How can I bring my Mac 24'' abroad???
I am moving to China to work abroad and want my Apple Computer with me! Sorry if the questions is not under the correct subject too...
1) How can I take it over there safely? Can I use it as a carry-on?
2) Does the Apple store provide boxes like the ones they contain their products in?
Thanks for the help and answers. I probably should ask the airline, but I wanted to see if anyone else has done this before...
Monitors are easy to ship you need to pack them well (ideally in the original boxes) inform the airline that you will be shipping a second item in the hold (they often charge these days for hold luggage). They are too big to be shipped as a carry on item.
When you arrive in the country o you are traveling to make sure you have the original receipt or proof of purchase, if you cannot prove that it was tax paid elsewhere and is second hand you may be billed for import duty

How can i bring my mac back to factory condition?
how can i bring my mac back to factory condition?
Insert its original install DVD, restart with the C key held down, use the Disk Utility to erase the internal drive, and install a new OS on it. If you're going to be selling or giving away the computer, throw any files which may contain sensitive data in the Trash and securely empty it first, and include the disks with it.

If you have a Mid 2010 model: Computers that can be upgraded to use OS X Internet Recovery. If later then see below:
Install Mavericks, Lion/Mountain Lion Using Internet Recovery
Be sure you backup your files to an external drive or second internal drive because the following procedure will remove everything from the hard drive.
Boot to the Internet Recovery HD:
Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND-OPTION- R keys until a globe appears on the screen. Wait patiently - 15-20 minutes - until the Recovery main menu appears.
Partition and Format the hard drive:
Select Disk Utility from the main menu and click on the Continue button.
After DU loads select your newly installed hard drive (this is the entry with the mfgr.'s ID and size) from the left side list. Click on the Partition tab in the DU main window.
Under the Volume Scheme heading set the number of partitions from the drop down menu to one. Click on the Options button, set the partition scheme to GUID then click on the OK button. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Partition button and wait until the process has completed. Quit DU and return to the main menu.
Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion. Mavericks: Select Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion, Mavericks and click on the Install button. Be sure to select the correct drive to use if you have more than one.
Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet if possible because it is three times faster than wireless.
If you have an earlier model:
Clean Install of Snow Leopard
1. Boot the computer using the Snow Leopard Installer Disc or the Disc 1 that came
with your computer. Insert the disc into the optical drive and restart the computer.
After the chime press and hold down the "C" key. Release the key when you see
a small spinning gear appear below the dark gray Apple logo.
2. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue
button. When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu.
After DU loads select the hard drive entry from the left side list (mfgr.'s ID and drive
size.) Click on the Partition tab in the DU main window. Set the number of
partitions to one (1) from the Partitions drop down menu, click on Options button
and select GUID, click on OK, then set the format type to MacOS Extended
(Journaled, if supported), then click on the Apply button.
3. When the formatting has completed quit DU and return to the installer. Proceed
with the OS X installation and follow the directions included with the installer.
4. When the installation has completed your computer will Restart into the Setup
Assistant. Be sure you configure your initial admin account with the exact same
username and password that you used on your old drive. After you finish Setup
Assistant will complete the installation after which you will be running a fresh
install of OS X. You can now begin the update process by opening Software
Update and installing all recommended updates to bring your installation current.

How can I bring my photo library from my desktop or external HDrive into aperture itself
Good morning,
How can I bring my photolibrary from the desctop or external harddrive into Aperture itself?Marcus,
is the Aperture version on your new Mac Aperture 3.5.1?
the contents of aperture on to a external drive
Is that your old Aperture library? Does it look like this?
If it is an Aperture library, that you copied to your Desktop, click it to open it in Aperture. Aperture should update/upgrade it to your current Aperture version. What happens, when you try?
If it is not an Aperture library, but a folder of referenced images files, search for your old Aperture library and transfer that to your new mac.
Do you already have an Aperture library on your new mac and want to import/ merge your old library into it? Then You first need to let Aperture upgrade the old library to your current Aperture version, before you can import and merge the library with "File > Import > LIbrary".
Could you perhaps post a screen capture of what you are now having on your Desktop? And any exact error messages that you might get, when you are trying to open your Aperture library? -

how can I reformat my MAC BOOK leopard, disc 1 and 2 are working.
Put the first OS X 10.5 Leopard disk in the system, and reboot holding the c key down. On the menu bar, under Utilities, bring up Disk Utility. If you want to erase the hard drive, under options do a secure erase, which will write zero's to the hard drive.

When I put a burned cd from one Mac into another Mac, song titles do not show up! I have to enter them manually! My CD player reads the titles that i on the cd; how can I get my Mac to do so?
The problem is that I burned these CD's myself from music that I added from my personal collection to iTunes. The INFO is ON the CD's (it appears perfectly when I put the CD in my Numark mixer...so I know the info is on the CD), but for some reason, my MAC PRO will NOT read the info on the burned CD when I place the CD into the MAC PRO. The CD was burned on a MAC that I no longer own. But there HAS to be a way to transfer songs from a burned CD with the INFO that is on the CD burned with iTunes.
PLEASE HELP!

How can I connect my Mac Book Pro (year 2008) to the TV set through HDMI? I've seen a DVI to HDMI iwire but I'm no sure that it is correct. Could anyone help me? Thank you very much.
I do not know the iWire adapter, but I use an inexpensive ($3) DVI to HDMI adapter from Monoprice, along with a regular HDMI cable:
http://www.monoprice.com/products/product.asp?c_id=104&cp_id=10419&cs_id=1041902 &p_id=2029&seq=1&format=2
Be aware that this will only transfer video. You Macbook Pro cannot combine audio through DVI to HDMI. You will need to listen to the audio through the Mac speakers, or attach speakers or a sound system to the Mac earphone jack, or determine if your TV has the ability to accept external sound from the Mac while showing video through HDMI (few can). -
How can I see one mac from another mac?
I have two macs, an imac at home and a MBPro.
If I have them both at home, how can I see one Mac´s hard drive from another?
Is this possible? with back to my mac??
thanks
JDo you have a home network?
Personal File Sharing: You can connect Macs on a local network with Tiger’s Personal File Sharing, which allows you to mount folders from the sharing Mac on the master Mac—note that the slave Macs do the sharing; the master Mac doesn’t have to. To turn on Personal File Sharing on the slave Mac, do this:
Open System Preferences.
In the System Preferences window, click Sharing.
In the Sharing pane, click Services.
In the Select a Service to Change Its Settings list, select the Personal File Sharing checkbox.
Now that the slave Mac has sharing turned on, you can mount it on the master Mac’s Desktop:
In the Finder, choose Go -> Network.
In the Network window, select the sharing Mac.
Click Connect.
In the Connect to Server window, click Registered User, enter the user account name and password for the sharing Mac, and then click Connect.
In the window that appears, select the volume that contains the folder you want to sync with, and then click OK.

How can i get my mac book pro to recognize a JVC camcorder?
How can I get my mac book pro to recognize a JVC camcorder using a Sony CAMERA USB cord??
Gotta say thank you — again. Sorry the posts were spread out over more than one location. I'll check and see if Third Party Software is considered a "peripheral", maybe that would have been a better single thread choice?
Definitely news we can use and the reference link is appreciated.
OT ~ We keep becoming more and more aware of how easy it is to lose one's bearings when it comes to keeping up with info tech. My husband and I are both official members of the geezer set and have been out of the work force for some years. You really do pick up so much just by being in the environment where people are using things to get work done. A couple of old MP3 players, PPC G5, and a vintage Inspiron 3800 that someone didn't want any more is about it. No cell phone, no iPod, no iPad, no home wireless network, no streaming media. Fixed income. So we do with what we can as long as we can. If we could get by without that Intel processor, we'd probably make do with what we've got. On the other hand, we've really wanted a notebook for a very long time and have to admit that needing to upgrade to accomodate my husband's project is pretty much just the "reason" we need. I really mean it when I say that we are beyond appreciative that users take the time to share info and patiently educate those of us who fall into the "slow tech" category. -
