How can I burn my copy of Lion to a disc after downloading it?

Is the downloaded copy or image of Lion stored somewhere on my HD?

Press the "option" key while you select the "Purchased" tab and select "OS X Lion", it should from "Installed" to "Install".
I made the mistake of keying alt/option whilst Purchased was selected (highlighted), expecting:
a press of the key to cause the word Installed to change to Install
a relase of the key to cause the word Install to change to Installed.
It took me a few hours to figure out my mistake. It's necessary to press and hold alt/option before clicking the word Purchased; and not release the key until after the Install buttons appear. Even then, in response to this the App Store:
sometimes offers the Install button for OS X Lion alone, within a long list of apps that are Installed
sometimes states You have not purchased any apps.
once offered the Install button for everything in a short list of apps — then for as long as I waited, all other purchased apps were missing from the list
once offered the Install button for everything in a list of apps longer than could be displayed — after maybe a second, all buttons other than one one for OS X Lion changed to Installed.
Maybe a single issue contributing to a variety of symptoms, maybe a variety of issues. Either way, it's worth nothing that App Store behaviour in response to (or coinciding with) use of the alt/option key can be unpredictable.

There is no proper substitute for iDVD.
Why is there no iDVD on my new Mac?

    UPDATE & ADDENDUM:
But even though you can still buy iLife 11 that includes iDVD 7 from Amazon, Apple now make it difficult to install:
Poster jhb21939 posted this in another thread:
“when I attempted to load iDVD into a new iMac. A notice came up on the screen stating that the 'Authorisation Licence' had expired on 25 March this year (2012).
I contacted the Apple support team and eventually, I was told that the Licence had been withdrawn and could no longer be used.”
In other words Apple are now so adamant that we don’t use iDVD that they have tried to make it impossible to install.
In response, Old Toad posted this solution:
“You can still use it one all of your Macs.  If you get an invalid certificate message just set your Mac's clock to sometime before early 2011 and run the installer.  After you're done reset the time back to the correct time.” He added this comment:
“It began after iDVD and iWeb were discontued and they were dropped from the Apple Store. All I can think of is the certificate was set to expire after a certain time period after the intitial iLife disc was released.
I've been able to use the installer even without setting back the date.  I just clicked on the Continue button and it would work as expected.  For some it would not continue unless the date was set back.”
The latest anorexic iMacs just announced do not even include a CD drive! Proof positive that Apple virtually prohibit the use of DVDs - although the newly announced Mac Minis do include a Superdrive.
Yet, they still include iMovie! Heaven alone knows or understands what you are supposed to do with your newly edited masterpiece - except make a low quality version for YouTube?

  • I lost my Hard disk and had to replace it, how can I get another copy of lion OS, P.S. I bought my macbook pro with preinstalled Lion OS

I lost my Hard disk and had to replace it with a new one, how can I get another copy of lion OS, as the guy at the serive center installed 10.6 for me.
P.S. I bought my macbook pro with preinstalled Lion OS

If you have a way to wipe 10.6.8 off, you can then reboot your machine (with no OS) and since your system came preinstalled with Lion, Internet Recovery should occur which will boot to Apple's servers into a Recovery HD for you to redownload and install Lion.
To be safe I would first make a clone of the current installation using Carbon Copy Cloner or SuperDuper!. This way you have a way to recover.

How can I burn a selection of photos from iphoto onto a disc that can be recognised in any operating system?

I was told the disc willnot work at a third party photo printer like CVS
Those are discs that are created via the Burn button in iPhoto which creates a mini iPhoto Library on the disk.  Those can't be used by an photofinisher.

  • Imovie creations. How can I burn a copy to a disk?

I have made some movies and slide shows in IMovie and I dont know how to burn copies as a DVD so others can see them. I downloaded MiDVD and is says a small clip is too big I am clueless on my MAC and need help. Thanks
Also how can I tell what operating system I have?

For your OS, click on the Apple, then about this Mac. Your OS version is under the Mac OS X sign - you can click on the numbers and it will also display your serial number and build.
As for iMovie, it will depend on your OS version, and, does your machine have a drive built in or do you have an external burner?
    Post back with the details...
And, how big is the small clip?

  • How can I buy _ANOTHER_ copy of Lion?

So I've purchased Lion on my Apple ID, and am gradually rolling it out to all the Macs in my household.
And I've got another computer owned by someone else, with a different Apple ID, that I'm wiping and installing Lion on (MacBook Pro, came with Snow Leopard).  The 7-pass security erase is underway (yeah, I know, but it was a requirement).
So I use my MBA/Lion to log into the App Store using their Apple ID.  And it notices that this machine is already running Lion, and won't let me purchase it.
So I use my MBP/SL to log into the App Store using their Apple ID.  And somehow it knows that this is the machine that I purchased Lion on for my household, so (knowing that this machine has already purchased Lion) it won't let me buy it again.
So I use my MacMini/SL machine to log into the App Store using their Apple ID.  And it doesn't meet the hardware requirements (says I need a Core 2 Duo, even though I have one), so can't install Lion, so it won't let me purchase it.
So I use my MacMiniServer/SL-Server to log into the App Store using their Apple ID.  And it notices I'm running Server, and requires that I buy Lion Server to go along with my Lion purchase.
So I use my iMac/SL to log into the App Store using their Apple ID.  And it lets me purchase it after confirming my billing details (because this is a new computer for this account), but it just sits there with a green "Buy App" button and a spinning gear at the top of the window.  Is it downloading it to that machine (where I don't actually want it)?
So I log into their account again on my MBP, it looks like it's purchased it, but when I click on "Update", it says "You have updates available for other accounts, please sign into <my account> ..."
Yowza!  So it's keeping track of multiple accounts, but won't let me buy something on one account if it's already installed on a computer from another account.
OK, so I _MUST_ be doing something wrong, not only is this way too complicated, but if a machine needs a wipe and rebuild there has to be a way to install Lion on it without (finding the disks that came with that machine, and) reinstalling SL then installing Lion.  I've built a USB boot drive for Lion Recovery, and was hoping to just boot from that, authenticate against their account, and load a fresh Lion install.
And the next person who comes to me with the same problem is going to be OOL, as I've already 'contaminated' my iMac by purchasing Lion on it, so it won't let me do it again.
And I don't want to buy them the Lion USB key, as it doesn't build the Lion Recovery Partition, which is farily important.
Am I missing something, or is this just nearly impossible?  Yeah, I could have just installed Lion on their machine using my credentials, but I want to give Apple $30, and they don't seem to want to let me.
    What am I doing wrong?
    Thanks!

    1. Open the MAS and sign ingto your account.
    2. Click the Purchased pane.
    3. Press the Option key while clicking the Purchased pane again.
    4. The Installed button should switch the Install.
    5. Click the Install button to downlad the Lion installer.
If you do not wish to download the installer again, make a copy somewhere as a backup, it self-deletes after it is used.

  • HT4718 How can i reinstall OS X Mountain Lion on my computer after my hard drive failed and i had a new one installed?

I paid for Mountain Lion about 2 months ago and my Hard drive just crashed.  Is there a way i can reinstall Mountain lion without having to pay again?

What OS did it ship with? If it was Lion, then you can use Internet Recovery to install on the new drive. IR will install the original shipping OS. You can then log into the App store and upgrade to Mountain Lion.
If it came with Snow Leopard, you will need to install Snow Leopard from your install DVD, then upgrade to Mountain Lion.

  • How can I reload my copy of Mac lion aftre ereasing the hard disk.

How can I redownload my copy of mac lion again?? I downloaded the the copy via
OS X Lion Up to Date Program then and due to some issues in the copy I tried to reinstall mac lion through rcovery tools upon booting but I received this message " a server with the specified host couldnt be found". then I used the original dvd to boot the system and install leopard via erasing the hard disk.

You can go to the Apple online store and purcahse a copy of Mountain Lion.  This will give you a redemption code, which you can use to download Mountain Lion from the App Store.  Unfortuantely, I'm not aware of any other way to legally purchase it.  I have never seen Apple release Muontain Lion on DVD.
In terms of Apple Service, they just need the serial number of the machine to check the purcahse date.  It is usually correct, to within a few weeks.  A quick Google search should give you the correct number to dial.
    I hope this helps.

  • IMovie does not "share" to iDVD. How can i burn an iMovie to DVD?  I do have a copy of iDVD on my Mac

IMovie 11 does not "share" to iDVD. How can i burn an iMovie to DVD?  I do have a copy of iDVD on my Mac

My advice, keep iDVD on your Apple Mac as it is a great software and let's hope Apple will introduce it again in imovie 10.  Since you may have imovie 10.0 (2013) up-dated from imvovie 9.0 (which included iDVD for burning your home made films on imvoie 9.0,)  you can proceed as follows to burn it on a DVD:
    a) your film is completed on imovie 10.0.  Under share transfer it to "Theatre" (default).
    b) open iDVD  and drag the film ex "Theatre" on the space "movie" of i.DVD.
    c) Inser a DVD and clic on "burn"...
    It worked for me.

Am in need of a copy of DVDdrive for a macbook pro OS. how can i get a copy, please any one to help

If you are referring to the original system reinstall discs that shipped with every Mac before Lion came out you'll need to contact Apple with the serial # of your Mac and order a replacement set of them.
Or look on one of the Auction websites or places like iFixit.com for a replacement set.
If your Mac came new with any of the Download Only versions of OS X, Lion, Mt Lion or Mavericks you don't need any discs to reinstall OS X. You use the Online Internet Recovery system or the built in Recovery HD partition inb the internal hard drive.
For the built in Recovery HD hold down the Command + r keys at startup. For the Online system hold down the Command + Option/Alt + r keys and keep them held down until you see a globe on the screen.

can I burn a copy of the downloaded recovery disk?

Yes, but it's better to burn the InstallESD.dmg that comes with the Install Mac OS X Lion.app. To burn the Recovery HD requires using Disk Utility to mount it. If DU can't see it, quit DU, run this command in the Terminal app:
    defaults write com.apple.diskutility DUDebugMenuEnabled 1
then launch DU and select Show every partition from the Debug menu.
