How Can I Batch Separate iCal Events Into Separate Calendars?

iMac G4
10.4.11
Six months ago I transferred 21,000 calendar items from Chronos Personal Organizer 4.5.0 to iCal. Except for the snail crawl speed, I am very pleased with iCal. CPO operated very quickly with the same 21,000 calendar items. I hope to solve the poor-speed issue by purchasing a new Intel iMac later this year. Fingers crossed.
The transfer process deposited all 21,000 calendar items into a single calendar named "Kurt". Last week I renamed this calendar to "Kurt - Home". I created a new calendar that is named "Kurt - Work". I transferred all of my work specific calendar events from "Kurt - Home" to "Kurt - Work" for the past six months. I accomplished this by clicking on each calendar event, and then clicking on the calendar pulldown menu and selecting "Kurt - Work". Is there a way that I can select multiple calendar events simultaneously, and then transfer them to "Kurt - Work" in one click?
Thank you.

You need to sign into your iCloud account on your Mac, and check the Calendar option. System Preferences>iCloud, sign on your iCloud account, check the apps you want to sync with your device.

  • How can I permanently delete an event from my Calendar?

Today I visited the NASA website and I made an event from there that went to my iPad calendar. I decided to delete it afterwards but each time I delete the event it reappears every time I launch the app. How can I permently delete this event without it reappearing through iCloud?  Thanks.
    Tommy V.

You can't permanently delete it because it isn't stored in your iCloud account.  The cloud symbol next to iBooks deleted in iBooks is a link to the iBooks store allowing you to redownload it from the iBooks store.  This list of previously purchased iBooks cannot be deleted.  To avoid seeing them, click on Collections rather than All Books.

  • How can non-visible orphan iCal events be deleted?

Bear with me, this is going to sound very confusing.
I have reported this via the iCal feedback on Apple's Product Feedback main page:
    http://www.apple.com/feedback/
but nothing has changed (not surprising, but more on that later).
My wife publishes her calendar from her computer to MobileMe via iCal (version 3.0.8 on OS X 10.5.8). I subscribe to it on my computer via iCal (version 4.0 on OS X 10.6.1). In her iCal and my iCal, all appears OK. But when I view her published calendar in a web browser (right-click in iCal to "Show Calendar on MobileMe") two orphan all-day events appear (one on 20 October and one on 27 October). And since her calendar appears in my iCal, her calendar appears on my iPhone (OS 3.1.2) AND those two orphan events appear on the iPhone. When the wife logs into her MobileMe account via the web interface and views her calendar, the two orphan events DO NOT appear. Since the two events do not appear to her she can not delete them. But they are cluttering up my iPhone calendar display!
    To recap:
    The two orphan events appear:
    - on my iPhone in the Calendar app
    - via a web browser on my Mac
The two orphan events DO NOT appear:
    - on wife's iCal
    - on wife's MobileMe account
    - my iCal via subscription to wife's calendar
The wife did a Sync reset. No change. She unpublished her calendar and I unsubscribed. After waiting 3 days, she published her calendar again, I then re-subscribed. The two orphan events re-appeared but can't be deleted since they don't appear in her iCal or MobileMe account.
    So, there are two questions:
    1. How does she delete these orphan events since she can not see them?
    2. How does my iPhone get them since they don't appear in my iCal and why do they appear via a web browser if they don't appear for her?
I mentioned earlier that I've reported this via Apple's feedback page. I have reported many iCal publish and subscribe problems over the past year. But I have decided that no one at Apple actually ever sees this feedback. Why do I think that? Because, not only have I reported problems with the application, I have also reported problems with the feedback page itself. For example, the latest version of iCal shown on the page is 3.0. How long has 4.0 been out? Also, the page still references ".Mac". Huh? Gee, I thought that was re-branded to MobileMe a long time ago. Since Apple has not updated the feedback page, no one at Apple must be monitoring feedback submitted via those pages, or perhaps they just don't care anymore about their Product Feedback pages. At least, that is the impression they give.
Thanks for the time and any suggestions on how to get the two orphan events to go away. --Mike

    Wish I could help.
Instead, I'll simply let you know that you are not alone. The only difference is that I have an orphan calendar that appears on my iPhone.
Said calendar does NOT appear in iCal on my MBP NOR does it appear in Mobile Me.
I do not sync via iTunes.
I would LOVE to know how to delete it as it creates duplicate events for me.

  • How can I make new iCal events default to 1 hour long?

Please help me love my iCal again.  How can I set it up so that the default for a new event is an hour long instead of EIGHT?!?  Why on earth does iCal think a new event should be eight hours long?  It's especially annoying at night.  Add a new event at 9PM and iCal sets an end for 5AM and rolls it into the next day, which means I have to change the end time and change the end date every time I add a new event.
Seriously, who designed this thing?  Here's a perfect example of bad design (which, coming from Apple is shocking!): In the menu, click New Event.  Does iCal create a new event?  No.  It draws a box arrow pointing to the big plus sign.  Are we sure Microsoft didn't design this thing?
I'm a diehard Mac Guy for over 17 years.  But I must say, I'm disappointed with some aspects of Lion.  Yikes.  (sorry...  I needed to vent!)

I probably should have noted that I'm using iCal in the month view.  Maybe that's why my iCal thinks every new event is eight hours long?  The previous iCal didn't behave this way.
And, yes, a menu item titled New Event that opens a box where I can create a new event rather than actually creating a New Event is bad design.  It adds extra steps.  It feels like a Microsoft thing where you click on something and then get asked if that's really what you wanted to do.  When I click New Event, I want a new event to open so I can input the details including calenrar, alarm, repeating data, notes, etc.  Sure, if I wanted a quick option, I'd go for the + sign to add one.  But when it comes to having to change calendars or add extra info, making me go through extra steps is poor design.
There's a lot to like in the new iCal, but pushing the app away from design simplicity for VISUAL simplicity is poor design for a desktop OS app.  On a three inch screen like the iPhone, it makes perfect sense.  It's brilliant, in fact.  But on a desktop OS?  I completely understand the idea of merging iOS with OS X, but a motorcycle is not a tractor trailer even though they both have engines.  To treat them as such is poor design.
Another example: in iCal, it's easy to hide calendars you may not need to see.  That's a great feature.  In the previous iCal, there was a pane that showed which calendars were visible and which were not.  Now, if you're looking at a month, you have no way of seeing that there may also be more events that are hidden without clicking the calendars for a popup to display which are visible and which are not.  I'm no Mac basher.  I have a series of the black & white "Think Different" prints framed and hanging on my walls.  I love Apple, but the new iCal is poor design.

  • How can I make a imovie event into email size segments

I recorded a 24 minute bicycle ride and the reults were good.
I imported the AVI file event into Imovie and the file is now a wopping Mpeg 4   3.78 GB.   HD 1280 x 720.
I tried to share the file to email to some friends (or a segment of) but was far to big.
I tried to split clip but no matter what I do that modify menu item remains in light grey and that menu item can not be used.
In a past version I manged to do this on an earlier release. Currently I am using Imovie 10.0.2 which comes up as the currnet version.
I also now have a "Share Failed" alarm "The share operation "Theatre-SUNPRO0003" has failed. Video rendering error: -50" come up every time I use IMovie and I can not get rid of it as it keeps popping up every minute and is very anoying.
I also had the computer slow down considerably and found the problem was Drop box  austomatically started uploading the huge file as did ICloud to begin with.
Any assistance would be of great help.
Computer is a 2009 MacPro with 10 gig memory and using OS X 10.9.1 and pretty fast internet connection.
    Regards
    Barry

iMovie does not allow any editing or splitting of clips in events.  You can only do this in a timeline.  Consequently if you want to split or shorten a clip you have to do it before importing into iMovie.  Quicktime 7 or Quicktime 10 are able to do this.
Your movie is very big becasue of the high resolution.  You can make it smaller using a lower resolution.  There is a share to email option.   I would not share to Theater - it creates several different version s of the movie and slows things down a lot.
If you only want to share the movie at original resolution and not do any editing, why not simply upload it directly to Dropbox (i.e. not via iMovie) , splitting it first if your Dropbox capacity is not big enough?
    Geoff.

  • How can I copy and paste events in the calendar?

Does anyone know how to cut and paste or copy and past events in the calendar?  The events happen at different times and on different days so I can't just "repeat".  Thanks in advance!

In Calendar, tap the event, tap Edit, then change the Starts date you want the event to move to.

  • How can I restore deleted iCal events without removing current events?

I have just discovered that iCal on my Laptop has been deleting events older than 30 days (as per the default), even though it's supposed to be syncing via MobileMe with my iMac which has this disabled.
I have made backups and exports from iCal in the past. The former, iCal backup files, will apparently overwrite the whole calendar and restore it back to that point in time, which is surely rather useless? If there's a way to use one of these files without deleting new events, then please let me know.
I did import a previous export taken in August 2007, but that still leaves a large gap.
I have also been backing my iMac up in TimeMachine for the past year - is there a way to restore my Calendar this way without reverting new events?

    Hi crcamp1,
If you have multiple backups, your previous backup may still be available.  Details are found in this article.
Create and delete iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch backups in iTunes - Apple Support
    Where your backups are stored
The folder where your backup data is stored depends on your computer's operating system. Make sure the backup folder is included in your data-backup routine. iTunes places the backup files in these places:
    Mac: ~/Library/Application Support/MobileSync/Backup/
The "~" represents your Home folder. If you don't see Library in your Home folder, hold Option and click the Go menu.
    Windows Vista, Windows 7, and Windows 8: \Users\(username)\AppData\Roaming\Apple Computer\MobileSync\Backup\
To quickly access the AppData folder, click Start. In the search bar, type %appdata%, then press Return.
    Windows XP: \Documents and Settings\(username)\Application Data\Apple Computer\MobileSync\Backup\
To quickly access the Application Data folder, click Start, then choose Run. In the search bar, type %appdata%, then click OK.
Restoring is further discussed at the bottom of this article.

  • How can i add a new event in my calendar for the new IOS 5?

I cant seem to add a new event on my iPhone 4 with the new iOS 5. I read the you are suppose to tap and hold the day you want to add an event, but that doesnt seem to work for me.

It works for me when I tap and hold my finger over the day seeing the month or week, when the phone is turned sideways. Maybe you should keep the finger a little longer on the screen to hold.

  • How can i insert an ical feed to my Sharepoint calendar overlay?

    Hi
I'm looking for a way I can add an ical feed from our booking software to a Sharepoint calendar so that I can overlay it with our resource calendar.  I can add an internet calendar to Outlook but I can't seem to find a way to add the live ical feed
    to a Sharepoint calendar.
I found a very useful link on code project dot com called "Insert iCal Events into Sharepoint Calendar" but it only works when you can load from a file not a live rss feed.  The feed from our booking software is along the lines of webcal://company.checkfront.co.uk/view/bookings/ics/?id=bbbaac1e16263a6e99189d686147e35a1f890d9dd48f7895c452871a2c6f1e48
Any ideas would be most appreciated,

Unfortunately, there is no way to directly import a .ics calendar into your SharePoint calendar. What you could do is import that calendar into Outlook and then set up a synchronization between SharePoint and Outlook and then you will have access to the
    calendar in SharePoint.
    or
May be you can add it to a calendar using below  and then add that calendar to overlay

We are all entitled to our own opinions. So I respect you there brother
But then again, Apple has its own basis. iOS is what's selling like pancakes not Macs, so if the gazillions out there are using iOS device and have gotten used to the calendar in their iOS devices. Wouldn't you think it made sense if Lion has the same calendar look and feel?
Everything was considered and weighthed when they developed Lion. They even mentioned it in the press, They were blown away with the success of iOS so they are extending it to OSX.
Quite frankly, I like the old iCal but yeah I don't expect anything in SL to stay in Lion otherwise it'll be another Cat name related to Leopard
People should start looking at this perspective and not get STUCK in the old OS.

  • My iphone has calendar history for 10 years.  my icloud only shows about 6-8 weeks back.  how can i get icloud to show all the calendar events in the past that are on iphone?

my iphone has calendar history for 10 years.  my icloud only shows about 6-8 weeks back.  how can i get icloud to show all the calendar events in the past that are on iphone?

I encountered a similar problem when finally (and with much regret) I was obliged to migrate my MobileMe to iCloud last month.
Many years of iCal history vanished without trace during this automated transition by Apple and iCloud then kindly synched the resulting vacuum back to iCal on my Mac.
Fortunately, iCloud wasn’t able to decimate iCal on my other Macs because (1) they are still running Snow and (2) I had switched them off as a precaution.  Good job I did.
My solution was to export my iCal data on one of those other Macs to a backup file – then I imported that backup file into my Lion-updated Mac’s iCal. That restored all the iCloud-deleted iCal data back on to my Mac and this was promptly synched automatically to my Calendar on iCloud.  So now it’s all there and showing.
Perhaps you could do something similar?  In the meantime, be very careful not to let iCloud’s amnesia get synched to your iPhone (and other devices).
Experience has taught me never to trust an “upgrade” until it is proven to be working correctly and always to keep in reserve another Mac with a properly-functioning system and all synching to it switched off...
