialogue will give you various options, including altering the format, naming the files and changing the size. Again, producing a copy.
Show File:  a. On iPhoto 09 and earlier:  Right- (or Control-) Click on a pic and in the resulting dialogue choose 'Show File'. A Finder window will pop open with the file already selected.    3.b.
b: On iPhoto 11 and later: Select one of the affected photos in the iPhoto Window and go File -> Reveal in Finder -> Original. A Finder window will pop open with the file already selected.

Hold command shift 4 and draw a box around what you want and then click again, on your desktop a .png file will appear.
To convert it to jpeg, open it in Preview and Save as.

  • On CS5, how can I recover jpeg images that were Batch Renamed prior to removal from my flashcard?

On CS5, how can you recover JPEG images that were accidentally Batch Renamed prior to removal from a flash card? Is it a total lose or can they be saved somehow?

If they were renamed on the flash card that is a poor practice.  If renamed in Bridge the old names can be recovered it you have checked "preserve original name in XMP".  If not you are out of luck.  But you still have the images correct?
