Articles appear in a font style that i want to change i have tried from options > content > Advanced
and the set the style i want but still the problem pessimists.

Hi Solara, did you uncheck the checkbox for "Allow pages to choose their own fonts, instead of my selections above"? Then your font choices should override what the web page author selected. (You might need to reload the page after making this change, for example, by pressing Ctrl+r.) Firefox 33.0 displays mojibake+English instead of Japanese+English. It shouldn't matter whether the web page is encoded in ShiftJIS, EUC, raw JIS (though that's rare), or UTF8; all of them should be easy to autodetect.
I can go to the View menu, Character Encoding, and select Japanese, but this should not be necessary. I shouldn't have to teach it to ordinary users.
View - Character Encoding - Auto-detect is off, but even if I set that to Japanese it doesn't help. Hypothetically even if it helped Japanese it wouldn't help Greek.
If I understand correctly there used to be an option View - Character Encoding - Universal, but that option was removed? WTF???????????????????????????????
I've read a few expert opinions that I should change the web server to ... I'm not sure what I should change it to, because looking at the page again it seems that it already says Unicode ... but anyway, I don't think one of Japan's largest transportation companies will let one of their smallest personal individual customers barge in and reprogram their web server.

How can I set auto-detect to use information from the web page, and to turn on auto-detection for web sites that don't say?

For the third time: THE PAGE SENDS A META TAG:

but FF is auto-defaulting to Western and mojibake.

What does the word "this" refer to? The fallback (manual auto-detect setting) worked for this page because this page only contains Japanese and English, and Japanese character sets include the Italian characters that are used in writing English. But, for the third time again, shouldn't FF automatically auto-detect it, and even for manual auto-detecting why was the Universal option deleted?

How can I change iTunes 11 default view?

I really DO NOT LIKE th new iTunes, but I guess I'm stuck with it since I was dumb enough to download it. At least I hope I can change the default view from Albums (totally useless to me) to Songs so I don't have to go through manually changing it each time I open iTunes. First there are no workbooks. All our queries are presented on the portal.
I made the change in the query itself but the default of 'hierarchy nodes' remained. It can be changed to 'single values' at runtime via the context menu, but it's annoying our users to constantly do so.
Second, it makes perfect sense to want to see single values for a characteristic by default and a hierachy optionally. These are customers or sales agents - normally we just want their name- optionally we want to see their organizational structure.This worked fine in 3.x.

If I go to Application Shared Components | Definition | Template Defaults I can see the default page template used by my application. One would think that this is the place to change the default template if wanted to change it, but NOOOOOOO..., like many other things ApEx that's not the way you do it. (An example is the order of columns in an interactive report... all those up/down arrows in there mean nothing if ApEx sets the column default order differently from what you set in the query source or the report attributes section. Nope. You have to log into the application as a developer, edit the column order in your interactive report, and save your report as the default, and THEN you'll get your ordering right. What are these ApEx developers thinking I just don't know...)
I've search around the forums but I haven't found my answers (perhaps I haven't searched hard enough).
So, how do I change the default page template for all pages in my application?

...and once there, if you click on any of the templates looking for a way to set any of them as the default you'll be looking all day. You see the default column with check marks... why not implement the ability to check/uncheck defaults right there?
Alas, if you click on Edith Theme <no>, then you can set the default template. It's a little link to the right under Tasks.
My bad for still not understanding the way the ApEx interface works. It certainly isn't intuitive to me, but that's just me. Hopefully I'll get better.

I'd like to know how I can change firefox language, without having to download and re-install it again. I read there is a way to do it, but I just can't find the language file I have to download. (I have firefox in french, and i want to set it in spanish)

You need an English language version and there is no en-US language pack in Firefox 3.6. If you do not want the download the en-US version then you can install the en-GB language and switch to that version and remove the Spanish es-ES language pack from the chrome folder in the Firefox program folder.
You can find all language pack here:

You can install language pack just like extensions. 
You can set the pref "general.useragent.locale" to the preferred language ("en-GB") on the about:config page. 
You can open the about:config page via the location bar, like you open a web site. 
Use the Filter bar at the top of that page to quickly locate the pref.

When you click the internet (globe) icon you may be able to choose check the 'Use by default for this action' check box then select Firefox.
If not then you will need to open the Settings > Applications > the click on the default browser and press the clear defaults button. Then follow the above directions.

If you want to clear history go to Settings-->Tools-->Privacy-->Clear Data and now choose what you would like to remove.

I am working on setting up firefox 4 in a multi user environment in linux. In FF 3.x releases, I could go to greprefs/all.js area and make the changes in the all.js file to chagne settings globally. But, I could not find any such file for firefox 4.x installation (for linux).
Would you please advise where can I go about editing global setting in Firefox 4?

Maybe it works if you create file and place a files with the prefs in the defaults/pref folder.
You can use a mozilla.cfg file to lock prefs or specify default values. 
You can place a file local-settings.js in the defaults\pref folder to specify using mozilla.cfg.
You can use these functions in mozilla.cfg:
defaultPref(); // set new default value
pref(); // set pref, but allow changes
lockPref(); // lock pref, disallow changes
To prevent users from installing software use:
lockPref("xpinstall.enabled" ,false);

Yes, you can change default fonts here:

The center drop-down lets you set the default font and size. The Advanced button lets you set the default for particular font styles. "Serif", "Times New Roman", "Arial" and "Courier New" are good choices for Windows users.

firefox 25 freezes without moving the mouse continually. i keep downloading version 24. every time i turn off my computer, it reverts back to version 25 - even though i am not allowing it to update without my permission. can you either fix version 25 or tell me how to stop this from updating on its own

hey, just to keep you updated - there is now a fix available for firefox 25, which should address the particular problem of pages not loading unless the mouse is moved.
if you have downgraded to firefox 24 to work around the issue, please go to ''firefox > options > advanced > update'' and turn automatic updates back on. then go to ''firefox > help > about firefox'' which should trigger the update to firefox 25.0.1.
 in case you need to download the setup file for firefox 25.0.1 separately you can do so from https://www.mozilla.org/firefox/channel/#firefox
